I have been obessing over my battery stat page and am trying to figure out what exactly "Android System" is. It is usually consuming the highest percentage of battery power. I have tried everything to figure out what action exactly makes Android System get added to the battery stats page. I have disabled everything, every radio, syncing, deleted all widgets. I hardly have any apps as it is. It just seems rather inconsistent because sometimes Ill check the page after making a call and will find that Voice calls has consumed a small percentage of battery and Android System isn't even on the list. Other times I will take it off the charger and make a 30 minute call, but when I check the stats page 70% battery was used by Android System and only 3% was Voice Calls.
Can anyone tell me exactly what triggers Android System so I can make sure I cut down on its battery usage in any way possible

I assume you are looking in the settings > about phone > battery. You can select android system also and it will tell you more info.

I see that but under more info its not very clear about what's using the batt.

Did a battery calibration and now android system isn't the number 1 thing consuming battery as usual. Weird:

This seems to be more in line with what normal battery usage should look like in my opinion.

I had this problem too until I did a calibration. Now cell standby consumes over 50% of my battery regularly, with android system consuming only 2%.

What would you guys do?
Android system will occasionally use CPU as well, as shown in the following screenshots. Also! My good buddy let me see his Droid x recently. He had 42% battery life left and android system had only taken up 4% of that.
I'm pretty upset about this.

If you asked me I would say all your values are a little screwy. Do you even turn the screen on, on your phone and use it? If you use your phone the Display should be by far the most used. To me it looks like you physically use your phone very little. That is why Phone idle and Android System seem to be the higher numbers.
Guessing you have many accounts syncing in the background. One of the biggies for Android System. So its not that Android System is using so much, the rest of the processes are using so little.
Oddly enough the same thing started happening with my phone recently too.
@Agoattamer
The system wouldn't eat most of the charge in less than 8 hours in normal circumstances. Also about your question concerning accounts, while I'm not seh6183, personally I only have my email account synchronizing and the very same thing happens.
Something is causing the CPU to remain awake, in my case stuck at 800MHz.
The factory reset will most likely solve it, but it'd be best to find the culprit to just try and rectify a specific anomaly rather than reinstalling the whole system.
Has recently any core Google apps been updated? Email, Maps, anything?
I do agree that in 8 hours of non physical use your battery should not be going dead. So I couldn't sleep last night and I did some google searching. Here are some things I found out.
Do you have Googles Goggles installed? Seems it may have a bug where it keeps the camera on even when the phone is supposedly asleep.
Seeing that seh6183 always has his wifi active maybe it has something to do with wifi. I found this from Juri's TechBlog
couple of days ago I finally got the eagerly awaited system upgrade to Gingerbread on my Nexus One. The update went pretty well, although some Nexus One users reported about problems with the updating process. The only thing I noticed is that Dropbox didn't work after the upgrade.
A re-install solved the issue. All-in-all Gingerbread is great. Beside UI enhancements it feels also faster than Froyo. However, after trying it for two days now, I noticed a substantial increase in battery consumption. By looking at the system battery stats (Settings -> About phone -> Battery use), Android System was listed to consume 23% of the battery .
Apparently the problem is a bug in Gingerbread version 2.3.3 (you know there is 2.4 as well) on how the system handles the Wifi adapter. If you go into your Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Wi-Fi settings, press the menu button and click on "Advanced", you'll see a menu entry "Wi-Fi sleep policy". Gingerbread seems to have a problem when that option is set to "When screen turns off". While that may sound to be the most energy-saving option, the bug turns it into a battery killer. If you switch the option to "Never", the Android system will only consume ~3% in the battery stats.
Obviously, in addition to this, the best battery saver is to just turn Wi-Fi off when you don't need it . Caution, if one of the future updates fixes this problem (which I strongly hope), you have to set the option back again.

Something I didn't see but killed my battery on my windows mobile phone was instant messengers. Do you use any apps that are for instant messaging.
Found this thread also talking about the same bug with wifi
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15057
So it seems that if you (cmdr001) also are a full time wifi user, you may be affected by the same bug. Check your wifi sleep policy and adjust your settings to "Never".
Install a battery monitor app from the market or spare parts to see what is using your battery. Install Juice Defender to stop all that excessive useage.
Excellent find!!!!!
Just switched the sleep policy to "never" (which ironically I've always used until very recently). Ill return with results after about 5 hours. The only thing is that I'm on android 2.3.5 not 3.3 so we will have to see if the bug was affecting me.
I also don't have Google goggles. And to the above poster, my phone regularly went into deep sleep so it wasn't my CPU that was staying active.
Oh and I've been using watch dog to look for rogue programs for the last 24 hours. I haven't got a single alert.
Sent from my Microwave
I guess the first question should have been what ROM were you using and to try a different one then. Needless to say it still has 2.3.3 components in it. And if you recently changed that setting then my bet is thats the issue. Goodluck.
Watchdog may alert you if you are using too much cpu at one time but I don't think it will let you know what is constantly using the cpu.
Ok there's a glitch somewhere in the battery tracking. I just checked it and android system was consuming 12% battery. I placed one 17 minute phone call and re checked it, I then had 57% android system consumption.
No way.
I'm using a cm7 nightly and I'm about to flash the stable version with a different kernel. Ill do a full wipe as well.

