unable to use the 5G network even when its selected - OnePlus Nord Questions & Answers

I bought OnePlus Nord recently and 5G was working fine out of box, then received software update and since then the 5G never show up again even tho it's available in the sim mobile data option...
after contacting the seller. they said it's locked from OnePlus in Kuwait and they can program it to be unlocked for extra payment..
I've been a OnePlus user for years.. this is just very disappointing and I start considering switch from OnePlus to another brand :/
now I can't use :
VoLTE or 5G
and also can't use dual SIM if I want the 5G which I know it's not available for anyone .
I just hope OnePlus see this and fix this issue with future update

You can unlock it through carrierpolicy.xml
U can Google it even I'm in Kuwait here isp doesn't focus on other brands and only focus on Huwaei which is ****

UK Petition to block network operators from taking control of our devices

Hi all,
I'm not sure if ok to post this on here, but I've created a petition on the UK petitions site to try a stop network operators taking control of our devices
If you are a UK user and want to sign the petition please follow this link - Petition Link
Information relating to partition
My petition: Block all mobile network operators from taking control of our android mobiles
Background: Purchased sim-free mobile without contract and network operator now provides the updates and not the manufacturer meaning receiving security updates and other updates are slow
Details: Huawei supply mobile phones to the UK and even if you purchase these unlocked and sim-free from a retailer in the UK, you will receive a phone that is then rebranded by the network operator (ie Three UK), who then authorise updates instead of the manufacturer. No matter how you buy the phone, the networks should not rebrand them or take control of the phone so they provide updates as these changes cannot be reversed
How'd you know if you've been "taken over" by the network? My L09 has no EE branding anywhere.
CLT-L09 8.1.0.110 (C782)
I had this reply from Huawei when questioning about devices purchased from the likes of CPW (this also includes currys, mobiles.co.uk and others)
The version sold in Carphone Warehouse is the open market version and it is exactly the same one sold by H3G.
The software version is also the same, however, this will be customized to the relevant operator depending on the SIM card that is inserted in the device for the very first time.
This customization is irreversible as per the operator's requirement, however, the device will maintain its SIM Free status.
One of the reasons behind it is to ensure the 4G/Wi-fi calling feature will be enabled on these devices. As you may know this option is not available on the unbranded/open market devices, as it requires network customization.

So if you get the C782 version of the device it is customised by the network operator, if you get the C432 device it will not and Huawei will not provide details of where to purchase none C782 models in the UK.
Also with Huawei removing the ability of unlocking the bootloader for end-users we will be at the mercy of network operators authorising updates., as you won't be able to rebrand the phone so can get updates for another model
You may also get apps automatically installed by your network provider

Thats a bit rude. Is it only Huawei that do this? Never bought a phone that wasnt SIM free before, so never experienced this.
Usually when you buy a phone sim-free unlocked without a contract it means that you will get all updates by the manufacturer - but Huawei are supplying the same version to resellers that they would provide to network operators meaning Huawei do not provide updates and it is the network provider - even if you bought a phone on contract then left that network why should you still have to rely on the original network operator to provide the updates
as with apple the updates need to come directly from the manufacturers

Is not true.
I have a CLT-L29(782) on EE. VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling both work.

Why not email Huawei and ask them and see their reply, your phone if it is the C782 model is customised by the first network sim you put into the device. Three make it worse by customising the bootloader as well

My mistake, I have a C432, it was a C782. WiFi Calling/VoLTE work on EE with the EU model.

yeh CPW do not sell the C432 model and only supply the C782 model and when I've asked Huawei where to get a non UK only version from in the UK they won't provide me that information
You can buy unlocked C432 (dual sim) on Amazon.de with free delivery to UK.
Same here, i put the sim in and it installed MyEE app and some Antivirus app that EE recommends. I dont see any branding like wallpapers etc etc. Wonder if its a one off thing or EE can install anything they like, they are bad enough for spam text marketing let alone being able to install apps on your phone (CLT-L09).
Good luck bro.
I bought my phone from EE. I use an EE SIM card.
I'm assuming any phone bought from EE is going to be locked to EE.
My wife bought hers from uSwitch also on EE, I'll check, by all accounts all uSwitch phones are bought separately which is how they do their deals.
What is it surgically you hour to achieve from this petition.
Also chances are Huawei probably had a hand in the deal with operators.
HTC and Oneplus, my last two phones certainly didn't.
Oneplus is just a dual SIM unlocked monster.
The HTC I hardware unlocked myself no problem.
PS
If you buy a phone from Huawei SIM free, the phone will have a firmware already installed, the model and variant aren't going to change should you put in a SIM.

I want android phones to not be modified by network operators and have them blocked from doing this. On Apple you get a file update that tells the system what settings to use for network, this should be same on android.
According to Huawei the network operators want the devices to be customised by the first sim you insert and this process is irreversible. Why should someone who has purchased a sim free unlocked phone out of contract have their phone rebranded by the operator. With three its worse as they change the boot up so u get full screen three logo.
Would you be happy buying a phone outright that was unlocked, sim free, not on a contract and without network operator branding, being branded by the first sim you inserted and then relying on that operator to authorise updates? I'm not and I don't think many others would be.
Pixel phones if purchased via Google do get modified but currently wifi calling on them only works with EE.
Also you can no longer get the bootloader unlock codes from Huawei for devices purchased after a certain date and by 25 July u won't ever be able to unlock phones to install different roms, etc which is why it will be my last Huawei phone purchased.
I might not get anywhere with the petition but unless we try we won't know.

EE OnePlus 7 Pro 5g SIM unlock

Hi all
So are OnePlus phones like pixels where there is no way of SIM unlock without getting network to give unlock code?
I'm getting mine from EE in UK and they said I can only unlock after 6 month's!
Sprint OnePlus 7 Pro 5G
I'm Also interested in unlocking my device!
I bought mine from ebay and is sprint locked, I live in France and as you can imagine I can't use it here.
Any help would be much appreciated!

