J415FN bootloop - stock firmware doesn't resolve the issue - Samsung Galaxy J4+ Questions & Answers

Alright, here's the situation I'm in. My friend's WiFi wasn't turning on so I first thing I did was reset the network settings to factory defaults which didn't help.
Next, I upgraded his OS OTA through settings pane, again no cigar. I then went to check if BT was working and it did turn on with no problem, or so I thought. Despite it being on, it wasn't seeing any BT devices I could see with my own phone and PC.
As a last resort I backed up his phone with Smart Switch and went for a factory reset. Boy, was that a big mistake. You see, when the phone went through the resetting motions, it got stuck in a bootloop. First the Samsung J4+, secured by Knox screen would show up followed by Samsung logo which would run for few seconds and then the phone would reboot.
What I tried next was going to recovery mode by pressing Volume up + power button. There I went to clear cache and once again rebooted the phone to no avail. Same thing happened again.
Next I tried doing factory reset through recovery mode, again same thing.
After that I went to download latest firmware from sammobile with correct CSC and flashed it with Odin with no problem. The problem was though that the bootloop persisted through fw flash.
Next, I found PIT file for the phone and loaded it up in Odin so I could check NAND Erase and Repartition options alongside loading up all the firmware files. This went smoothly, flash was erased and reformatted/repartitioned, Odin did its thing, firmware was loaded up to the phone, but again, bootloop persisted.
I drained the battery by letting it loop until it died, charged it back but that didn't help either. I also tried flashing several different CSC firmwares to no avail. Tried all 3 available firmware versions with binary counter of 6 (BTG1, BTE1 and BRB3).

Unfortunately, I didn't have the presence of mind to enable OEM unlock before doing the factory reset so loading the phone with TWRP is not an option. I can't even load older versions of stock firmware either because the binary check fails. Am I SOL on this one?

[Q] Having some major issues with my phone, help?

- A few days ago my phone freezes while I am using it, and its stuck on the google screen. at this point, it's on 5.0.1 unrooted, unlocked bootloader.
- I try going into recovery and wiping cache and doing factory reset. I keep getting errors but eventually the wipes work. Still doesn't boot though. So I do this a few times. I got it to boot twice but both times it froze within 5 mins and back to the same thing.
- I fastboot 5.0.1 factory image, goes through. but still no dice - stuck on google boot screen.
- I research and find out about the infamous power button problem. it doesn't seem like thats the issue with mine because the buttons seem to work fine. whatever, i take it to a local repair shop (phone is out of warranty) and the next day they inform me that there is no physical issue and that their software reset worked. they used the LG factory firmware way of resetting the device.
- Got the device back, used it for a while. It was fine for the time being but it was on 4.4.3 and I got the 4.4.4 update. I go and unlock bootloader, flash 5.0.1 factory image and push TWRP+root.
- Doesn't boot again, stuck on google logo
- I tried a whole bunch of stuff and nothing worked. I ended up with flashing 4.4.3 factory image in fastboot and relocking the bootloader so I could take it back to the shop the next day. At this point the phone wasn't even turning on.
- The next day (today), I tried turning it on, nothing. I put it in the charger for a while, then turned it on.... and it booted! used it for a while, it's fine.
- Did 4.4.4 system update, it's fine.
- Unlocked bootloader, it's fine.
- Tried to flash 5.0.1 factory image and again same issue - stuck on google screen.
- Been dicking around the last few hours trying to fix it ended with flashing 4.4.3 again but same issue, I then put the phone into download mode and connect to the computer but I got a green screen something about DemiGod Watchdog HW reset. I did the reset.
- Phone booted up again! Did the 4.4.4 system update and then it started freezing and rebooting withing few seconds of use. Now it's back to being stuck on google screen.
- I am obvious gonna bring it back to the shop now but any idea as to what is happening here?

1.I presume the "DemiGod Watchdog HW reset" green screen came up after you gave the phone for HW servicing? If so then they could have knocked around the parts a bit to cause a hardware issue(not sure what causes it)
2.Check the MD5 of the 5.0.1 factory image.
3.Instead of factory image use the OTA zip file and flash in stock recovery.
So I used the LG tool myself to flash the firmware (4.4.3 is the only one available) and it worked fine. Updated to 4.4.4. Fine.
I then adb sideload the 4.4.4 - 5.0.1, and stuck on google logo again .................im pulling my hair out this is so weird.