You could check your wakelocks.
After recharging my battery to 100% and wiping the battery stats, my android system consistently uses 2% of the battery, while the display sucks up around ~40%.
Hi,
The battery life of my Nexus 5 has taken a dramatic hit since the 4.4.2 update. I think the culprit is Android System but the GSAM battery graph seems to suggest that the culprit is Android OS kernel. My Nexus 5 is on 4.4.2, unrooted, stock ROM and the build no. is KOT49H.
In short, my phone does not seem to have a wakelock issue but I can't verify because 4.4 does not allow wakelock access without root. It sleeps fine at night and in daytime when it is not in use. I only lose around 5% or less overnight with 2x battery turning off the data connection and only turning on data connection once every night. The problem is the Android System which drains at least 17% (sometimes 25%) of battery everyday and routinely sits on top my of battery usage chart with or without me actually using the phone. My usage per charge is typically around 6-7 hours with around 1 hour 45 minutes screen on time. I had extraordinary battery life before the update to 4.4.2 (lasting more than 1 day with over 3 or 4 hours screen on time). Now my battery life is completely shot. The battery graphs attached already represent one of the better days. Some days the Android system will drain at 25% or more. You will note my phone relatively slept fine without draining at night in the first 7 or 8 hours and then the battery drain started to take a nose dive after I woke up. I feel that whenever I start using the phone (with the screen being turned on), the battery drain will occur. My observations are as follows:
1. I use LTE but the reception at my home and work for LTE is not good so the radio jumps between LTE and H+ from time to time however I do not think the radio jumping contributes that much to the drain. The drain stays the same even when I am at a place with good LTE reception. I use wifi at home but i cannot connect to wifi at work (which sadly is another issue). The wifi is always off unless i use it at home. I do NOT have wifi scanning in the settings. I have wifi battery optimization on. I never use bluetooth.
2. My google now is off. My location setting is completely off with no location reporting etc..
3. My Google + auto back up is off. I do not use Facebook, Facebook messenger, Instagram, snapchat etc. I mostly use Feedly, Whatsapp, Gmails and look at stock quotes every day. I seldom take pictures, videos or listen to music.
4. I only have one widget dashclock widget. I have removed feedly and stock quote widgets from the home screen but they don't seem to affect my battery usage that much.
5. I use Automateit but only have a few rules such as setting vibrate on weekdays etc.. I do not have any profiles which are related to GPS or location which i understand would drain battery. I also use Dynamic Notification, Light Flow, Lux, Nova Launcher, Notification Toggle and the memory in general is always below 65% in the background. I also use 2x battery to save battery which is set at switching off data after I turn off the screen and it will only turn data in the background every 10 minutes.
6. I have tried safe mode and 9 out of 10 times the Android system drain remains the same. The only way to lower the Android system drain (albeit temporary) is when I turn off the phone and plug it in for a charge, then turn it on when it is full and still plugged in. After I unplug it, the Android System drain will lower to say 7 or 8 % but it will slowly creep back up to 20% within an hour or so.
7. The CPU usage overlay routinely has 9 + readings on the top when the screen is turned on (but with no app running). I think it means very high CPU usage.
8. I do not think Feedly is causing any problems. I deleted the app and the drain remains. I also do not think GSAM is that useful as pointed out by another member here. It points to one app. You delete that app and then the drain remains it will point to something else.
9. I have been using Greenify (non-root) but it does not seem to help with my battery drain as the drain might be caused by system apps or processes within the OS.
I don't know what else to do and this problem has been troubling me for more than 1 month now. Please help !
Update on 24/2/2014:
I have given up and factory reset my phone. After I reset my phone, the apps were installed via Google Play automatically. I also switched to ART. It was fine initially for at least one day. The apps were there but I did not use or enable most of them as I wanted to transfer all my data and tweaked the settings in one goal. I mostly just used Feedly, Whatsapp and Maps for navigation. Even with Maps and high accuracy GPS on, the Android System would go below 10% even though it would temporarily increase to say above 20% during navigation. This morning, I thought the battery seemed ok so I enabled Lux, Dynamic Notifications, Lightflow, Automateit, Nova Launcher and restore the settings to most of the apps.
The Android System drain came back within 2 hours and hit 25% of the total battery drain. My phone's battery dropped from 100% to 40 % in less than 5 hours and the screen on time was only around 1 hour! I never did any battery intensive actions. The most was turning on the phone to check my battery and whatsapped less than 10 messages back and forth ! Since the drain re-appeared, I have turned off completely the location setting, Google Now, sync for Google Plus, auto-backup for Google Plus. I have removed all widgets and disabled Dynamic Notifications, Nova Launcher, Light Flow, Lux. The drain still remains the same at 23% or more.
This is driving me absolutely crazy and I am sick and tired of spending so much time and energy on sorting out the cause for drain (and to no avail!) I spent a lot more time on trying to fix the phone than really utilizing the phone for my benefit !! I just sent an email to the Google tech support and hope they will help instead of sending me generic self-help sheet. Thanks all for listening and trying to help. I am just really disappointed with Google this time.

Thanks for your reply. My N5 is not rooted so I do not have access to wakelock stats anymore.
I have removed Feedly but the android system drain persists.
Not a lot that can be done without knowing the cause. Consider factory reset?

I am hoping I don have to resort to factory reset and can wait for the 4.4.3 update but I guess my patience is running out.
Thanks for your help.
My missus' LG-P880 has exactly the same problem. Just started happening one day. It seems to be wakelock locator alarms according to bbs but there doesn't appear to be any reason for it. Its been driving me mad too. Luckily tho she's rooted so using app opps i disabled Google services location and it's kinda helped

Did you try another kernel ? When I changed to franco kernel, my battery life is better.
having weak LTE signal kills the battery but it should not be this bad.
Maybe you should try a factory reset and see if the problem still persist, if not then you have an rogue app somewhere.
You can use the process of elimination.
Start with disabling Dynamic notifications and Light flow as those have high potential for battery drain.

I had this same problem the other night. Get app ops starter from the play store. In there turn location off in Google play services and android system. Note, this may impact other apps. I don't use any that I need location for so it works for me.

