App to track battery use - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

What app are you using to track battery usage from last charged
Currently Samsung shows only data used per day (starting from 12 am).
Any lite waited app without using much battery.

Try AccuBattery from the play store.

I'm interested too but from what I read some of these battery tracking apps actually use a chunk of battery due to their very nature of always on tracking.
I know what your saying about the inbuilt Samsung options.
My benchmark is the phone gives me a day in relation to my usage habits.

Battery life VASTLY improved since update

unplugged 2 hours, wifi on, gps on, auto update on, facebook, played friut ninja for about 20 minutes, 1 game of cribbage, and been getting 4-5 email per hour, battery at 86%, before I would have been at 60% with that much use.
Anyone else seen battery life increases?
This. It's noon and I'm still at 80%. I used to have to set my phone to flight mode all day at work just to make it through the day. Now I can leave 3G on all day and not worry about it. That's the best part of the update in my opinion.
I was about to post this also. Yes, I have noticed a dramatic increase in battery life since I've updated. Now granted, it's been less than 24 hours but it is noticeable. I'll see how it goes over the next few days. But I agree, I am very happy with the update so far.
Which ROM we're you guys running before? FJ6 (stock)? A lot of users noticed better battery life after updating to some of the leaked builds (JH2 onwards)

I'm running completely stock-out-of-the-box since I got it.
I actually have worse battery life since updating. Have background sync off,GPS off, push off and lost 30% from full charge in 2 hours

I have noticed the same with all of the same settings as you
4h 45min since unplug.
Email push multiple times an hour, text messages, light internet use, light market use and 35 minutes of guns'n'glory. I am at 71%
Glad someone else noticed this
I'm a victim of the partial update but my battery drain has been nearly half! I've actually left live wallpapers on and can make it through the while day at the rate I'm going

6 hours 53 minutes since unplug and I'm at 23% battery. This is roughly on track with previous battery depletion, but today I've been doing heavier internet and Facebook use than usual. I think that, previous to this update, I would have had to charge by now. This is with background data and sync on, over wifi, with a combination of Google Listen, Music Player, and Pandora use.
The telling point is that screen battery use is about 10-12% lower than usual for this type of usage, at 54%. I've seen it as high as 70% on days when I'm playing around with the phone a lot.
I'm ready to call this an improvement.

My phone was at about 75% at around 8:00PM last night. It's currently 2:42PM now and it's only down to 25%. Granted, it was in sleep mode from around 12:30AM to about 7:00AM. But I did use it moderately last night and throughout the day today. So the battery performance has definitely improved for mine (stock with yesterday's update).
For those who have seen an improvement:
- Did you use a task killer pre-update?
- Are you using one now?

Unfortunately my battery life has been greatly decreased by the update. My phone is rooted, but the update installed without any trouble on the first try. Before the update the phone was fine between 9am and 1-2am without charging it at all. That's being on wifi most of the time, and maybe a bit of talking, e-mail, and rss reading. Once asleep I'd let it charge overnight. Typically Display used the most battery, usually about 50%.
Since the update I find that I need to charge the phone in the middle of the day. The first full day of the update I used the audio player for several hours, so I thought maybe that was it, but I've done that before without a major impact on the battery. Today I didn't use the audio player at all, and after 8 hours the battery is down to 26%.
According to the power usage information the largest consumer is Voice calls, at 29%. That was 11m 46s of call time. Looking at Juiceplotter, for a typical day at work before the update my battery dropped about 2% in 2 hours, with the phone on wifi, and otherwise idle. Today the phone lost 6-9% in 2 hours of being idle.
The last time I charged my phone was yesterday morning. I just plugged it in an hour ago at 15%. Thats like, 35 hours on a charge after moderate usage. Not bad. Much better than my old G1 heh.
I'm at 45 hours, still at 29%. Light usage, probably ~12 hrs in flight mode, but music player on for about 5 hrs, 5 min voice call, a few texts, some facebook/web. Still very impressive!
I've had slightly better battery life since the update.

Horrible Battery Drainage

I just checked my Battery Usage under about phone and here's my stats...
Cell Standby = 49%
Phone Idle = 34%

There are about a million battery threads floating around now, but anyway, welcome to the club. What I did, is I installed switchpro and have a toggle switch for turning the radio on and off. (You still get texts, calls, etc) But, you turn on the data when you need it. Been working great for me so far, and saving a lot of power that way.

No, you don't. I have all my sync's off though, so when I want my emails, updates, just toggle the switch, sync, then untoggle. I know it's a bit of a pain, but it's helping a LOT with battery.
The Wifi app appears to be constantly running even when set to "off", which prevents the CPUs from sleeping, resulting in battery drain.