1) yes this was after.
2)i tried adb sideload.. ill try that good idea.
can't flash ota.zip in recovery. only adb and that didn't work.
think i'm just gonna hang on to 4.4.4 then for now. tried everything.
Just an update. I was running 4.4.4 just fine but the phone froze and went back to the Google screen again.

[Q] Weird softbrick - phone reboots constantly after factory reset

Ok, so I think I may have finally killed one of my S2 Skyrockets.
I attempted to use the factory reset function from within Candy 5.1.1. However, on reboot the phone entered TWRP, or rather tried. Instead of booting into the recovery, it just kept restarting over and over again. I couldn't get it to boot into the OS or TWRP.
Thinking I had just soft-bricked it, I went into ODIN mode and uploaded a full restore image. Now I don't get stuck in a TWRP bootloop, I am stuck in a different bootloot. I see "Rethink Possible" go black, wait a few seconds, then it restarts again. I have pulled the battery out several times, attempted to boot into recovery (where I get the original TWRP bootloop) etc.
Is there any way to recover this device, or am I hosed?
[UPDATE]
Ok, this was one of the scarier things I've run into, but I recovered the phone. I used the sammobile version of the UCMC1 image (which blows away everything). This didn't reboot, it just hung. However, I was able to get into 3e (the stock recovery) and do a factory reset. THAT got me past the block. I'm now in the process of putting TWRP back on along with Candy.
Apparently you REALLY don't want to screw with the factory reset function...

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset

My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset
A mobile app. for Android was installed successfully and since then I’m only having issues with my Samsung mobile:
- Since the installation of both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps, my mobile freezes during any regular action and after a few seconds the device auto-restarts itself intermittently; this happened during the weekend while in use;
- Sunday night I uninstalled both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps and the phone continued to freeze and restart intermittently. I was able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning after the phone was turned off and turned on, the phone is not loading; the boot is looping and unable to reach the menu. I’m able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning I did a Factory Reset, when done I get the “welcome” screen and right thereafter, the mobile freezes, auto-restarts and the boot keep looping.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Hey guys, any suggestions...? I tried last night restoring the OS using Samsung Smart Switch application and the process went just fine the first time and during the setup process the phone just restarted against and for stuck in bootloop again.
I did a second attempt but after the PC is don and the phone boots it gets stuck.
Sometimes after restoring stock firmware and you get a bootloop, you have to boot to stock recovery and factory reset then wipe cache partition.
I know you said you did that once before you posted, you did that before you used SmartSwitch. Have you tried factory reset since restoring with SmartSwitch?
Yes, I did with SS last night; I did it again this morning and after completing the 100% software download, it started updating the device and at 97% it stopped and got the message "FAILED".
now as we speak, I restarted it again and now it's at 66^ downloading the files.
How can I perform a clean install using SS...? or do I need ODIN...? I want to keep the mobile as original as possible.
If you can find your stock firmware, download it and flash it with Odin, it's more reliable.
Maybe a stupid question: Where can I find my stock firmware...?
My info:
PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)
I found the Firmware on SAMMOBILE: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s6-edge/SM-G925F/XFA/download/G925FXXU4DPIX/108273/
Is this a stock Firmware and reliable source...?
Sammobile is a very reliable source, if that firmware is the newest one for your model number and country/region/carrier then you're good to go.
I did install Firmware corresponding to my phone (PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)) using Odin, I can use the phone for like 2 or 3 minutes and then it freezes, restarts and gets into boot loop.
Any more drastic measurements to take...? Is there an online tool to test the hardware function(s)...?
After flashing stock firmware, have you tried booting to stock recovery then do the factory reset and wipe cache then reboot.
Yes, I did...!
In ODIN, do I load only the "AP"...?
In most situations, AP is all you need if the firmware is an all in one firmware file, if you have a 4 part firmware then you need to put each part in its corresponding tab/slot in Odin.
Sometimes you have to flash more than once to be successful.
My phone is running like a horse now...! No more intermittent restarts nor boot looping.
I just did a clean install of Android 7.
The clean install of Android 7 went fine and now it's working back again, was because I changed the "Reactivation Lock" to OFF; I think this helped.

