Did you notice that the Note 20 Ultra has a built in screen protector out of the box?
I won't have mine in hand for a bit over 24 hours from time of this post...
However, I did notice Zach (JerryRigEverything) posed a durability "test" as usual and it appears to have the same type of protection as earlier models starting with the S10 series last year.
how many threads do this forum need about this? take a little time to search and not be so selfish and lazy.

None of the demo models I saw had one, and the review units on YouTube didn't appear to have one either.
But a member here received his early in the United Arab Emirates, and he said it had a factory installed screen protector just like the S20 and the Note 10. On Jerry Rig Everything, Zach showed that it came with a factory installed screen protector as well.
I ordered some screen protectors just in case. You will need them. Gorilla Glass Victus scratches just as easy as previous versions.

Which ones did you order?
It does, but it's extremely thin & I doubt it will be very effective long-term.
Well I got mine today and I cannot see or feel on edge of device if there is one installed. There is no cutout around front facing camera. I have been searching since mine arrived several hours ago and I am finding nothing that says for sure that one is installed.

that makes my decision easy, I left the factory one on my note 10 plus and the fingerprint scanner worked on the first try maybe 70% of the time.
finally took it off as it wore and boom worked on the first try almost always..huge difference.
so i hadn't decided when my 20 ultra came (caved and ordered the 512gb even though black sucks) if Id leave it or ditch it immediately.
I see yes and I see no. Friend of mine called Verizon they said no due to the new Gorilla Glass

I find the pre-installed Screen Protectors decent for what they are. I had one on my Wife's S9, S10 and S20 and my Note 9 and Note 10. They seem to last about a year before they start to get bubbles. But short of that no complaints.
Looking the reviews over and it seems the rabid gerbils at Samsung seem to think this phone should sit screen down.
If you put it back down, there's it is pivoting on the cam hump like some misbalanced freak of nature.
Case and screen protector or it will get all beat to hell...
Doubtful I'll upgrade from the Note 10+ in spite of the 20's really cool specs and features.
I expect better, worse all the added off balanced bulk and NO 3.5mm jack. Samsung doesn't listen...
Got mine today and just has the protective film with holes cut out of it for camera and fingerprint sensor. I'm tempted to run it without one lol

Cool.... it looks like great fun
The fact the factory screen protector has a cut out for the fingerprint sensor though is troublesome.
Sand is the biggest screen scratch culprit.
I'd use a wet apply urethane protect like IQ Shield once the factory one wears out which could be many months from now.
Definitely would get a good case that has slightly raised on the ends to protect the screen on flat surfaces.
I use the Bolt on my 10+ and it works very well. However the factory screen protect saved it from a nasty faceplant the 2nd day I had the phone.
Many who run phones like these naked end up replacing cracked screens as there's very little bevel to protect them from corner impacts... my 10+'s favorite landing spot are its case corners or to faceplant.
No reviews yet, the Bolt for the 10+ is excellent. Not sure about the one for the 20 ultra:
https://www.zizowireless.com/produc...axy-note-20-ultra-case?variant=32315584282672
This wet apply soft screen protector works very well although it requires some time to properly install. Edges stay down and if a edge lifts can be sealed back down with touch and a tad of moisture. Have 3 months on my 10 and it still looks great with no scratches.
Compatible with the Bolt.

Installed my Ringke Easy Dual screen protector today, since the US models don't come with one pre-installed.
Love this Ringke screen protector. It's invisible and has no effect on the fingerprint reader at all. Highly recommend it.

Got mine yesterday. And it indeed has a cut off at the camera, so it must be there.
Also my fingerprint scanner seems to be like your 70%. (Identical with my note 10, haha we are the same early adapters.)
So I will pull it off.
Huib
p.s. just pulled it off. It is very thin. I never had scratches on my Note 10, so no worries.
And my fingerprint works 100% now!

Fully agree. Did the same. There is a difference in fingerprints quality however. The older a person gets the worse they get. I tested it with my children.
So if you ar young and beautiful maybe you can leave the screen protector.

