Hey everyone. I'm the developer behind Fishpowered browser. I've been working on this in my spare time for the past couple of years and am starting to feel more comfortable in sharing my progress!
Here are some reviews from the Play store to whet your appetite...
This is THE BROWSER! There is simply nothing like it out there! I'm a geek obsessed browser lover and I cannot believe it! It has it all! Speed, customisation, takes very little space! And the cats on top of all as if it wasn't enough with just being the best there is!

Epic!! Developers might have gone and made the best browser app for Android. Customisation options are great.

Im absolutely blown away how good this browser is, and its super user friendly. And I really love the gestures. Keep up the awesome work.

I've totally just over hyped it but I needed your attention. This is actually my first android app (I'm a web dev by trade) and my technical abilities don't match my ambition yet, but it's getting a little closer with every release!
Why should you care about Fishpowered browser?
There are browser conventions that are widespread and probably shouldn't be e.g. UI layouts that require hand gymnastics, "bookmarks", browsing history etc. I've tried to re-design everything with a fresh pair of eyes.
What are my motivations?
Having a successful project
Building something that protects my privacy and lets me uninstall many other apps on my phone
Making a browser that gets rid of all the spammy cr*p you see on sites these days
Helping people out with internet addiction and responsible internet/phone usage. This is not something that's actually in the browser yet (I've been trying to build a solid base first) but is coming in the future and I have some interesting ideas for it.
Making a browser that works well with one hand
Making a browser that's good for language learning (I'm trying to learn Finnish)
How do I make money?
I don't. There is zero ads/spyware/crapware and there never will be. If it ever gets really popular (maybe 100k+ active users? I dunno haha) I would monetise it by selling themes and accepting donations. Nothing that compromises anyone's privacy. But I only have a few hundred users so I guess that's not likely to ever happen.
Is it open source?
Nope, not while it's still being developed. You can follow the development and see the code on Twitch though (channel: fishpowered)
How can I trust this?
Good question which is unfortunately difficult to answer. As mentioned above I try to do a lot of coding on twitch. I also made a video where I download Fishpowered and the major anti-virus apps from the play store and ran through all the tests so you don't have to: www.twitch.tv/videos/877039346 If you watch the video you'll see why this would be incredibly hard for me to fake because of the infinite picture in picture.
Do not trust any download links outside of this post and Google play store as I have nothing to do with all those other APK sites.
What's bad with it/still left to do?
It's built on the Android webview component which is essentially a wrapper for Chrome. This has the advantage that you get security updates instantly (whenever Chrome is updated) but also has some limitations as it wasn't really designed for being a full-on web browser. For example, I try to add a lot of context sensitive help e.g. if you select some metric/imperial unit in a recipe, it will convert the unit for you, but things like this won't work inside webpages that use iframes (e.g. Google AMP) because webviews can't view selections inside an iframe. Performance isn't amazing either, if you have an old device, you may struggle a bit.
Lastly there are some other things that could obviously be added/improved but simply don't make sense for me to spend time on yet if they will take ages or are very niche features, it's just me working on it in my spare time.

Having a quick play around with fishpowered browser and I really like it.
Kudos...and welcome to XDA

Made some Fishpowered themed mobile wallpapers as well if anyone's interested...
Download from deviantart: https://www.deviantart.com/fishpowered/gallery/74845548/mobile-phone-wallpapers

Wow, a powerful browser with 3.7Mb app size... Gotta try that

Recommendations
Ability to import bookmarks
Ability to not play videos instantly when page opened(site settings)
When typing an address of a site that visited before, whole address of that site can appear in the address bar
When typing something in address bar, search results should be positioned below the middle of the screen, close to the address bar(to help one hand usage)
When using swipe up to close a tab, it should also check the swipe speed/distance of finger, instead of checking only swiped-to position in order to make fast but short distance swipes work

Thanks for the feedback. Most of this was already on my todo list. The bottom alignment of the search results is tricky though without completely changing how the speed dial works as those screens show all sorts of things and the point is u can filter those as well, not just the suggestions. I will try to improve it as I obviously want it to work on phones with tall screens too

Bruh, this is my new Naked Browser. Love it! My only future request is to be able to arrange the favorites..drag and drop maybe?

Browser keeps logging me out sites after some time. If I go into incognito mode, I'm logged out when I return to default tabs.

Should be fixed in 1.4.0! Never thought this was possible due to not being able to change the default cookie manager but I found a workaround.

This works for me.

