These are the bands supported by the oneplus nord according to gsmarena.com
5G bands 1, 3, 7, 28, 78 - Europe
78 - India
Make sure your carrier is using one of these bands. Some regions use different bands, and a phone made for a region might not work well in another.
Also, are you using dual sim? Because if you are, for Europe atleast when in dual sim mode 5G is disabled until a future firmware update patches things up.
Yes I don't see 5g. I have mobile plan with 5g but I don't we 5g. My provider eses N1 network at the moment. I don't understand why.
OnePlus 8t has the same problem.

OnePlus like other phones have enabled 5G only certain networks. I have list in my blog and also instruction how you can modify your phone modem and enable 5G-support: https://mt-tech.fi/en/modify-oneplus-7-pro-5g-8-and-8-pro-nr-lte-a-band-combos/
As per the excellent guide from @olkitu above, I managed to get my OnePlus Nord to connect to 5G on Telstra (Australia) with pre-paid plan.
Additionally, I was able to get VoLTE and VoWiFi working reliably using this YT guide:
Edit: I'm on OxygenOS 10.5.9 (Android 10)
One question. Do I have to do it each and every time after every Software Update or it is permanent?

I live in Sri Lanka. I was able to get an unlocked AT&T G4 (H810) from USA and have used it for a few days now. I have realised that there is no option to change network modes. There is only the 4G mode on my G4 and its killing the battery. Tried changing my sim, updating the software etc. but no luck. Any method to fix this?

So rooting it and installing a different firmware version (most probably h810pr) is the only option?

Yes, but you dont root to install a different firmware version. Also its NOT recommended to do so unless you soft brick, as some its bricked there devices.

Yeah I've heard it's risky.. I'll just buy a battery bank.. pretty cheap over here
THANKS!
I believe the reason why you are unable to turn off just LTE is because the US versions do not have separate 3G/CDMA + LTE radios. They are all in one now. Unlike older models where you could disable the LTE/4G radio and just use 3G only. I do not think this is possible now.
Plus Carriers prefer you to use their 4G networks because it is cheaper and frees up the old 3G spectrum for emergencies and SMS, etc.
Don't quote me on this but this what I gathered.
If you install xposed you can use the Intelli3g module to switch to 3g.
I have used it on my G4 as I work in an area with strong LTE signal but horrible bandwidth. In that area, 3g is faster than the LTE

You are in postpaid plan??
I was using Vodafone and had no problems with 5G reception. I switched to ooredoo recently and I rarely receive 5G signal.
I have been using postpaid for some time. This network has been available since yesterday
When I first bought my F2 Pro i had 5G signal on Ooredoo. However, I was fiddling around with the Ooredoo application, and I clicked the "Activate 5G" option, which then notified me that my device isn't 5G compatible, and I haven't been able to get 5G ever since. I contacted Ooredoo regarding this but they were useless, and now I am stuck on 4G.
Is it possible to disable 5G on this device?
Prefer 4g mode

Hi actually I am asking him the same thing if he is receiving the signal or not. Maybe he is receiving LTE signal often disguised as a 5G in statusbar. Because the operator here said they didn't add Poco F2 in their 5G supported device list.

Before I converted to Global from Stock TMobile i was able to select 5G Standalone. Now my only choice is 2G/3G/4G/5G Automatic.
I have the new SIM card which is supposed to be working for Standalone mode. Is there a way to get this option on my phone without root?
I do show 5G on the status bar on top but every cell mapper or signal app i try does not show 5G connected.
I am Worried I am not really receiving 5G although i have checked the speed and I get between 115 to 250 MBPS so I assume this is not 4G?
OK to I got my own answer and I hope this helps anyone else in the same situation.
Went into the phone information settings *#*#4636#*#* changed the preferred network type to NR/LTE
then I went to preferred network type in the sim card settings and it showed 5G/LTE. As long as you leave it that way it will not change after a re-boot. If you change that setting to 2G/3G/4G/5G again you will not be able to select 5G/LTE again unless you repeat the setting in the phone information.
Now my cell mapper shows I am connected to 5G.
i bet you can fix this using qpst. there are missing/different settings in the files I've seen for global vs Tmobile versions.
i actually edited my original Tmobile files to enable some of the bands that were disabled and to allow 5g on other carriers when traveling.
when connected to stand alone 5g your phone status will look like this -

If you could send me the updated the new file i would like to try them. Thanks so much.
I got the unlocked version from the google store to use on Mint (T Mobile mvno). It does not connect to UC which I figured it wouldn't considering only the Verizon variant has mmWave. However, I went to the T Mobile store and tested their 6a variant and it did connect to mmWave UC, speed test over 500mbs. So I'm curious if loading the T Mobile rom on an unlocked phone would support it.
I purchased the unlocked version, and I get 5GUC on TMobile. But I don't think that it is mmwave
Ok, I see T-Mobile also refers to their n41 (2.5GHz) 5G as Ultra Capacity

I have the 6a bought from a T-Mobile store (well, mailed from T-Mobile as they didn't have sage in stock). I see 5GUC in some places in Ann Arbor, but don't see DL speeds over about 150....
Out in the wild, I never see over 150 either. However, in the T-Mobile store, I get UC and over 400. I have a theory they have one of those personal cell things in the store. I'm in the Cleveland area. I turn off 5G for the most part, it keeps the phone cooler and helps with battery life.
I'm betting that the 5G UC symbol is for native T-Mobile, not MVNOs. If you see Mint Mobile in your indicator, it just says "5G".
I believe only Verizon shows "Verizon" even if a MVNO is used. Most carriers show the MVNO name if one is used, and avoid the branded indicators.
You are right. Even though the band is the same, only the T-Mobile sim displays UC. Found a good video explaining the differences.
I have 2 questions related to T-Mobile and Google purchased phone. I am on T-Mobile and have the default build.
1. Is there anything to be gained or loss by flashing the newer T-Mobile B1 build vs default B1 build?
2. Does flashing to T-Mobile B1 build exclude me from the Android 13 Beta program?
I bought this unlocked from Amazon. Using boost mobile infinite
I called boost they said it should be able to be done from the phone
I called Motorola they said call boost

What is your model number? Is this a 5G Plus, or Stylus, or...?
We have device specific sections that you'll probably get more help in, so if we know where this thread needs to go, we can move it for you.

It's regular moto g 5g 2022 that is the model name.
You should have a toggle for 'Allow 5G' that will do what you want. If not, use the dial code *#*#4636#*#* and pick an appropriate config under Phone information -> Set Preferred Network Type that does not start with 'NR'.

Awesome. Where can I find the breakdowns of each network type. Which one is 3g. I think 4g is LTE
On the TMO network 2G is GSM, 3G is WCDMA, LTE is 4G, and NR is 5G. CDMA/EvDo would be for Verizon 2G/3G. TDSCDMA was developed in China so you won't see it deployed in the US.
