Doesn't sit properly on Samsung Wireless Charging stand - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hey guys, received my Note 20 Ultra Mystic White today. Its stunning.. but disappointed to learn that it doesn't properly sit on the official wireless charging stand due to the camera bump. It does still appear to charge but I feel the way it sits on the bottom of the hump could damage it over time.
Bit of a silly oversight from Samsung as they're providing this charger as a free gift here in the UK..

Doesn't sit flat, but it still fast-charges so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
For those that use a case that raises the back to the camera bump, it can help to make even contact.

I haven't seen this as a free gift, I have only seen the Wireless Duo gift for the Galaxy Watch 3, which is a 'lay down' wireless charger pad that would not have this issue. How have you managed to obtain the phone in the UK prior to release day? I am curious.

Nothing sinister... I'd preordered from Samsung.com on Saturday.. when ordering i'd picked the earliest slot for delivery which was on 21st with DPD... was surprised to see that my order was updated on Tuesday and then DPD updated to say will be delivered on Wednesday.. it arrived at 07:07, the earliest delivery I've ever had!
Would have preferred the duo charging pad though!

ive got the vertical stand i got for free with the note 10+ last year. im not having any issues with the phone sitting on the stand. i also use it on the duo charging pad with the watch.

Nice that you got it early. I got my Galaxy Watch 3 yesterday early from the official release date (direct from Samsung)
But what's odd, is everywhere else seemed to be offering the Galaxy Live Buds or the X-Box Controller and Game Pass as pre-order gifts. The buds being my choice as they are worth £180.
I ordered from EE and the phone arrives tomorrow.

Samsung.com had either the buds or a gaming pack which had the controller, wireless charging stand and 3 months gamepass. I chose this as have a set of Sony WF-1000XM3's. I guess the gaming pack in all is probably worth similar.
I've got terrible overheating and battery issues on my Note, may return it if doesnt improve over the next few days.

I have been on XDA for over 15 years and I have lost count of how many people complain about overheating and battery consumption shortly after buying a new device, be it phone, tablet or smartwatch.
But you really need to give the device time to settle. There's a lot going on in the first hours and days, with apps being installed and synchronised, using your new shiny toy more than normal, taking time to optimise certain app and device settings that crop up, (that you probably had disabled on a previous device over time) and then the battery needs a few decent recharge cycles to get settled too.
I think you should give it a few more days and I reckon you'll be ok!

Thanks for the comment, 12 years around here myself I've had too many phones to list over this time, including pretty much every Note device since the Note 4 (i didn't pick up the 7). I've never seen anything like this... the battery i know should settle... but the heat is what is the most annoying causing the screen to be at low brightness every time i pick the bloody thing up, not once did the Note 10+ 5G ever do this even while gaming and such.. just typing this reply I'm guessing the device is now approaching 50c.. battery is at 85%, was taken off charge at 07:30, SOT 28 minutes...

Firstly, I hope you didn't think I was being condescending in my answer! I am never quite sure on what level I am speaking to someone. So it's good to speak to a fellow veteran XDA member (see my sig for all the ridiculous amount of Sammy devices I have owned including all Note series)
I assume you have gone into the battery stats and looked at what is draining your battery. This week funny enough I was noticing a severe drain on my Note 10+ 5G and it wasn't for a couple of days I thought ... hmmm maybe I should check the battery consumption stats! It was LastPass that was doing it, really surprised as I don't even remember updating it. Google Play services is a regular culprit, especially on a new device. So maybe you should look at that first, because what you are describing clearly isn't normal and I haven't read any reports of this being common. Try rebooting in safe mode. Clearing cache in recovery mode.
You've probably tried all the above (I see you rolling your eyes!), I am just trying to cover everything that you might have missed. But I personally don't think the hardware is likely to be the cause. I hope you sort it and let us know what you found. My Note 20 Ultra arrives today, I will report back here if I have the same issues.

Nah didn't think that at all, just offering good advice. Yeah tried all the usual stuff clearing cache etc... didnt really noticed anything out of the ordinary on the battery page, the battery usage today is high from Samsung Internet, but I'd expect it to be the highest today as pretty much only used that today to browse a bit of news this morning, here and the note 20 reddit.. might try removing it and try Chrome for a while..