Galaxy S6 - freezing and rebooting 50+ times a day

I've got a Vodafone UK version SM-G920F that has recently started to freeze, crash and reboot constantly.
I managed to back up my data and perform a factory reset from the Setting page, but it crashed 10+ times during the install process (would freeze at various different stages, either rebooting on its own, or requiring a Vol Down+Power reset)
I'm now on a fresh install, but it's still rebooting constantly. I managed to use it like normal for an hour today, but right now it's just rebooted 3 times and won't even get past the Samsung loading screen without several Vol Down+Power resets.
What other options do I have? And is anyone aware of a known hardware issue that could cause this?
I was considering flashing a different ROM, but I'm scared it would reboot during the process and corrupt something...

Maybe a battery issue?
a friend just gave me his very same model phone with the very same issues.. if I find out anything I'll tell you here, or if you solve it first please write down what you did.
Thanks Vibbuz.
I've been trying to download a stock firmware to flash via Odin, but download speeds from Updato are really bad.
So I managed to flash a firmware after installing Odin on a Windows laptop (painful trying to get it to work on my Mac)
Firmware installed OK, but after boot I was getting a constant "com.sec.epdg" pop-up box that wouldn't let me use the phone at all. Not sure if that's due to the tsar3000 firmware?
Wiped the cache and did a factory reset after booting into recovery, and now it's stuck in a boot-loop again (95% of the time it hangs at the Samsung logo animation)
Just tried using SamFirm v0.3.6 to find the correct file. Downloaded a 4gb file, but several attempts to extract only gives BL, CP, CSC files but no AP (throws up an Unknown Error during process).
So still stumped!
Yet another update. Left Updato running overnight and downloaded a firmware.
Flashed it with Odin, claims to have succeeded but phone then reboots and hangs at "Erasing" stage (Android logo is spinning, then stops)
I'm starting to think it's pretty broken...
I've been having this exact same issue since June. If your phone happens to boot try activating power saving mode (to reduce cpu speed) as soon as possible.
It seems that doing that diminished the frequency in which my phone rebooted. If it also helps you it might be a faulty battery that can't provide enough voltage. (I'm not 100% sure on this part though, just thought of it because of the apple batteries drama)
Please post your results! Looks like a lot of people are affected by this and it would be great if we could find the cause of the problem.
I just read your thread actually! Sounds very similar to mine.
I've got nowhere. I don't think it's hard-bricked as I can still access Odin mode on the phone, and sometimes boots to Recovery, but it freezes and various different points and is currently unusable (either freezes at Samsung logo, "Erasing" part after installing firmware, or once it started to run though new device setup then froze).
Went ahead and bought an S8, but still want to fix the S6!

Hi I have same Problem I send the my s6 for repairmen that Saied me this problem related to mobile Hard drive.
I didn't believe it and try some official rom and a rom from Philippine GLB solve my problem for 3 M/o but now developed as same problem whitout any successful rom installation.
I think this problem from incompatibility google play store version to my rom. please flash a custom rom without google apps and immediately after installation turned off data and Wi-Fi internet after 2 day whit sim card whit out any change in setting can use it.
Hello,
anyone found some kind of solution? Happened to me also - freezing, restarts and then my S6 stopped working.. Sometimes I can boot to recovery menu, sometimes it boots up to android (and then freezes again), but the chances are almost non existing. Service man told me the same thing as @ghasemzm - eMMC failure. Yes, it is completely possible, but i don't wanna believe it, because they only tried to reflash the rom. I've made some "google research" and found that there were some issues in power IC on S6/S6E. Could this be related to it?

Will test the theory and let the group know.
So i have installed philipines latest update 6.0.1 i think with PIT file provided on Sammobile.
I have tested it for a day with normal ussage like i set up every other phone and it still continued restarting.
Figured out let me test with no google account signed in and the phone is working perfectly. For a full day.
So i dont know what the problem is but i will try again with google account tomorrow for a day see what happens.
After that will install 7.0.1 uk update with PIT file for it and test with that.
I have the same problem and I am quite sure that it is the mobile hard drive.
I tried to use F2FS but didn't find a working rom for that.
Samsung refused repair because of root.... Never Samsung again!
same issues here - any solutions found? My best guess is hardware fault...