I had a similar issue as well. For me I turned off a couple things and it really helped:
1. Turned off Cerberus, I believe checking location too often or incorrectly or something.
2. Turned off Account sync for Play Newstand. Noticed when a sync would occur, it would hang on Newstand for much too long which I think was waking device and keeping device awake during it's long syncs. Everything else would only take a min or two total.
3. Set G+ photo sync to only sync when on wifi and charging.
4. Removed Yahoo Weather app. Noticed yahoo weather app staying alive a lot too.
5. Removed Whatsapp. Probably unnecessary really, but any of those messaging/weather/location apps that I don't use often (if ever) I removed to make sure they weren't checking location in the background.
So far, I'm at 78% battery today when I would have been at around 30-40% usually, so that combo has made a huge difference.
It's going to be different for everyone I think, but basically just make sure you don't have any excess apps checking location in the background. And at least for me there seems to be something wrong with Play Newsstand sync hanging for long periods of time.
Yea... Even i had the same issues... Latest version killes ma deep sleep mode nd also some of a rules disappeared....
I was having similar issues and was able to narrow it down to syncing Google Services...
I found that often times Google Drive would get hung up when syncing in the background and chew up my battery.
What Google Services do you have set to auto-sync? I would narrow it down to the ones you only really need to have synced in the background and have the others sync up for you when you open them.
Also, in regards to your LTE/H+ signal, have you tried to flash another radio to see if there is any improvement? A poor signal can have a pretty significant impact on battery life as well.
Lastly, as mentioned by another user, Better Battery Stats, though requiring root, will make it a lot easier to track down the culprit of the issue if it indeed a rogue app somewhere.
Try different keyboard. I've a suspicion that latest Google Keyboard is the culprit.
I was having some unexplainable with BBS (no locks, etc.) battery drain. Which can only be resolved (though temporarily) with reboot.
So, I installed alternative keyboard (Swype in my case) and using it. So far, second day I don't have battery drain.
Update
Please refer to the OP for update. Thanks all.
battery after reset
After a second factory reset, I did not install a lot of the apps which I suspect have something to do with my drain - including Swype, Dynamic Notifications, Nova Launcher, LightFlow, Task Manager, 2x battery, Lux, Notification Toggle, Dash Clock, Automateit. I have also set my location to device only with no location history and history. I have also disabled Google Now. I have not restored my photos, music and videos to the phone yet. I have disabled sync for Google Plus, Google Drive etc.. I have also disabled auto back up for Google Plus. I am on ART.
The battery life (with around 25 % left) was around 6 hours 30 minutes or a bit more but with close to 2 hours 40 minutes screen on time. The screen was the biggest draw. Android system comes in second with around 13%. This is obviously better than before where I managed to squeeze maybe a hour or 30 minutes more but with 2x battery turned on in the background. I mostly used the phone for battery checking, whatsapp, Feedly, web surfing. I played games for around 20 minutes. I was not on wifi most of the time. Is this battery performance normal?
Thanks in advance.

I have reset the phone three times. After the third attempt, the battery drain for Android System would go back up to 20% plus. By the test of elimination, I thought I narrowed down the possible culprit to Light Flow and Dynamic Notifications. I uninstalled both of them but the battery drain remained 20% plus.
Google was willing to replace my device. I asked them whether the battery drain is likely a hardware or a software issue or a combination of both. They said (to my surprise) it is hardware issue. It seems they have come across quite a number of similar cases. I always thought it was a bug within 4.4.2 or in the google apps such as Google Play Services etc. and could be fixed by a patch or something. The phone also means a lot to me as it was a gift from my gf. I just don't want to go through the hassle of replacing the device if it is a software problem but I guess I am running out of choices unless I decide to wait for the update. What do you guys think?
It's definitely not a hardware issue. If you Google it there's threads all over the place with all different makes and models of phones having the same problem and no one can figure out why, apart from it definitely seems something to do with Google services (GmsCore.apk)
Your best option is to root your phone and use app ops and turn location access off for every app that doesn't need it. (pretty much everything apart from maps and weather apps)

Sony xperia Z3 Dual D6633 Android 5.0.2 Build 23.1.1.E.0.1
Hi there,
Upgraded my Z3 to lollipop last week and, despite the fact that the upgrade itself was flawless, I think I went from a device that used to work like a charm to one full of annoyances.
On day #1, noticed the batt drain skyrocket. 3h after disconnecting it, it was at 68%, half way through the morning. WTF? was my first thought. On a typical day on kitkat, I was able to end the day at 40% at least.
The second thing I´ve noticed was the phone app. It starts giving me errors, saying that the "network could not be reached" when I try to dial a number. If I insist for 4, 5 more times, it crashes. Dialing is only possible again if I reset the phone.
The third thing is the lock screen. It seems that lollipop has a drop down menu that makes it possible to enable/disable lots of things, like communications and even setting the phone in airplane mode. Imho that´s a huge liability / security risk and it appears that there is no way around that.
Still about the lock screen, it seems to have a bug: if you have any activesync account setup, not notifications will show up, no matter how you configure it (to show all or hide sensitive content).
So, I had only one thing to do, after reading forums etc... factory reseting it.
Surprise! All problems are still there.
Does any1 have any tips on those?
Thanks in advance.
There will be a widget on one of the screens which keeps refreshing itself and I found that to be the battery killer on my 6603.
Did you use any specific app to pinpoint the culprit?
1. It is possible that the battery levels are calibrating and will be imprecise for a while after the update, using the device normally for a couple of days will fix it, or at least this is what I observed in many phones I owned.
2. This is very weird and I can't help you with. If not even factory reset did help you may have some corrupted data on one of your contacts maybe? Try to make a thread about this issue on the Sony forum.
3. I noticed that as well, but even on pervious versions you could turn off the phone so I don't think it changes anything. Make sure to disable the multi user options that would allowanyone to add a new user from the lock screen.
4. Another weird thing, I use exchange accounts on my phone and I don't have any problem on mine. See point 2.
Under
settings>sound and notifications>when device is locked
Set to hide sensitive notification content or don't show notification content at all.
This should fix lock screen displaying email notifications from your exchange account.
Also, unlock phone, pull down notifications, pull down again to reveal quick settings, hit the edit button (pencil) and remove icons but clicking and holding and drawing them to the top. Unfortunately this removes them even when phone is unlocked but of your worried about unauthorised toggling of things on off its the best you can do I think.
As for battery drain, check the battery usage in
Settings>power management
Make sure stamina mode is on, toggle it off then on to make sure.
Select battery usage and check to see if any apps are using more than they should. Make sure brightness is set low but enable adaptive brightness under display settings.

That's not a smartphone anymore, with all functions shut down and brightness low.
This phone has the best screen, use it at least 50% brightness.
I have no issues with the brightness down. It bumps up nicely in brighter conditions and will even max out in daylight. If I ever need it brighter then it's easy to boost temporarily. It's a small price to pay for nearly 24 hours of battery with 5 hours screen on time.
I never mentioned shutting down functions. The only thing I mentioned removing was the toggles that concerned the op on the quick settings. Removing mobile data and aeroplane mode from quick settings hardly cripples the device, I never use these anyway.
I don't think it very useful that there's not more customisation available here such as a complete set of separate lockscreen settings. But if all you can do is comprise then what else can you suggest?
I don't think unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom ROM is something the op wants to do.

