I have a load of third party edge panels that I use on my Galaxy devices, but it seems that the only ones you can use with the Z Fold2 are the pre-installed ones. I really need a calendar one but there are none coming up in the Galaxy Store.
This is puzzling, why would Samsung not allow third party ones? Unless I am missing something?

Same problem here. Hope a firmware update will fix this.

I have to say, the built in edge panel for Smart Select is welcome!
This was one S-Pen feature I missed on my Note 20
.
I use and app called Panels. It allows for 1 panel each for apps (which includes shortcuts, widgets, system apps, etc), contacts, & widgets all for free. For $1.99 you get a total of 10. This app has made my phone a DREAM I can separate work apps from home apps and/or vert from horz or whatever - 1 set up for front screen 1 for main screen

It's in addition to it. I use both. Samsung Edge for "paired apps" and then this app for customized edge panels

Hey there,
does anybody know a shortcut to switch between my launcher screens?
I tried it by using tasker, but there you can just switch to your home screen.
It would be great, if I could create an app or a shortcut that is linked (for example) to screen number 5 etc.
Tanks for your replies.

What launcher are you using.
Most launchers have this option built in.
I have been using spb mobile shell, which is very eye appealing. A tad expensive at $15, but I feel it was worth it. Runs smooth on all of my devices.
As for a free launcher, go launcher is very nice as well.
Depending on your launcher, you should be able to either punch our radio your home key to view all screens on one to choose from.

I have been using the device for a while right now and I saw a lot of topic about people talking about rooting the device. the question is, is it worth rooting? I don't actually see the need for that. So, if anyone can point out some major reason for rooting for me please?

I rooted mine only because I couldn't write to extSD as I bought it for reading eBooks which would be stored in extSD. I also freeze indexservice which drained the battery. Adaway is also another good reason to root.

It's totally subjective; if you don't see a need then don't worry about it. Sites like this though exist in part because there are many who do have a need/desire to take things further than stock is able to go.
Reason's for me to root include:
Freezing of stock applications I don't want loading at any time (stock browser, stock email, e-meeting, web-ex, group play, knox, magazine widgets, stock music app, netflix, ny times, remote pc, screen saver, side-sync are all frozen using titanium backup on my device).
Installing Xposed Framework to customize the tablet - disabled youtube ads, customized multi-window menus, per application display density/resolution control for greater leverage of screen real estate, status bar tweaks and notification tweaks to name a few)
Full greenify support through Xposed framework - ability to hybernate applications to keep memory use low and maximize battery life.
Button savior application - ability to quickly access home/back/menu buttons from the side of the tablet in landscape instead of having to use the built in capacitive ones.
Titanium backup - ability to keep a backup of my last couple of versions of each application so that should an app update produce results that i don't like I can easily revert to an older version.
As has been stated, allowing for write access to external microSD.
Just a few tweaks I've added to my tablet. I continue to experiment with xposed modules as time goes on. All subjective "needs".
Every reason listed below is why I need root on my VZW Tablet.

I rooted it to use adaway, xposed with wanam xposed module and to uninstall bloatware.
Don't forget about changing to what we're font you want.
Really, if you live to tinker, you have to root. If you are just a user (nothing wrong with that) then rooting may not mean anything to you.

Okay.. Can I borrow this thread a bit?
Can you change overall colour theme of NP? I have thought of buying one (LTE Model) and I just hate how it looks when settings, "drop down" notification bar etc.. are on white background. Is it possible change those to black like all AMOLED phones / tablets have?
Thanks.

Nope. With xposed framework you can install wanam module to ATTEMPT to do it. I say attempt because try as I might I could not change the color of the volume slider background. I posted a screenshot of my issue in the wanam thread but am not sure if it will be addressed in an update soon as I am not sure the developer has the means to look into it. We shall see, it's not like that module is updated frequently since it takes a lot of effort to find the settings in various versions of roms. If I had one complaint about the note pro it would be that the quick settings tiles and notification pull down is far too wasteful of screen real estate to the point that it's shameful. Tiles are huge on it and with the sliders extended one has to scroll frequently in landscape mode.