This doesn't really say anything. Do you understand what those %s mean? In your case, of all the battery drain on your phone, 49% of it has been cell standby, 34% phone idle, and 18% display. It is entirely possible that in 5 hours of use, only 5% of the total battery life has been drained, and that is just the break down of what used that 5%. The point is, those % mean nothing.
To elaborate, a few devs, and many users, have noted that the battery drives for this phone are not good. I can promise something on your phone other than those 3 processes has used battery in 11 hours. I know no apps ever show up on my battery use, which is completely different than all other Android phones I've used. Something wrong with this phone is preventing Android from telling us where the battery is going.
As others indicated, try one of the other battery threads. Specifically, try using an app like "Wheres my droid power" to get a better idea of what is using all the power. That app showed me that WiFi calling was using the majority of my battery, at least beyond built in system processes that can't be avoided (like display, cell radio, etc).
11 hours? I would kill for that. On any of my previous android phones.

Fast draining battery after 1 week of use

I was very impressed with the battery life when I first got it. But now, after a week of use, I use to get around 24hr-35hrs of battery life from 100%. Now after checking the battery time, at 100%, it is reporting I will only get 12hrs now. What gives!??
I made sure that the apps that I do not want open on lock screen are closed.
The only new things I installed were games: Modern Combat 5 and Need for speed.
Should I calibrate the battery (let it drain and fully charge it up)?
Just wondering why now I am getting half the battery life that I use to get?
Mate 9 USA version

Sell the phone.
Just ignore the timer and use your phone normally. Those timers are never accurate. When you hit 10% check the SOT. I'm getting around 8h with B138 for example but your mileage might vary.
Just enjoy your phone and avoid waking it every 5 min to check the battery stats. I find people do this all the time with a new phone so it rarely manages to doze.

Thanks for the tip. And yea, makes sense to not wake it every 5 mins, which I find myself doing just to check the battery level.
I'll see how it goes, but like I said, I was getting great battery life, almost 2 days worth of use, but now, just only half a day. Will see how long it really does last me,
Is there a history log of screen on time or average stats?
Be little clever and think that you didn't have this 2 games before lol
I've been having the same problem! First week was incredible - I could go 12+ hours and still have 50% battery left. Now it seems to have gone down by about 50%. I've installed a few more apps as time has passed but nothing crazy - I'm carefully monitoring app power usage now to see if anything's hogging the battery. Testing now and noticed CNN app was at the top in usage since my last charge and I haven't even used it in that time. Just set it to auto-close after screen lock. Let's see if that helps...
I'm on B138 update, i get about 16-24 hours of battery life, i do factory reset after any update, i only backup my gallery, then after setting up the phone and downloading my apps, i go to battery > close apps after screen lock, close all apps except the ones i need which are 5 apps
Before i did that, i was getting terrible battery life 10-16 hours

Battery Life Discussion

With phones starting to ship now I figured I'd get the ball rolling with a battery life discussion thread. I'll be sure to update this post once I have the device and post my usage and everyone feel free to post theirs So far reviews have been pretty positive with battery life, so that's a +
Since I just got my phone I'll be posting battery stats after the first charge and then after a couple cycles. Although, I'm a heavy user so I never get anywhere near what reviewers or other people get.. I have multiple Google accounts syncing, and don't disable anything. Location always set to high accuracy etc..

It seems to be doing better than my Pixel XL on O so far.
After first cycle seems about par with my Pixel. My S8+ was better by a few hours.

Remember you can turn on the battery number in system ui tuning. I just got mine and I'm impressed
I got through the entire day (6am-12am) with 5hrs and a few minutes SOT after my first full charge, and I still had about 7% left when I put her on the charger... not too bad at all
3rd full day and I'm not impressed. Had to charge to make it through the day.

Here's how I did today, traveling with lots of areas of weak or no coverage. Streaming play music to the truck over Bluetooth for at least 2 hours. Few phone calls, some social media, bunch of texts... I'm happy with the results. Better than my last few phones.

The standby drain is very low. After being on for 12 hours without doing a whole lot, it still had 70% and an estimated 24 hours left.
Definitely better than my 6P.
I've been getting pretty damn good battery life from this device. I've never hit 6hours SOT before with any device I've ever owned and that's been quite a few

Battery life for my phone was great until recently. However, the charge hardly lasts one day with not much use. I had a full charge at 1PM and by 8PM phone was down to 30%. Battery usage said the "Google Play Services" used 30% over one hour. I did not install any apps or anything. Is that normal?