Galaxy S7 G930U Unlocked stuck in boot loop - already flashed successfully but no fix

I'm really hoping you guys can help me out here. This is an S7 I bought from a Best Buy when I visited the US in 2017, and I got the Unlocked version so I would be able to use it back in my home country. Unfortunately, this is the second time I've had trouble with it in a span of 4 months and the first time it was a hardware problem and ended up quite expensive to get fixed.
Today I was using my phone normally when I decided to use the Google instant translation to translate something on my computer screen. That caused my phone to freeze, restart, and then tell me I was using an unauthorized flash and it was going to be locked, or something like that. Even after restarting a few more times, the phone would never get past that screen. I proceeded to factory reset/cache reset and from then on the phone just got stuck in a boot loop.
I learned that the fix would be to flash the phone. After a lot of work I found the G930UUESACSI1-20190930144640 firmware (the XAA version, for Unlocked) and successfully used Odin 3.13 at the Download Mode screen to flash my phone. It then restarted, went back to the blue screen, started installing some updates, when it was 100% it restarted again. Unfortunately, the loop remained. Galaxy S7 logo first, then the Samsung logo, then it just repeats.
I have also tried turning the phone off with the Recovery screen shut down option (since I can't seem to be able to turn it off with the power button right now), wait a few minutes, then turn it back on. Nothing changed.
Please, does anyone have any insight into this? What else could I possibly try, or what could I be doing wrong? I really don't want to send it to repair yet again in such a short time.
Many thanks in advance.

You need to clear the cache after flashing to get out of the boot loop.
Use the download key combo to restart. As soon as the screen goes black move to Volume up+home+power.
In the recovery menu choose clear/ Wipe cache, then choose reboot.
I apologize for not updating this thread before when it was still recent. The fact is that I didn't manage to fix my phone; clearing the cache after flashing did nothing to stop the loop.
I ended up taking the phone to the people who have fixed it in the past and after more than one month, they gave up. So I got my phone back and I want to try to give it another go before I just sell it for parts.
Unfortunately, my phone has come back even worse. Now it has no Recovery Menu to speak of, at least none that I can access; after a few seconds of the blue text on the top saying that it's entering recovery mode, it then proceeds to a blue screen saying: "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software and is locked.". I can still access Download Mode.
I have attempted flashing a few firmwares that I believe should have worked with my SM-G930U. Odin listed the attempts as "pass" and, after restarting and going back to the Download screen, it says the binary is Official. However, after trying to restart the phone normally, it starts displaying the blue screen again, and then, after going to Download mode, the binary is reverted to "Custom".
I believe right now the order of the day is to get the recovery menu to work again so I can do all the cache cleaning that seems to be required after flashing firmware. Any ideas at all on how I should proceed? Is there something specific I should download to fix the recovery menu?
How many files are you flashing in Odin, is it just 1 file in the AP slot, or 4 files: AP, BL, etc.? Also, is your phone rooted?

Never rooted, was using the phone legit before it froze and entered boot loop. I flashed all 4 files, multiple times.
Someone tried fixing my phone a few days after I replied to this thread and some progress seems to have been made, but now the phone cannot get past a black screen with a "SBL Error! rdx_init!" in red text, and "upload mode" in yellow text. Still cannot access Recovery Mode, but Download Mode still works.
I did a little Googling on rdx_init errors and it seems I need a firmware dump from another G930U or something like that...any ideas on how I can proceed?
Flash it with Eng Boot in all slots using patched Odin. Reboot to recovery and wipe it. Reboot system. Then root it with advanced adb root. Links for all of this are here in xda. Enjoy

Sorry, I'm not an expert at this by any means, I'm not sure what files to get. So far I've found and downloaded the following:
S7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V10
S7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V12
S7_Oreo_Su_Binary_Only_ADB_Root
But I had no luck flashing any of these cause my binary is 10. Is there any more help you can provide me? I really don't know how to proceed

I thought I had one in my phone, but I don't. If you look at the thread where you downloaded the Root_V12, you will see it. It's near the end of the thread somewhere.
