Phone hangs after calls when bluetooth devices connected - ASUS ZenFone 6 (2019) Questions & Answers

Hey,
I'm using the latest LineageOS, and have my samsung galaxy watch connected with bluetooth.
When I'm getting a call, the phone seemingly puts it on speaker while claiming it's in the 'phone' mode, but the voice is clearly louder than in phone mode. The other side also complains they hear themselves. After I hang up the call, the phone hangs after a certain time (the linageos loading animation shows and nothing happens).
When this happens, only a hard reset (holding power+volume down) helps.
I noticed this only happens when I have bluetooth audio devices connected. If I turn bluetooth off, everything works fine.
Can anyone help me out here?

You should post this in the lineage thread with logs of the bug

Bluetooth headsets no audio on 2nd day

Got my wife a TF-300 for her birthday back in May and just bought an LG HBS-700 stereo bluetooth headset for her from Amazon.com last week. Opened the headsets box, read the quick instructions and noted all I had to do was turn them on for the initial pairing. Turned BT on in the settings of the TF-300, turned on the headset, and it paired & connected fine. Tried music player & streaming TuneIn radio. All worked great. All audio apps seem to work perfectly. She used it all day Tuesday.
Then came Wednesday.
Woke up the tablet, turned on the headphones, started the streaming audio, and nothing. Checked BT connections and it showed connected. Adjusting the volume shows the BT icon, but no audio out through BT at all. Turn BT off and it plays through the speaker or external jack just fine. Turn on BT and it's gone again.
Tried everything I could think of. Un-paired and re-paired the headset several times. No help. Did a manual re-pairing, still no good. Tried the headset with 2 different cell phones and they work great. Turned WiFi off and still couldn't get any audio out through BT. Even tried playing local music and still no go.
I read the earlier models of the Transformers had numerous BT problems, but I thought they were all fixed in the 300.
Any suggestions at all?
Have you try to reset the tablet ?

Usre Nokia BT 'phones here regularly with no issues. When you say testedwith cell phones is this in call mode (mono) or HQ Audio? try deleting the device before re pairing.
Got a computer you can pair up with and try? Eliminates the headset as the problem if it works.

Do you mean a "Factory data reset" in the settings menu? Won't that wipe out all the apps & data I have on the tablet?
I hoped I wouldn't have to resort to that just to get BT working, especially if it's not a sure fix.

I tested the headsets on my Epic 4G and my wife's Evo 4G both in phone and HQ audio modes. Both worked great.
I tried to "delete" the headset listing by unpairing the headset then turning BT off then on. The listing disappears, but I'm not sure some of that data isn't cached somewhere. I then put the headset in pairing mode, but nothing is searched for by the pad until I turn BT off then on again. When I do it finds it and I can pair it and connect fine, but still no audio.
The play/pause/fwd/back buttons work on the headset to control the playback, just no audio out at all from the TF-300.
Really starting to bug me now.
My moto stereo headset has the same issue with the tablet. Its a bluetooth issue.
Sometimes the tablet shows connected but won't show bt icon on volume changes. I also lose audio like the op.
Only rebooting the tablet fixes it, hold power button down.
I had a TF100 that did the same thing. So I doubt its hardware, its software related. The headset worked fine when I had a iPhone.

Hard Reset This cleans system caches, but does not delete any user data.
Unplug the power cord and shut the unit off. Press and hold the VOL DOWN and then POWER button at the same time for at least 10-12 seconds until after the start-up screen appears and is joined by some small print at the top of the screen, then let them both go. If the TF booted the way it always does, you have not accomplished the task, try again until you have seen the 2 icons in the screen.
After a few seconds you should see a couple of icons in the middle of the screen called "Wipe Data" and "Android". The right "Android" will have a green highlight fading in and out. Wait a few more seconds until the term "Cold Booting Linux" appears in the list near the top of the screens and let it reboot. If you own a keyboard dock be sure you do this with the dock connected.
This process applies to all TF models, however, if your Prime or tf300 is locked up, there is a reset available using the hole just below the microSD slot, this is NOT the same as a hard reset.
I got this info from transformers forum.
The is also the factory reset but you loose all your data.

Huge thanks. The hard reset seems to have fixed it for now. We'll see how it handles it after a few on/off connections with the headset. If it turns out to be a constant problem my wife will definitely not be using the headsets as she has no patience for rebooting the tablet every time it won't connect. Hopefully it will work right from now on.
Thanks again.
Glad that i was able to help :good:
The Hard reset procedure helped me, too. I have had exactly the same problem as OP with my TF300T. I checked two my bluetooth headsets - they were both not working.
Anyway, thanks for the help.
Greg O: let me know, if the problem appears to be fixed constantly, or not.
Edit: O.K., unfortunately, this helped me temporarily. After some time of listening, sound disappeared again
is the bluetooth audio bit enabled and connected when this happens?
as in not just the device being connected, but when its connected tap the little equaliser icon next to it, and check that it says connected to media.
I have "Media audio" and "Phone audio" both enabled.
Update about my problem: Yesterday I got the Jelly Bean update OTA (Android 4.1.1) and it seems that "no sound on Bluetooth" problem was solved. I have been listening to the music for some time now and everything works fine (there is a small delay between voice and video on films, but I can live with this).
Happy now.

good to hear its working now - just in case it happens again, what i mean is to check again those settings when the sound doesn't work and make sure it says connected to media. But hopefully won't happen anyway!

