Hi!
My Pixel 2 XL is 2'5 years old and I wanted to change this year. OP Nord seems a good option, but I don't know it camera is similar or worse, Pixel's camera is incredible and it's important to me, at day, at night, videos, ... What do you tink?
Performance will not be a problem, I don't play, only use to work.
Thanks!
Hi! I have a Oneplus Nord from Pixel 2 XL. Camera is a little bit better in some ocasions and have better quality, less sound in pics... And is also improved if you install Google Camera app!
About performance is almost same, with more RAM that helps a lot to run some apps. I suggest you to buy it, is a great change!

do you guys think the camera quality will be improved in a future software update ? kitkat perhaps ? they did it with the nexus 5
I think they will definitely fix it by the January update but I wouldn't expect more than what they did for the Moto X.
I'm guessing unlikely. Unlike the Moto G, those other phones got fixes because they were premium devices and have capable hardware, which caused turmoil among their user base pre-fix.
Mostly no one expects a budget phone such as the Moto G to do better than it already does.
Unlikely...it's just the way it is

Meanwhile you can try alternative camera apps like VSCO or Focal (CynogenMod Camera App) - with a bit of patience I can produce good not oof pictures.
+1 for Snap Camera in Play Store.
Is it really that bad? How's the shutter speed?

The shutter speed is good, but the quality of the photos is not very good in dim lighting. Sometimes it is necessary to take more than one shot to get a satisfactory result.
I think it's just a poor camera to be honest, remember how little this thing costs

Yep this is what I suspect.
I don't think it'll be software especially after the Moto X.

I would, but I'm only getting the phone on Tuesday :/
Maybe someone else can shine some light for the curious?
Yep, the same here. Can't wait for my order to arrive...
Bought the Moto G for £99 here in the UK and was a choice between the Sony Xperia L for a similar discounted price and the camera on the Moto G is worse than my HTC Desire from several years ago! I'm still within the 28 returns period so could possibly buy the Sony to test at home too but even with the new camera update, pictures have so much noise I have actually checked the glass covering the lens several times for any plastic etc they might have left on it for packaging. Apart from the camera the Moto G feels like a £300+ phone but I think the Sony Xperia L which has 8MP Camera as well as MicroSD slot etc might be the better phone for the same money.

You can find a pretty good review here.
I think that the camera quality is almost the same regarding the back camera.
Personally I suggest you to offer the Nexus 5:
• Android updates
• Light
• Cheap
• Smooth (I hate TouchWiz!)
The battery life isn't the same... however I have good results with my N5 thanks to our XDA developers

they aren't really the same age. sgs3 came out in june of 2012. nexus 5 came out in nov of 2013. that's 17 months of difference... or a lifetime in the terms of phone components.
My opinion coming from a note 3 I actually like this camera better it just seems more user friendly in my honest opinion **** I've had this phone for 3 days now and I absolutely love it

I used to have an N5 then swapped it for a G2. G2 took a nose dive in some ocean so bought another N5. I dont remember it being so awful at taking pics but now that certain users and their awesome mods have been removed from XDA, Im wondering if anyone knows of any good camera mods or tricks to improve overall still picture quality of the N5?
There are a few things that I recommend to all of my friends that buy a Nexus 5. Out of those 5 or so things, 2 of them are for the camera / recording.
Jishnu's Camera Fix 1.5
Chdloc's Audio Fix (installer by Aroma)
Flash both in recovery and enjoy a better performing and better sounding camera!
HDR+ works wonders.

This too.
Out of interest, what are the other things you recommend to your friends?
I'm on the verge of RMA-ing my v1 build nexus 5 due to GPS, battery, and now massively grainy camera quality, and so if/when I get a fresh v2 build i'm planning on going the right way about it, rooting immediately and loading up the best optimisers. Thanks!

By December 2013 there were 3 builds. I have the first, & people seem to be successfully RMA-ing to get newer builds which have flaws fixed.

hardware-modding a qx1 onto your nexus 5 will give you a much better camera... you have interchangable lens too, can do tele-zoom if you want to

Nope. Its complete rubbish. One guy took that one photo about how he had bigger holes (which he did) but wrongly assumed it was a "new version" then every idiot tech blog and news site cloned his article as truth and Brought about one of the biggest misconceptions in technology news history.
I'm sorry but there is only one version. Buy a brand new nexus manufactured yesterday, you may have big holes, you may have little holes. Its not because of different versions. Its because there are big variations in their production lines
I wrote a thread about it here
Will everyone please stop talking about different hardware versions?

