Issue with app drawer in Poco launcher - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

Hi.
I bought Poco X3 three weeks ago and I'm quite happy with it.
However, I noticed an issue in the app drawer that comes with Poco launcher.
I have many apps installed. When I scroll down to find apps, the screen goes back to the top automatically and it does not stay down which is quite annoying.
I can of course search for apps by typing their name but the manual search using scroll down is not useable.
Do others have the same problem? Any known workaround?
Thank you in advance.

Have you tried a different launcher like Lawn chair to see if it solves the issue?

Don't have that problem on my set... App drawer stay at bottom when scroll down... Might be some setting there... I removed all the tab in drawer only 1 tab for all apps...

Try another launcher, if doesn't work, go for a reset. After the last update I had several bugs and a reset solved the situation, at least for me.
P.s. The poco launcher isn't fast and smooth as nova, try this, very very smooth and without any lags or stuttering.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I noticed that running the Security built in memory cleaner solved the issue for a few hours (seems that there was a memory management issue).
I just received a new update (12.0.3) and so far the issue is not happening anymore.

I'm having this problem again in 12.0.4.
The issue happens also with other screens:
* When sharing a file, I can't scroll to the app I need as it keeps resetting the scroll to the start position
* Clicking on news from Google Discover does not work
* Google Tasks widget keeps flickering
All this issues can be resolved temporarily by cleaning memory using the rocket icon.

What's the name of the launcher app? I haven't changed any permissions. Which permission do you think that relates to this issue?

Hi. I bought poco m3 pro 5g and i have the same issue. Did anyone solve it?

Please try the recommendations provided above and report your success.
Here are some more.
1: Try a different launcher.
2: Power off your phone. Wait 30 seconds, start it again.
3: Check if the built in screen protector is causing the problem.
4: Check touch sensor : Settings - About Phone - All Specifications - Tap Kernel Number 10 times - Touch sensor.
5: Factory reset your phone.
Try these in the particular order and report your success. Do step 5 only if you have tried everything else and it doesn't work.
If you have the issue still after the reset, you have two options, wait for an update and hope it will be fixed or get your phone replaced due to a faulty touch panel.

Recents and home buttons stopped working and no notifications appear - any ideas?

Very strange one... My wife's VZW Pixel (I have one too) suddenly experience a bunch of changes that we can't find the trigger for. I just spent a hour troubleshooting every possible thing and I am stumped...hoping for some guidance.
Known facts
1. She changed nothing
2. At least one app (siwftkey) auto-updated... I uninstalled it but that didn't fix it
3. She was on the December patch when this happened. I updated to Jan but that did nothing.
4. Device is stock, unrooted with Nova launcher (I tried the pixel launcher and the same issues appear)
Symptoms:
1. Home and recents buttons do not work on any screen... Back button still works
2. No notifications appear on the NAV bar and nothing appears when you swipe down. Sound notifications do work however. No apps are blocking notifications and the individual app notifications are set up properly
3. Double press the power button no longer goes to camera even though that gesture is toggled on
Factory reset is my next step but I am traveling right now and she will need me to set everything back up so I am hoping there might be a fix short of a full reset.
And suggestions greatly appreciated.

Last resort, you can backup apps and data using Helium, then factory reset it. Then restore with Helium. To use Helium, you'll need a PC though.
Any other results on this?? My pixel just hit the same problem! It is in an area that has no internet so it is causing all sorts of issues. I don't know if the two are related at all.

Unfortunately not... Did a factory reset and that cured it. Not one issue since then. Must have been so random app she downloaded that created a conflict.

Happens with me today. I was messing around with the device and when I clicked in a YouTube video link on notification shade the device suddenly soft reboot.
Since them, home and recentes buttons won't perform their actions. They still vibrate and home button animates on touch. Status bar shows none notification, even I knowing they are arriving via notification sound and quick settings shade won't pull down completely. My tiles was rearranged as well. No mobile connection either.
I'm running lattes official Oreo. Never unlocked and never rooted my pixel XL 128.
For me a factory reset through settings did the trick.
Would be very good if Google could light us about this issue. No rouge apps on my device. In fact I'm using a few
his is an Android issue.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
You can uninstall Nova Launcher afterwards if you want. You don't need to set it as default.
Perfect!!! Thanks.

