fastboot boot question

Note: This is not related directory to the Shield, it's about HP Slate 21 (they both use Tergra 4)
I would like to try the root_tn7 image on the Slate, I'm booting into bootloader mode, I see my device in the fastboot devices command.
But when I try to boot the root_tn7 (using: fastboot.exe boot root_tn7.img) it gives me:
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.849s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.071s]
finished. total time: 0.926s
Click to collapse
Which means it's totally ignores the root_tn7.img
I heard that there is a kernel parameter (with -c) which needs to be passed.
Any suggestion to which parameters?
:\ It should work... "fastboot boot root_tn7.img". Have you tried removing the boot.img from the folder?
There is no boot.img in the directory I'm in....
It seems it just uses "boot.img" as what it's doing...

The TF 701 is also tegra 4 based. Yesterday I was able to use a TF 701 Clockwork disk in fastboot boot mode to root the slate 8.
Even if the root script doesn't work, if that image will boot your system you ought to be able to push su to /system/bin and chmod it, then install SuperSU by hand if need be.
Try the one from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524401
That specifically targets Tegra 4 systems running Android 4.2. There's a second TF701 clockwork tool, but it targets a specific bootloader and would not boot my Slate 8.
Good luck!

As your bootloader was locked i don't think them partitions can be flashed how ever you should be able to still flash the system sparse images as if you have done a hard reset on your phone the partitions your trying to flash wouldn't be effected anyway.
Just go into bootloader they and flash just the system sparse images then boot into recovery if you can and erase the cache.
The bootloader was never unlocked. The problem may be that I'm trying to install the ROM 4.4.4 first? Think if I try 4.3 or other older versions it stops to present such errors?
Did you update via OTA to 4.4.4 if so then you must use a 4.4.4 image. Bare in mind you'll need to use the Right CID numbered frimware.
Have you tried to flash the System partition i.e the system system.img_sparsechunk.0 - system.img_sparsechunk.3 , give that a go.
I tried to install the images of the system and it still fails.
I do not know what to do.

Try flashing the system.img to both slots.

I had the same problem but managed to resolve it.
the way to do it is to do the followings:
1) Install the updated adb tool files from google official framework website here (Very very very important)
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
2) download the factory image file and unzip it inside a folder. For example "A"
3) after unzipping the rom file, you will find another rom file, unzip it also to the same folder "A"
4) unzip the adb tool downloaded from step 1 and put them in the same folder "A"
5) Double click on "Flash all" to execute the command.
6) Enjoy