Great browser, been using it as my main browser for 2 days and it works well, sans packed with nice features.
Only issue I've encountered so far is that LastPass isn't working properly. Instead of detecting which website I'm browsing, LastPass only detects the browser itself (eg. Fish powered) so it doesn't propose any password for the site I'm on.

I've submitted a bug report to Google. Unfortunately the autofill API doesn't work and the console log gives me no useful indication as to why and documentation is scarce. You might be able to workaround this by pinning your current tab to the mini window and then trying from there as it least in the preview window the autofill works with Google's default autofill

I was having the same issue with Vivaldi browser for Android. I looked on their forums and they have a thread regarding this. The devs on there have talked about this same issue and apparantly it's not something easy to fix... Here's the thread, if it has any value to you :
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/40036/lastpass/20
Specifically in the last page:
In order to support Android Autofill API, we need to get on Android's compatibility list. How to get on this list is something the team has been trying to figure out, but we've exhausted quite a few options without much success.

Thank you bruh. I understand that you are still learning. I would like the ability to drag and drop tabs. Also, could you make the option to make tabs smaller so we can fit more than 3? I will now go to donate.

1.4.0 Released! Will be available on Google Play Store in the next 1-7 days (once it gets approved).
Alternatively, check the OP for apk download although if you are already installed using the play store it is recommended to stay on that.

2) backup and restore all active tabs and settings. for long term use and saving all actives tabs to say, an html file or plain text.
3) html content hide feature is awesome, very nice. dark mode is great.
4) more quick actions and customisations please
will keep on using daily to test and report on bugs.

Feature Requests:
* Please consider an application icon that reflects the comic-centric nature of this reader.
* Right-To-Left Manga reading was chosen as default, should be Left-To-Right, or have a dialog asking the user what he reads most frequently mangas or US comics, and choose accordingly.
* When going to the next page, please move the page to the top corner, right now it moves to the center of the next page. Same for previous page.
* Option to force screen on all the time while reading
* Option to force screen brightness while reading
* Option to show low battery warning while reading
* Pinch-to-zoom - it's just too convenient and expected by users
* Homescreen Widget 2x2/3x3 - the latest opened comic book/page. Shows the latest opened/read page, and in its corner a smaller thumb of that comic book's cover. Also info about the name and the page number, both optional from widget settings.
* Playlist (Reading Order) management.
* Shortcuts - create Playlist or a Folder into a screen shortcut. When clicked, move to the latest opened comic on it's latest read page from that Playlist or Folder.
Do most of these (Playlist may require more effort but is worth it) and slap a 2.99$ price, and I'll buy it immediately.

Thank you for your suggestion.
1.I'm a programmer not art designer. So my art sense is not enough to design a good icon. I'll try to think other design.
2.I make this software is mainly for read Japanese comic(Manga). So I make Right-To-Left as default. Maybe show a dialog to let user choose on first startup is a good idea.
3.Yor may try set page origin to reading direction
Menu -> Browse -> Reading direction
4~7. I'll add these function in future.
8~10. I don't have plan to add these function currently. There is many other function need to add. Maybe I'll consider these when I completed other function.
This app is great, small but powerful, thanks for you work!

XDA is rife with designer talent that is eager to work for quality projects, so maybe you should just look around and ask for art/theme designers to land a hand or provide assets for backgrounds, etc? You will be surprised just how much your app will be improved with proper artwork.
Very nice app, fast and powerful. I have been looking for a simple sequential image viewer like this since I got my Android phone and I've tried quite a few; this is the best I've seen yet.
What I like:
Fast interface
Customizable touch zones allow quick zooming and navigation
Good format support
Can browse into directories that start with a dot
A few improvements I'd like to suggest:
I like the option to select the resampling method, but nearest-neighbor doesn't look very good and the other options perform too slowly on my phone to be practical. Other image viewers (such as the default Gallery) seem to handle image scaling with a better quality/performance tradeoff. Also it seems like there is an off-by-one error when selecting the sampling method, when I select a method I always get the method just above the one I selected.
It would be nice if there was an option for automatically switching screen orientation when the phone is rotated. Also, when I switch orientation the app steps forward to the next page, I think it should stay on the same page.
I don't see a long-press action, that could be another configurable action. It might be useful to display the touch commands on long press in case you forget some of the less-used commands and need a reminder. Or it could be configured to execute some other action.
The app is not too big currently, but it is larger than some other similar apps. For example ACV is under 300KB.
All in all, great app! Thanks for releasing it and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it in the future.