I think vivo India may release source code after receiving few requests. So i appeal everybody to mail them or send them messages through Facebook or Instagram.
Moreover Indian Vivo Nex Rom is the closest to what we can get in the name of international rom.
I am no developer, but I know once the source codes will be out , many potential developers would be ready to build Roms for it. Below I am giving the links to reach VIVO INDIA:

In India we already have G apps enabled on Nex . So no worries about that. But all I want is stock android on Nex and that won't be possible without root. Thus created this thread.
Anyways thank you for your response.
For me in design and hardware department NEX is the king , but in software OnePlus 6 and Pixel 2 are still the best.

WOW i'm impressed by Vivo representative knowledge regarding source kernel released :laugh::good:
Not gonna happen guys especially with these customer executives. 90% of them dont have any knowledge and they just go by the set of answers, provided to them, which are robotic in nature (Seeing development in AI, even that will be better).
Offtopic: Anyone received phone yet? Its been 4 days but no movement of courier. Tracking shows left Sonipet Hub and that is it without any update since 22nd. Chatted with Amazon Customer service yesterday and the response was expected -will do everything to expedite- but no change in courier status.

How is your experience so far? I'm confused between this, oneplus 6 red or Asus max pro, oneplus have poor audio and this has no root support might as well wait it out for a year using the budget phone as the full screen would be common next year I think.

Performance wise this mobile is a beast.
But sadly inability to root does bother me sometime as prior to this I was using rooted Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. For 11k it is the best you can get.
I chose this over OnePlus 6 due to bigger screen , bigger battery , no notch (I hate notch) , indisplay fingerprint and that psychedelic back (you have to see it in real life , on videos it's beauty ain't justified).
If you want stock android experience with conventional form factor then buy OnePlus 6 but if you want to experience freshness then buy NEX.

I don't like the looks of oneplus but that red color is a beauty, also battery seems pretty weak along with audio on that phone. what is the battery performance like on this phone? what kind of SOT are you getting? also how efficient is indisplay fps? does it work with banking apps and play store to authenticate purchases? Also how much did you pay for this phone? I might be able to get it for as low as 31K after gst claims. My main concern are good fps, great battery life and great audio through earphones and bluetooth. Are they good enough to last at least 2 years? or should I stick to Max pro M1 6gb model for now? given it has great battery life, camera can be improved with gcam and fps seems decent too.

SOT is 6.5hrs to 7.5 hrs , depending over your usage.
Audio quality is damn amazing with wired earphone , comparable to the lg g4 (it also had dac) , didn't get a chance to use Bluetooth ones though.
Fps while gaming is surely hell lot better than Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (I play RULES OF SURVIVAL).
Even cameras are at par with OnePlus 6.
And in my case fingerprint is also reliable unlike what reviewers said.

Thanks for replying back so quickly, by fps I meant fingerprint scanner I don't play games that often, this phone gets my attention mainly due to wow factor of the screen and latest processor and 8 GB of ram. My mostly use would be emailing, insta and snap that's about it. Max pro offers over 10 hours of SOT which seems really irresistible along with knowing it would be updated to P sooner than later and this doesn't even have any official confirmation it will be updated to next android version -_-

Good phone. Worried about updates. Let's hope they take customer feedback.
Using Nex S for two days now. No issues with the device
Hello, good evening, all greetings from Mexico ..
I have a doubt .. and I hope I am oriented .., I currently have a Google Pixel 2 XL and I change it for a my mix 2s. I like everything that is both roms customization and root ... unfortunately the Google Pixel 2 XL can not unlock the bootloader being Verizon. And it lacks more personalization, since nothing can be done .., here the comment is .. is it really worth changing the phone .. ..?
Could someone give me your point of view, some suggestions ..?
Thank you and good night
I wouldn't change. The processor difference is not good enough since sd835 still a good one , you are the first to get new updates , camera is way better ...battery may be worse

I'd keep the pixel. The only reason I got the MiMix2S instead was the price...
I wouldn't change, the pixel is still an amazing device. I have a mix 2s and i can say it is a beast in every department and also wouldn't trade it for a pixel 2 ? and the camera isn't that much better, if at all. But if you're coming from a Google device and want to experience different ROMs, i would recommend the oneplus 6 ?