Not really, but with rooting, you will be able to install themes. There is currently one very interesting theme available for the Note 10.1, I am hoping a port may eventually become available for our device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687087
While the theme is "busy" compared to the Pro's generic white everywhere idea, it does harken back to the early days of Android hacking and the interesting icons which appeared. I'd probably give it a go on my Pro if it became available.
I too would like to theme my tablet. I like the look of some experia stuff quite a lot.

Has anyone tried to force it into tablet mode? I used to get a dropdown bar like the one on the note pro if I lowered my dpi on my note 2. Just in the middle. If you lowered it far enough and used a patch ui.apk you could get a tablet style menu bar on the note 2 (man I miss that)

Here the video:
Please Rate this app on Play store, thanks so much!
If you have suggestion or feedback, please let me know.
Please join this community then folow the link in the sticky post to help me test new feature, thanks!
Some issues:
Accessibility service can cause lag on some device when use Chrome, this happen to all application that use accessibility service as you can see in this thread . If the lag is too extreme please disable the Swiftly switch accessibilty service, all feature still available except the navigation (home, back).
If you return to home screen and then launch an app, it won't be launched until about 5 seconds after going home. This is beacause Android do not let any service launch apps before 5 seconds has pass from return to home screen.
Sorry
I just edit the post

Yes, it show list of 6 recent app and let you switch between them.

Thank you for the good app! I noticed several features (out their absence), which hold me on Switchr instead moving to your app.
1. I could put Switchr a not higher, 1/3 from the top of my phone. Your app is possible to put only in the center. It's impossible to lift it a bit higher saving the length of a sensitive zone. That is a problem.
2. I have root and prefer to kill app from the switchr if it misbehaves. With your app I cannot.
3. In switchr I could see actively running apps and recent apps which are not longer in the memory. With your app I cannot see it.
Unlike Switchr your app is quicker, more responsive. I like it. And your idea with favorites is really great. Thank you for the good job and your hard work!

The best way is to implement this opportunity and to explain users in settings under what conditions these features work (root, OS version, XPosed Unrestricted Task module).

Thanks for your feedback. I primarily make this app for non root user, as this app growing I will consider add more function for root user.
About position of the edge you can set to Right-top or Left-top in each edge setting so you can save the centre zone.

Did this app work on Lolipop and above? As I know from lolipop I can't use the same code to get recent app like befor, and that why swichr can't get recent app unless you have Xposed module UnrestictedGetTasks.
I have a nexus 6p and before that Note 4 - neither of which were rooted. So 6 and 5.1.1
With that said, it was just a launcher and didnt access recent apps. I guess you need if for that?