OnePlus 7 Pro 5g (EE UK) - Battery drain

Hi all,
I am currently on the right mood to bring it back on Monday.
NO APPS installed except WhatsApp and drains battery like hell.
Doesn't get to 6hrs screen time.
Disabled dc dimming, wifi scan and everything else the web might have mentioned about saving battery.
Even blocked Google Play Services from accessing gps (as last test).
Apparently there is no app sucking more than the others, it is just what you use that drains way too much battery.
FYI I am in London with no 5g coverage (north London), no network switch issues, indeed.
Last update has been installed.
Give your thoughts.

Hi,
I'm in Manchester, but only issue I have had is lack of dual SIM function. Does yours have dual SIM? Thanks in advance.
No dual SIM here.
What about your battery?
Could you publish your screen on time etc?
Mine suffered from lots of phantom touches, requiring multiple reboots and was also single SIM.
I also complained to EE as they said on their website that the phone shipped with USB-C headphones, but nothing was included in the box.
...Mine has already been sent back; it's simply not worth the cost at the moment with the flakey camera, phantom touches & the relative lack of 5G coverage (I'm in West London so don't get 5G unless at work)
I phoned them this morning and they told me that the handset can be returned only IF has been pre-ordered. If bought in-store while it was in stock (test in store for them), then there is no 14/30 days return policy. Who did you buy it? Pre-order or store?

Mine was a pre-order, but also via their website, which means they have to honour the 14 days distance selling rules, even on an upgrade
If you're desperate to return, just say you are unhappy with the coverage. The store will then return it for you.
The fact that their is no dual SIM support is ridiculous. Battery life has been ok-ish for me, not great but not the worst I've seen. I missed the part on the EE website where it said "USB type-c headphones included" I might complain about that too. But for me, it's just the lack of clarity as to whether we can flash the latest firmware version from the OnePlus website as no sod knows who actually supports the device...EE or OnePlus...

At the end the situation got dramatically better switching to Nova Launcher. Unfortunately I don't want to root to drill down further but for now it is ok.
Hope that in future releases they fix its launcher.
i not had any issues with the 5g version apart from the general 7 Pro issues of ghost touch
only other issue I have is OnePlus alarm clock does not ring so have to use google clock

The no dual sim is due to X50, you may have noticed every Qualcomm 5G device is single sim. It was exactly the same when 4G launched.

yup people dont read up and then complain
nothing to do with EE or OnePlus.
What OP could have done is use google's esim capability.
It worked on Pixel 2 on EE.

Sadly they couldn't have done that on the 5G model either. No dual sim is a technical limitation of Qualcomms first gen 5G modems.

esim is not same as dual sim
pixel 2 xl is single sim phone but supports esim so you can load a business number as a ESIM and switch in OS to other sim.

Sorry missed the point of your original post. Yes OnePlus could have chosen that option, although I don't believe there's much demand for a non DSDS solution. Might as well just swap physical sims in such circumstances.
Re dual sim- is it something that a dual sim adapter can fix? Or does this mean the hardware itself does not support dual sim? Could replacing ee-locked firmware with unlocked firmware fix it?

Hey, I pre-ordered as well but i cant find where on the website it mentioned the usb-c headphones, could you share the link please?
Also, my battery life seems fine to be honest, however, my internet simply does not work. It is constantly disconnecting and i dont know if anybody else is also experiencing this problem.
so just to confirm the phone does not have dual sim ability when purchased on EE?
I thought all oneplus devices were unlocked and came with the ability to use 2 sims.
The last oneplus phone i purchased i got from O2 and this was dual sim and unlocked.
can someone please clarify

5G compatibility ?

Anyone have luck getting actual 5G with AT&T? (None of their 5G E bull****)
I have the unlocked version (bought directly from OnePlus) running on AT&T and I called them to see what could be done. Not much! To try and figure out if this is an AT&T issue, or a OnePlus issue...well your guess is as good as mine! VoLTE is selectable and working. I am able to make a phone call and still have access to the internet. I am not sure who to point a finger at to get 5G working, but I might say it's up to OnePlus. My reasoning is this: I had the unlocked Galaxy S20 FE for a few weeks running with the same sim on AT&T and it appeared as if 5G was working. So it appears as if AT&T is not stopping unlocked phones from accessing their 5G network??? So if my theory is correct then it's up to OnePlus to make the 8T work on the AT&T 5G network. Of course I could be completely wrong here and I hope someone somewhere can figure all this crap out for us all! Just like everything else today...it's all a smelly-hot-pile!
Dumb question, but did you have a 5g SIM?
I stopped by an AT&T store tonight and picked up a new SIM card. Bastages charged me $5 for it. Haven't used the 8T yet though.
According to AT&T the sim I have is the latest one available. As I mentioned when I had the S20 FE for a few weeks the 5G icon was active 90% of the time on the notification bar. Once in a while it would drop to 4G LTE. So now I am using the exact same sim on the 8T and their is NO 5G anywhere to be found! So, I don't think AT&T is preventing unlocked phones from accessing their 5G network....but rather I believe OnePlus needs to "do something" to make it work!

Question Oneplus 9 5g issue

Hello I got an oneplus 9 EU.
I can only connect to 5g with the dial up code but that's not permanent, I did contact my carrier (giffgaff O2) but they said everything if fine on their end so I contacted oneplus which they told me to send logs which I did, but shortly after that they sent me a survey about how they did and didn't even reply if they are going to look into that.
So I'm asking the community if there is a way to make it work permanently without having to unlock the bootloader or rooting the device?