I can personally verify that this version of the duo that the camera DOES NOT interfere with the charging. View attachment 5083389

Devices overheating

Guys, I would like to know if any of you are having the same experience that I am having right now.
My Samsung Galaxy S3 is overheating to a point that it can burn me a little if I have it inside my pocket.
Is this normal for a device that's not even rooted?
Some people told me to give it back but I would like to know first, cause I seriously hate talking to these people from the help desk.
Any help will be appreciated
Dunno - i've been playing a lot of games ( glwg, asphalt 7, shadowgun etc...) web browsing, pdf editing and viewing and generally using it for what it can do.
Haven't had any overheating problems in the few weeks i've had it, been using that way both in an otterbox defender and naked.
I've seen here and there others mentioning overheating issues but i've yet to experience them firsthand.
My last device suffered some painful to the touch overheating issues which were completely solved by ditching the stock battery and going with an aftermarket one. I've also seen some reference to this being a fix here too.
Not having overheating issues and having been pleasantly surprised with the life of the stock battery for the screen size of the device, I haven't gone aftermarket yet so can't give a firsthand account of how that helps, if at all, but figured i'd toss out what little i've seen so far.
I haven't had any major battery issues until this weekend. I used Google Navigation for 4 hours in the car while charging. I was only 10 – 15 minutes away from my destination when my phone shut itself off...when I needed it most! I tried rebooting...nothing.
I haven't experienced any issues with my S3. However on my previous Galaxy Nexus I did, once the cause was a bad rom/kernel combination the other time later on the battery just gave up on me. I called Verizon and asked for a battery replacement...I told them that I have used another battery of my wife's phone since she owned the same device at the time and with her battery the phone would work just fine without over-heating. The Verizon support guy sent me an extended battery for the inconvenience. I'm always lucky Verizon. Hope this helps.
I have.....not really concerned...bc i had that same problem with my og evo 4g and 3d......

When you sell over 10 million of them a few are bound to be bad (heck 1% failure rate gives 100,000 bad batteries). That said it doesn't seem to be a common problem so I would definitely hold out for a free (to you) replacement.
I find my phone gets hot when I'm in low service areas.. I would venture to guess it's a radio issue..

During about a 10 min email \ web visit with my S3 after a workout, I noticed that the phone was physically hot, to the point I thought it might be too hot. This, coupled with a "no sim" message today, at random, and some crappy battery life, is driving me to visit the local verizon store tomorrow and get it exchanged, just in case. (still in the 14 day window)
Will let you know if it's any better for me.
This is a common problem?

The "no sim" message is, but I can't seem to find a real fix that will work in the US yet. I have seen cell towers blamed to sim cards not being clean to wifi screwing with things. So, I am not sure what really is the root of the problem.
With regards to heat, not sure. It feels like it's hotter than it should be, with normal use. Hotter than my iPad gets with constant use.
I only feel my phone getting slightly warm after playing games for a while. But that happened with my last two smartphones so I'm not really concerned. About as warm as my DInc2 and nowhere near as hot as my LG smartphone.

I have the same problem...
the only thing to have had my phone get really hot was a different charger. Have you been using a different charger lately?
Reminds me of how hot my rezound used to get when they were first released.

I haven't had any heating issues except the fact that it gets hot in my pocket when its really hot out, I've had a replacment since the last time that happened and no heat issues since.
hell my screen just whent out, 2nd s3 i know thats done that. mine and my brother n laws.
No problems here running latest cm10.
I exchanged my initial S3 today at the local Verizon store. I explained it was running hot, the battery life was abysmal, and I had the dreaded "no sim". The salesman and manager started to explain to me there was an update and they couldn't fix it... for about five minutes, until I asked if they could explain how the 14 day return policy worked. They immediately said mine was DOA and would be happy to give me a new phone. Five minutes after I got home from the store, I got a "no sim" message... starting to think its definitely a cell tower \ verizon software issue. Oddly enough, my battery drain is a lot better, so it wasn't all for naught!
My phone does get pretty warm at school, but I chalk that up to having terrible service while indoors. Other than that, it doesn't get that hot.