You said stamina.
Stamina means already some functions off.
Update:
1. Batt drain
Remains without an explanation. My daily use profile is basically the same as before the update. 3PM and I am at 28%, with stamina on. I can´t recall a day, running kitkat, that I would hit the charger at night with 28% of batt remaining (and I still have 4h to go). It was always on 40% ish. GSAM is reporting that 47% of the batt drain is caused by apps and, from that, 30% is represented by android core apps + android system + kernel. I might be wrong, but I think it is related to reindexing, contact + agenda sync etc and it will probably get lower eventually (I hope!)
2. Phone App giving errors
I think I have isolated the problem. It seems to be caused by TrueCaller.
3. Lock screen
Regarding the drop down menu, It is clear now that what I think is a problem is, in fact, by design and there is no way around it without rooting. But regarding the notifications, I just removed both activesync accounts and I started getting notifications in the lock screen again. So, my guess is that there is a policy of some sort that is being interpreted by the phone as it should hide all notifications from the lock screen.
In fact, there are lots of things that got blocked / disabled because of those policies. Here is a list of things that were disabled and now appear to be working again, after the removal of the activesync accounts:
. notifications are showing again in the lock screen;
. smart lock;
. screen lock options (none, swipe, pattern);
note: I thought that I would be able to enable services in Accessibility, like LastPass or App Advisor by Norton, but it still does not work (I try to enable any of them, but pressing "ok" on the warning dialog does nothing and the only option working is "cancel").
Thinking about resetting it again...
Hi, if problems are persistant you can always downgrad software at KitKat by using FlashTool and wait Lollipop 5.1 (5.1 will probably solve many problems).

A new firmware version has dropped for the Z3 which I think fixes your issues with notifications.
I received it OTA yesterday, I'm running the Balkans customisation.
Thank you for the tip! I hope it does! Will keep it posted here just for the reference. I am starting to feel other "symptoms" as well, like bluetooth instability (you pair a device and it stops working, have to pair again).

I am not being able to create a new vpn connection. I am trying to use the PureVPN and IPVanish client software, but when I try to setup the conection, I receive a disclaimer, saying that my traffic might be monitored, with a "CANCEL" and "OK" options. The OK doesn´t work, only "CANCEL".
My device is encrypted and I have also noticed that I am not able to decrypt it.
Also, If I go to Accessibility and try to enable a service, the same thing happens: a disclaimer appears, saying that the service might observe my actions, with a "CANCEL" and "OK" options. The OK doesn´t work, only "CANCEL".
Any ideas?
Ok, just a quick fup: the ability to create VPNs from apps is disabled if you encrypt the phone. It seems that if you create if before encrypting, it won´t be disabled; but you wont be able to create a new vpn from an app downloaded, after encryption.
Regarding the Accessibility > Services, after a *lot* of research, I have found that Twilight was the culprit. For the reference:

