I've been searching for a way to play x265 10bit 1080p files over Kodi, with an external player, since the native player, at least on this tablet, won't do this in either hardware or software decoding mode. I also know that K1 doesn't support hardware decoding of this files, only software decoding, I have no issues playing x265 8bit 1080p files.
From what I've searched and tested myself, this is what I could find so far:
- Using MX Player Pro with software decoding, as a Kodi external player, the files play fine, even some 4K files play acceptably well, the problem is that, because the content I'm trying to play is shared from my Nvidia Shield TV via Kodi upnp shared library, I only get the subtitles that are encoded inside the video file and not the external ones;
- MX Player Pro, as a standalone player, can't even detect my Nvidia Shield TV Kodi upnp shared library, and I don't intend to use local files;
- VLC, as Kodi's external player, will play the files with stutter, same as the native Kodi player, no matter what decoding modes I use, and still no external subtitles;

}
- VLC, as a standalone player, will detect my Nvidia Shield TV Kodi upnp shared library, and allow me to select the subtitles I want, but still stutters;
So, what I would like to find out is, either a way to for MX Player to let me select external subtitle files, as Kodi's external player, or out how to add Nvidia Shield TV Kodi upnp shared library to it, and use it without Kodi.
If someone used a different method to solve this, please let me know, I really couldn't find much. Thanks!
PS: Before someone suggests this, I've already tried the Kodi forums, they're so nice and helpfull there... The result is that I've been talking to myself for the last week, either no one cares to help or no one really knows how to do so, a simple "it can't be done" would be better than nothing at all.

Is there a way to rewrite the YouTube program to direct it to other sites? Seems it would just need a way to manually enter addresses.
The Youtube program itself doesn't handle the playback of video, it's just a wrapper that interacts with the special Youtube-specific features like comments and user ratings.
That said, when you visit youtube, you're actually viewing m.youtube.com content, or RTSP/3GP video. This is not FLV video. That means there is no way right now to easily modify the existing software to view other sites unless they have RTSP/3GP content. An example of a non-Youtube RTSP/3GP site would be www.zoovision.com Visit it in the browser and you can watch the videos in the streaming viewer.
By the way an excellent RTSP/3GP site is www.vuclip.com. They transcode content from other streaming video sites into RTSP/3GP.

Android being Open Source Project, is the main reason seems that they have not implemented other other Codecs and Video Streaming Protocol out of the Box,
3GP is Third Generation Mobile Partnership Protocol and Free to use without Patents. I think we only could get other codecs as Addons from Google, but getting it as In built will be a Problem.

3GP is not a codec; it is a container for audio and video streams like how FLV is a container. Android probably has libavcodec or something which can handle most commonly used AV codecs. It can definitely play back H263 and H264.
Interesting !!!
Not sure if the streaming is exactly the same for VUclip, Zoovision, etc.
On Youtube, I get zero frame bleed on GSM or up to Wifi and the vids scale to connection (GSM, Edge, 3G and wifi)
Wifi looks amazing on the G1- as good as desktop view (IMO).
I get a LOT of frame bleed even when using wifi for any site other than Youtube.
The bleed is so bad the vids are not watchable. Very few do not exhibit this issue, but I could
just be unlucky with it.

I just use Tunebite Youtube Downloader for the job since this one besides being able to download and save youtube videos can also work as a Youtube to mp3 ripper and convert youtube flv to mp3 files I can use on my pc, mobile devices etc.
Plus Tunebite also has a menu to configure individual Audio and Video profiles depending frame rate, frames-per-second, resolution etc. to help setup audio and video files perfectly for pc and each mobile devices and to save space with smaller files.

Does anyone know if the Shield is HDCP protected? I'd like to use something like an Elgato Game Capture to capture video.
Thanks!

People have been recording video from the HDMI output, although I believe HDCP will kick in if you try to watch a movie via Google Movies.

I am aware of software / apps that can capture video; however fraps is not available as an android application (as far as I know). Additionally fraps affects your framerate and whatnot when you play, unless you have a really overkill PC.
I'd like to capture video of Android games. There are some apps like Screencast etc that are software solutions, however again they are software based, affect your framerate, and screencast is not currently compatible with Tegra.
Hardware screen capture products (capture cards, elgato, etc) have several advantages over software based solutions like fraps. They don't affect your framerate, and some have hardware video encoding. Elgato has hardware h264 encoding.
If google movies activates HDCP anyway to disable it or should it just be off when the app is closed?
I'm asking because I had no problem recording my games with my avermedia gamebroadcaster HD but all of a sudden i cant record anything not even the homescreen because it says HDCP protected and the only thing I can think of that I last did was bought that free elf giveaway on the play store.
I am not trying to record anything but some emulators which used to work just fine.
Any ideas?
I'm also having trouble recording with a PVR

Hi there,
I need some help in order to make use of MXPlayer as a player for my TVHeadend streams on Android.
I have a TVHeadend Server setup and working perfectly on my Raspberry Pi Zero. I'm used to watching these streams on a RPi 3 running OSMC/Kodi without issues.
Here's where I am stuck. I want to use MXPlayer to use these .ts streams to no avail. I only get a garbled image and a chopping sound.

I am in Brazil. Here we have as a Digital TV standard a variation of ISDB-T, called ISDB-Tb.
I know it uses H.264 and AAC.
Both AFAIK are supported by mxplayer pro.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry.
I am new to this.
Should I post this to another thread or provide the logs here?
Sent from my LG-K220 using Tapatalk
I have attached the logs,
Also, As I get home today, and sampled a .ts file. I've noticed that MXPlayer Pro can play this sample as you'll find out.
But it cannot stream it. It is NOT a bandwidth issue. I know that because the default video player can play (without sound) the same streaming coming from TVHeadend.
Hope that helps

I have tried to stream the video from a remote location & couldn't find any such issues.
The logs in your report are only a few lines. Looks like some other process is generating more logs & MX logs are getting erased before you collect the report. Can you increase the log buffer size in developer options of your device & collect the logs again after reproducing the issue?
does it happen with all decoders?
basically, HW decoder uses the same media player API used in stock video players. So, it should behave exactly same as your default player in most of the cases. What about HW+ & SW?
Here is the log with increased size (4MB)
I have tested with HW+ and SW.
With HW+ it behaves basically the same as HW with the difference that it plays a couple of seconds more before stalls with a garbled image.
SW: it plays, sort of, losing A/V sync. Unwatchable.
Hope that helps;
same here, instead of that if I save the stream to local storage, mx player can play A+V with HW
