Gsi and twrp? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hey guys, anyone tried to flash gsi?
Seems like new twrp has crippled the option to flash gsi
It took away system slot and added super and super image nonsense.

Flash xiaomi eu mi mix 2s twrp through fastboot(https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850507462), wipe and flash the system image to system.
You can just flash the system image through fastboot, but custom recovery is just more convenient.
Report back.
did you try it ? how much worse is the camera?
Anyone compiled kernel? Custom kernel?
The Android P version has the 4.9.84 but I don't remember if is the same of the MIUI stable, in my opinion the photos looks better with the google camera

Don't know, in DP2 there's only the snapdragon camera but you can install the google one via play store.
It haven't the nexus/pixel features like automatic HDR but it still works better then MIUIs one

I'm on it too, but I installed the gsi on my LeEco Le Max 2 with a snapdragon 820, it's not so smooth on it but its way more appealing, the stock android p is so much more beautiful its. mesmerizing to say the least, so I wondered if anyone tried and saw whether it works or no and with what bugs!!

Are there other magisk root options than flashing it with twrp?
Cause I will OEM unlock it right away so I must not delete my data later and without magisk I can't pass safety net
Unless there's a wrinkle or 2 that causes a hiccup, is not expect for at least 2-3 weeks from when they get it so 3 weeks or so from now I'd guess.
Should be sooner than later...

If you get a copy of the stock kernel, you can patch it then use fast boot to flash.

OnePlus: side effects of an unlocked bootloader / custom rom

The OnePlus 7 will be my first OnePlus device, not going for the Pro as it isn't worth the extra money IMO.
Anyway
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/help/oneplus-6-rooting-disadvantages-t3797477
Having read the above thread...
I assume the Widevine L1 to L3 "problem" also applies to the OnePlus 7 (Pro).
But I can live with that since I really want adblock on my phone.
All my previous phones have been HTC devices, where - if you had installed a custom rom - could still update the phones firmware by flashing a zip via fastboot/hboot. These zip files only contained the firmware, recovery, bootloader,... but didn't touch the system partition, so you could keep using your custom rom afterwards without any issues.
Since I know that the stock OS on OnePlus devices is very good, I am not sure if I will be installing a custom rom anytime soon.
However I would still like to know if the same is possible on these devices?
Judging on what has been possible on previous OnePlus phones, yes, you should be able to flash firmware only separately when using a custom rom.
You know you''re in the wrong forum? You want to be here.

It is confirmed. as in OP6T, at least in my device: 9.5.4 GM1913.
Additionally I would want to raise that, possibly, digital wellbeing was disabled as well while on unlocked OP7P.
Could someone confirm it with Locked Bootloader?
Thanks
Yes, I can confirm that digital well being is disabled after unlocking the boot loader while it was working when I still had it locked.

just purchased my first OnePlus device.

Hi guys.
Finally bit the bullet and got my first ever OnePlus device, the 7 pro. After being a Samsung fan forever, I thought I would give something else a try.
Is there any tips, ideas ect I should know about that every OP user should know?
Let me know, thanks ?

Awesome! Thank you, the alert slider was the first thing I come to love instantly.
May I ask what developer preview is?
Also I need to buy a adapter as I am from Australia and the plug is American, so I can't plug it into my wall plug lol.

You can check some threads here about Developer preview (Android Q). I haven't done mine because of busy work schedule.
I don't know either where to get a plug, your best bet is a plug converter or check OnePlus website.

Same scenario as myself, mine came in on Tuesday.
Also check out the OnePlus community forums , lots of posts there and things to learn.
What I have learned in the 4 days of using the op7pro is that there are not many of any options for tweaking unless rooted. Unlike my s10p which wasn't rooted and had thousands of fonts for example and substratum and hex support.

I also just purchased my first oneplus. Previous devices being samsung, sony, htc. I modded all my previous devices and since this is a new brand for me, i guess i am a little lost on some details. I read up on all the guides and so on and i think i understand on the processes of bootloader unlocking, twrp and magisk root. I now need to have my "uh-oh" knowledge before moving forward. My first question is my device is a 1910 device aka Chinese, but i am running OOS and i read that as my phone carries the GM21AA build, i am able to flash India/US/Global versions. As i understand it, to do manual OTAs, i am to take the OTA files from the thread here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/oneplus-7-pro-global-repo-oxygen-os-t3930585 and put it in the download folder and i can manually update it through settings. My question is can i flash a global or indian build on my preexisting Chinese build OOS? Also will it be possible to upload bootloader and all the other stuff if i update to the latest OOS? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

A 1910 (China) phone will run Hydrogen, EU OOS, or Global OOS. Take your pick. Most people would probably chose Global.

It is my understanding the phones are physically identical. The only difference is the roms.
Hydrogen is the Chinese rom which your 1910 phone would originally have had. It has everything Google removed because Chinese Government doesn't like Google. In addition it has state approved Chinese apps. EU OOS and Global OOS are near identical. Both contain Google. However, the European Union does not like Google's near monopoly. So due to EU laws, EU OOS contains less Google and more ability to opt out.
Global is a good option, IMHO, because it has everything and you can then debloat to the way you want.

Ah okay, understood. My phone didn't have any Google stuff on it until I restored from my account and it installed everything I had on my S10 onto my OP7P.
Absolutely incredible phone, blazing fast compared to my Exynos S10, not too mention 90hz display makes it look butter smooth.
Here in Australia we didn't get Snapdragon Samsung devices, so to feel the difference is night and day, I understand why everyone goes Snapdragon over Exynos for performance.

Thanks for the reply. So i flash it by putting the OTA in downloads and just choosing it from system update's local storage mode? Sorry, very new to Oneplus and of course A/B partitions and all that. Bit daunting at first but i'll get the hang of it soon.