Yes, as I know, from lolipop, I need Usage stat to access recent apps.
My app use that permission only for that, as you can see, it doesn't ask for any internet permission.
Some bugs
Hey love the app.
But noticed a couple of bugs on my Note 4. The show notification does not bring down the notification shade. And back sometimes does not come up. It takes multiple tries it seems like I have to push my finger off the target area to get a haptic feedback and for the back command to register.
Continue the great work.
Nice! Just installed it
lollipop here, it got stuck for me and I had to restart couldnt click any app or dismiss it
Seems like a great idea for large screen phones too where its hard to use with one hand. Will give it a go on my Nexus 6P and report back!
I know from pre-nougat days, the Samsung dual screen function was great.
I could have 2 apps open at the same time. Well the majority of apps.
While at the same time, I could have a pop up of other apps as well.
Does the s8 and s8+ retain all that after the OS nougat update?
Because, right now I'm suffering with my Xiaomi mi mix without dual screen.
I'd hate to buy the s8 and find out it's not like the note 5 for example.
Plus. I saw a YouTube review where the guy says that if you've got 2 apps open, the one you're not currently in, will not update. So if you've got Google maps open and what's app. And you're active in the what's app, the maps window won't update till you click on it.
That's a huge issue for me.
I was able to test the s8 today
Theres a feature that wasn't there in previous note phones:
The ability to lock an app on top.
Or open two apps but pressing the home button will disable dual screen.
But if you lock an app, pressing the home screen doesn't disband the dual screen.
A feature lost from the note series is the ability to resize either of the screens at will.
The smallest one window will go is about a third of the screen.
If you try to make it smaller, it closes that window.
Does this matter?
Yes. To people who want an app open for audible reasons like listening to music. If you're listening to music, you would want to make it small as you're not looking at it.
You retain the ability to have pop up windows as well.
But now 2 pop up windows are grouped into a single floating icon. Neater than the note with multiple floating circular icons.
I also downloaded apps I use in dual screen like:
Google calendar
GReader
Telegram
Facebook
mx player
Instagram
Only Instagram didn't allow for dual screen or pop up.
Which is weird because Instagram is possible in dual screen on note 5.
Additionally:
The stock calculator app works in dual screen. Which is nice because on my note 5, the stock calculator only worked as a pop up not in dual screen.
It looks like Samsung has retained the majority of dual screen features with the move from proprietary dual screen you android OS dual screen
I'm thrilled because I use dual screen & pop-up apps continuously throughout the day.
One of the reasons of spent the last 6 years exclusively using Samsung note.
From Note 1 in 2011 to note 5. Was just going to get the note 7 but they started exploding.
So I got a mi mix.

Widgets running on the cover screen is only possible if the app pretends to be Samsung Health. The criteria for the Samsung settings app to show an app in the widget list is for the app to have a widget with a category of '2048' and the app to be a system app or have the Samsung Health package name.
Full apps can run on the cover screen without anything like this though. The second screen is seen as a second display in Android. The reason this app requires a custom widget to launch the custom app is because the second display is only activated when the phone is closed, so something on the cover screen must launch the app for it to appear on the screen - I use the widget for that.
There is another method, however. It's not shown in this app because I only found it a few days ago, but it's the intended way to show things on the cover screen and is the same way the camera preview works. There's an example of it here: https://github.com/CarudiBu/SubUI-mirror. Using Android's presentation mode, the display is woken up even when the phone is open and an app running on the main screen can show something on the cover. If an app starts showing something on the cover screen with presentation mode and the phone is closed, what it was showing remains on the screen.
Thanks for that!

Sounds like it could be used similar to the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate rear display with some sort of management app.
I also started messing around with the outer screen and noticed you could launch other apps that would then display inside it from the spoofed Samsung Health widget.
I started putting together a launcher to access all my apps without opening the screen. The only caveat seems to be that the keyboard will not display.
Always impressed how quickly, "man I wish my phone did this" goes to "ayyyy" with people like you. For anyone interested, emulators with a bt controller makes for a great stealth gaming device. Is there anyway you can flip the outer screen so it's either upside down or portrait? Maybe even with accelerometer support? Also would it ever possibly work while keeping Samsung health installed? Thanks for the great app, gave this phone the best missing feature.
Please release the app on Samsung Galaxy Store
It would be much better.

You have to replace Samsung Health to do what could loosely be considered an exploit. That wouldn't go over well.
Sorry and thank you in advance. I can't seem to change widget to my own personal widget via settings cover screen widget. I unistalled Samsung health and downloaded correct file.. c I uld u tell me what I'm missing?
I've successfully installed it and it works perfectly. But how can I change the WebPage? At the moment I just can read reddit.
As for widget ideas: did anyone make a voice recorder already? I'm a journalist, so recording interviews without needing to open the phone would be nice. Also, I think the cover display would be just great for the needed interface (start/pause/stop recording buttons, one to play the recording, save/delete recording buttons, and visual audio waves).
