Exactly the same experience.
Though I read elsewhere on this forum that 5g doesn't work on this device outside HK regardless of whether you are in a location with the right 5G bands.
I actually had an aTT 5g version but need dual sim. Got 5G everywhere (more like filling in dead zones gaps where I used to have no signal). It was great. If carriers enable esim like apple devices do on their networks I will switch back immediately, as the carrier models have 2 imeis
The other disadvantage is that these seem to get the slowest updates.

Yeah, The hongkong variant 5g Wont work in the us because Hongkong doesnt share the same 5g band The us do. But it does work in The uk and some parts of europe and ofcourse in hongkong. 4G is all i need personally but is the 4g fast for you?

Yes. But it could be that city centers are emptier because of covid

you need to downgrade to TGM version of the firmware using Odin and 5G will work again from the SIM2 slot only!

I thought they have a way to root US version now. Just cost 150 buck.

My brother brought note 9 international version and he is having so much trouble getting calls, most of the calls goes to voicemail because range issues. When i check Band 66, 71 Lte bands are missing. Is that okay?

Lyca, they use Tmobile network
I'm using an EU model with a Fi sim, works fine.
I'm using the Chinese 8/256 version and it works fine in terms of calls and data but messaging is iffy. Looks like about a third of the SMS people send me is not getting through to me. It appears T-Mobile is using several bands for texting and one or two of those are not supported by this phone. I am now looking at switching carriers but still haven't figured out which one is using all the bands this phone has.
I have imported this phone from China as well. I have the 128GB version. I am on T-MOBILE and everything works fine. There are a couple of issues with the Chinese OS shutting down Google Assistant and the Google news feed, as well as, not being able to access backups on Google, but other than those minor issues, the phone works fine.
The ZTE website for the US shows the Axon 10 Pro has more bands than the kimovil states. I'll believe the manufacturer. Therefore, purchasing the US version of the phone should allow you to use it on many carriers. I've even heard that users on Verizon could use it if they have the phone provisioned for CDMA-less service. (Verizon does this with many other phones, like the Razer Phone 2)
If your planning on using it with a tmobile mvno, the US model has full tmobile band support both 66/71 bands, wifi calling and VoLTE

How to enable carrier aggregation on Note 20 Ultra?

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how to enable carrier aggregation on unlocked Note 20 Ultra (Hong Kong version but should be the same for all other regions)?
Thanks!
Hi,
It's enabled by default, and I doubt you can disable it unless you force it to use only one band (with Activity Launcher, search for a phone activity with the word "hidden"), but even then you won't be able to turn off intra band aggregation.
You can see if your phone connects well to multiple frequencies with an app called NetMonster

Thanks a lot!
The problem is that I imported the Snapdragon version from Hong Kong and it seems (from what I read about imported S20 Ultra) it doesnt have EU specific carrier aggregation so needs to be changed via Qualcomm tools and PC.
So I wanted to know the method for Note 20 too.
We don't know Carrier Aggregation combinations what HK-version support but there is way to list these from modem log. I think HK-version have Qualcomm so SCAT-method is best: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...tions-from-your-android-phone/#Scat_(Qualcomm
What region you try use? In Europe i think Carrier Aggregation should work but in US i think it doesn't support any combinations. If you just share QMDL modem log i can list all Carrier Aggregation combinations from your device.

Actually, carrier aggregation worked out of the box, without any fancy setup. Depending on network strength it shows either 2 or 3 bands combined.
So this issue is resolved.

Yes, I live in the UK and HK version works like a dream - except 5G that doesn't work yet...
And, yes, it should not fully work in the US as the bands are different. But in the US you guys have native Snapdragon variant (1 sim though) that should do it.

I also migrated from S8 and the difference is huge.
I was also a heavy root user but stopped rooting phones as use Knox and banking apps heavily and neither works with root. TBH I didn't miss root much, we can do almost everything without rooting nowadays.

Thanks! I am among the first people in this forum who got SN-N9860 from Wonda, right after it was announced in HK.
The area I live in has no 5G yet so I had to travel to other places to test. The screenshot I posted was taken in Weybridge, near the high street. Three only has a tiny 5G area in Weybridge so I assume the speed and latency would be much better in London or other areas with better 5G coverage.
Carrier aggregation is not setup on the sm-n9860 to utilize the lte bands that USA use - for t-mobile anyways.
Im not sure if changing to csc bri might help for this. Probably someone from usa can confirm?
Maybe @inningsdefeat500 can confirm or not. I believe he has the same device and on T-Mobile USA.

Can I get 5G if 2 SIM inside the phone

Hi guys I have Note20 Ultra 5G Snapdragon version SM-N9860
And the 5G is working fine in the slot 2 but if I add another SIM in slot 1 the 5G disappear is there any way to make the 5G working if I am using 2 SIM in the same time
By the way
The exynos phones can do it without problem my brother using S20 Ultra and I tried to put 2 SIM inside the phone and I get 5G without any problem
make sim in slot 2 default sim for data/calls/sms
or whichever slot has 5g sim in it
Guess it's a Snapdragon thing since OP 8 Pro wouldn't let me use 5G while 2 SIM cards were active. Android 11 should bring support for it.
Like you said, Exynos allows it already.

Not necessarily - for example, there is still some question as to whether we can get 5G to work or not (it only has three 5G bands). That doesn't matter so much to me though - it has all the 4G bands I need, and it is Snapdragon, dual-SIM with 256GB of storage. You'd have to compare the bands it has to what you want/need for your carrier. There's a whole thread on it here if you want to check it out.