MFirst of all i want to apologyze for my bad English.
After the nougat update i start getting a really bad battery life and have to charge the phone 3 times a day. I start digging in the problem and do test in search for a better battery. I managed to improve my 3hous SoT to get between 4.30 to 6 hours SoT.
The tweaks in this guide are not magical, there are just tips that help me improve a lot my battery life. There is no need to unlock bootloader or to root the phone. The idea is to make a good balance between functionality and battery life. Everyone can choose what thinks they want to sacrifice for battery life and what they want to keep. All the steps that are listed here are reversible and can't harm your device in any way. It is pointed to people that do not know a lot of this subject.
My advice is to full apply all the steps and after getting a good battery life start to enabling the features that you want to have on the phone one by one and test battery.
At the end of this guide there is a section with improvements wich aim is to make the moto x style look like more like the news motorola Phones.
Simple Tips for Battery life:
-After a major OS upgrade it is important to do a full factory reset, full wipe. When logging with your google acount start the device as a new device. Do not restore apps!
-Try to not use the Turbocharger. Based on my own experience, a good 1-2 Amp charger get a lot more juyce that the turbo charger. It may sound weird to you but i tested this a lot of times and really see and important difference. I only use the turbocharge when i am in a hurry.
-Do a full calibration of your battery. Let the battery get to 0%. Turn the phone off and let it charge to 100% and left it plugged a little bit more. After that unplugg the phone, restart it and see if the % is still 100%. If not plugg the phone again after a 100% charge and repeat the process until you get a full 100% charge or near that number.
-A good advice if to left the phone charging in the nigth, or when you think it is a good moment. After get to 100% of the charge, unplugg the phone, restart it and plug it again. For my the battery is not getting a good reading after Nougat update. After a restart i always "lost" like 8% of charge. I do this every time i charge the phone.
-The NOUGAT room is draining battery very very fast when there is bad celular signal. So if you are not having a good celular signal it is a good advice to put the phone in airplane mode until you change your location. Also, there is drain with bad wi-fi signal so try to avoid that too. It is not strong like the celular drain but can influence in your final results.
-Turn off location when you are not using it. If you have to use it try to use the "battery saver mode" and put high accuaricy when you are going to use the GPS for a precise fix or navigation. Google Play Services have and excess use of wackelocks due to location, they are listed ass NLPcollectorwackelock and NLPwackelock.
-If you are on Wifi turn off data and if you are in data turn off Wifi. If you can use both try to use Wifi with a good wifi signal. It uses a little bit less battery that 4G for me.
-Unninstall apps that you are not using or going to use in a short-mid time. They may be running in the background and eating
juice.
-Turn off automatic brigthness. Put your brigth to the minimun you are happy with. I used mine almost in the minimun and i see the screen perfect. Also remember that the power scale is non linear. Putting the wheel in the half of the brigthness bar is not getting you "half the brigthness of the screen".
Download autobrigth switch https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abrody.brightness&hl=es_419 .This make you turn autobrigthness on with a click. This is very usefull if you are outside, let you see the screen with 100% and then let turn it off when you are inside. It is a easy way to manage brigthness.
IMPORTANT:When you are not using your device it must go to sleep mode. It is a mode where the CPU is almost turned off and it doens't drain much battery. Later in this guide i will explain how to properly install a Battery monitor program. It is very important to watch if the device is sleeping ok and there aren't apps with bad behaviours keeping the device awake and draining your battery. This can be seem in GSAM Battery monitor watching the held awake tab. If an app is keeping your device awake you have to uninstall or contact the developer and tell him about your problem with his app.
Tunning the system to Optimize the Battery and Performance:
For this part you will need to have installed ADB drivers, you can download and install from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
You have to activated debug mode on the phone:
Go to settings, about phone, tap 7 times the Compilation Number until you see a message saying that you are a developper. Now go to settingss, developer and activated USB DEBUG mode. To see what apps are running in the background on your phone go to settings, developer, in execution.
Also you will need to install 4 more free apps, later they can be uninstalled if you want:
App inspector to know the name of certain package:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bg.projectoria.appinspector
App Ops to manage special permissions of apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.findsdk.apppermission&hl=es
Shizuku Manager is needed to give the permissions necesary to App Ops:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=moe.shizuku.privileged.api
Gsam battery Monitor for monitoring apps usage:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm&hl=es
The aim of this part of the guide is to disable all the features and apps that may be drainning your battery.
All of this can be reverted one by one after getting a good battery and testing the results and the impact on battery life:
-Turn off location, bluetooth, NFC.
-Go to moto app and turn off Moto Voice, Moto screen, Wave to wake. I keep the flaslight and the cam gesture on but you can dissable them if you want.
-Go to settingss, Motorola privacy and turn off enhancet device support and help us with bla bla.
-Go to settings, security, back up and turn off data back up.
-Go to settings, location, turn of Google location History and share location of google. In the Rigth upper corner tap on the 3 dots and turn of bluetooth scanning and wifi scanning.
-Go to settings, google, search, and turn off all the features like feed, nearby, voice detection, notifications, doodles, google fit, firebase App Indexing.
-Go to settings, google, security, dissable google play protect, etc. (If you consider this ass important do not disable it)
-Go to settings, apps, tap the 3 dots in the upper rigth corner and tap on show system apps. Disable Motorola device manager and Motorola notifications. Also delete the apps data.
-Go to accounts and turn off syncronizations of all the things you really don't need. For instance in google account i left on contacts, Chrome and Contacts info only.
-If you are using chrome go to settingss, site configuration. Turn off location, notifications, sync in the background. In the sync settings just let the chrome sync only what you need.
-Disable all google and motorola apps that you are not using. For instance Google Duo, hangouts, play music, play books, play games, carrier services, Motorola connect, talkback, devices help, etc.
-Search for apps that ask for permission you think they don't need it. Speacially location.
-Turn off special permission that you think apps don't need. The special permission can be managed going to settings, apps, tap the wheel, advance-special acces:Look to "change system settings" and "get over other aplications". Also turn off acces to data usage for Google Play and Google Play services.
-Go to settingss, security, trusted agents, disable smartlock.
-If you have apps like greenify installed, uninstall them.
-If you have home widgets be sure that they are not using your location and also if it posible put the refresh time to the minimum.
-I don't use GBOARD, it was not working ok for me and also draining battery. So i search in the internet and donwload the latest google keyboard version before GBOARD, it works perfect. I do not recommend GBOARD as it is not working ok and it is not propperly optimized.
Using ADB for Background process:
The next step consist of disabling System process and apps that you no not need to run in the background, for example MotoCare:
Motocare is a system process that runs in the background and collects info of your device use even if you turn off motorola privacy features. That not makes much sense but it is there and can't be disable in a easy way.
After installing ADB, drivers and turning on USB DEBUG MODE, plug the phone, go to the search bar in windows and search for CMD. Open it.
Write:
abd devices
Is everything is ok you will see a device in the list that is your Moto x Style. If not figure out what is the problem, make sure DEBUG MODE is on and that you give the propper permission in the phone.
Then write:
adb -d shell pm grant com.gsamlabs.bbm android.permission.BATTERY_STATS
This will let you see full wakelock list in GSAM Battery Monitor app. This is very important to know if there is an app keeping your device awake.
next:
abd shell
cmd appops set "com.motorola.motocare" RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
cmd appops set "com.motorola.motocare.internal" RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
This last two lines will stop motocare. After this go to apps, with "show system apps" on search motocare and motocareint and delete all the data. After that check that motocare is not running in the background.
cmd appops set "com.motorola.ccc.ota" RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
cmd appops set "com.motorola.ccc.checkin" RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
This will turn off OTA services. If you want to take an OTA after this, (if motorola ever send another OTA for our device) you can just go to settingss, about phone and check for update manually. (After enabling Motorola device Manager and Motorola Notification). Anyway is there is a new OTA you probably are going to know it from XDA forums.
You can use the same command to disable apps that you don't need to run in the background but you want to use.
To use this commands just open app inspector, search the app you want. Copy the package name and use the command with that package. Anyway in the next step i will show you a easy way to do the same with other apps that are not from the system.
If you want to re enable and app to run in the background just reinstall it or write the same sentence changing "ignore" for "allow":
For example with Facebook. If you search it in app ops the package name is com.facebook.katana . The name of the package is "katana" because it is like smashing your battery with a Katana lol.
adb shell
cmd appops set "com.facebook.katana" RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
to enable it:
cmd appops set "com.facebook.katana" RUN_IN_BACKGROUND allow
My advice is to not use this command with google services or with system apps you don't know what they do in your phone. It may get you in a problem.
Now we are going to see another way to stop apps for running in the background. This is usefull with apps that you want to keep and don't want to run in the background.
For example in my case, i use facebook app but don't want it to run in the background. Also i disable all navitagion apps to run in the background, Here we go and google maps in my case. They both work perfect when I open they, don't need them running in the background. I let apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Tinder, Facebook Messenger to run in the background because i want to know when someone send a message and don't want to wait until i open the app. If you don't need the notifications my advice is to don't let run in the background. That will get you a considerable amount of battery. Whatsapp have a lot of battery drain. For some reasons it has the acelerometer turn on a ridiculous amount of time and it triggers google play services wackelock PackageMeasuremntservice.
Connect the phone via usb and launch terminal as we did before, search bar and search button, type CMD and open it. Open Shizuku Manager
Wrote in the terminal:
adb shell sh /sdcard/Android/data/moe.shizuku.privileged.api/files/start.sh
if you do it rigth you will see that the server starts running. Now unplugg your phone, close shizuku manager and open App Ops. If you turn off your phone you will have to repeat the process in order to get app ops running again.
Search for apps that you don't want to run in the background. In the permission settings there is "run in the background", you can turn it off or on from there. It has exact the same effect that doing it in the ADB terminal ass we did it in the previous step. But motocare can't be disabled from the app.
Also you can manage all the permission from the apps one by one in a lot better detailed way than from the stock app settings..
There is also a trick with google play services and location. I am getting a big wake up with NLPcollector and variants. If you turn off the network location permission in google play services it will stop the wakelock even if you have your location ON. That make google play services almost drainless. The problem is that some apps may not get a correct location in "battery saving mode" because they use google play services. This is fixed turning on high presition mode or device only mode and letting the GPS do the location work only when you need it.
Finally you can tweak all your apps permissions and see the battery results. The two most important permission related to battery life are the location and the background one. Try to disable location for everything you don't need to be tracking you.
Tunning your Moto X Style:
To get the new Camera app from motorola:
Go to apps, search for stock camera app and disable it. Delete all the app data. Go to settings, security and turn on "Unkown Sources".After that donwload the moded camera app from this tread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/themes-apps/moto-camera-6-0-43-10-modded-apk-t3459690
Restart your phonr and Install it! Now you have the new camera app . It work almost perfect, the only things that are not working for me are: Twist to change to selfie mode, shutter time in pro mode and white balance in pro mode. Don't forget to thanks the developer for this great app. Also turn off Unkonw Sources after the installation.
To get the Moto Z command Widget:
Donwload and install this app:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/themes-apps/moto-z-command-center-widget-t3417171
Don't forget to turn location of the widget off, you can put your location manually and save battery.
Launcher 3:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/themes/moto-z2-play-launcher-google-root-t3623608
It is the new Motorola Stock Launcher. You can try the Moto G5 Launcher too, it is in XDA.
Unlock Method:
The phone doesn't have fingerprint scanner but a good alternative is to use face unlock. LG and Samsung do a lot of marketing of something that is build in on android stock and work almost perfect. Go to security, turn smartlock on.Then go to smartlock and turn on face detection. It works like a charm, is almost instantaneous. My advice is to do this after getting a good battery life as smartlock features can affect battery. Make sure you don't have on trusted places on Smartlock as it drains your battery. Also if you have location ON it may drain your battery even if you don't have trusted place on, so take care. The trusted face feature on its own drains a negligible % of battery.
As i stated in the beggining:
If you want the best battery life you always have to do a compromise between it and features of the phone. For example i love moto display and the wave to wake feature but it takes so much juice of my phone.
My advice is to do all the steps, make sure you are getting a good battery life and after that start reenabling one by one the features you need and watching the impact of them in your battery life. Also i know that some of the stuff i mention may have a negligible impact in battery for themselves but when you put all together they do make a difference. My phone is draining almost 0% on stand by mode with doze. I let it with a %, go to sleep and when i wake up i have the same %.
At this moment i am testing battery on my phone and seeying wich features do make a big diference in battery life.
For instance i am using smartlock, face unlock with location off and in security settings i have android device manager enabled. They seems to not affect the battery performance so much. I will continue testing features to see wich ones are the main offenders.
Any suggestion or any question is welcome! Also if this helps you please let me know and post your battery life before and after.
Great guide, although might a bit extreme for some people to do all of these things.
I can tell you the biggest increase in battery life i have seen is to disable the Moto Display and Moto Gesture to wave over the display... My idle usage has stopped in half and maintains around 2% with it all off.

