I have been trying to figure out why I am not seeing notifications in the Notification drop down; I would get a Gmail, there will be a dot to say I got a new mail on the Gmail shortcut but nothing in the Notification drop down. Gmail and other apps show notifications on my old Android 10 device but I see few on the Pixel 4a
Is this an Android 11 thing ?
Is there settings I am missing ?

I've had an issue for a month now, which started as
- Gmail notifications not appearing in my bar or lockscreen, then weks after
- Hangouts not notifying me of push messages, and now
- Outlook (new install) not providing any notifications from day 1.
I looked everywhere and found unrelated issues:
- no push notifications,
- delayed push notifications,
- Google issues with some push notifications...
Mine is specific to:
- I get a vibration of a push notification (not sure which - Hangout, Gmail, or Outlook)
- wake up my phone to see a blank lockscreen
- unlock phone to see no notification
- access each of the 3 apps mentioned to see where I just received something.
- That something is unread, and newly received, so no, I didn't just syn by opening the app. it was there waiting for me.
- I did get Facebook messenger, LinkedIn and various other app notifications though... :/
Today I solved the issue. What is it? Not Light Flow, Not Buzz Launcher, not any specific app I installed. Android Marshmellow 6.0.1 running stock MMB29K.G390FXXU1BPLB from Samsung.
Going to the notification settings (found when you drop down the notification bar at the bottom left, you have the ability to toggle specific apps notification. Seems some unrelated apps that I didn't want notifications, which I had selected "block" had impacted my vital GMAIL. Hangout, and Outlook. I wouldn't think the apps were the issues, but the controller for the block/unblock ability. So if you have stumbled upon the same issue as me unblock the apps to fix the issue. Very frustrating month for me...
Good evening at all,
I've already tried to do a forum search, but I did not find an answer.
I use Nova Launcher Pro.
I have a problem with notifications. Notifications work in whatsapps and sms, I see them on the top bar.
Instead, in other apps (calendar, inbox by gmail, netatmo security for example) are not seen. They appear quickly on the screen and then disappear.
Can someone help me?
I've already tried to modify the power saving options, but it does not change anything, even by changing the "special access" menu.
Thank you
guiduz
Have you gone into Nova settings and down to Notification badges, tap that and down on the bottom you will see TeslaUnread and enable the apps you want to get notifications from?
Hello, thanks for the answer.
My problem is of not having notification icons in the status bar for applications (for example the notifications of Netatmo, the security camera app ).
I have notification icons only for messaging programs (like whatsapp, sms etc.). For other apps, I have the only notifications that appear on the screen and soon disappear.
Thanks
guiduz
UP!
Please help me!
About phantom vibrations, today I was in front of my pc when I heard a vibration without notification on the phone and I noticed on the PC that I just had an email, so the ghost notification was due to the arrival of the email!
Im having the same issue, I get a vibration, and a quick flash of a notification.
So if my phone is in my pocket, by the time I get it out the notification will be gone.
Text message, whats app and gmail all seem to work
I dont get google voicemail notifications, group me notifications, let go notifications and a few others...help?
I have two annoying issues with notifications:
1. Any time I receive an email at Gmail or stock mail app it is displayed in the pull-down notification area twice. The same with downloading things, for example from Google Drive - I see two similar lines.
2. When I receive an SMS (service number or even my contact) there is no sound and no notification in the top bar.
I checked the settings - SMS is set to sound and display.
Latest stock Android 9.
The only time I had this happen was when I accidentally had two of the same accounts configured on my phone or in the gmail itself. or just delete the account on your phone and reconfigure,, or reset the phone.. Hth.
The Dot that is to show that there are unread messages, emails etc. disappears once the notification is swiped away from the notifications bar. To my understanding the Dot should remain even if the notifications is swiped away as the Dot would show I have unread messages unless I have manually marked it as read from the notification (this is how it is in Huawei, App Badge).
This is not well implemented in OnePlus as not sure what's the purpose of removing the Dot along with notification from the Status bar. Removing notifications from the notifications bar declutters the area but removing all notifications from everywhere does not make sense. This way one would not know there are unread messages unless and until apps are opened, and if something important it would definitely have already been missed.
Is this same in the Lineage OS ROM ?
My flip 3 cover screen often displays the orange notification dot even though there are no notifications when i swipe to check. It makes me check my phone far too often and is pretty annoying overall.
Does anyone how to fix this?
I can't seem to find any information about the issue anywhere else.
Check what notifications you have appearing. The orange dot will appear for most notifications and foreground services by default.
Settings -> Notifications
A bug for sure, happens to me all the time as well, an orange dot but when I open the phone, no new notifications or opened apps whatsoever. Hopefully it will be fixed in some of the upcoming software updates.
Yes this is very annoying happens to me all the time with WhatsApp messages. I'm also noticing there's a delay in my whatsapp and gmail push notifications. Compared to my old pixel or iPad - those are pretty instantaneous.
