Whatsapp problem. Only receiving messages when screen turned on.

Hey guys!
I installed this rom on my sgs 4g. I really like it, and i didn't have any problems yet. As many others i am using the whatsapp messenger, and i am having some trouble with it. I only receive new messages ones i turned on my screen, or even ones i opened the app. Actually it is supposed to be working like the normal message app, so you are getting a notification when you get a message even if you have the phone in your pocket and you're not using it. It is really annoying me, because i am missing messages very often and after like an hour i am like: "oh, i should probably check my whatsapp". and than i realized that i got messages hours ago. When i first installed whatsapp it gave me a warning that i have installed a custom rom, and that i won't get any support by the support team if i have trouble, since it's probably the rom that is causing the problems. I hope somebody can help me. I don't really want to install a new rom if necessary.

So you don't have to click through: [ROM][MTD][4.0.4][AROMA]PARANOIDANDROID-v1.6a

That warning is a scape-goat for the app dev to refuse to fix their broken code. It sounds like there is a problem syncing and that would be the apps fault not a rom.

You don't by any chance have bln control in use do you? On AOKP if I use it, my notifications stop working until I disable it

[Q] Issue with Idol 3 and MightyText

Does anyone else here use MightyText? Since switching over to the Idol 3 last week, I'm having some issues. When I send a text from the MightText web client, the message goes out and the recipient receives it. However, the message doesn't show up in the conversation list on my phone (it used to show up on my old phone). I tried uninstalling GoSMS and just using the stock message app but it's still happening.
If there are other MT users on this board, can you tell me if you have the same issue on your Idol 3?

I don't use that app but whenever moving from one Android version to a new one there are always apps that don't work properly. Same thing happens on Windows as well. The app dev needs to update their app for the new OS. Let them know what happening and if their still supporting their app they will fix it. I have an issue with Next Browser but my issue is it won't even install. Others are having the same issue on Lollipop but on other phones besides the Idol 3. I would recommend using an app that works on Lollipop until your favorite one is being updated/fixed. You may need to do some searching.

It is working for me. After installing the app, the app directs you to a website. This confirms it is communicating with the phone.

I have contacted the developer and informed them. I was just curious if this is a Lollipop issue, and Idol 3 issue, or just something screwy with my phone, and that's what I'm trying to track down.

Right, the app itself is working and sending text messages. The problem I'm having is that the outgoing text doesn't show up in the conversation list, so when I'm viewing a conversation on my phone, I can only see the other person's texts, not the ones I sent through MightyText. If I send a message through the phone, it shows up as normal.
It's not really a major issue, just something that was working fine on my old GS4/KitKat but isn't working the same on my Idol 3/Lollipop.

i just noticed that. kind of makes it one sided..... i have the same issue. I am going to try push bullet and see if that fixes it

same thing happens with pushbullet. My responses do not appear in the messages. bummer....

I know I'm late to this party, but I also have the same issue. Any luck with Pushbullet? This is definitely somehow specific to the idol3. I haven't had this issue with any other phone over the years, on any Android OS version.

I installed Textra yesterday and it's been working great. I tried Hangouts but was having weird issues.

So you're successfully using Pushbullet or Mightytext with Textra, on the Idol 3? Including outgoing messages showing in the message threads? I just can't seem to get this working right on my phone.

I have Pushbullet, Textra, MightyText, Hangouts, Messenger and Messaging. I have tried various combinations to get my outgoing text from my Chromebook to appear on my Idol3, but no success. I had no troubles with my Nexus 5.

Well at least it's not just me. Thanks for the input.

Similar issue with OK Google sent texts
I'm having a similar issue when I send texts using "Ok Google".
The texts are received by the other party fine, but they never show up in my text history.
Is anyone else having the same issue? Anyone know of any fixes?

Outgoing texts do not appear in my conversation list for IFFT, Macrodroid sent texts.

I looked all over the internet for this issue... I'm glad I know now what's the problem, but I wish
a solution had emerge... any luck for you guys ?

This seems to be an Alcatel issue. I have tried reaching their support team regarding this issue and have not had any responses.
This makes the phone useless for me as I send out a lot of group texts via my computer. If I had known this would not work, I would have never purchased it.

Seems like people who send me texts never get their messages through.

Yes it is happening to me too.. Many a times i wont get the otp. I thought it was carrier issue.

Same here. I was on the Official and had to go back to Android 9. Really sucks because I really liked 10

I installed carrier services from the play store, and it seems to be making it better

I wasn't getting them in the google messenger app and couldnt' download attachments (oneplus messenger or whatever it's called is disabled). I just installed this, looking forward to my next mms.

I have had this issue on Android 10 only.
I've pinpointed it to when the phone is inactive for I don't know how long.. I work third shift, so sleep in the am woke up everyday for 2 weeks to texts **** down calling worked..
Only fix is reboot.
Temp fix is a scheduled shutdown and start up while I sleep and phone charges. Haven't had issues in a week now. I'm running atnt and Verizon side by side

Did you find a fix for this?

I was having issues with the stock messaging app, did not get a lot of text, or have them send either. It did not matter what network the recipient/sender was on. I switched to google messages and have not had the issue repeat itself. I am on tmo, and this happened to me months back.

As soon as whatsapp asks to restore it goes to constant loading even after few hours the same. If i use back button it just loads whtsapp finally withoit history. Tried many times even resetted the phone but dosent work

I restored it on my Note 20 Ultra, smoothly. There was no problem. You should check that connectivity is OK?

Zero problems, backed up to Google Drive, restored from the same.

I'm not the one with issue now. My issue a few years ago was the backup was on G drive was corrupted resulting in WhatsApp not restoring. Since then I've moved on to a more robust messaging system called Telegram.

Question SMS Messaging on 12S Ultra with Xiaomi.Eu

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased a 12S Ultra from a user on here that had installed the Xiaomi.Eu Rom. I got it up and running and everything seemed to operating just fine except SMS/Text messenging. I use Google Messages and gave the phone permissions, but in sending out messages, I would get the response from my S22 Ultra instead. I tried a few workarounds and nothing. Is anyone able to help me? The guy who had sold the phone informed me that everything was in working order including OTA updates but did not mention about this as he uses an app for iMessage instead :/.

You most likely have your messages paired with a computer . Make sure you unpair Any devices you have with the web version of messages.google.com.

That's a negative. I've never paired google messages to my computer. I did however do what you suggested. I've tried again using google on the 12S Ultra and my S22 Ultra is picking up the messages, not the 12S ultra lol.

did you add your phone number on the 12s in messages under advanced, and then enable chat ? if you are still logged into chat in the same gmail on the other phone where u were using the same number the texts will still come thru on wifi, i have used google messages on both the 11 ultra and the 12s ultra, it is always a pita to get it working but once it does it works fine for me

So I did that. Turns out there was one thing I didn't do. Turn off the chat features on my S22 Ultra - now it's passing through to my 12S Ultra. Thank God. Oddly Chat Features on this phone isn't supported. It's there but I don't see it being allowed.

chat features will work, but its a pita anytime you do a fresh install of the rom, double check again every permission is granted, use wifi, clear data and reset permissions, sometimes it just takes a time to kick in

Long press on the Google messages icon
Information/ permissions/14 lines always allowed.
also put autostart and battery saver no restriction.