I ordered mine from PDAPlaza up here in Montreal - but there are several sellers on EBay, and the European guys got theirs from a distributor called Wondamobile. Your best bet is probably EBay, but there are lots of sources for these gray-market phones. Bear in mind it won't have a warranty in the US however - you'd have to go through the seller for warranty service.

Is there a way to make the 5G of my US variant Note 20 Ultra to work in another country?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G bought from the US (SM-N986U1) and I am currently in the Philippines. Is there any way I can make the 5G work here? If currently there is no way, would you think there will be in the near future?
Depends if the 5g bands are the same in both countries (and operators), you'd need to check that.
You could try the whitelisting method used on the Hong Kong variants which allows 5g use in Europe. Google it.
This is interesting part. I've been thinking about this not long time ago. My idea is as HK variant has same chipset etc, except storage with USA variant. So I believe it possible in some way to enable hidden or locked 5G bands on USA variant.
Not possible make to work because it do not support bands used bands and combinations used in Philippines: https://cacombos.com/device/SM-N986U

hi mate just for knowing, i had this idea to import myself a broken note 20 ultra 5g US variant, you said that the 5G is not working. Did the 4g,3g or 2g worked for you? im from italy and i found on ebay a good priced phone, but now im scared that the network will not work for me. i found the philippines band chart with all the frequencies and bands. like in italy, only one/two of them are supported and i would like to know if the network was working.

Hey there. Yes. My former Note 20 Ultra 5G US variant's 4G is working in the Philippines.
I recommend you get also the Hong Kong (Snapdragon) variant instead, as I have read somewhere that HK variant's 5G could work in the UK.

Well this answers my question. I recently bought a US version note 20 ultra 5g and having trouble activating the 5g on my phone which seems to be impossible. I should have bought a snapdragon hk version instead then. This is very frustrating cause I'm really enjoying the benefits of a Note phone.

Question Usa carrier support

I've asked this question before and I can't find anything.
Can anybody confirm the 0/B/E versions to work on TMobile or att or mvnos of them?
If someone wants to be so kindid appreciate it. Really wanting to buy one for root.
if you use AT&T, don't buy any international models because they will block your sim. You may call them to unlock it but the sim will be blocked again after a couple days. The reason is AT&T has a list of supported models and international phones are not on their list.
T-Mobile doesn't have such a horrible thing. So yeah, it works.
Oh, and I am using 908E/DS on T-Mobile network.

That’s what I’ve done and been using till now. Bought the 908E on Amazon, unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. No custom rom for it yet other than tha Magisk rom by dr.ketan. I’m using the S22 Ultra 908E on T-mobile to write this right now. I don’t see any issue. If there is one, the phone is the issue.

No. I don't expect an international phone to be fully working on a US carrier network such as TMO or ATT due to missing bands. If I have to choose between slower connection and the ability to root, I'd choose the latter one. I chose TMO because it works, white ATT not working at all.
There are wifi networks available almost everywhere I go nowadays. In case there is none, usually when I was driving, 4G/LTE always available and that's good enough.

So to confirm, no signal at all for att/cricket?
What about h20wireless? Redpocket mobile?
What site to use to check compatibility? I'll take slower speeds
To confirm:
1. AT&T blocks your sim right away. Your phone turns into a small tablet. That's it. Nothing you can do about it. I don't bother with smaller companies. I only go for the big boys.
2. T-Mobile will give you slower speed and freedom of root. This comes from my experience. Very little chance I need to use my plan's data. I can't tell the speed is slower at all. As far as carrier's features, I don't use any of them, but I think you can still have them if you change it to proper CSC.
Google search your model then you will find what bands your model support. Then Google search your choice of carrier to see what bands they have. Google is your friend.
Not just slower speed. Theres some areas that band 71 would be required to even get service at all in rural areas. Like just 5 min from my house if you have T-Mobile and your phone doesnt have band 71 no service.

All depends on area. It's still missing band 71 and N71 5G. I personally couldn't as it would make my phone useless in areas I frequent

But you could get the 4G LTE tho at least right? I have a 5G phone and i only get LTE speeds which is fine but the carrier doesn't offer 5G.

In the end, as @hyelton just said, it all depends on your area, your luck and how you would use your phone... There is no definite answer to the op's question until he figures it out himself. It works for me and I am happy with what I got but that may not apply to everyone else... If the op decides to roll the dice for a chance to get a phone that he can have total freedom over it he can go for it. Otherwise, just buy the one on Samsung website ending with U models and have all of his worries put away. Honestly, I didn't think about any of that when I placed my order.
My unlocked 908U1 on t-mobile work perfectly, supported band25 with 130-180mbps speeds on LTE.
ps: 5G is totally disabled as it switching every 5 seconds between 4G\5G networks

My OP was based on the international versions because I absolutely have to have root. I have not owned a phone that I could not have root capabilities in over 10 years.
I don't care so much about 5G I just want to have a phone that functions on a US carrier from overseas. Maybe it got lost in translation but I just want to know what carriers people have and if anybody has the carriers that I mentioned with confirmation or denial of service.
Specifically the carriers on most questioned about are H2O wireless and red pocket. I'm not very Google friendly and so I'm not familiar with the bands I'm used to just buying a phone and it working as intended for my purposes.
^^^ You're overthinking it. Just pull up the bandwidths for the carrier you're looking to utilize and go from there. As mentioned you're better served by going for one of the major carriers and maybe their prepaid services. Remember major carriers prioritize their post paid plans first for their optimum network traffic followed by their own respective prepaid plans and finally the MVNOs. I would stay away from the MVNOs in your scenario if you're importing a handset not configured for the U.S to begin it and degrading it further by using an MVNO.
