How to use the wide selfie camera in video calls? - OnePlus Nord Questions & Answers

Is there a way to select which front camera should be used in video calls? In Google Duo, for instance.
I can't find any option for that in Duo or settings and maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like a waste if the wide lens can't be used in video calls.

u can't do it. Same with snapchat u can't use other cameras.

Maybe the default camera could be swapped using Magisk or something along those lines. Any ideas how to do that?

Using the Front Facing Camera with a flash application in browser

How do I access my front-facing camera and mic of my transformer in order to use it on streaming video websites like ChatRoulette or TinyChat etc.
I press choose webcam and the camera doesn't show up as an option.
Is there anyway to fix this? Is this something that should go under app requests?
If a developer can figure this out he could sell it for $$$$$.
I was disappointed in this aswell. Also google chat not working to call landlines.

[Q] Rear camera only with Skype

I have a Samsung 7.7 P6800 and I use it as a video surveillance camera with Skype.
In Skype settings I set the automatic answer with video and everything works fine.
The front canera is used by default but I would like to use the rear camera only since it has a better definition.
during the video call there is an option in skype for selecting the camera but working in automatic answer mode it's useless.
I don't need the front camera and I am ready to desable it but I need to keep the rear camera working.
I didn't find any app, can somebody suggest something?
Thanks
I don't think you will find any solution for this. I know g+ you can use the rear but I don't think there is an auto answer?

It's a pity beacuse I can switch from front to rear camera during skype video calls therefore there must be a way for keeping it on rear camera only by default either Android or Skype software modification.
Any expert here who can help?

[Q] What camera app are you using on your idol3?

Google Camera? Camera Zoom FX? The default? What's working for you?
Same question here, stock camera is okay, but is there another app that will save to SD card beside stock

I use the stock app for videos, OpenCamera for stills, Freedcam for landscapes using RAW mode , and Google Camera - if I want panorama or photo-sphere.
'A Better Camera' - will save to SD card. It is pretty nice - but I uninstalled it after I realized that the free version had a limitation of number of HDRs pictures it allows.

Using stock, OpenCamera, A BetterCamera. I like OpenCamera except it doesn't yet support writing to external SD.
My main complaint with the stock camera is that it seems to only support two resolution settings (and I am guessing they are the really the same resolution, just one is cropped to make 16:9 aspect ratio). Am I missing something? Is there a way to take lower-resolution photos (e.g. for web posting or faster email upload) using the stock camera app?
I use Camera FV-5.

Does it allow saving to the external sd on lollipop? As far as I know only the stock camera allows that.
Camera FV-5 I found does not work for some reason on the Idol. I start the camera and get a black screen. I do get the settings but nothing else but a black screen. I going to contact app developer soon about it.
The best camera so far (for any device) it's procapture because: it can silent all the sounds (except those in whats app), it can put the grip on and it can capture just by touch. Besides theese, there are many-many other settings as wb, iso, hdr, light mode etc

Your phone has to support Google's Camera2 API in order for the app to even function. Right now only a few devices even support the official Google Camera2 API. The ones I know of are: Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4. Since the camera hardware is the same as my Nexus 6, I'd expect this app to just work, but Alcatel's software side probably isn't even written with Camera2 API in mind.

[Q] EIS in third party camera app

Hello,
I'm using Background Video Recorder regularly as a secret recording tool and I'm in dilemma for buying the Google Pixel phone as a new smartphone.
I want to know if the Electronic Image Stabilization will work. The question is valid for other camera apps which can record video.
Thanks!
No one knows or willing to try?:crying:
Personally, I'm hesitant to contribute to spying apps. I realize that there are probably legitimate uses but I know of more than a few less savory needs for a camera that records without looking like it is recording. I only hope you represent the former and not the latter. I bring this up only to potentially explain why other folks may have remained silent like I did.
EIS only works in stock camera app. Annoying for me because stock camera app doesnt seem to support external microphones via aux or usb, so I can't use EIS in Cinema FV5 when using a mic.

Can any phones record 2 video tracks from front and rear cameras simultaneously?

I am aware that a number of phones can record video from front and rear cameras simultaneously and produce a split screened video. This webpage summarises such feature:
https://smartfilming.blog/2018/04/1...t-and-rear-cameras-simultaneously-on-android/
But I am looking for a phone that can create 2 separate video files for the front and rear cameras during simultaneous recording. I don't want a video file with a split screen view. I just want 2 clean / separate video files form the front and rear cameras. Do any phones offer such a feature?

I would guess that if you installed 2 additional third-party video recording apps on a Galaxy S9+, split the screen and ran both apps*at the same time, one to record using the front camera and the other app to record using the rear camera, it might work.

I thought about doing that. Can anyone confirm if it works on the newer phones and what the highest resolution is that it will support? I guess anything more than 1080p from 2 cameras would be too much for the phones hardware?
Also what I would really like is a way to launch such recording instantly with a 1 button press, or even remotely from something like a smartwatch. Is something like this possible?
I think that there is an app that can do this job