Strange bluetooth and car audio connection issue

I have the AT&T Galaxy S II Skyrocket and my phone used to auto-connect to my car via bluetooth without any problem, even after upgrading to ICS in early July. All of sudden since yesterday a problem has popped up: whenever I start the car, the car's control panel shows "bluetooth connection successful" or something similar, and then the car audio system switches into the talk mode as if the phone is in the mid of a phone call. Of course I am not in the middle of any phone call. So there is no audio heard (no radio, no cd playing, etc). I try to press the button on the car's panel to disconnect the call but it always returns to that talk mode. After some tests I find out that if I make any phone call, the call will be disconnected immediately and the status of my car's panel returns to normal. But next time when I start the car, the issue appears again until I make any phone call.
At the beginning I thought something was wrong with my car. Then I tried two other phones: one was iphone 3G, and the other was an old htc magic with android 2.2. Both of their bluetooth systems worked well with my car. So I believe it is something wrong with the Galaxy phone. However I am not sure what could be the problem exactly.
My phone is not rooted.
Any help is highly appreciated!
Have you tried unpairing the skyrocket and your car? Sometimes you just need to break the connection and set it up again.
Reported questions go in q&a and there are threads on Bluetooth issues

Yes I have unpaired the connection, restarted the phone and the car, and paired them again. But the problem persists.
Today I tried my wife's iphone 4 with the car the didn't see any problem. I am pretty sure there is something fishy with the phone.

BT: Phone 2 Disconnect?

Hi all. I have read several threads about some problems people were having with bluetooth disconnects, primarily with car BT systems.
I am having a problem that is similar but a little different sounding.
Sometimes it works fine.
But other times (especially if, for example, the bluetooth comes on during a call and I hit the button to turn on speaker phone, for example, during that single call) I have an issue where the bluetooth keeps disconnecting.
I will go in to the settings menu and will see my Plantronics Voyager HD headset and it will say Paired. When I select it on the bluetooth settings page it will then say "Connecting to Audio" and will start working. However, as soon as I dont use it for a few seconds, I will get a voice message through the headset that says "Phone 2 Disconnected" and it stops working until I go through the entire manual process in the settings menu described above.
I dont have any other bluetooth device paired, and I tried to delete and then add this device a second time, so I dont know why it says "Phone 2 Disconnected" and if that has something to do with the frequent BT disconnects.
Im on stock ICS.
Any ideas?

[Q] LG G2 freezes randomly with bluetooth connected

I'm having a problem with the G2. It does just fine answering calls and everything without freezing when not connected to bluetooth.
But when my bluetooth headset is connected, sometimes it works and sometimes it randomly freezes my phone. I can get it unfrozen by just turning off my headset. Sometimes when I turn the headset back on it will connect and be fine again for a while, other times it will freeze the phone again right away.
When it starts freezing the phone right away I'll have to reboot the phone for it to connect and work without freezing. It will work for what seems like a random amount of time and then the whole problem starts over again.
Anyone have similar issues or have any ideas?

Mic problems after recent update - phone calls still work

So I have a Vodafone s8+ that I got just a month ago. I just downloaded an update that they sent out a night or 2 ago (Android 8.0.0, Samsung Experience 9.0, build # R16NW.G955FXXu1CRB7) and since then I have been having periodic problems with the microphone:
Google Assistant does not hear me (acts as if I am constantly talking loudly but no discernible words)
Samsung voice recorder records loud static with no actual input from the mic
Trying to use the voice keyboard fails, not recognizing any speech
phone calls (normal; I'm not talking about speakerphone) work without difficulty (making a phone call actually "resets" the microphone so other problems disappear for 60-90 seconds whereupon the former problems reassert themselves) (the phone call doesn't have to actually go through - I can make the call and immediately hang up before talking and the "reset" still happens)
using a wired headset works without any difficulty
Rebooting causes the mic to work normally for 60-90 seconds
Rebooting in safe mode causes the mic to work until I leave safe mode
Using a BT headset works fine and has the same "reset" effect where the phone mic continues to work after I disconnect BT for about 60-90 seconds before the same mic problems reassert themselves
I am not 100% certain that the update is the cause. I had a malfunctioning BT headset at about the same time - obviously I am no longer using the headset and it is not connected (it is *off* and out of range) when the problems are occurring
