Is it possible to make samsung pay work in another country? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers
Hello everyone! I got the note 20 ultra in another country where samsung pay isn't supported(i didn't care because it isn't supported in my country either).
But now it is supported (perfect timing), but still isn't supported in origin country where i bought it. I've tried factory resetting with sims installed to trigger region change, didn't work(although 2 sims was installed from different countries, it could be an issue, but I'm tired of resetting the phone and guessing).
Then I tried installing my countries firmware from sammobile.com using odin. It went horrible, odin was stuck 60% at super.img and my phone turned to a brick. But installing original firmware worked and I've managed to restore my phone.
When downloading the samsung pay app from play stores it check for compatibility and then says that it is coming soon.
Tried to download it from galaxy store, but the app isn't there.
Is there anything I can do to make it work here? Am I stuck with samsung phone that doesn't support samsung pay?

You're stuck, at least as far as the phone is concerned (more on that in a minute). Samsung Pay is apparently driven by the point-of-sale country CSC, which you can't change. I have the same issue with my S9+ SM-N9650, which is TPA (Panama) even though I booted it up with a Canadian SIM. As you mentioned, the Samsung Pay app from the Play Store will check for availability (based on the point-of-sale CSC) and then inform you if Samsung Pay is available based on its availability in that country - so you won't be able to use it on the phone until it is.
I get around this by using it on my Gear S3, which has a Canadian CSC, and therefore Samsung Pay, and links to the Wearables app on the phone. I actually prefer using Samsung Pay on my watch, so the availability on my phone is a non-issue for me (except for the fact you can't add debit cards to the watch). That said, one of the reasons I ordered my Note20 Ultra from Hong Kong is that they have Samsung Pay there, so it will work on the phone, which is a plus.

Oh, no...
So if sometime in the future samsung pay will become supported in the country where I bought the phone, I'll be able to change the region of samsung pay and start using it?
And I didn't understand about that I can't add debit cards to the watch, do you mean you can only use credit cards? Cause I don't use credit cards.
God, I switched to android again after 8 years of using ios, last android phone was galaxy s(it's funny how this forum kept my account for all these years). And only thing I'm missing so much is apple pay.

No, you will never be able to change the region for Samsung Pay. Folks can use Samsung Pay on the Hong Kong Note20 Ultra because it is available in Hong Kong - but it is the Hong Kong version of Samsung Pay.
And that's correct - at least here in Canada on the Gear S3 (YMMV for newer watches and other countries - suggest you check Samsung's website for what's available on a given watch in your country), you can only use credit cards in Samsung Pay on the watch.

Other users have successfully added a wide variety of cards even though they are not Hong Kong based. That said, in my experience, some cards (particularly debit cards) won't work in Samsung Pay from another country. Suggest you check out the thread on the Hong Kong Note20 Ultra for more info.

I live in Japan, use US debit card and credit cards on HK N20U... Samsung Pay works just fine... It is the HK version but no issues using it... Samsung Pay is based off of the phone's original country... As far I know there is not a way to flash and change it

Samsung Gear SM-RF760 and Samsung Gear Pay - Issues
So, due to no Gear S3 being available in Australia for some time, I ordered the SM-RF760 Model from www.eglobaldigital.com.au I have the s7 Edge Aussie Variant. Just found out that Samsung Pay is no available on the SM-RF760 and been advised by Samsung that it will only become available and has to be activated in the country i bought the watch from!!! Can you believe it? Maybe one day I can side load a version, of if someone can help, please please do Michael
Sorry but you can't side load it. The only way to get it on the watch is to load the csc file from Australia. I am in the same boat in Canada. Have it in Gear Manager but it won't go on the watch until Canada updates the CSC file. Swordfish

Click to collapse I ask now on another forum and wait answer. Man buy R760 from USA, now version APK7. Pnone not Samsung. Adding russian card without problem. SP working via NFC and MST. Sorry for my bad english.
APK7 is the firmware version but I need to know what CSC version the Americans have. Using the procedure above, you can check and see what version you have. It won't hurt your watch to just check the version number. Swordfish
My guess is my model number is the American version SM-R760 CSC: R760OXA1APK6 SM-R760
We have PK7 as the firmware but my thinking must be incorrect. It seems we all have OXA as the CSC value so now I'm puzzled as to how the watch knows not to install SP on my watch?? Swordfish
THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING AND SAMSUNG ARE HOPELESS, THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE COUNTRY I PURCHASED, HONG KONG?? Is SM-R760 the USA version then?