Isn't the one installed just a shipping protective film?
Phones used to be packed in a plastic or fabric type cover before putting in the box. These days they aren't and I think the film is just to protect the screen during transit. I believe that because it's just too flimsy to be a proper screen protector.
.
I had left the film over the screen on as it was unnoticeable but removed it after reading this thread.
The finger print sensor is MUCH better now! ?

I had always used dry ones before on my previous phones. They were all fine and each lasted about a month before scratches started to show and I just replace it with another one
I currently have Skinomi. I liked it but it's already showing signs of stretches and unhealed marks/dents.

No cutout for proximity sensor could be a problem. Maybe that's why they're so cheap. Then again at $2 for 6, I have a feeling even the cheapest wet protector will feel better than those

I've always used wet apply protectors (6 different phones, and 3 tablets). No problems so far. I think you'd end up with more water in your device while talking on the phone in the rain than with applying wet protectors. Then again I also use distilled water which has lower conductivity than tap.
Here's my experience using a high quality (SGP) screen protector vs cheap ebay ones :
Im currently using SGP dual (front & back) ultraclear for about a month and although its a bit of a fingerprint magnet, so far there are no visible scratches on the protectors. Seems like it holds up pretty well against all the rubbings in my jacket pocket this past month. SGP claims of its material hardness was proven since there are no scratches at all so far :good:. And I thought all screen protectors are made equal...until I was proven wrong a couple of weeks ago..
I helped a housemate bought and install cheap dry application screen protectors on ebay for his samsung exhibit II phone. They are cheap (6 for $1.95), but it took 3 trials for me to finally be satisfied with the result as the first 2 trials resulted in scratches on the protectors when I was squeegee-ing the bubbles. I did not use a squeegee on the 3rd trial and just pushed the bubbles out using my fingers. as a result some of the bubbles are trapped (but went away after a couple of days). However, upon closer look, some of the protector edges are not flat, resulting on lifting on the edges. The thing just looks plain ugly.
So, my advise is stay away form the cheap protectors...you may get lucky with a hi quality protectors but odds are youre going end up with a lo quality ones (hence the low price). They are also prone to scratches. Yeah with the cheap ones, you can change it monthly but since the process of applying a protector takes about 1-2 hour for me, I prefer to install it once and be happy about it for the rest of the cellphone's life...
PS : BTW, the one you posted doesnt have a proximity sensor cutout...

I have gone through quite a bit of smartsphone.. each of them I been applying different type of screen protector to try them out.
It really depends on how *cheap* they are...
I purchase 4 for $1.50 on ebay.. they feel as premium as those $14 for 2 high quality one (sgp)
but they do get scratches much more easily than high quality one.
And even if you manage to not get scratches on them, they tend to get worn out in the middle due the swiping ..

Are you sure you didn't put it on backwards? Weirdly enough that's what I was about to comment on, it does seem to mess with the proximity sensor, as the screen will remain black during calls.

I can seem to find a good one for the galaxy s8 so i'm considering going without one.

This glass scratches easily for me. I went about 2 weeks without one. Being very careful I still found very small scratches.... Can't really see them without looking at a certain angle but definitely there. Go with an armorsuit wet apply. Just take your time putting it on and let it rest over night. Applied it with good pressure and it came out perfect for me. Don't even notice I have one. No lifted edges eaither.

My phones don't scratch. I don't really need a case or a screen protector, but there were times when I would put a matte screen protector(ArmorSuite) to eliminate fingerprint smudges. I don't keep my phones long enough to warrant buying accessories for it.

You can of course buy screen protector, it won't do harm to your device. It of course depends how well you take care of devices. For example one of my friends drops phones a lot or just while talking may hit it against some object(not on purpose). If my screen doesn't get scratched, I don't see a point in buying one. The longest I have used a phone is for 6 month(many years ago) and after that all of my phones were used no more than 3 months.

I don't want you to get an impression that I am rich Basically what I do is: Buy a good phone of my choice(I buy mostly used in excellent condition), use it for few months and when you see something you like, sell it(I sell on eBay), then purchase another model with the money you got from selling your previous phone - this continues for many years. Just take good care of the phone(no scratches, marks...) and if you don't use accessories that came with your phone, then it is even better and you can get better price.