Try signing out of all Google services and accounts then sign back in. That's worked for some who've had play services eat their battery.

Same for me. I'm not sure if there's a solution yet. I tried the Magisk Module to optimize the google play services, but it doesn't work on the ph-1 ... it won't save the the setting for battery optimization.
I hope the next play services update will bringt the battery back.

My battery life is amazing 6-8+hrs sot. Seems like it gets better with each new update.
I am disappointed with standby battery drain. AccuBattery Pro app estimates screen off drain of 1.2% per hour. That means I am losing ~10% of battery overnight. Ditto for Android 9 battery optimizations and AI. I feel like my ancient HTC DNA had better standby performance.
I am not aware of any offending apps on my phone, obviously. Instagram ended up on the "restricted" list. That's the only FB related app I have.
I don't enjoy obsessively monitoring the phone, hunting for a combination of settings and apps that maximize battery life. I was hoping Google would take care of it. Needless to say I am not impressed.

General AccuBattery - S22 Ultra battery statistics

Hello.
I installed Accubattery some days ago to check my S22 Ultra (snapdragon) performance.
Since a few updates ago, It is not even reaching 5h SOT with 22h total combined use.
Everything on my phone is stock. Nothing done about "optimiziation". It doesn't make any sense to buy a flagship and use it as an entry-level phone.
My settings are:
- Mostly on Wifi
- FHD+ with 50% brightness and adaptve refresh rate
- No bluetooth or NFC
- No AOD
- Most notifications allowed
- No battery saving mode
Mostly use it for browing, social media and youtube.
Camera app is a battery draining beast when used.
To my surprise, the app shows my phone is around 4400mA of battery, and discharging performance is as follows. Has anyone ever used it?
All Samsung's should be optimized. 50% brightness is too high for indoor use; use manual brightness control and stay in the 30-40% range when possible. Cloud crap uses a lot of power in the background, Google backup Transport is a prime offender. 4G is more efficient for light bandwidth; make sure it's using 5G only for large data transfer bursts. If the download site is throttling data than 5G burning battery for nothing.
With 4400 mAh my N10+'s easily get 13 hours... and in actual usage they're only a fraction of second slower for most tasks.
I'm not pleased with Samsung today. No expandable storage makes you depended on cloud and/or external storage. A profound loss of balance and core functionality because of poor design. In part because Google scoped storage. I run on Pie and Q still. No 5G, variable refresh rate and the camera is less processor intensive.
That doesn't mean though that you can't improve your SOT dramatically.
This N10+ N975U/Pie I'm holding use to be a hot running hog, it's SOT was similar to yours... it sucked.
This is what it's doing today on a appropriately 3400 mAh derated battery that's nearing the end of its service life. A completely different animal and all modifications were done with a stock platform.
Until you put some serious effort into optimizing it you'll never know what it's full potential is...
You've only use the app for 7 charges. It's not enough data. Come back in a month to see where your battery health stands !

The Google Android bucket concept is a mess. Leave it on for 2 months and it still sucks. The results will be vastly inferior to one that was hand optimized. Google Android isn't that smart.
Manipulate the bucket states as much you like and on a fast phone you'll notice nothing. I played with it for months. It may work on Pixels but Samsung's are a much different animal.
If you actually tone down a hog you'll notice it within a day or less. Its going to take more insight than just flipping on global power management though.
I also have a SD s22 ultra (908e). I was getting terrible battery life. Get adb control app for PC and debloat everything you don't use ( i used uninstall option) I went from a shocking 4.5-5.5 hours sot to a consistent everyday 8-9hrs sot also make sure you put all apps that you don't need notifications instantly for in deep sleep manually.

In individual app settings disabling background data and battery activity doesn't invoke global power management.
Close out apps when done with them as some apps like Brave will continue to run in the background and can use a considerable amount of battery over the course of a day. Camera is another one to watch.
Use Device Care>storage>clean now as needed. The older 360 degree version worked better but should be firewall blocked if used.
Clear system cache; in general reboots do nothing that can't be done with the system booted other than the former. Needless reboots waste power.

Hey mate, may I ask which apps did you uninstall with ADB? I am worried to do stuff by my own because I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff, and I don't wanna end up with a brick instead of a smartphone. I would be really grateful if you would respond Thanks!
Also, it looks like you only had 7 sessions of charge and that too the phone wasn't charged to 100%. Charge it to 100% a few times and you will get a better estimate of your battery health. 4400mah seems too low.
Maybe 6ish hours on 5g with WQHD and Adaptive motion really aint that bad.
Why does accbattery estimate the battery size at 4885. Thought s22u had 5000mah battery?