gah samsung pay not available on my HK version of the watch. Gah is there any update on this (flashing firmware etc) to get samsung pay to work in my home country (australia)? This is frustrating
It's the watch, nothing you do on your phone will bypass it. I'm in Canada, didn't even have the SP option in my gear app and then I sold my Canadian one and got a USA one and it installed itself on my Canadian S7 Edge (unrooted/unmodded). SP works even though we don't officially have SP in Canada (only pre-release for one bank)
SM-955F on ATT USA will Samsung Pay work?
Looking to purchase SM-955F from Clove and use in the USA with AT&T. Will Samsung Pay work in the USA? CC
Maybe. Can't know for sure until someone tried it out. A few of us will be testing this out Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk

You have to install the right combinations of Samsung Pay Framework and the Samsung Pay App. Since the UK phones don't ship with the Framework pre-installed some people got better/easier results flashing a different "F" CSC ROM that included Samsung Pay pre-installed. BTU (the UK CSC) gets the most updates fastest so I'm not interesting in changing it. I'm getting a AT&T S8+ Wednesday so I'll pull the APKs (including S Pay) I may need from it to set up my UK phone. I'll post my findings and results. In terms of Samsung Pay in the U.S., none of the S7e'rs ever got Amex cards to work so I doubt that'll change. Also, for Gear S3 owners, you can use the Gear version of S Pay on a UK phone without any gyrations.

cc999 said: Another question. I hear that if you put in an ATT sim into the SM-955F phone all the ATT bloatware gets installed. Is this true? Click to expand... Click to collapse Nope. Samsung's achieved the Holy Grail with U.S. phones. S8's for all the carrier phones are SM-G955U. So rather than having different model numbers (EG: SM-G955A), different per carrier s/w, and sometimes even carrier specific h/w modifications, all phones are the same with carrier s/w revisions occurring based on the SIM inserted. That's what you read. International unlocked phones are completely pure. Meaning nothing about them is influenced in any way by a carrier. They'll be some regional additions (EG: UK specific browser bookmarks, pre-installed apps, etc.) but they can all be removed. The best part is getting updates directly from Samsung. With a phone as new and complex as the S8 there will be tons of updates both on the feature and bug elimination side. As AT&T'rs we'll lose some stuff. Like HD Voice and NumberSync but gain things like Samsung's Smart Call which lets you dial businesses that you don't have the number for directly from the dialer. I've done both AT&T and grey market phones before and I'll post what we gain and lose once my UK S8 arrives. http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/smart-call/
Samsung Pay on Gear S3 Korea version
I bought my Gear S3 on ebay from Korea, so far everything is working well. I was in Saudi Arabia all this time where Samsung Pay isn't available so I couldn't try it. Now I came back to India where Samsung Pay is available but still I'm not able to use it. I get error shown in attached screenshot, when installing pay plug-in in my OnePlus one. P. S.: I'm using Indian sim. Any help is appreciated.
Samsung Pay on Note10/+ (International device) from Ebay
So there's discussion that if we purchase an International Note 10 or Note 10+ from ebay, we may not be able to use Samsung Pay in the United States. The reason being, the Note will be preloaded with Pay App that's from that region. Had anyone been able to uninstall the pre-installed app and reload the app via apkmirror to get Samsung Pay to work in the US? Saw a post on the s8 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/how-add-samsung-pay-to-sm-g950fd-dual-t3600699) which talked about this exact problem. Not sure if it's the same here and if anyone got to work around the region problem. Not talking about U firmware.
Just got my Note 10+ dual sim from Ebay N9750 (HK) version and Samsung Pay worked out the box in South Africa. However the adverts and loyalty program is specific for HK.
Global rom on Snapdragon N20U version ?
Hello guys, in my country (france) if i import a N20U with the snapdragon processor, i know for example samsung pay and volte doesn't work and updates software maybe not in same time (and different?), my question is, can i flash a qualcomm version with a global rom intended for the model with exynos processor? and if it's possible samsung pay volte etc work like the europe version after that? Maybe it's a stupid question but the last time i used odin for flash a phone it's in 2012 so .. ?

I would add that while Samsung Pay likely would work in France using a U.S. N20U, it would be the U.S. version of Samsung Pay, and therefore not all cards from France would necessarily work with it, as again, Samsung Pay appears to be inextricably linked to the phone's CSC (country-specific code). That said, as you will see in the thread on the HK SM-N9860, users are reporting good success with Samsung Pay outside of HK, for example. Would welcome others weighing in on the compatibility and pros/cons of different ROMs with the various models of Note, as my knowledge is very limited in that regard.

The key differences between the HK model and the N20U you are considering (apart from US vs HK Samsung Pay) is the HK model is dual-SIM, and comes with 256 GB of storage (versus the US base model's 128 GB). Note as well the discussions in the threads about getting 5G on the HK model, which may be problematic.
