Hi all
Got my Note 20 Ultra this morning, come back to Samsung after moving to Huawei a few years ago.
Something really bugging me is no emoji key on the samsung keyboard ?
Am I missing something or is how it is now ?
While messing with keyboard settings the other day I saw an option to turn on bitmoji stuff giphy stuff and possibly Emoji I don't remember where but it's in settings somewhere under language and input

If the toolbar is missing, go into the keyboard settings and turn it on.

Samsung keyboard hasn't had this for a few years.
If you turn the toolbar off, to get emojis, you hold down the comma key and choose the emoji icon froma list of icons.

Hang on, I just found how to do it for you :silly:
I use GBoard so I didn't know...but I've just found it while going through it. It's all tucked away. You turn off the toolbar in keyboard settings. Then long press the comma, and choose the emoji icon. This sets that left key as the emoji key. It just means that to get a comma, you need to long press theperiod key.

There is no Dotted Buttons.Please Give me some solution
Please respond this I'll surely give you more reps :good:
I think that when you have a hardware menu key the app detects this and doesn't display the 3 dotted menu button (since there would be no need if you have a hardware one)
If you are rooted, may I suggest button savior: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865525
It does work without root, but I'm not sure if the menu button is supported, you'd need to try and see

Not that I know of. If you are not rooted then there won't really be much you can do
If you are rooted take a look at LMT launcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
Both these apps won't add the 3 dotted menu in but act as a hovering app that will allow you to use a different method to function as the menu button.

Ok,I'll root my Mobile and try that.
Hey Guys,
actual i have a Widget on my Homescreen to Lock my Device:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And here is my Question now.
Is it Possible to Lock the Screen with an App from the Homebutton (Longpress), where you can get to Google Now?
Maybe just replace the Google Now Link there. (All on a rooted Orig Firmware w/ locked BL.)
It would be quicker to just replace one of the 4 links at the bottom of the home screen with a shortcut to that app) that's what I have

I did this too, but it feelt kinda awkward for me.
This space is used as i like it the most (Screenshot).
The quick way is not the best for everyone, so i hope to get any help/answer how to do that.
But Thanks for your help and sorry for my broken english
Edit:
I found a Solution, Root is not required, so everyone can do this..
Home Button Launcher is the launcher for swiping up from the home button.
Soft Lock Screen is the App to lock your screen. (The one i used before didnt worked well, because i need a App for the launcher and not a Widget). Dont forget to Check "Auto Start Mode" if you only use one App in the Launcher
You dont have to wait till the Icon appears, what i tought first... just swipe up from your homebutton.
You can use DTSO from play store and you have a transparent widget in the Widgets section on your phone. Put the widget on the screen and...THAT'S IT!

Thanks, maybe i will try it.
Actually i´m happy with just swiping up from the home button. :good:
I like using the stock Samsung keyboard app on the Note 5 because of the SPen detection that switches it to handwriting. However, I hate the fact it does not have swype/flow capability. My S6 had a Samsung keyboard with swype/flow built in as an option (with no handwriting option obviously).
Does anyone know of a suitable alternative? Is there a different keyboard from a previous Note device that works better I could install? I'm waiting for the Note 7 keyboard to leak but have not seen it yet. Not sure if it would have these options. I also tried Google's handwriting keyboard but found that switching between typing and handwriting is a chore.

It does.
With the on-screen keyboard visible, hold down on the button to the right of the "Sym" key. Tap the gear icon to go to the keyboard settings. (Or go to Settings > Language and input > Samsung keyboard)
Scroll down until you see "Keyboard swipe" and change that to "Continuous input".
That setting does not exist for me in settings. If you have a Note 5 give me a screen shot. As you can see below that option is missing.

Odd. Here is the upper part of that menu and that setting is non-existent. Not sure what to make of this. Are you running Android 6.0.1? What version of Samsung keyboard are you running?
I am on 6.0.1, but that should not matter, as this feature has been available since the phone's release.
Samsung keyboard 1.1.16. If you haven't tried clearing data for the Samsung keyboard app, try that.
Have you disabled any apps?

Wtf? It looks like a wallpaper...
Maybe something to do with wallpapers or themes? Any wallpaper apps loaded?
Try in safe mode.
no wallpaper apps. I'll try setting a different theme, but I'm sure it's the default theme.
I'll google safe mode and try that. thank you for your help. I thought someone might recognize this as a setting.
I found the setting that was causing the problem. searching "screensaver" in settings found a selection for screensaver when docked or charging. I changed it to "none".
thanks for your reply!

Yay! Lol, Samsung's are notorious for their hidden settings. Sometimes in plain sight but others required a double tap on unmarked menu items
edit: I'm aware it's an LG. Koreans are sort of krazy in general... look at their graffiti

this is an LG velvet. but I agree, it is very much like a samsung in that respect. thanks!!
I'm still struggling between Samsung Keyboard and Gboard.
I've always used Gboard but the possibility to have the keyboard switching automatically to handwriting when extracting the sPen is very useful.
What I do not like of Samsung Keyboard though, and for which I'm asking if there's a solution:
1. There is no dedicated emoji key on the left of the spacebar: Gboard has full-stop on the right and both comma and emoji on the left. Samsung Keyboard has full-stop on the right but only comma in the left. The comma can be replaced by emoji (long press comma and choose emoji), but the you lose comma.
2. When in handwriting mode, if you write on multiple lines, it'll convert text in multiple lines. Gboard when converting keeps everything on the same line, which makes more sense.
Thanks for comments, tips and suggestions.
I have the dedicated emoji on my Samsung keyboard. It's at the top left hand side of the keyboard tool bar. Try swiping to the right to see if it's there.

You can assign keys, don't know about that one though. The Samsung keyboard is the best as far I'm concerned. Been using the same layout for the last 7 years.

I can input swear words. Predictive spelling may try to change it but I still have the ability to correct and save it.
