Googleplay on Chinese version? - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Questions & Answers

I recently received my Fold 2, Chinese version (I live in China), and while it claims to have google services, there is no google play on it (google apps don't come preinstalled here). I've tried going to the online (browser) google play store to download it but it won't recognize my fold 2 device. I also searched the native samsung app store, but it's all chinese apps (grrrrr, I wish I had a US version, I hate all these chinese apps), so it's not available.
Can someone tell me how to get google play on my Fold 2 Chinese?
Thanks a bunch.
Edit: I had hoped to buy an HK version of the phone, which I couldn't. Is there an HK Rom i could flash (I looked at the ROM threat but didn't find any mention of it), and when flashing these ROMs, do they still receive the Android updates? I flashed one for an old HuaWei I had and it never once received an update.

Bump. Only question I really care about is how can I get Google play on my phone. Anyone?

Look at sammobile.com
There you can download and flash over Odin. Check first if it's compatible with your device. Otherwise flash back to your chinese Rom. Do this all on your own risk.

I found the apk itself, installed it, and it worked fine. Should have done that in the first place instead of looking for a way to make the device show up in the google play online list. Thank God I did that instead of flashing it, in which I probably would have ended up bricking it in one way or another, haha. Thanks just the same :good::good:

Is this correct upgrade for my Honor 6 Plus

Hi, can somebody give me a little help updating my Huawei Honor 6 Plus. I really cannot afford to brick this phone but as it stands it is not much good to me as I need a phone for when I am delivery driving. If I cannot fix this I will have to sell it and lose lots of money :crying:
Reason for upgrade: Google App or any voice assist will not work.
Details:
Model: PE-TL10
Android 4.4.2
Emui: EMUI 3.0
Software Version: PE TL10V100R001CHNC00B260
Custom Version: CUSTCHNC00D260
What I have found out about updating this phone:
On a German forum I found somebody with what looks like the same phone as me, they were given this advice and link…..and it worked for them.
“You have a Chinese version, the H6 + for this is not suitable, the above-mentioned firmware.
For the Chinese version the update but is already available. See here” http://emuirom123.dbankcloud.com/PE_EMUI3.1_Android5.1_5.10.1.zip?rid=1766
I have a few questions:
Is this the correct upgrade for my phone?
This download is very unstable and keeps crashing, is there a better place to download.
Is there a newer download as this download was posted on 20/10/15.
Will this upgrade mess up any UK settings like unlocked, imei, language?
Many thanks for any help
I managed to download the file, it extracts ok. I have uploaded it to Google drive just in case somebody else needs it or would like to check it is the correct update for my phone.

I am having the same china set and trying to move away from it.. no need to unlock bootloader for this? pls share link to download
I also have the Chinese version of PE-TL10. After a while, I was a bit annoyed because of all the Chinese apps... So, I tried several updates from the SD-card, which failed because they where not for this Chinese version. However, the phone always restarted and was fully usable, but not updated. So , I found this site: http://emui.huawei.com/cn/plugin.php?id=hwdownload&mod=detail&mid=125
I updated to a version B351 last year, and suddenly HiCloud worked. Yesterday, I updated to the version you can find in the provided link. Now it works even better with Lollipop, and with some new functions too. Batterytime was worse with the 351, and seems much better with this last version, named 5.1.6.1.1. I think this is a final version, the B351 was beta. Just put in the DLOAD folder on your SD card.
I recently came home from a holiday in the Philippines, and it worked like a charm with 2 SIM cards. BEar in mind that most chinese downloads are slow... I can not guarantee that the file in the link will update from your version, as I first installed a beta(351). If you feel safer, search for the B351 version, and install this first. However, when using local update, my phone has never bricked the 4-5 times I used the wrong update file. The phone is branded China, so it seems only Chinese updates work.
Hope this helps..

Same for me China variant.
If you are on the stable (out of the box) firmware you will only get 4.4.x.
I flashed the developer Rom was L5 and it got updated OTA to M6. Seems find except for some notifications bug as it was not a clean upgrade. I'm trying to fix the issue..