Strange WhatsApp Emoji Bug

Tonight I noticed this strange bug when trying to pick an emoji inside WhatsApp, not from the keyboard I'm using, but from inside WhatsApp. So by now y'all are aware of the option to auto hide the nav buttons and also if you want to keep the little black dot on the left side so you can more easily swap options. Well, when I have my nav buttons set to auto hide I notice when trying to pick an emoji inside WhatsApp the keyboard goes all wonky. I recreated the issue in the video below:
I've switched from Swiftkey and Swype and the stock keyboard just to make sure it was just WhatsApp that was the problem. I'm sharing this with their devs in case it can help with an update to fix it. Not a major problem just a strange and funny bug that I came across. Have any of you noticed something similar?
Nope, works perfectly fine for me. Just verified with Swype and Samsung keyboard.

Oh it's so good to know I'm not the only one having this issue. Yeah I encounter the same thing you do. Tried submitting this issue to whatsapp devs, but they told me this has got to do with the phone itself, not the app. So I resorted to using Samsung smart tutor for some help. After some extensive tinkering by the technician, it was still the same. So in the end, I was told to go to a Samsung service centre where they can help me out in detail sighs...
One thing I've tried that can totally eradicate this issue is to not have the show/hide button option on. Turn it off(yes I know this means you'd have to have the navigation bar there at all times) & this problem will go away...
I'm still very confused though as to whether this is a problem with whatsapp or the phone.
I have reinstalled whatsapp and solved the problem

Youre absolutely right. It solved the issue for me too. Which is baffling though. The Samsung technician uninstalled then reinstalled whatsapp again on my phone, & there wasn't any improvement after that. But doing it by myself now solves the issue lol.
Thanks yeah
finally i found something about this kind issue!
i have a problem like this, but in my galaxy s7. that comes since the android 7, but persists in the version 8.
I already try to reinstall the app, but without positive results.
here is a little different. almost always when a change from the whatsapp emoji back to swiftkey he lag almost like in the video. looks like he starts all over again instead os just show again. the worst case is when i hold in some message to respond, but the bugs happen and i lose my selection.
Someone have another ideia to solve this?
In a galaxy s8 from my friend he has the same issue in android 7, but when upgraded to 8, started to works fine.

Recent Apps Not Clearing

The only odd thing I am seeing on my wife's Pixel 3 after updating to 10...
Factory image .19 flash-all (minus -w), rooted and running ElementalX.
When I half swipe up to recent apps and use clear all or individually swipe them away they appear not to be removed if I look again. They are actually removed from memory since if I click on one it says app not available. Locking and unlocking with the power button doesn't clear the "shells," but locking with the accessibility menu and unlocking does clear them. Of course, rebooting clears them. Opening another app leaves only that one in recent apps. I'm pretty sure it is a 3rd party app and not a build issue since I cannot replicate it is safe mode. Just wondering if anyone else has seen it.
Same problem here with Pixel 2

What apps do you know for sure run on startup to see if we have any in common? Apps that get an SU notification are an easy place to start. Have you tried narrowing down the app? Since this is my wife's phone, I'd rather not hijack it to freeze an app, reboot, check for issue, re-enable and freeze another, etc. It is a non-issue to her since she never clears recent apps.
For me, it happens in safe mode too. Only when I use another launcher the recent apps menu works as expected. But, when I go back to the pixel launcher the problem comes back again.
I do not have any su notifications and my pixel is not rooted.

Thanks for the info. Not rooted helps a lot. Maybe I just got lucky in safe mode. Just for giggles, I assume you didn't do a factory reset but took the OTA or sideloaded it with in place data. Google tried the factory reset line on me without knowing for sure that it isn't a build glitch. Maybe my wife doesn't know that she is getting Lawnchair installed. At least, then it will match my launcher.
I also have recent app clearance issue and have had since first beta I find opening desktop app then closing it clears all apps I have also made Google aware throughout beta testing

Do you know if a factory reset solves the issue?
I noticed aswell, that after some minutes the apps clear themselves, without any other action.