Vernee Mars Pro Fingerprint Sensor Broken

I have had this phone for exactly 24 hours, and until then the fingerprint scanner installed in it worked relatively well.
After 24H the sensor decided to activate repeatedly automatically (without me touching the sensor) and finally, stop working.
It will not register any new fingerprints or react to the unlock feature or nothing at all. Rebooting won't fix anything, I have yet to try a hard reset.
My question is, even though the phone is really new, has any of this happened to you guys before?
If so, How have you fixed it?
Thank you and sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Mine arrived yesterday, I will let you know how I get on. Hope you get it sorted.
Off topic: I really want to Root it so that I can use titanium backup but I think its too new! I also ordered a plastic Vernee Mars (not pro) case in the hope that it fits, almost identical dimensions

I hope it works, mine is still broken, and now the audio doesnt work at all, if im playing music for instance, it will not sound, and every now and then, play 0.1s of the song, it's really a good phone but its getting on my nerves
Also, update me about the case
Also wanting an update on the case, dimensions look to be near enough identical and there are more case option around for the non pro.
So, a new update
The fingerprint scanner decided to work suddenly today, I opened security and decided to see if I could add a fingerprint to unlock it and to my surprise it decided to work.
Regarding the speaker, I found out that if I suck on the speaker (yes, i put my mouth on the speaker hole and aspire air gently) the music, app, game, anything begins playing, and as soon as I stop breathing in it stops playing.
Why is this happening to me? It honestly is super strange, I already contacted gearbest and I hope they help me solve it or give me a new one

I live in western Europe, and it took GearBest about a month to mail me the phone (It is understandable due to the high demand of the phone at the time) If i'm honest, since this is one of the very first units, I am not surprised it has fails, Its prone to happening and I already was expecting something to fail in a very very new chinese phone.
I will update my experience with GB

The case for the mars fits, pretty much perfect. Did you try a hard reset in the end, at all? Mine is working really well although ive heard the phone is compromised by malware/spyware (did manage to find the folder but you can't disable anything) that's why I am trying to root asap. Other thread is here to follow: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tutorial-vernee-mars-pro-root-t3652213
Did post this one in another thread but this one seems better:

I have this device a week and it's great. Directly installed the OTA of September. Everything worked fine.
Up and until yesterday the fingerprint scanner was really sensitive maybe too sensitive. Then yesterday evening the phone was charged to 100% before I went to sleep so I plugged it out and powered it down to be fully loaded at 100% this morning.
After starting up it seems that the fingerprint print scanner is a lot less sensitive and sometimes it feels sensitivity is degrading during the day of use, to just no sensitivity at all.
Does someone else experienced the same? Does someone have a solution?

It doesn't seem to be a software problem, but a hardware problem. For me the fingerprint sensor works for some time, then one day it messes up and stops working for a week or so. I really dont know what's wrong, seems to fix by itself.

Thank, so it is a matter of ups and downs?
I did some gaming while on charge yesterday so maybe some heating can cause this?
I also have some Bluetooth issues while calling on my carkit. Music on my carkit is fine. Will an app like Bluetooth Auto connect be of any help?
Besides that I really like the phone overall.

Yes, it seems to be a matter of ups and downs, same with the speaker. Apparently when the humidity is high, my speaker refuses to work at high volumes ( it crackles and then it stops working)
My charger blew up recently actually (But that was because of some problem with my home's powerline). I got a Samsung charger, slightly slower charge, but my battery now lasts for much longer I have realises (I'm speaking 9V charging instead of 12V)
It is true the phone heats a lot, that's why I'd avoid using it while charging or at least if I plan to charge it all the way, since by the end it will be really hot.
Regarding bluetooth, I really havent had any problems whatsoever, therefore I can't really tell, for me bluetooth has always worked well with cars and speakers and so. I doubt an app like that be of any help, since it should pair automatically with the closest bluetooth source so perhaps that could cause a conflict, but I havent tried it so I can't know for sure.

Cheered too early, messed up again... It seems that a moist finger works better. It notice the touch better, but then it doesn't recognizes it....
Bleutooth calling went ok today. Seems though that I have the P20 or P25 lite version of the Mars Pro. Not the regular P2t
Should have chosen the Xiaomi Note 4 Global instead... I will monitor it a couple of days but I think I will look for a better 64gb/6gb USB type-c device in the near future....[emoji19]

Refurb Galaxy N4 - Battery issues? Or is everything just completely fine.