Gigaset ME fixed! - Thanks to heineken78

I bought a Gigaset ME from China in July, for those ones who know, there are no google apps on any of the Chinese phones made for China market. Mine is no exception.
I wanted to install google play store, I think the phone must be rooted in order to do that? Have to make the installed play store app a system file. However Gigaset phones cannot be rooted the normal way, with normal rooting apps such as kingroot, iroot kingoroot etc. I always tried to find methods on google but no luck, until 3 days ago, I found heineken78's Youtube video on how to root Gigaset ME/Pro.
I don't know if I am allowed to post a link? But this link is on the same website so I would guess it might be ok?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/gigaset-pure-pro-root-unlock-t3477753
I tried heineken78's method and sucessfully installed a custom recovery for my Gigaset ME! Please check out his method on the link above.
I was too happy and I flashed some gapps by myself...ended up a messed up system...a lot of system apps were not working. I tempered with the recovery and bricked my device...Gigaset does not provide any official ROMs for downloading...I thought my phone was done, maybe I must buy another phone instead.
AND...this man, heineken78 came to help! I added him on Skype and he showed me how to unbrick the device step by step, patiently. He flashed the components, recovery and boot, eventially my phone came alive again! Oh and I forgot to mention, he gave me his system backup file so I could put an EU version of ROM on my phone to use proper Android, and most importantly, gapps! The Chinese version of ROM sucked big time...too many unwanted junk apps!
The process lasted around 7 hours I guess, if not more? When we finish it was like 2am for him, 1am for me...I would like to thank him for all the work he has done to revive my phone, and sacrifice the sleeping time of course...
My phone is working 100% now, actually better than before by having the updated ROM hahaha...all credit goes to this man heineken78!
many thanks to Heineken78! He was my rescue and repaired my phone! Now it's working fine! :good::good::good:
cheers to Ukraine!
I order one because today is good promotion for this smartphone. Is any guide how to make fully working phone step by step?
i bought from banggood and it came with playstore
I bought in China and the rom was full of bloatware and no play store...rooted the phone and installed the EU ROM...runs perfectly!
I need its firmware
My Gigaset S55-6 is soft bricked and restarting at logo, I need firmware plz, someone have its read plz?
I need help too
Can u pls help me dude

Simple
Do a Google search for:
"Custom ROMs for (your model number)"
If that doesn't give you any results then it probably doesn't exist.

I don't know.
Try doing a google search for:
"How to install google play services and google Playstore on (your model number)"
If it can be done that should give you something to go by.

Yes, the point of the thread is to ask questions. What you're failing to realize is that most people DON'T search before asking, they typically come here wanting someone to hand them an answer for their convenience. You are also failing to realize that not ALL questions have an answer.
Most things have been asked before, especially the kind of question you asked, those questions have usually been answered somewhere here at XDA. That is why I told you what to search, to find where it has already been asked and for what you're asking its gonna have to be a specific answer that has already been asked or done on your specific device because what you are trying to do depends on your device model, all android devices are different. This means that there are no "standard" methods for anything here, if a search for how to do it on your model turns up no answers then the method to do what you want is not "known" for your model.
Part of searching here is not only to find where and how it has been done on your device model, it's also to find where others may have asked this question about your device model or not and the answers those people got, whether it can be done or not. Sometimes you will discover it has been asked and not solved, this typically means that it hasn't been done yet or figured out for your model, in that case it leaves you no choice but to experiment to figure it out yourself and that is done by searching to see how it is done on other devices. If you've tried the methods that have been used on other devices and it isn't working then that means you haven't searched/experimented enough or it may mean that it can't be done on your model at all, not all devices CAN.
Look for where others with your model have tried and failed, look for the things they've tried and it will start to narrow down your options of what works and what doesn't. More than likely, others with your device have tried before and came here to get experienced people to help them, those experienced people may have tried to help them with no success. Have you found no information where others have tried? Have you found no information on what has been tried but didn't work? Did any of them find a solution? If not then you'll have to figure it out yourself like everyone else here does by trial and error, and remember, what works on one device doesn't always work on a different device.
Hey - Having the same issue here. Been researching on Google for weeks about this issue and tried lots of involved methods for getting Google Play Services (and then the rest of the Google suite) installed and working on this exact phone (Honor Y5II - CUN-AL00) with no luck. I'm thinking the only way is by flashing the phone with a different ROM.
It's not the case that I haven't searched first, it's that asking here is my last resort. I don't see what good all the "google it" preaching above did... This is a difficult phone to research.
Are there any custom ROMs for this phone? Are there any open source ROMs for similar Honor phones that I could modify to work with this phone? Is there another way to get Google Play Services to work after installing it on this phone? Thanks for any help.
Best,
~ Tom
I live in China. I just bought this phone a few days ago, since I broke my old S6 and waiting for it to get fixed. I haven't figured out any way to install Google services either... close I got was I had play store working but it would crash when I hit the install button for any app.
I would hope that there are some custom roms out there for this phone, because I think that's the only way to get gapps working. They don't seem to be supported by the stock rom. At the very least, I would like a custom recovery so that I can create nandroid backups.
I think this phone is only sold in China so I'm not surprised there's not much support on it. Btw I've been searching google for days now, with no luck, and that's the only reason I'm writing here. Maybe Baidu will have some solutions. I guess it'll be a good way to practice my Chinese
Tried but no success
I tried and bricked my phone in the process
Do u by any chance have the twrp recovery image for this mobile the thing is I somehow found the original official ROM for the phone but the issue I am facing is boot loop and the mobile cannot go in recovery mode
The only mode it currently boots is fastboot.
Any help would be appreciated Huawei cun al00
try that link, it might fix your problem?

