How to enable VoLTE or how to tell if it is using VoLTE? - Google Pixel 4a Questions & Answers

I just got the Pixel 4a and I'm trying to figure out if it is using VoLTE for calls. I am still on android 10 and my carrier is Red Pocket over the verizon network. I chatted with Red Pocket customer service and they said that they enabled VoLTE on my line.

I think a good indicator of you using VoLTE would be an "HD" tag sitting next to your call time counter (see attached). The only problem to have HD voice enabled for the given call, is that both you and your calling party have to have VoLTE on.

While on a phone call, try to do something like go to your phone internet browser and go to a website. If the 4g signal icon goes away and you have no data on the browser it is a probable you dont have volte. Make sure your wifi is off while doing this.

I tried this and when calling, the LTE status icon disappears and I can't access the internet.
Is there something on the phone I need to enable for VoLTE? I've poked around in settings and I can't find anything.

OP here. Thanks all. I contacted Red Pocket and found out that VoLTE was not enabled on my line, despite saying it was enabled in an earlier call. As soon as they enabled it, I rebooted the phone. Now the calls connect and the LTE status indicator stays on while a call is connected. I din'd have to do anything on the Pixel

VOLTE on rooted device?

Anyone know how to get VOLte working on their Note 5 while rooted?
It worked on my Note 4 using stock kernel, or an older version of Emotion kernel,
but haven't been able to use it yet with rooted Note 5. The call always fails before connecting.
VoLTE worked fine on my rooted N5 using 2 different kernels. Unfotunetly I get dropped calls when driving by certain parts of my area so I have is disabled.

Are you sure it was actually using lte for voice? The only reason I ask is that when I place a call with the 'use VoLTE when available' option checked, my phone always switches to 4g before connecting the call.
If I try making a call while in "Lte Only" network mode the call just ends instantly, as soon as I hit send.

With VoLTE enabled my phone stays on LTE when making a call (when LTE is available). With VoLTE disabled my phone will always switch to 4G when making a call & will switch back to LTE as soon as the call has ended.
VoLTE works fine for me if I'm stationary but when I'm driving through certain areas where LTE service is spotty I get dropped calls. I don't have that issue with it turned off.
This is exactly what I experienced before my phone was rooted also.

no wifi calling and voLTE on three on HTC U11

is there any way of getting this, three says its enabled, I see its available on S8 and people are using it, but seems like HTC U11 is neglected
On Three UK
WiFi calling only works if you're on a reasonably good 4g signal. In call settings, at the very bottom you should see "enhanced call service" with options "voice over lte" and "wifi calling". Enable them.

Huh? lol
This is SO wrong. WiFi calling is for people who are getting a bad signal over the mobile network. If you had a good signal, why would you want to call over wifi? If you have a limit on your account for voice calls, wifi calling will still count against that. It's not VoIP.
Okay further to this, I tried H3G rom on htc and US unlocked ( i have S-off).
Dont find the option of enhanced call service. I believe sim has to play part in that, as when I put this sim in oneplus 5T it did not show enhanced call setting but when i put EE uk sim settings magically appeared
Now I am making calls on 4G so i take it its VOLTE its working on its own. dont find option of wifi calling in rom itself
I had essential phone for couple of days, it had wificalling activated on the same sim and no VOLTE, such a shame. i cant have both in single device

Anyone enabled BT WiFi Calling with Pixel 3?

Has anyone been able to set up WiFi Calling using Pixel 3 on BT network (UK) ?
People report being able to do so with Pixel 1 and Pixel 2, but I just cannot get it working with my Pixel 3.
Anny advice/suggestions please?
Are you pay as you go or pay monthly?
That I'm aware of, Wi-Fi Calling is only available with EE and for pay monthly customers.
I know BT runs on EE network, but assuming it still works (which I'm not sure about), I would imagine they apply the same restrictions.
Anyway, I'm a EE PAYGo customer and still I do have the option to enable Wi-Fi Calling.
But still, I'm not sure it actually works.
Thanks matteventu, I am a monthly contract payer.
BT definitely DO offer wifi calling - but state that it is primarily iPhone and latest Samsung phones that they support.
Many report success with P1 and P2, so hoping P3 will be OK too....
I'm on EE contract and WiFi calling definitely works.