Yes, i know that for some people it may be too much, but the guide is divided in parts so anyone can take what they seem comfortable with.
I agree with you, wave to wake and moto display are the main offenders and i feel that with nougat the battery drain of this features get agravated a lot more. It is a shame because i really like that features but they drain your battery even with the screen on..
Great guide, thanks
With the Nougat update my sot is way better up to 4 h, while on mm it was around 3.5h.
I just wonder why buy a phone with features like wave hand, etc. and not using them?
That's a pity that Moto doesn't have d2w like lg phones, it's very handy.
I don't like to look for button to press it every time.
I know that's everybody's choice. Just my 2 cents.
Does turning off all location stuff that you mentioned affects any usability, notifications, etc?

If your SOT increased on Nougat, it is because the OS is more efficient elsewhere... hardware power draw cannot be changed with software.
Why not use the gestures? Like anything else, they are unnecessary for normal operation and consume extra battery, waiting for detect you waving your hand over the display takes some power, not a lot, but over 10-12 hours it is noticeable... Why buy a phone with gestures if your just going to turn them off? Because the pluses outweigh the negative and there is no perfect device.
Moto probably doesn't implement DT2W because the screen technology they use would require the screen (digitizer actually) to be powered all the time, increasing idle battery draw from 2-5% per hour. It is implemented in some 3rd party kernels and ROMs, but few people use it because over 12 hours of sleeping time, it consumes 25%-50% of your battery capacity. :/
I'm not going to get into the other stuff, things like disabling Google Play services and location services and stuff like that, just take away too much functionality for my taste for what you gain. In general when not traveling, I need 3 hours of SOT in a day and this device generally makes that. When traveling (which I did on very regular basis for years until this week) I was under 50% before 9am and near dead by noon if I didn't charge or connect to battery pack. So in general these optimization are not enough to do what I need, so I just skip them.

For my after nougat update the battery life go to Hell. I was getting 3hs lf SoT wich is unaceptable for me.
I understand your point and i really like wave to wake. It is nice. For my is nicer to have 5hs or more of SoT. In nougat my wave to wake eats battery like crazy and i really don't need it much. Answering your question, disabling motocare only disable motorola remote support. All the other moto stuff doesn't affect the phone, only disable the OTAs. There is nothing in the guide that compromise basic functionality of the phone, maybe only disabling location permission on google play services with app ops can affect location on some apps. As i stated in the end, everyone have to chose between functionalitis and battery life.
After i managed to get 6hs SoT i start to enabling things and test how was my battery life. I will stop in the 5 hours SoT limit.
At this moment i reenable: moto voice, location in saving mode, smart lock with face unlock, android administrator to lock the device remotely and i am getting between 5hs to 5:20hs SoT. Next step is to try with moto display.

I have run ADB commands and after each and everyone I had no confirmation dialogue nor anything.
I have rebooted device and how can I check if I had done everything right?

If you have done everything rigth you wont see the apps running unless you open they. To see process in execution you have to go to seetings, about device, tap 7 times build number until you get the message that you are a developer.
Go to seeting again, you will see developer option. In there you search for in execution. If you do everything rigth you wont see motocare or moto things runnings. Same with the apps like facebook, etc. They only appear in execution when you open they or have they in recent apps.
Let me know if your battery get improved.
This if from last test:
Enabled moto display, moto voice, face unlock, location in battery saving mode. Disabling background things really help with battety life.

