Xperia XZ Premium with wired game controller - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

I use Xperia XZ Premium as a game streaming device because it has a particularly good screen and headphone jack.
As we all know, almost all Android phones support wired gamepads.
But I tried an OTG adapter with DualShock 4 on Xperia XZ Premium, the phone only charges the controller. No control at all.
I tried other android phone, plug and play. So the adapter and cable are OK.
Has anyone tried a wired connection? Is there a way to solve it?
ps.
Bluetooth works well. But I also use it as a second controller for steam.
Wired connection can avoid cumbersome Bluetooth settings and have a more stable connection.

[Q] Will this Wired PS3 work with TF101?

Hi All,
I have TF101 ICS latest update, not rooted. I had XBOX wired controller, no luck with that, without doing proper research I ordered a "Wired Shock Game Controller For Sony PS3 " now I hear every one is talking about a wireless with pairing using a cable and remove it to use the BT once paired. Can any one tell me how to make my wired PS3 to work? It is still did not arrive hence I don't know if it works or not.
I have second thoughts to see if I should message the seller to get a wireless ps3.
I don't own a Play station I am buying this exclusively to play Shadowgun on my TF101.
Any help much appreciated.

Connecting wired Xbox360 controller with usb adapter (no dock)

Hello!
I don't have a dock and I was wondering if anyone has successfully connected a wired Xbox360 controller through the usb adapter (40 pin to female usb) to use with emulators. I've read that using a female to female usb adapter with the charging usb cable doesn't work (only works with low powered devices) but I'm wondering if it works with this other adapter. My concern is that the tablet won't be able to directly power the controller.

It will work fine, i was just trying to get a wireless xbox 360 controller working last night(From a dock). it connected fine, but was having issues with dead trigger so i gave up and brought an ps3 controller. Weigh up whether the ps3 controller is worth getting against the adaptor/ 360 controller, becouse the ps3 controller is ideal for the tablet (bluetooth connection)

I want to use it with emulators so I don't really mind if it doesn't work with some android games. I already have a wired Xbox controller and one of those adapters cost 20$/15€, so it's much cheaper than getting a PS3 controller.
But it's great to hear that it will work, thanks!

[Q] Using a Wireless 2.4GHz Gamepad on android?

Ok so I have a Playon wireless controller for pc (I cant find any reference to this brand online) which I Bought a few years ago. It has a usb reciever and has an LED on it that indicates that it is communicating with the usb dongle and has small text under it saying RX 2.4 ghz. The problem is that I would like to connect it to my HTC desire s but I've had problems with using usb host ( an easy way to use an otg cable would be appreciated) is there a way to connect it to my desire s, as I also have several wireless ps2 controllers but I think they use the same system.
Me, too

[BUMP(i think)]
Rudolph, I have the exact same problem!
I have a Logitech Cordless Precision Controller, apparently made for the PS3, and it says it runs on 2.4ghz wireless.
If Bluetooth is on the 2.4ghz spectrum, then surely it should be able to cross-connect with a little bit of freeware.
XDA Developers should try to come up with something like this, because that would open a whole new spectum of devices that could be connected.
In any case, there should definitely be some way to connect these devices.
My controller doesn't have a usb port, but I have another older one that I got from a thrift shop that works amazing on my laptop, but when I try to plug it into my kindle through a coupler and the actual kindle cord, it doesn't give power to the controller, as its a normal usb-only controller, so it doesn't have batteries.
New Idea
So, it seems the solution may lie in the controller, maybe it would be worth getting a cheap controller somewhere and adding a battery to the circuit. That is if the phone would recognise it.

MHL Adapter

Hi all,
First thread I have ever started on xda,
Used the site for years to help with rooting various phones and tablets,
Anyway I wondered if anyone has tried a MHL Adapter for the Z5 yet?
Know of one that works?
Thanks
I used the Sony mhl cable and it worked only issue was that I could see half the navigation bar but that was on an old tele at my friends since I have chromecast I don't have much use for it at home

Thanks,
I do have chromecast myself, great little device,
I tried streaming the vice city game to my TV, through chromecast it was laggy
In parts, I have 50mb fibre optic so thought it would be OK,
Basically I'm hoping using MHL will remove all lag and I can also
Use my phone as abit of a gaming device to TV,
I work away alot as well so MHL would be good for hotels,
I'm in no rush for one at the moment, searching Google doesnt really give alot of results right now, nice to know your old adapter works though
Well 50mb fibre doesn't buff you're WiFi. Minimum standard today should be 54MBit (as far as coverage is concerned), so it's (in simple) faster than your isp.
Z5 and chromecast support ac standard wich results in a theoretically 1300MBit throughput. Wich should be more than enough to deliver full HD material lagfree if properly compressed.
I'll bet that your problem isn't your isp (50MBit fibre has got nothing to do with chromecast) it's more likely your WiFi
Either it's bad designed or, more likely, one of your components is too old.
It'd check the supported WiFi standards of your router first.
To your initial question: I'm using the genuine Sony mhl im750 and up until now I didn't have any problems with it.
I've used it to play all kinds of emulators on my Z1 paired with a ps3 ds controller on a big screen. To bad the ds3 got dropped. I don't have a ps4 yet
My fibre optic was installed a few years back, new router from Virgin and stuff, films stream OK,
I only tried it the once so will give it another go,
I was looking at the mhl adapters on eBay and Amazon,
Anything I should look out for in particular?
Avoid cheaper versions and go Sony?
I have a ps3 and 4, would rather of attached a ps3 controller as I use my ps4 pads for the ps4 quite alot,
Probably have to root to get ps3 controller support again with six axis app
I use a Sony MHL adapter, haven't tried it on my Z5. Worked great on my Z1. I could even use a capture card to record it and use a Dualshock 3 controller. https://youtu.be/RekbQdR7_8s

I tried the sony IM750 MHL to HDMI adapter on Lineage 14.1 from the forums:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/orig-development/cm-14-1-lineageos-t3536846
That doesn't work, it causes the phone to reboot. I haven't tried ohter MHL to HDMI adapters and I haven't tried this adapter on stock rom either.

Xbox 360 Controller support?

Does the Honor 8 support wired Xbox 360 controllers via an OTG cable? I've heard Bluetooth works, but I've got a wired one I use with my PC I'd like to use. The Red Samurai (right name?) Bluetooth controller that worked on my old phone won't pair for me on the Honor 8.
The OTG adapter I ordered finally arrived. The 360 controller doesn't work. The LED just blinks and it isn't recognized. It turns out that the Dual Shock 3 plugged in via USB actually works though. The latency is low enough I can cast my phone's screen to my TV for games that aren't super twitchy.