1.You can choose Averaging method it's have normal image quality and fast.
And you found a bug I'll fix it soon.
2.Automatically switching screen orientation will be add in future. You found another bug I'll fix it soon.
3.I don't have plan to add long-press action currently.
4.Because this app is use native c++ library(libpng, libjpeg etc.) to handle image&archive files so will be a little bigger
Can you make the app show thumbnail's of the jpg/png (not the comic book files)? This way, I can finally get rid of the android gallery app. I will gladly donate if this feature can be done.

fantastic app!
lol, i think i've been using this more than any other as of late.
just wish it would render a little faster on anything other than 'averaging' and 'nearest-neighbor' as the quality of the others are much better, but don't think there's much you can do about that.
again, awesome!
Hello,
I apologize in advance because English is not my native language.
I try to use your program in a tablet, SmartQ V7, with these features:
Android 2.1
600MHz ARM11 CPU
Memory 256MB DDR II RAM
Virtual Cache 128MB
The problem is that when you open the comic book closes automatically.
I tried the following:
Close all aplicaiones to free memory, free memory getting about 80 MB,
Turn off cache in settings
I would love to test your application as it is highly recommended.
Thank you very much

Version 1.2 is a great improvement, the new UI is very smooth and has a profesional feel to it.
Still, there's one minor annoyance that's fairly easy to fix and will greatly improve my experience with your comic viewer. I like the slide command where instead changing the page, the screen slides down the page until it reaches the bottom, then changes the page. What I find annoying however is that the distance the screen slides is not configurable. It would be great if we can change the screen slide distance. The slide distance can be a value that chan be changed with a slider, or presets based on fractions of the page height, i.e. 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2.
Thanks a lot.
I have Android as the operating system in my tablet (10" Eken M006). Before knowing Perfect Viewer, I would prefer my images in PDF, despite some problems, but now I have changed my mind. Your application has some interesting qualities (that Documents-To-Go lacks when opening PDF files):
1. It fits the image no matter the size of the previous one.
2. It remembers last viewed page.
3. The page does not rotate automatically, what is a bless. I suffer a lot when the page rotates by itself. It would be great if you added a "page rotating" function.
Page orientation is not the problem. I read many Western reading books, and pressing the screen on the left or the right side is indifferent.
The application will be even better if it could open other image formats, like GIF and BMP. If you could include PDF files, it would end up simply perfect.
Thanks a lot for the great job.

Version 1.2 is a great improvement, the new UI is very smooth and has a profesional feel to it.
Still, there's one minor annoyance that's fairly easy to fix and will greatly improve my experience with your comic viewer. Thank you for your suggestion. But currently I have no plans to add this function. Maybe I'll consider it after complete other function.

can't sign in to google, i always end up on http://https://signin.google.com/... after entering my login data with 2-way-auth enabled (and yes, i tried removing one of the protocol identifiers)
@XlAfbk, are you trying to access http://signin.google.com/ ?
Or you are trying to sign into any Google service? By the way, I was able to sign into Gmail...
Please let us know, thanks alot =)
I dont understand the gestures. Is there a way to set your own? Is there a way to just go back or forward with a screen swipe? I see the yellow line but I dont see any settings for it.
Other then that, its passed my 10 minute test. Ill try it longer. Haven't tried flash yet, or sharing links, copy and paste. Cool ui though. Very miren.
@irish22022, thanks alot for your feedback.... we'll thinking of adding gestures setting in future releases.. =) Please stay tuned, and let us know any other feedback after more testing,,, thanks alot again Irish22022.

