csc change... weird results.. - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

So I've changed my n20u u1 csc to others and I've noticed that each time I'm getting different bands that I'm able to choose that were not available at first...
Originally I had the vzw... But I switched to att csc then to dsh...
Vzw at the bottom only had nb260 and nb261... However with dsh csc.
I get dang near every band...

Here is the same device on vzw csc

Which tools did you use?

The band difference is due to carrier settings. Att uses direct bands than Verizon and so on. Some carriers such as sprint csc stuff opens more bands up than say Verizon setup does. So for the most versatility probably u1 unlocked firm would be the best

I used the *#272*imei# method
And used samsung band changer for the band list

That doesn't work with my mobile

What model number you have... Strange thing is that this is the only dialer code that works for me. No of the other secret menus work on mines (sm-n986u1)

Most of the dialers are disabled on u1 firmware

You have to use the Google Phone app to access that menu: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer

If your carrier doesn't support these added bands it won't make a difference, you won't be able to connect to them unless for SOS calls if any carrier support them.

Will this be the same hardware as other carriers like the S7's were? I was reading that T-Mobiles new band 66 will be usable(unused frequency) on the S8's. If Tmobile ever works in my area I would like to know if I can flash TMO firmware on my device or U firmware to my device like you could on S7's. On S7's you could go between cdma and gsm carriers with a flash Anyone have a link to network specs of S8's?

They will all be exactly the same. There will be only one model in the US. If you sim unlock, and switch sims, do a factory reset, it will boot with the new carriers boot screen and bloat. Currently testing S8 and had mine locked to Att, but switched to Tmobile

I do not, I looked as well. When I asked about my Att phone booting up with T-mobile boot after unlock and Sim swap, I was told it was called one sku. I have see att to T-mobile swap as well as Verizon to Att. Even though my device was locked to att, i can connect to new lte u network.

SM-955F or FD and TMo LTE

Hello.
Anyone have one and can help me? I cannot get LTE on Tmobile no matter what APN settings I use. I know I have LTE here so I know it's not the band.
Thanks.

Yeah don't listen to this guy. The F model is exynos correct? That means no Tmobile software.
The F model you bought might be region locked so it may not work in the USA right now without unlocking it. I know there have been other threads about this not sure if a solution has been found or not.

i have the 955FD model and it works just fine with T-Mobile USA. did you call T-Mobile to ensure your account is provisioned for LTE access? (I assume you're in the USA). where did you purchase your 955F model S8+?

Hey Cortez. Good to hear this as I have the FD as well. Bought it on eBay from a trusted seller and it is region unlocked. I have LTE provisioned. So...i have "4G" and not 4G+ although I have seen both. What do you show and what band are you on?

4G = LTE. Go to SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>STATUS>SIM CARD STATUS and you should see LTE under Mobile network type. that's how i determine LTE access... there's also an app name LTE Discovery that can be used to determine which band you're using. by the way, i believe 4G+ is LTE-A, or carrier aggregation, which is faster than standard LTE..

not sure... i do know that when i use my T-Mo SIM (vs ATT) calls are super clear. i'm using my ATT account at the moment because i'm tethering my laptop and TIDAL HiFi music in my car. (my monthly data allowance with ATT is 100GB + rollover).

If it drops to H/H+ then you don't have VoLTE. If it stays 4G then you have VoLTE.

Wouldn't matter on band support. VOLTE should work on all supported LTE bands for T-Mobile. If it drops to H then that means there is not VOLTE support for T-Mobile.

It should be using the Tmobile csc to get Volte support..
I have US and international version, US version supports Volta same sim not supporting in international version... Problem is due to the Csc configured to the international version won't support Tmobile Volta..
Unless we have success in flashing tmobile Csc it won't work same as WiFi calling

S8+ Carrier Bands

Looking at purchasing an S8+ second hand. How's the band support work across carrier versions? It's a smg955uzvv, which is a Vz model. Is it possible to flash the unlocked or T-Mobile firmware and if so will that activate all of the respective bands?

They are nearly world wide universal. If its network unlocked. You can flash the tmobile so you have their apps. Or flash the unbranded csc files to make it bloat free. The newer samsungs are awesome with compatibility

5g Bands on Qualcomm X55 modem

I'm curious, since the iphone 12 series is in stores today, it seems that the iphone is using the X55 Qualcomm modem. If I understand correctly, that's the same modem that the Snapdragon Note 20 ultra uses? If so, how come the iphone 12 has so many 5g bands, and the Note 20 ultra is so limited by region? If it's the same modem, why the difference?
If the modems are different, then please ignore my question
What I have noticed is that using the *#272*imei# method and changing it to DSH... I get the exact same amount with the sm-986u1...

This is on the 9860 model?
I'm still curious why apple uses the same modem and has pretty much all worldwide 5g bands covered, and the 9860 has a paltry 3 bands, especially when they're the same modems

Cool, although I'm referring specifically to the 9860 model. Assuming all snapdragon units have the same X55 modem, I don't understand why they don't have the same 5g bands, when Apple has clearly shown that the modem is capable of ALL major 5g bands. Does Samsung specifically gimp the modem?

All the units do have the x55 modem and I am not sure why all the bands aren't available for roaming either. The available bands are controlled by the service mode built into the firmware, then further defined by the CSC. I know here in the US, the CSC controls more than just the 5G band availability as well. I have noticed when using t-mobile while on Verizon CSC, SA 5G won't register any service bars in the corner icon. Also band 41 5g, although enabled, won't connect. And then when using Verizon on Tmobile CSC, 5G n5 won't connect even with DSS and n5 NSA enabled.
It looks like architecture in iPhone is one worldwide firmware that just enables all bands and then available services are further changed by the carrier services from the installed Sim.
I followed this user's notes and I think this did the trick.

After going through that thread, doesn't seem like enabling all bands is possible on the 9860.

Question What's everyone's LTE status bar indicator on their factory unlocked (U1) S22 series phones?

Title says it all, in the past on factory unlocked samsung phones I've had the default samsung LTE logo in the status bar. For some reason my new S22 Ultra is displaying the hideouts Verizon 4G LTE logo.
SM-S908U1
S908U1UEU1AVC8
Uhhh no, I'm getting my s22 Ultra tomorrow and my main carrier is Verizon, I hope I don't get that. There has to be a way to change the csc to xaa aka the default icons.

Which carrier are you using (dont weant to assume Verizon)?
What I have learned about carriers in the US is that once you put in a SIM it will ask for a reboot to "install" carrier features or at least most major carriers do (ATT, VERIZON, TMO). it will show the LTE icon that matches your carrier after rebooting. (at least in US models, not sure in international ones)
I remember when I lived overseas, I would get the standard LTE and VoLTE logos but once I put my US SIM it would change to the TMO 4GLTE icon (which I completely hate).

Unfortunately I don't think so. Before inserting my Verizon sim it was XAA/XAA,XAA/XAA. Once I inserted the sim the phone forced a reboot to install carrier specific features which is when I saw the Verizon specific 4G LTE logo. It now shows

You're only seeing that cause VZW isn't active CSC. TMB is active CSC.