That's really good achievement.
I can't get close to your results.
I have disabled moto apps running in background, location off, Moto display on, wave hand on.
I only use WiFi/network when needed.
Hmm what could be the culprit?
On this charge I think I will get about 4h sot.

Yes, i think the average for those conditions is 5 hs (mine conditions)
Are you using turbocharger? How old is your phone? Maybe the battery is getting bad? Did you disable apps like facebook running in the background? Installed Gsam Battery monitor amd check there isn't an app eating your juice or keeping your device awake? Do you have good signal? My best advice is to do all the steps of the guide and see how much of battery life are you getting in that condition. Them start reenabling things like moto voice, moto display and finaly wave to wake. Did your battery got improved dissabling moto stuff?
Wave to wake for my on Nougat was a battery hog. Maybe try to disable it and see how much your battery improves!
My phone is from February 2017, never used turbocharger (I believe it's killing battery over time). Not using Facebook.
When updated to Nougat I did factory reset and disabled various Google apps that I don't use, like Duo, Google+, etc.
My sot was around 4 h with Moto display and wave hand gesture. After disabling Moto stuff from your guide though ADB I haven't noticed any improvements. I will observe few more days. I don't have any Moto update processes running in background.
I use Gboard and like it very much, so it's a keeper for me.
Thanks

Try one or two days without wave to wake and see how much battery you can get. I don't think Gboard should be a deal breaker in battery life in comparison with google keyboard, i don't think it is the problem. Maybe there is an app keepping your device awake? Your phone is almost new so i doubt from battery problems. Can you post a screenshot of battery usage and signal, awake time, etc, from your android battery usage?
This is from today with mid usage and time with low signal:
Today I did factory reset and will observe how it goes without tweaks but with most apps shipped with phone disabled that I don't use

If you allready did a factory reset i don't think it will give much battery in same conditions and take into account that android take some cycles to calibrate the system and the apps, so battery duration should getting extended during the first week until it reach a plateau.
Just an FYI... Up until a week or so ago, I was averaging 2h 45m to 3h screen on time in an average day and since I started using my phone for work (BYOD program, always had a separate work device before) the battery life started really mattering so I made the following changes...
- Dropped Facebook and Messenger (MASSIVE battery hog apps, always at the top of the list) and moved to Facebook Lite (yes, you can get it in the US, just have to use APKMirror, and it includes Messenger services in the same app)
- Dropped Accuweather (was keeping device awake and accessing location dozens to hundreds of times per hour) and switched to 1Weather
- Dropped Microsoft Outlook (keeping device awake and using background data, and a Device Administrator I didn't want) and switched to Nine
- Dropped OpenSignal (was using background data and waking device very frequently)
- Disabled Moto Display entirely
- Disabled Moto Action Wave to Wake
These 6 things are all I have done... I keep all services active, high accuracy location, all accounts and services syncing, no background data restrictions, no disabled apps, backup and other services like Motorola services all running, no adjustments in permissions, using Gboard as my default keyboard, and I have ~120 apps installed, 80% of which are occasional use only. I use a Quick Charger about 50% of the time for boost charging at work or when traveling, but overnights it is on a standard (5v/1.8A) charger and not QC. I have seen my Doze and Deep Sleep times increase significantly, with Deep Sleep time approaching to 75%... And Screen On Time over a normal day increasing by nearly an hour on average... In fact, yesterday I had my best SoT in over a year with 4h 28m over a 16 hour day in mixed use, including a 6 hour YuGiOh tournament where I used the phone to keep score of my matches (with marginal LTE service and no WiFi), going out to eat 20 minutes away, and then back home for some video game time with friends and still have 20% battery remaining when it went back on the charger, probably could have gotten 5.5 hours if I pushed it near zero. Making it sufficient for daily use for me again.
Am I saying this is the answer for everyone? No, but install a good battery monitoring tool like GSAM Battery Monitor and see what is using your battery (make sure to enable advanced reporting, requires ADB connection)... and don't just look at the default screens, dig into the app after some use. The "View % Power Used" screen only tells part of the story... Make sure to look at View Number Times Waking Device, View GPS Time Used, and View Time Held Awake because some things are not always so obvious. Accuweather for one was "hiding" some of it's usage in Android System and Google services in the View % Power Screen, but when you looked in View Time Held Awake and View GPS Time Used, it became evident it was doing something.
Some other apps which can be culprits are shopping apps, they often track where you are frequently... such as Walmart, Sam's Club, Best Buy, CVS, and most other dedicated apps for shopping. Alternative messaging apps like Messenger, Whatsapp, Kik, Skype, Viber, SnapChat (currently the #1 battery killer out there according to several sources), etc. often keep the device awake and use background data. Airline and other travel apps often check your location every minute or even more frequently even when not open. "Optimizer" apps like LionMobi Power Battery, CleanMaster, and similar tools are worthless and usually consume more resources than they help with. News apps like BBC News often use background data and keep the device awake... Some of these apps might be worth it's battery consumption for your usage, maybe not, the point is to know the problem and decide if it's needs to be fixed or not.
All I am saying here is that before you blame the device or hardware, make sure it isn't your software or usage that is the real culprit, but sometimes it does take some digging.
The last update to the clock app is buggy for me. It is using massive CPU and kepping my device awake for hours. It is important to check if it is working ok.

I would try clearing the clock cache / data
On Gsam the clock doesn't even show up on my CPU usage.

Allready did that but it didn't fix it. The problem was sporadiclly. Finally uninnstaled the update, cleared all the data and updated again, no sign of the problem for now! Thanks!
Facebook lite and messenger lite if you use those services help a ton all by themselves. Shopping apps I disallow them using background data and location. It's doesn't take that long to grab location once open. Saves a great deal of data and battery.. Amazon apps turn off background data takes care of most battery drain issues related to them.
First off, I love the phone and I'll keep it, but ever since I got the phone I've been wondering why it's draining so much in standby. It's my first Samsung phone since 2011, so naturally I assume it's Samsung apps/services that drain? Especially since I don't use any new apps than on my other phones and in the battery stats it doesn't really show any user apps that use a lot.
Anyone has way to measure what system/user apps drain during standby? Or even better, any dev that could do a deeper dive into this?
For example, I just lost 32% battery while sleeping for about 8h, it has never been this much on any other of my previous phones (OnePlus Nord/Pixel 3a/Pixel 3/Pixel 2).
In fact, my OnePlus Nord with 815mAh more than the Flip3 is currently on last charge 3 days ago (it doesn't show me hours anymore) and 2h35m SOT and 25% battery left. On the Flip I just now got 17h with 1h30m SOT and 5% left. Settings all similar besides location accuracy turned off for the Flip as that was a massive drain.
Something must be unintentionally draining the battery during standby and I really hope one of you smart guys can find it. Or Samsung fixes it with an update..
I disabled AOD and any unnecessary account sync processes. It's only drained about 2% in standby the last 5 hours, but there are still some things to finish configuring.