Just make a phone call. If you see the network switches to 3G/H, then you don't have VoLTE. If during the phone call you still see the 4G/LTE icon, then you have VoLTE.
(Of course, don't be connected to WiFi to make this test call if you also have Wi-Fi calling XD)
The question indeed is: how do I get proof my Wi-Fi calling works?
I know if you enable it in the settings, then if you go in Info on this phone you see that in "mobile network" that it's not connected to LTE/HSPA, but to "IWLAN" - that from I understood stands for Wi-Fi calling.
The question is. I can enable Wi-Fi calling in the settings, and I do see IWLAN as mobile network type for calls (in place of LTE/HSPA) if I'm connected to Wi-Fi. But does this ASSURE me that I'll be using Wi-Fi for calls? Because I am a EE PAYGo customers and according to their info, I am not supposed to be able to use Wi-Fi calling. So, because I have the options it means I am using it, or the option just shows for everybody and if I'm a PAYGo customer even if I have it enablerd, it won't actually work?
Does anybody can think of any test I can do to see if it works?
Thank you!

Thanks for the tip ! Was so used to the volte icon on the s8 that I had no idea how to check .
Allow me to return the favour .
Slide down the notification pane all the way to the bottom and if you have WiFi calling it'll have your network name + WiFi calling next to it .
Screenshot for reference

Ohhh I see. Then that's why I didn't know if it worked, because I never saw that "EE Wi-Fi Calling" and didn't even know it was supposed to be there with Wi-Fi enabled *and* actually working ?
Thank you, now I'm 100% sure EE stands to their terms lol and I have no Wi-Fi calling as PAYGo customer ?
Finally it works fine. I had to chat with BT Mobile and they had to activate it for me.

Asus Zenfone 6Z wifi calling activation

Here are the steps to activate Jio wifi calling on Asus 6Z. You need to enter code *#*#3642623344#*#* and this will activate special menu under Network settings. You need to deactivate Volte/Enhanced calling switch first then activate wifi calling and after getting wifi calling symbol again reactivate Volte switch. You need to repeat this after every restart of phone.

That's how these cheat code works. It does the job in background. After entering, it should just go back to dialer without having press to call button. Then, check in settings.
There is wifi call in the settings, but there is no icon in the status bar after I turn it on. I follow the video

Does your operator support wifi calling? In India this method works perfectly
There are Wifi calling functions in the settings, and the operations described in the videos and posts are also followed. There is no wifi call icon, and there is no attempt to call. Is it not supported in the Hong Kong version? Although this function is available, it is invalid.
Wifi calling already enabled on this Android Q, no need to d this..I am already using it
dial *#*#4636#*#* you will easily get WiFi enabled service
Does it really work though? After doing this, it refuses to make a call if you say wifi calling only which makes me think it still needs the mobile carrier to have a signal for calls.
Service is t-mobile fyi.
It is working flawlessly in India on Jio network. I have demonstrated in Video also

It only works in India (maybe some other places?). They don't seem to care about the US.
According to one of the mods on the Zenfone forum:
"When it comes to features like VoWiFi, VoLTE and so on. It's about testing, paying fees and signing contracts."
I don't think they care enough about the US (they don't really push the phone here) to pay the money. Don't hold your breath. Probably need to go custom ROM.
Custom ROMs didn't allow it to work on TMobile either. Glad some can actually use it though.
Volte doesn't work in the USA

How to enable VoLTE for LG V50 (Korean U+)

How to enable VoLTE on the korean U+? I've checked with my carrier and they confirmed that VoLTE service is active on my SIM. However I can't find any option to enable VoLTE in phone settings. I've only seen a VoLTE call quality option in phone settings - not sure if this means that it's already active. The status bag logo also shows just LTE when mobile data is enabled - no indication of VoLTE.
If you have mobile data showing LTE and it does not change to 3G (or something else) when you make or receive a call, then you are on VoLTE. That is my general understanding of it.

Ah ok. It seems you are not on VoLTE then. Sorry, I don't know how to activate it though.
i have the sprint version but am currently on tmobile network which (was switching me to 3g) during voice call or txt msg.
now that tmobile has been taking down 3g (and they are working on a tower in my area) i do not even see 3g symbol in notifications anymore. i can complete the call and there is no lte symbol or 3g symbol but call completes but can not use data still.
when i hang up i see lte and can use data (browse the web)
the funny thing is before i went to tmobile i had metro pcs in this area which uses tmobile network and i never had a volte problem so you know this is software and they just want us to buy more phones.
this exact phone worked on metropcs with volte no problem.