I'm trying to signin to any google service, e.g. mail, reader, directly from homepage, ...
problem prolly exists with 2-way-auth only, make sure to enable that for testing. I just confirmed the issue in SDK emulator, it's definitly a bug in your browser, doesn't happen in any other
@XlAfbk, thanks for reporting..... it's confirmed, and we're looking into it... =)
Hi,
Been using this for past couple of days.
Good points.
1 Fast but not the fastest
2 Instant back
3 RSS doesn't seem to auto start any more
4 Nice layout
Bad points
1 Uses way too much memory, only had Maxthon running with one tab but it was using over 95mb & between 0 & 60% of CPU
2 No real way to customise search engines, always searches google.com & not google.co.uk
3 Start page with the collapsible links looks like Miren & again doesn't seem to allow changing or editing the links
All in all a lot better than v1 but still some room for improvement, suffice to say uninstalled dolphin mini to use this as backup browser as Xscope Pro is main browser.
Cheers,
Banzi.
1. If you open a secure link from another app (say my friend sends me a Facebook link, https://Facebook.com...) then it puts HTTP:// in from of the already existing protocol designator. That should be fixed.
2. It still has the issue where sometimes on opening it it will reopen links that I've clicked before in a new tab and I have to close it.
3. You should definitely get flash options working (e.g. always on, click to play, etc) because A. flash ads are annoying and mess with mobile formatting and B. they use a lot of memory.
4. It would be really nice if we could choose what the default page is, like bookmarks or a new tab page or something. I never use the home page with all those links, I'd like to be able to open the browser straight to whatever page I want.
5. This isn't an issue, just personal preference... I love that you guys got themes working, but I don't really like glossy gradients, like on the tab. I think it would look better if it were just a dark gray to medium gray from the bottom to the top of the tap to give it a shadowy look instead of shiny. (that's on the gray theme of course but the same principle would apply.)
All in all, great work and you guys have really improved this browser.

@BanziBaby, thanks for trying it out. It is the bad points that we pay extra attention to. The bad points are great great suggestions...
@sageDieu, thanks much for taking the time to give us these comments.
Yes, we're aware of the issue with secure links. =(
Also, we LOVE the default page suggestion from you......

I believe one good way to conserve memory would be to have flash click to play as I suggested. I've noticed very major memory spikes when even a couple of simple flash ads are loading on a site. And on some music blogs and things that have a lot of little flash players (like up to 20 on a page) it becomes almost unusable.
you're welcome btw, glad to help. I love beta testing and bug reporting

Nice work guys, just downloaded and tried out:
I would have few notes for first sight
1. When you drag the page and try to scroll up/down there is at about 5-7 millimeters of finger-move when nothing happens. Scrolling shoud be instant and not laggy. BTW at the same time for basic scrolling movements (r/l/u/d) appears the yellow line too, which is useless as far as it's not a gesture.
suggestion: no line for scrolling gestures
try to find cause of that lag
2. When I enter an URL and the page appears i like to have an overview of the whole page first in order to find the interesting part easily.
suggestion: It would be good to have page overview as default page loading method or at least a switcher in the settings for it.
3. Entering URL during browsing is not comfortable.
-there's no possibility of that in fullscreen mode
-in normal mode you have to scroll to the top, but the url bar is still not there, THEN u grab the page again and pull it down: now u can see the bar.
suggestion: easiest would be when u push the menu button the url bar appears too, or at least a button for the menu for new page; both in normal/fullscreen mode
Thx, it's a really good start
edit: forgot to mention - Samsung Galaxy S
Another bug found. When posting in forums (this one for example) you are unable to attach files. This is not an issue with the stock browser, Firefox Mobile or Miren.
Also. What's the word on flash content floating above the browser UI and a "Desktop UI" option?
(Having the two threads is a little confusing. Hopefully this is the right thread for 2.0.)
@marcedli,
suggestion 1) is very very nice, and we're aware of this now
suggestion 2) what do you mean by the page overview?
suggestion 3) I am seeing the addressbar when I browser, are you referring to a particular page when you browse and you dont see the addressbar?
Thanks for all the great feedback.... =)
@Lokifish Marz, thanks for reporting the bug of not able to attach files
"What's the word on flash content floating above the browser UI and a "Desktop UI" option?", i know that you dont mean by UA strings, but can you elaborate a little more?
Also, what do you mean by two threads? You mean I have two threads for Maxthon Mobile in XDA? Thanks much =)

If you guys get the file upload and flash/iframe issue fixed you'll be ahead of everybody else. Only the stock browser has file upload, proper flash/iframe binding and flash playback.
Examples of a "Desktop UI" As far as the feature set, it's covered in the linked thread. If you have more questions or need more specific details then feel free to PM me.
The only problems I have is it closes your tabs now when you try to goto another app and come back

Some other observations,
Opening a boo0kmark always opens in a new tab even if open in new tab isn't ticked in options.
As the poster above says if you use the built in task switcher on galaxy S the browser always seems to open another tab that replicates one that is already open.
Can't seem to find a way to use speed dial as main page rather than the links page there is the now or is that the speed dial page?
On demand option for flash is needed badly as all the flash ad's slow down browsing.
More themes or support for user themes (the gray theme is more blue than grey & a black theme would be nice)
Keep up the great work, damn fine browser you have made.
Cheers,
Banzi.
@BanziBaby, thanks for all the great feedback.
On demand flash and flash playback is already in the works..
the speed dial page is the page when you open a new tab...=)