If have AOD on a schedule so it's turned off during sleeping, account syncing I don't have anything that I can turn off and I never did on any previous phone

How old is your device? You got to give it some time to settle. I had 15% battery drain the first night, after that it went down to 5%.

The first step in improving the battery is to remember that this isn't any other phone. You may want to explore what options are available and what all you have enabled. By default, almost everything is on to show off all the cool new features that make this a Flip 3, not a OnePlus Nord.

Not true. Samsung has a bunch of features still in use.
Settings -> Advanced features -> Motions and gestures has a whole collection of things that are still running when the screen is off (and most aren't useful to the Flip, but came from "another phone").
Settings -> Cover screen allows you to disable turning on the screen when notifications arrive, if that is not something you need.
Also, unless you are using the app to lower the refresh rate, you may be running a bit high when idle.

I've turned a few things off there, but a lot of them OnePlus has too + a few more, which I had all enabled

I didn't really get any notification during last night, so I doubt this was the culprit

Yes I'm using that app and have it set to 48-96Hz
Appreciate the help, I believe there must be something that's unintentionally draining and while I went through every single setting in the beginning, I'm still very new to OneUI (and also impressed how far it came from the TouchWiz ****show)
One thing I always forget is that a lot of those features are running services and polling when they're enabled. Even though I'm not touching the screen with the tap to wake enabled, it's constantly waiting for that tap when it's asleep. Any one isn't a big impact, but Samsung has so many "convenience" features that I end up wasting battery to never use.
The calibration period is also horrible. Android 11 is slow to calibrate the battery and Samsung is worse. You can get a good idea of what is draining battery by going to Settings -> Battery and device care -> Battery. That may help find out if it's a renegade app.
One thing Asus does that I wish Samsung would embrace is Auto-start management. Some apps aren't efficient at polling for notifications and more than once have been the cause of major drain.
Another one even Samsung admits to be a source of drain is the edge panels. If you don't use them, it's best to kill the entire feature.

I just assumed it's not a big impact as OnePlus has those as well, for example draw a "V" on screen for flashlight or ">" to skip song besides the regular double tap to wake and it never appeared to be a battery issue for me before.

Do I assume correctly that some system apps or similar are hidden there? I just did the calculations and the percentages only make up 43.6%. I attached a screenshot

OnePlus also optimizes them better than brand new Samsung firmware. I had a lot of stuff enabled on the Note 20 Ultra that I won't be using for a month or two now.
Some apps are excluded, but it will let you know if it's something not included with the phone.
Another good idea is to uninstall, disable, or "adb uninstall" any bloat you don't use. Besides clearing up space in the app drawer, it kills off services you don't use. A lot of the apps will run services even before you sign in, even though they aren't actually handling any data.

I already went through the list and uninstalled which I 100% knew what it was and that it's not needed, but not sure about 99% of Samsung stuff. Some Samsung apps on the phone I don't even know what they are and when I start them it just prompts to agree to some terms before starting the app... I'll have a look around for a Samsung debloat list

If you have the unlocked version, they allowed uninstall for a lot of apps that were previously locked. A lot can also be downloaded later from Google Play or the Galaxy Store if you change your mind.
I use Firefox, so I uninstall Samsung Internet and Chrome. Members and Health are two big ones that like to run those "please enable us" services. It's a lot of deciding what you might use versus what you can live without.
Another good idea is to add anything you won't use, but didn't remove to deep sleeping apps to kill it's ability to run in the background. It's the closest thing to auto start management without rooting.

So far I don't have much hope sadly. Whole day currently at home and not using the phone much and it's looking like in the screenshot (screen off, loosing almost 2.7% per hour, as comparison my OnePlus is at 0.9% per hour)
https://imgur.com/RLITZwQ
It's 21:21 at the moment and I'm at 54% after 9h 42m (comparison OnePlus with 815mAh more: 7% after 79h with 2h54m SOT)

I'll probably head to bed in a few hours and then report back tomorrow morning how much I lost during the night..
I'm not claiming to have amazing battery life, since I almost considered keeping my trade-in and returning this one over it. I am interested why it is so bad for others, though.

HOLY **** I would love to have this battery life. I'm literally not doing anything with the phone and just loosing so much. I'm pretty much the opposite of a power user, so my phone is in standby most of the time and loosing so much is pretty frustrating.
EDIT: I might have an idea why it's so bad for me, I don't really have reception in my apartment (as you can see on my screenshots), so I assume it's constantly trying to get better receptions, I see 2 bars sometimes, but most of the time 0. I'll keep my phone at the window where I have reception for the rest of the day and see if it makes a difference. (Although the OnePlus has also bad reception, but does have a different carriers SIM card)

Dependencies, dependencies, dependencies... some of those apks just sit there unless needed.
Do not disable apks/services unless you know what they do and what, if any, their dependencies are. Go too far and you'll end up in a boot loop.
What works for others probably isn't ideal for you.
Package Disabler is a better option as you easily toggle apks on/off as needed.
Screen off the serial offenders tend to be Google backup Transport, Framework and any cloud apps.
Try disabling Google play Services at night and see if that helps. You may need to disable Find my Device first as System Administrator if disable is greyed out.
Disabling play services also kills Gmaps and Playstore which are know hogs. Gmail as well to a lesser extent.
Google Firebase, do you need it? If not disable.
Carrier, Google, Samsung and app feedback, disable.
Using power management can cause erratic behavior and not solve the problem. Treat each power hog on a case by case basis instead. It takes a lot longer but yields a cleaner, more stable setup.
Play with it, go through -all- the settings. It's actually quit fun to explore and almost impossible to crash and burn.