Hi there,
Am familiar with android and samsung and have used various handsets over the years. I got a N4 the other day from CEX here in the UK for £190. 2 year warranty. It's a great phone. Now IK the battery won't be that great as its used. But I have this issue I have encountered on samsung phones from the 2013-2014 era. It's this weird issue where when you charge it, it won't go beyond a certain number, but once you restart it or take the battery out it starts charging again or says it is 100%.
I'm sure this is a software issue as the battery is fine I think - won't spin or anything . Is this just an overreaction? Am I okay to not bother taking the battery out and restarting it, and just leave it, as it is quite irritating to have to keep on doing it.
I'm open to all opinions.
Thanks

Contemplating the 7 plus

I got the Honor play about 2 weeks ago, returned it on Saturday just gone.
Was an OK phone with a few issues, till I came use pop my sim card in, then the auto dim in most apps that CAN NOT be disabled short of ADB' deleting the app started driving me mad, I returned it
Looking at the 7 plus, Argos has it at £200
Any common issues or problems ?
Usb c failing in almost all units after a couple of months.
so not a durable port then on the 7 ?

Mine is working without any hardware problems since oktober 2018.
Most people have no problems, but some do have problems and they tend to react more then persons who are happy.

Couldn't agree more,
A guy who bought the phone 6 month ago tell you that he has no problem with the port and people overreact, LOL. Yes, 6 month ago of a phone that is supposed to last 2 years.
You just have to wait my friend, i was feeling lucky when i was reading the people complaining, maybe is some batch, or something, i thought... Just wait and then come back to here.
To the OP, you can go to Nokia forum and check the number of view of the "usb c port failure" and take your own conclusions. There is people that have problems with screen and touch.
Apart from this 2 things the phone is quiet good!

That you don't have problem with the port doesn't mean that is not a common problem with a lot of user facing issues. In general i think is a matter of time, maybe a little bit of luck also. The usb c is designed to last 5000 plug and un-plug at least. If a lot of people have problems with that, it means the design or quality control is not good. It doesn't imply you are going to have a problem with that, maybe yours work perfect and last 5000 plug and un-plug. It is a matter of number of people having this problem. I have godix screen to and is working perfect.

I have the phone for a year also. No problems whatsoever.
Great phone. As someone already said, unhappy people are the one reacting more than the others. £200 is a great price for processor sd660, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and fhd and Android one.
Nokia forum is populated mostly by india/Asia users, so I can talk about that part of the world.
It is a nice phone though (only a bit too big).
Have had the Nokia 7+ since it came out in UK (TA-1055) Feb 2018 and no problems at all Brilliant phone for the money.

Hi,
bought the phone in july 2018. I love it, fast, snappy, consistent updates, long battery, nice camera and so on, overall nice experience.
BUT : Failing usb C for a month now and a strange looking yellowish stain on the top left of the display. The problem is I am living in another country at the moment and giving the phone back for a replacement/repair is a pain in the a**. Nevertheless, even though I have these problems I will still buy the same one if I had to take the decision now, just because of the small possibillity that this does not happen again. I am travelling at the very moment and imagine what a nightmare it is to keep a phone charged when the port is working only in one position with something heavy on top of it everytime so it enables fast charge otherwise it charges with 60 mA instead of 1500+mA... Consider the risk and I wish you good luck with your purchase, hopefully you make the right decision.

Oppo overheating

Had the oppo phone since the 10th of of June and generally impressed with it after having a Note 8 for a couple of years.
The only issue I have so far is that when I’ve used it in the car to navigate and the phone has given me a warning about overheating. Has anyone else had this? The first time I was plugged into a generic car charger but the second was just the phone itself.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Never had any sort of heating issues, may be worth factory resetting or getting a replacement via warranty

So far it seems that the vegan leather variant really might be heaving some slight overheating issues as the plastic doesn't dissipate the heat so well.
Ceramic variant is much better in this regard, basically confirmed by being able to maintain stable 600K+ score on Antutu while the orange variant scores 600K in the first run, but then drops by 50K in each run respectively.
