I had a note 9 with att, android 10 and used android messages without issue.
I upgraded to a Note 20 with att, android 10 and used android messages and now have a group text issue.
I have a group text with 10 friends and never had an issue. Now I get 2 issues.
1. When a new person sends a text it starts a new message so instead of 1 long message I get new a group text everytime.
2. Also now when I send a text it appears twice once like i sent it, and a 2nd time like i received my text like another group member sent it to me.
I have been searching the web to figure it out but have been stuck, so any help would be appreciated.
PS I tried using a few different text apps but they all did the same thing.

recently i purchased a nexus 5 directly from Google, soon afterwards i rooted it, installed the latest version of cyanogenmod 11. shortly after that i had my service, consumer cellular (at&t based) hooked up and now have access to calling and texting. the annoying part is when i send even one text to anybody, i get the error message "hangouts is sending a large number of SMS messages. do you want to allow this app to continue sending messages?" i understand that this is built into the os in order to prevent overuse of texting, however i find it very annoying as it comes up with the message after every text even if i haven't texted in hours, is there any way to change this so this does not happen? it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Click to collapse
Go to settings then go to security and scroll all the way to the bottom. Change the max to 30 or 200, the highest you prefer, and you shouldn't get the notification anymore. I doubt you send 200 msgs in any 30 min period. Haha
Sometimes I can not send out or receive group texts. When I know the group text function is not working, I can usually fix it by a doing a re-set. But, I don't always know the group function is not working. Has anyone discovered a permanent solution to this problem? Thanks.
I get group texts completely out of order from how they were sent or sometimes get a flood of messages after a 10-15 min delay. It all started when I switched to the pixel 2 from my honor 8. I've been using Textra on T-Mobile this whole time. I've even tried using the Android Messenger and it works even worse.
Somehow my wife's phone number is stuck in a group with my sister's phone number, and I cannot get them separated.
Got a new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus about 2 weeks ago, and restored all my existing data to it (including several years worth of text messages) from my old Galaxy S7.
All was great for about a week, I was sending & receiving text messages from numerous people - including my wife and sister - just fine.
Then, I THINK what happened was that on a text to either my sister or my wife, I added the other one of them to the message as an additional recipient, and I think that's when this issue started.
Now, whenever I receive a text from my wife, the message appears in my phone with my sister's number included in the sender field along with my wife's name as if it is a group message.
What's even MORE strange, when another person sends a text to me and to my wife (but NOT to my sister) - my sister's name appears in my phone as if she is in a group that sent me the message - even though the person who sent me the message doesn't even KNOW my sister!
Here is a step by step scenario:
1) My wife composes a text message on her phone TO ME ONLY (my number is the ONLY one shown on her phone as the intended recipient of the text).
2) She sends it to me, when I receive it on MY phone, the "sender" area at top of message shows TWO people - my wife and my sister. (My sister does NOT receive the message.)
3) If I reply directly to that message, both my wife and my sister get my reply.
4) If I compose a NEW message to my wife only (rather than replying to one she sent me), and send to her, only she receives it (my sister does not receive it), and on my wife's phone it shows as coming from only me.
5) When my wife replies to the message I sent to her only, on my phone it comes back as a group message with my sister
s name included in the group.
I have scoured my phone for text messaging Groups... I can find none set up. I primarily use Handcent NEXT SMS, but have also used the stock Messaging app in the Samsung phone, as well as Verizon Message+... same behavior in all of them!!
On my phone I deleted the entire thread of messages between me & my wife (over 1,200 messages going back couple of years), and also deleted all threads on my phone between me & my sister, deleted both my wife's and my sister's contact records in my phone, and also deleted all the forementioned from my WIFE'S phone, then also deleted my wife and my sister's contact records from the contacts in my Google account (to prevent them from being inadvertently restored to my phone that way), and restarted my phone NUMEROUS times during all this... then we start a new text thread between me & my wife only, and when it hits my phone it STILL shows as coming from a Group containing my wife and my sister.
THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!
I hope to be able to remedy this without doing a factory reset on my new S9+ as it's a RPITA to reload everything (all my data primarily), AND I'm not really convinced that will solve the problem anyway (wondering if the "group" they are stuck in together is in Verizon's mothership (cloud database, etc).
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!!!
I have a Pixel 2 XL phone on verizon running 9.0.
I use google messaging app for texts and MMS.
My issue is i set up a group sms for about 12 people i send out the message and it goes out fine. I noticed i put someone in there by mistake and when you go to people & Options there is no way to delete them from the thread.
If you click add people and pick the number it starts a whole new thread. its so annoying.
If the people receiving the text in the first thread and when it starts a whole new thread and i send another message when they respond it goes to the original thread and not the new one with all the right people in it.
Is this a phone issue or an app issue. can anyone help
Hope this makes sense i'm new here
Anyone else having this issue.
Group text randomly sends messages to each individual user in MMS group when using Samsung Messages. It's been happening for months. Most environments are mixed and Android and iPhone users. RCS is turned on for me. Happens several times a day and I get no indication of it happening until someone responds to me separate from the group. My message for me shows correctly sent in the group.
This does not happen with any other messaging program such as Google or Textra. If I switch to Google after this happens I can see the message I sent 3 times in the group thread if there are 3 other users In it. But no individual threads.
Like I said this has been happening for months and every time I switch back to samsung messages after an update it's the same issue that makes me move away from it. The group settings are toggled correctly, data is on correctly, I've cleared storage, reset my phone (after UI3 update) and yet this still occurs.
I'm currently on the U1 Note 20 Ultra, on One UI 3 with a T-Mobile Sim.