Help - Tips and Tricks
Open link in foreground:
If you have open links in background checked then you can open a link in a new tab and show it immediately by long pressing either "open in new tab" or "open in incognito tab". If you have open links in background unchecked you can do the reverse by long pressing either of those options.
Reopen closed tab:
Simply long press the new tab button (not in overflow menu) and it will be reopened.
Share link:
You can add this option to the long click popup dialog from Display Settings > Edit link dialog menu
Undelete or Unmove bookmark:
Long press back button (not hardware or onscreen back)
Open bookmark in new tab:
Long press the bookmark without moving it to show the menu
Incognito bookmark folder:
Long press plus button when viewing bookmarks to show hidden folder. You can delete it and it will still be kept, but if you rename it and delete it the folder will be replaced with an empty one.
Use Hardware Rendering (Advanced Settings)
This enables hardware rendering for webviews and should only be enabled if you're experiencing very bad performance. It might help, or it wont make a difference in which case leave it off. This will use additional resources and RAM - it might also use more battery so you shouldnt enable this if the webview is rendering and scrolling fine.
Maximum performance
The most efficient layout is the bottom drawer layout, it only has 2 immediate children: the webview and the the toolbar. The bottom drawer is only made visible once you click the tab counter or when you touch at the bottom of the screen, this lets the UI avoid any additional layout calculation for the drawer. Scrolling is noticeably smoother with the bottom drawer and it most likely uses less battery in comparison to the other layouts. You can also turn off the pull to refresh to reduce the touch logic albeit for an insignificant gain. Disabling the adblock and manually adding urls as needed drastically reduces the amount of RAM the adblocker takes up and I would definitely recommend this.
Permissions
GPS - For websites that want to use location
Storage Access - Downloading files, crash logs, and for the built-in file manager
Network Access - Have a guess
Read/Write Bookmarks and History - Speed needs to be able to import bookmarks from chrome
Draw Over Apps - Floating window for tablet mode so Speed can draw over apps
Credits
This project would not be possible without the amazing work ACR development so huge thanks to Anthony! You can find the Lightning Browser repository and source code here: https://github.com/anthonycr/Lightning-Browser
I'd also encourage everyone to try out lightning browser (play store)
Since Speed is a fork of lightning, parts of Speed that contain lightning browser source code are licensed under Mozilla Public License 2.0
You can find the source code for Speed here: https://github.com/fusionxr/Speed-Browser
Additional classes and layouts that do not contain lightning code are not required to be disclosed under the MPL 2.0 hence why I've ommited them and the build will fail.
Special thanks to @beemgee, @IAmLucky, @Mrxyzl, @ratbags, @60nine for their early beta testing and continued help in improving Speed
Also huge thanks to everyone for all the support and for putting up with and reporting bugs.

I'm glad it works for you! As you mentioned, chrome takes up a lot of ram on my galaxy s3, and I'm pretty sure most people face that problem with 1gb of ram, hence my reason for making this app.
I'm thinking of publishing this app on the Google play marketplace if I get enough good feedback.

Found the bug! All fixed now.
My gosh so quick
It's actually solved
You are the best
Love this so far. Could we have the option for the stack of tabs to come down from the top rather than build from the bottom of the screen?
Great use of material design - looks really clear. When will be released to google play?