I ended up putting her account on the beta of Lawnchair 2, but right before I installed LC I couldn't get the problem to recur LOL.i like LC better anyways juts for not having to do that ridiculous long swipe up to get to the tray. Otherwise, you can make it look/act nearly identical.

I tried on beta 3-4 no joy yes I noticed that also
I still tend to think that it is a 3rd part app that unfortunately lots are using interacting poorly with the base. Kind of a moot point now that the phone is on the Lawnchair beta and it is on the Play Store now. Check it out if you are having the issue or just want to get rid of the long swipe up to the drawer. The funny thing is that this phone had the issue of notifications not clearing (after tapping) without a second swipe down for no reason. That went away and was replaced by this.
Have you find any solution to this issue? Basically, there is a bug in Android 10 that creates a "ghost" image of recents apps, after you close them with the back button or back gesture.

No, it still happens but less frequently. She has Lawnchair on her phone now which doesn't have the issue. You can also force close them by using the lockscreen shortcut in accessibility menu (I like to use that to avoid pressing the lock/power button any more than I have to). and then unlocking.
I will give it a try. Thank you

Lock-screen wallpaper doesn't change anymore after tweaking

Via ADB, I uninstalled some of the bloatware (only the recommended/safe apps) from my brand new Poco X3 NFC. Now the lock-screen wallpaper stays the same, no matter which one I choose. (I already rebooted and shut down the device a couple of times, though.)
I can change the home screen wallpaper normally (using the Wallpaper icon at the bottom left, which appears after tap&hold on home screen), but if I choose to apply the change to both home&lock screens or to lock-screen only, nothing changes.
One interesting thing is that tapping on "Wallpapers" in Settings doesn't do anything anymore.
Any idea about what could have gone wrong?
Did you solve this? the problem is definitely with removing some Xiaomie app, but which one and how can we get it back?

I had this a few year ago when I changed the launcher. MIUI wouldn't allow me to change the lock screen wallpaper when I used Nova Launcher
I guess it was Nova Launcher then, I think I was experimenting with it as well. But I don't have this phone anymore, though.
I too had the same situation until I reinstall the com.miui.miwallpaper package.
PS: The apk from the sites were not working for me so I got it via my friend who has a Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Question Cannot place widget when using launcher on ROG Phone 5...

Hey there, I really need some help of you guys... I am using the ROG Phone 5 as my daily driver for quite a while now - never had serious problems.
Now, after updating to Android 12, I tried to install a launcher - no problems - place apps on the homescreen - no problems - and cannot add a single widget to any launcher. The pop-up, where it asks if the launcher is allowed to create widgets doesn't show up, instead it always says "settings stopped working".
Only the standard ASUS-Launcher, which ist quite bad, let's me place widgets, as you do not have to give permissions there. Never had this problem and don't know what to do now... Can someone help me please? :3
Re-installing the launcher as well as resetting the phone didn't work for me - seems like there this is a OS realted issue? Maybe there is a workaround?
Hey,
I've searched the internet for a really long time to find someone who also has my problem. I can agree with you one hundred percent, I also own the ASUS Rog Phone 5 and can't use any widget by using an other launcher than the standard ASUS. I keep getting the same error message too. I'm getting desperate, can someone help us?
Hey, got the same problem here, didn't expect to find anyone asking about it here. Also, I'm using the 5s Pro version, but I guess they're not that different. Weird thing for me though, I did not have this problem before, I use nova launcher and it worked perfectly fine but a couple weeks ago my phone just died on me while I was playing and had to send it to a service place, they changed the motherboard and I got it back yesterday, after installing stuff on it, when I got to the launcher part I was super confused about this thing, I got the same message "Settings stopped working", I had made a backup of my launcher on another phone and sent it on my rog phone, the widgets appeared but couldn't load completely (I had a weather widget and a calendar) I pressed on them and that message popped again. I randomly tried pressing multiple times on the widget and I got a text saying "factory reset" "restarting" or something like that (didn't quite get it since it restarts quickly and then it brings me in a menu asking me to try loading my system again or do a factory reset, this is a pretty strange problem/bug/whatever, and I hope Asus will fix it at some point.
