Can't intall unknown apps

Hello everybody!
Im new in this forum but I think that you can help me.
I bought a Nexus 5 one week ago. Im very happy with this phone, but i have a problem with the unknown applications. I have Android Kit-Kat 4.4.2
When I download the file *.apk, I cant push the button install, doesnt work.
I try with a very popular app like PokerStars, 888Poker, ... nothing
Anyone know anything of this problem?

You have to enable installation from unknown sources in Settings>Security first

I disable the security options to permit install unknown apps.
I already do it. doesnt works...

Are they legitimate apps or pirated? If they're legitimate you may have to manually instill them

Are you using a ROM with halo
I don't know if it's still an issue still because I don't use halo.
But the install button used to always be greyed out when halo was active.

Changes after the July Firmware update

Hello, after updating the firmware on my PRO LTE version, I noticed the following:
- There seems to be a new app called "Play Movies & TV". It seems to be an app to buy and then play Movies and TV. Am I right? Any good point in using it?
- I noticed a new app called "GALAXY Apps". I supposed it is an app to suggest apps for the Note PRO.
Other than these, I don't see any noticeable changes. Do you?

Google Play Store update for non-US. They started setting Shows and Films in Google Play for Non-US users. It would've appeared in the Play Store update, not the firmware update.

Neither are related to a firmware update

Thanks. Do you know what have been changed in Firmware updates? I don't see any differences...

Any chance to get the firmwareupdate on a rooted device? OTA does not work

Samsung doesn't release a changelog, so I have no idea. (nor have I updated.) it's usually just bugfixes and such.

Enable Survivor mode/root keeper in the superuser or supersu app, temp disable root, OTA it and re-enable Root.
Or of you're not intending to keep Root or re-root, flash using ODIN.

Huawei has released OTA B013SP01 for private beta. Its going to be available in few days/weeks to everyone.
2 major changes :
- Double click screen to wake up device
- Allow other messaging apps to be set as default.
Process to update(if you don't want to wait for official release)
- Download update.zip from here : https://www.dropbox.com/s/ag7vqb2tqlr11of/update.zip?dl=1
- Save update.zip in dload folder on sd card.
- goto EMUI Updater > menu > local update > select the sd card incremental update.
After update there will be a chinese app installed. You need to open it and enable it and press ok.
This will not work on rooted devices. If you are rooted, try this :
- Install B013 by dload method. This will not reset your phone. It will keep ur apps installed. Just that it will add huawei bloats that you would have removed. and root will be lost.
- upgrade to B013SP01 as mentioned above. Re-root by Superuser SU method mentioned in another post.
- thats it you are rooted and have SP01 too.

Does anybody know if the EMUI version has been updated? I am particularly interested in the multi-window feature present on the P8-Max.

I am using my X2 on the Three network in the UK too...and I am delighted with the signal consistency and speed especially on the 4G band. I had an X1 and Three had blocked data access on it!
I am with you, looking forward to the mutli-window feature to make maximum use of the 7" screen

I am coming from samsung Note II, I am very happy with my first Huawei device,Honor X2,
I have installed the above update it is working perfectly well no issues at all,i have always wanted double Tap to wake up on my devices.
You know of course that a long press on recents on screen button will give you a multitasking ability though just two applications.

multi window is not there in this update. its going to come with emui 3.1/android 5.1 update which ig going to come before this monthend.

How long did it take to do the update? Mine is stuck at 90% after running for about 15 minutes. I was on bone stock B013. Had to manually power off and back on. Nothing changed. I tried a factory reset then tried updating again. Stuck at 90%.

Do you have the notification on the lockscreen like lollipop?
I have a mate 7 Europe with emui 3.1 official with no root.
All the options for the notification is enable but it don't working.

I had similar problem after official update but factory reset helped.

I upgraded yesterday. I had problem when upgdad from SDcard. After instal apk moved in internal storage (and removed SD card!!!) Upgrade to 324 has been achieved. Notification on lock screen working you need set for each app separately. Other functionality works and I am satisfied

You have to set it individually. I just tested this just now and it works.
Go to Settings->Notification Center
Make sure the apps you want to see on the lock screen have 'lock screen.'

Same problem after updating a new Mate 7 to Lollipop and enabling Lock screen notifications per App but nothing happens. Even Google Hangouts is not found there. I've installed all apps freshly after the update, device is completely new. Any idea please?

Go to settings and enable on lock screen tab everything available

Seems to work with the Magazin Theme from EMUI Design App only.
But strange enough I can't find some Google Apps like Hangouts or GMail in the Notification Manager to be selected for Lock Screen Notifications?!

You have to enable the locks reenter access per app. Then it works fine.

Samsung Messages 5.0

Samsung Messages 5.0.11.8 is the only installable version of Samsung Messages so far for the Note 8. I wanted to start a thread in Hope's that the new version 5.0.20.16 could be extracted for us and properly installable by someone in the community.

Not going to happen without root. Best you can hope for is another 5.x version slips through with a signature the Note 8 will accept.

Then why do they get updated if Samsung's not gonna push system app updates to phone. Samsung never updates there system apps never. That's one reason not to get a Samsung they don't care about there old phones just about making new ones. My at&t note 8 never had system apps get updated ever only android version to outdated 8.0 and a new boot loader v4.

Actually, while they don't do very many updates via Galaxy Apps they do include them in their monthly security updates. That said, it's very rare to get new features. Samsung wants to be like Apple and convince the sheeple to buy their latest new phone to get new features.

Yes, this is a known issue. Try disabling the Samsung Message Service.

New version of Messages, 5.0.21.18 (posted June 14) installs and works fine on my Note 8.

I have Messages 5.0 installed and had to disable the messaging service 4.xxx with package disabler due to duplicate incoming messages coming in after a few days. Will I be able to receive an OTA correctly, or will I have to reenable the service and uninstall Messages 5.0?

Speak of the devil, I just got the OTA lol. I re enabled the message service and left messages 5.0 installed and all was fine!

I installed 5.0 (Pre-OTA) and I was getting SOME of my text's doubled, not all, so I left it installed.

Which Package Disabler are you using, looks to be a couple different ones there.

I didn't either, but it came back after a while... Like the first time I installed the new 5.0 two days ago as well.....

I am able to install Messages version 5.0.21.18 fine, but the new one released today 5.0.21.32 will not install.
Also, is anyone on 5.0.21.18 able to swipe the conversation to the right to initiate a phone call? I liked that in the stock version 4.4.11.4

Hey y'all - I'm running stock, non-rooted at&t-branded Note 8, build# R16NW.N950USQS5CRID (OTA came in today) and the stock Messaging app is running v4.4.30.42. I thought the latest OTA included v5+ ?
Any benefits to Messaging v5+ ? If so, I'll totally update from apkmirror, but don't want to run into any issues.....

Unless you're using PackageDisabler Pro, you'll get duplicate messages(Need to disable messages 4.0***)
I've actually started to use Android Messages, I can use Messages for Web and text right from my PC