Text Aide started out as a simple Xposed module called Text Xposed to add 3 options (Define, Search and Share) to the Contextual Action Bar when some text was selected while typing.
But now it has a lot of features which do not require Xposed at all.
• Define Picking up from xDictionary by @perseus0807, this displays the definition of the selected word as a pop-up. Ideal when you are reading an e-book or a news article and find it rather distracting to open a dictionary app again and again.
There are two ways to do this without Xposed
• First is to activate a feature called "Copy to define" from the settings. As the name suggests, you just have to select some text and hit the copy button.
It can be easily paused from the notification when you don't need it.
Enabling the + button shows you a pop-up with the copied text, which is useful in apps like WhatsApp where a word can't be selected singularly from the chats
• Second is to share the text and select Define
• Third is to use the homescreen widget
• For Play Books you can also use "Web search" feature. And for Moon+, FB Reader dictionary feature choose "ColorDict"
• Offline definitions available in 5 languages currently: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish
• For more languages you can use my app Dict Aide which supports StarDict dictionary packs
• Online thesaurus with a list of synonyms and antonyms
• In addition to that, you can quickly switch to Wikipedia for additional information and Wiktionary for languages that currently do not have offline access. You can do this in any language! Just modify it in the settings.
• Expand This gives you system wide text expansion. You can define a macro (shortcut) like @addhome to type your full home address! Very useful if you type something often.
Just set a shortcut and let Text Aide do the rest!
• Search You can add a list of your favourite search engines and access them quickly from a sidebar. Also includes a floating browser
• First way is to use Copy Aide and enable the search button from the notification.
• Second is to share the text and then select 'Enhanced Search' from the dialog
• Third is to use the search button in AOSP (based) browsers or apps like Wikipedia.
• It can also be done using the homescreen widget
• Share You can do the following things by sharing text
• Copy - As the name suggests, you can copy it from the share menu
This will also be shown in browser selection menu (when you tap on a link).
• Dial You can use the shared text to place a call.
• Open As URL - This allows you to open the selected text in the web browser as a URL/link (if it's valid).
• Speak Using this feature, you can make (almost) any text on your device speak using TTS engine.
This can be very useful if you're learning a new language!
Please watch the video for a good demo on how to use it.
Xposed gives you additional control. You can double tap a TextView (which means fields like WhatsApp chat bubbles, YouTube comments, Play store description, etc) to force selection.
This, however, has some limitations and might not work in all apps.
You will also get all the five buttons (Define, Dial, Search+, Share & Speak) in the contextual action bar on selecting some text in most apps.
For Chrome, you can use my module called Chrome Selection Patch
Browsers like Dolphin, Opera, etc are not supported
Installation
Download from Play Store or Xposed repository and install as any other app
Known Bugs
Overflow button gets camouflaged if the background of action bar is white (Android bug)
Selection handles and paste button overlap the overflow menu
Anything else? Let me know
To Do
HTC Compatibility

For Xposed users, this is useful in apps like Google messenger where double tap doesn't work.

- You can now select the views you'd like to keep. Default is set to English and Wikipedia
- Wikipedia's langauge can be changed according to your needs. Default set to English (en)

2.1
Quick fix update
- Improved pop-up: Smaller size and better padding. Must look much better now
2.0
Major Release!
The Define framework has been revamped completely!
It was previously based on xDictionary's code, and hence used "WordNet" database for definitions. Unfortunately, it lacked many words, as you must have experienced.
Now, Text Xposed has switched to Livio's Dictionary Provider code.
Advantages
- The most obvious advantage is that the module's size has shrunk to ~50 KB.
- The defintion is now displayed using WebView, so you can pinch to zoom and select text inside it to copy or share
- Livio's dictionary is very comprehensive. You can even search for small words like is, that, etc. And it gives you etymology, synonyms, translations, etc along with the defintion!
- The module and dictionary app complement each other really well. You have a different UI to search for words, when Text Xposed is not accessible.
- You get proper and direct updates for the dictionary from Play store and I don't have to worry about maintaining the dictionary.
- Livio provides more dictionary packs for Italian, French, German and Spanish. Support for these will be added eventually, but low priority for now.
If there are many requests, I might do it earlier though.
Other Changes
- Toast is now gone. Although, it is possible to extract a part of the definition, I felt the main chunks were still too big for a toast.
- I will, however add a time-out option for the pop-up.
- HTC compatibility implemented. Need some more feedback though
- Code Cleanup
TL;DR - Just tell me what to do
- Ok so first of all, delete the "xdictionary" folder. It is no longer needed.
- Then you need Livio dictionary. Either download from here, or press the Define button after a reboot. It will show you a dialog with the link
1.1
- Fixed Define for some devices
- Changed toast for dictionary data copy confirmation
- Other minor changes
1.0
- Initial
Chrome Selection Patch
This an add-on module which allows you enable Search and Share in edit fields of Chrome
AND Search in Incognito mode.
If Text Aide is installed as well, Define, Dial & Search+ will also be available.
Available in Xposed repository

By “pops up” you mean next to the paste button?
And yes web view needs define option. Added to my to-do list! But some browsers use custom action bars. Might not work with those

I meant the screenshot in my first post. The app I'm using there is WhatsApp. And since you have a Nexus, it should work without any problem.
I'll take a look at your log
Were the dictionary files copied properly. You should've seen a “Done” toast appear?
screenshots
here some screen shots just in case
i did say successfully installed ,it is 33mb 9 files . and i can define the word test within ur app .

And I don't think there are any errors related to this module in your log. Will have a look again in the morning.