Is this bricked

I seem to be in and endless loop of hope and despair with my Samsung Galaxy S7 - can anyone shed any light on this?
Long story short, I was on Android 8 and wanted to roll back to 7 (using a ROM I took from Sammobile) because I needed a previous configuration of Google Play Music for my Smart Watch to work. I used Odin to flash the phone and it declared the procedure as FAILED. Now I can't seem to even flash it back to version 8. It is just stuck on the below three screens, no matter what I do.
At this point I would happily just upgrade it to whatever firmware will work and not have a £500 brick on my hands!
Please note the images are at h t t p s ibb.co slash the below (sorry this forum doesn't allow me to post them as links!)

OK i've seen them, don't panic.
What region / country are you
What network are you on?
p.s. YOU CANNOT DOWN GRADE OFFICIAL FIRMWARE
I'm with O2 in the UK.
I'd be happy just to get anything installed on it at this point. At least then it's useable.
Whenever I try a new flash (even with Oreo obtained from Sammobile) it just gets nowhere. The COM shows connected (I have the USB drivers installed and have ditched Kies) and I browse to the extracted AP file then click start it either goes away indefinitely not showing failed or success or (with another AP file e.g. for older firmware) it just says Failed.
Thanks very much.

Ok you have to down load the firmware that was on the device from O2, so download O2 Oreo from sammobile or the unbranded BTU firmware and flash with Odin. This should give you access to the device but the google account needs to be bypassed and then wiped by following this method https://www.progeeksblog.com/frp-bypass-apk/
Ok I'll give that a go. Wow pretty detailed guide there. I've not heard of the frp bypass requirement. Another thing to get my head around. Why can't phones just be like PC's. Image them, clone and be done!
Thanks again will let you know how I get on.
Restoring to the BTU firmware posted here forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/galaxy-s7-flat-oreo-firmware-download-t3785309 worked! In my case I didn't even need to run the frp-bypass-apk. Turns out that my phone was restored to exactly as it was before I attempted to downgrade so I even have my data back.
Thanks so much for helping me out!
Brilliant. Now to save yourself a world of pain in future turn on OEM unlocking in development options.
Just a couple more questions if you don't mind?
1) What is OEM unlocking
2) Do you know of any way to "roll-back" my version of Google Play Music? I am currently running version 8.14.7427-1H and would love to return to an earlier one since it handles the Android Wear playlist differently.
Thanks!!

Well there's some settings on the phone itself which, when you mess up trying to flash etc makes life a whole lot easier to bring your phone back to life. A good explanation of OEM is here https://www.quora.com/Whats-an-OEM-unlock-in-Android
With regards to rolling back Play music yes you can almost always roll back an updated app either by uninstalling the update via settings>apps or finding an earlier version of the .apk file online by simply searching for it in google.
When downloading .apk files, to be able to install you have to enable "install from unknown sources" settings>security>unknown sources.
Hope this helps
Brilliant. Thanks I will give that a go.

Need help with custom rom etc

Okay so there's a few things I need to go over for this.
The main issue I have is I'm not able to install magisk. I only want it so I can hide my root/custom ROM from pokemon go so I can still play the game. I have a Galaxy S7 UK locked to Vodafone carrier. When I was first rooting I followed a guide on tenorshare (I can't post links as I just signed up on here and don't have 10 posts. A google search of "root s7" should come up with the result from this site. It's a guide with pictures.)
I think this was my mistake though. I was dumb and didn't make a backup of my stock ROM in any way so once I installed this there wasn't really any going back.
Now you might ask, why not just download the stock ROM and flash it with Odin? Well, I looked around on sammobile, looking at Galaxy S7 G930F - my specific model number, but couldn't find a stock ROM to flash. Even the most recent one listed gave an error, then on my phone it showed the error about trying to flash a v2 bootloader to a v4 bootloader, which obviously cannot be done.
So then I bit the bullet and installed The Galaxy Project custom ROM. Everything is working completely fine apart from the aforementioned issue with Pokemon GO.
Magisk fails to install with the boot.img already patched by something, but I can't *unpatch* it because I don't have stock. I did some research and learned that you can use suhide-lite to do the same job, however it doesn't work at all even with setting Pokemon GO to be hidden away.
I just want to know how I'm supposed to go about getting magisk installed, or how to get back to stock without an actual backup. I'm new to rooting and stuff but I'm not new to tech modding, so I did a lot of research before doing all this. The sad part is I seem to have messed up even despite looking things up.
If they're necessary, my phone is currently running Android 8.0.0 Oreo even when it was on stock.

I stated in OP that I already tried getting it from sammobile however it wasn't working, explained why in the OP.
Ok Batman so this is your firmware with boot loader V4 on Sammobile >>here<<
However it takes a while to download with a free account.
You can get Samfirm Tool from this thread but make sure it's version 0.3.6.zip, then read the tread on how to use it, it's easy. >>here<< Ignore the message at the top of the post about it not working etc, it still works. SamFirm is much faster then Sammobile.
I will also tell you that you can install BTU (UK Unbranded) if you don't use any Vodafone crap installed on your phone. Still be locked to Voda though. Now then there you go.
Is there apps like sgs screenbooster for better sensitivity??also who use sgs?any reccomended settings for this app??