[APP][4.1+] Kiwi Browser? Chromium + Adblock + CAF + Night Mode 2021-07-29|Active

Hi,
*** Join the Kiwi development Discord @ https://discord.gg/XyMppQq ***
I've been an official developer on the Chromium project and WebKit in 2007 and 2008 (paid by Google as part of Google Summer of Code).
Since the feedback has been positive, I'd like to interact with the XDA community to get feedback, ideas, or just give help.
I'm a big fan of CAF Browsers, but unfortunately, they are not updated anymore and this is one of the biggest reason I've started the work.
This is *not* a variant of an existing project. The codebase varies significantly but it's conceptually inspired by CAF.
The browser is still very much work-in-progress, so I really appreciate feedback and ideas. I'm working 4 hours per day on the browser and I use it myself every day so decent stability is expected.
This is a hobby project, and I'm looking for feedback here, so I'm cool with any kind of critics.
I can only answer outside of daytime (Europe timezone) as I have to work during the day to buy food for my cats.

Kiwi Browser
What is Kiwi Browser ?
- Kiwi Browser is a Chromium Canary that includes performance improvements and adblock.
- What's this browser for ?
Imagine a grumpy grand-pa, and that's how the browser should be. The browser should be forgotten and not go in your way.
No flashing stuff, no annoyances, Fast & Quiet.
If you want to add a search engine, just go on the search engine website, then the search engine will appear by itself in settings.
Features:
* Support for Chrome Extensions
* Speed improvements
I've added lot of crazy hacks inside WebKit (Blink) to get it running faster.
* Night mode
* Move address bar to the bottom
* Cookie acceptance
Automatically accepts lots of "Please this is GDPR, and cookie, and blablabla" messages.
It's not perfect yet, as many websites have added GDPR messages lately.
* Notifications blocker
Blocks notifications.
* Cryptojacking blocker
Saving battery and prevents phone from heating.
Try it on http://www.coinhive.com (you can re-enable cryptomining in chrome://flags if you really like it for some reason )
* Extensions support
Supports real Google Chrome extensions.
* Popup-blocker
This is not the usual popup blocker, there is an heuristic inside to browser to determine whether the new window should be opened or not.
* Adblock & Tracking protection
The browser offers much better privacy protection than Chrome and Brave. It blocks also lot of ads. Not really because ads are bad, but mostly to make the browsing fast.
* Android 4.1+ support for both ARM and X86
Note: On certain Android versions, when you uninstall an app, Android also removes your downloads.
Keep it in mind if you manipulate Kiwi (to backup bookmarks file) or transfer to another device.
Important things to know about privacy:
- No tracking SDK
https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/search/com.kiwibrowser.browser/
- No in-app tracking / metrics
- No history collection
- Self-funded

Version Eden (May 26, 2019)
This version resolves issue of extensions unloading.
On some devices (in particular Xiaomi), extensions may be unloaded by the system when the device wants to optimize memory.
During the optimization, the device (Android) chooses what processes to disable.
In this new release of Kiwi: Kiwi indicates to Android that if Android wants more memory, it should try to avoid disabling the current active tab and the extensions.
If the extensions are disabled by Android, Kiwi will try to reload them.
Version Deneb (May 23, 2019)
This version includes very significant performance improvements (especially when scrolling, pinching, zooming) and minor fixes.
On some older devices the difference can be very visible.

The good news:
- This version has better performance
- New content filters
- Better extensions support
- Introduces a Diamond Black theme and the homepage is compatible with Dark Reader.

List of HTTP queries used in the browser:
- search.kiwibrowser.com tells you what is the closest google.com server (google.fr/google.de/google.it)
http://search.kiwibrowser.com/searchdomaincheck?format=domain&type=chrome
This is a speed reason, if you go directly to google.fr rather than google.com and then google.fr it's faster, and the browser caches this information
- update.kiwibrowser.com is to download the ad blocking list ( http://update.kiwibrowser.com/service/update2 ), yes it needs to download it from somewhere.
Brave downloads it from AWS for example. I do have the same: a text file with a list of filters
- suggest.kiwibrowser.com is a 302 to Google autocomplete (and DuckDuckGo for some users who are beta-testing Bang support)
If you change your search engine, even to the baked Google one, you won't get connected to suggest.kiwibrowser.com at all as far as I know.
At the end of the day, I need to send the query somewhere, there is no choice.
Whether Google, or DuckDuckDuck if you want Suggest, it *has* to ask a server somewhere.
You can turn Suggest off, or send Suggest to your favorite search provider by adding or selecting it.
- chromecontentsuggestions-pa is to download news - http://chromecontentsuggestions-pa.kiwibrowser.com/v1/
Hello !
I'm not reporting any issue, it's just a comment to let you know that I just downloaded and tested the app on 2 different phones, and it works very well !
There is a bit less animations compared to Brave Browser or Chromium (or maybe they're faster), but it is a bit faster on a Honor 5C.
But it seems that the big difference appears on low end devices : on an old KitKat device, it is way smoother than Brave Browser in scrolling...
Otherwise, thanks for this awesome app ! The night mode is very convenient.
Would it be possible to keep it activated after closing the app ?
I mean, the app remembering that the night mode was on for next time you use it ?
Hello,
Thanks for the nice words about the speed :victory:
I totally see what you mean about the night mode.
The night mode resets on relaunch in order to avoid incoherence (half is in night mode, half is in day mode and that looks quite ugly)
I'm sure there is a way to improve that, once it's improved, then I can remove the reset
I'll ping you on progress,
Just tested it for a few minutes on my most visited sites. With adblocking on, theverge.com doesn't show it's site logo and navigation bar. Hope you could fix that. Thanks. Nice and fast browser.
Noted, I'll fix theverge.com during the week and update you (and also remove this horrible cookie box )
Hello, Google fvcked up full screen video on canary. It doesn't work correctly since months on multiple roms. It just fails to hide the nav bar and status bar. This issue is also there on ur browser and even though it's not ur fvck up, I'd like to ask, if u can try to fix it. I have a OnePlus One currently on LOS 15.1 Oreo. The screenshot is from the video that popped up first when I launched YouTube.com but it is like that on any website.
To get even more crazy, is there anyway to bring back the URL bar at the bottom?
I think I know what it is,
Can you go to chrome://flags in the address bar
and set "New Media Controls" (#enable-new-media-controls) to "Disabled" ?
If that works, then I know what to change by default
I closely followed development of these new media controls (I am working on gestures for media playing), and they seem to be very buggy so I wouldn't be surprised if they were the cause of the fullscreen not ok.
Note: maybe it's not related to media controls, but I strongly suspect it.
Let me know if this solves the problem,
Btw, yes of course I want to fix it that's a major thing
The more I read the answer, the less I'm sure it's the cause
Let me know, I'm very curious on that one if disabling the modern media controls solves it.
Otherwise I'll find a way to reproduce.
Extremely fast and nice :good:
I don't know if it's possible, but any way to bring this kind of tabs?
extension support like yandex will benefit
Nice to see another Chromium fork, especially from my own country! ?
I have some suggestions though:
1) Please consider open-sourcing the browser for trustworthiness and copying (the more forks we have, the better they get)
2) Do consider enabling the flags in chrome://flags instead of target arguments, that would bring an easy overview of what is already enabled and what isn't.
3) I'm not sure how much you changed the ad blocking compared to the built-in one, but the menu has an option "Hide annoying ads" - would it be possible to hide all ads instead?
Is there any way to hide the status bar.. As shown in the screenshots of the browser??
I can't begin to express how much I love this browsers. It is fast, really really fast, like puffin fast. I don't know what you did but its too damn good. I have struggled to get a good browsers which offers the perfect blend of speed adblocking and ui and kiwi provides just that. It didn't took 10 min to make me fall in love with it. The adblocking works as charm. I do have adaway for ads but the cosmetic filtering is what i wanted for ages. Really keep up the good work.

Click to collapse
3) hide annoying ads is probably cosmetic filtering, it hides the blocked ad banner its per site option like in brave. Not sure what you mean, are u asking to rename?

I don't think so, its mostly rom feature called expanded desktop.

If it really is what you claim it to be, yes, a rename would make sense too. For example, "hide ad placeholders".
Otherwise I expected it to be Adblock Plus-style where some ads are whitelisted.

fvck yeah
I'm working on that at the moment (along with Speed Dial and tons of fixes).
The main reason why it's not done yet is that during the switch from Chrome Home to Chrome Duplex, Google moved the code all over the place and refactored almost everything, so it's not just "reviving" the feature, but really to reimplement it.
It's planned, I have a very big (and slippery) phone, and I broke it because of no Omnibox at the bottom (my phone is more slippery than a soap bar).

I have tried, it doesn't render well because the space taken is huge, but it is on the list.
I'll upload some screenshots next week I guess