I am using and wasted almost sgd150 on many screen protectors.
I tried without for few days. Scratches are visible. Good to get protected.
I never saw the point in a screen protector. Gorilla glass is really hard to scratch. My s5 after over 2 years of heavy use only had a few very minor scratches, and the screen on the s8 is even less scratchable. Unless you regularly use sandpaper to navigate your phone, you shouldn't need a screen protector.

I've had my S8 since it launched and I don't have a physical screen protector on it. All of my previous devices had glass screen protectors on them. Since this phone has curves I didn't bother with one. The TPU protectors I can't stand because they dent soo easily, and for me it's worse than having scratches on the glass. I have very minimal scratches that can only be seen in certain lighting which don't bother me at all. I decided to buy the Woosh Diamond Defence liquid screen protector after the scratches appeared to help reduce future scratches (also applied some on my camera lens). I've had it on for about a month and no new scratches have appeared (that I can see) so far.
I have a case. I tried a protector but like normal I got annoyed and threw it away. No scratches and I've had it for about 4 months now. I hate screen protector they make the phone look worse than if they had scratches so what's the point? It's like when people cover there couch with those ugly ass plastic covers.

This is the kind of thing that scares me. My Note 4 has seen heavy use for almost three years now and the glass is utterly flawless. Lot of these S8 threads have replies like "Oh I've had it a couple months it only has a few scratches on it."
I've always used glass screen protectors on my phones and it's kept them immaculate, but I've tried two diff types of glass ones on my S8+ and I just cannot get them to stay on for any length of time, so I'm going without which sucks, but what can you do?

No.
If nothing ever comes in contact with your screen except your hand, there's no reason to have a screen protector. The reason most people scratch their screens is because they put them in their pockets with other stuff like coins and keys. If I'm paying $700 or so for a handheld computer, I'm not sticking it in my pocket like it's my spare change.
I use a belt holster most of time. I try not to stick my phone in my pockets, since I keep metal objects like keys on a key chain and coins in my pockets. The few times I do put my phone in my pocket -- like when wearing shorts with elastic band -- I make very sure nothing else is in that pocket. And that's very rarely. The only time I have ever scratched my phone screen (one of the Nexus phones years ago) was the one time I ignored that rule. Learned my lesson.
Yep.
Because if I pay $700 for a handheld computer, I'm going to afford it all the physical protections I would a $700 handheld computer :v
Seriously though, I live in a rural area, where gravel dust - containing quartz, which is harder than the Mohs 6 that the digitizer glass is - is quite abundant.
I had my Droid 4 out on my desk for one day, before the screen protector arrived, and managed to inflict several super-fine scratches just playing with it. One day. Thankfully, my Turbo/Quark came with a Verizon one preinstalled (which itself has received several scratches so far).
Gorilla glass is under stress by design: each scratch is a potential hit to impact resistance. I keep my Quark in a case and plan to continue doing that with whatever I get next, but every bit of added durability on top of that helps.
(amusingly, this is the first phone I've actually felt I needed to protect. my previous phones - aforementioned Droid 4 and an LG Ally - were built like bricks and survived several drops apiece. good ol' keyboard sliders.)
As for which one, well, whichever one gets it right. Apparently nobody has figured out how to make a good one for Samsung's ridiculously-curved screens, but I'm hoping that the lesser-curved digitizer on the v30 will be less of an issue.
I'm not particularly picky about brands, but I will say that if it comes down to getting a rubber film instead, I'll probably get a Skinomi one. It worked pretty well for my pre-Quark phones (though obviously isn't as nice to the touch as glass is).
I got the LG v20 and I order the screen protector after the phone but luckily it came with one pre-installed. I want to the v30 but am in the process of porting the v30 to the v20 and I always recommend a temper glass protection. Why? just because of being human and human error and you never know, somebody could bump you and accidentally dropped it. But to each it owns. $700+ for a phone is a lot, the v20 was $850+, especially if its main purpose is to call and text. That's why I always put cases and screen protector on my mini laptop. But I know myself and I was try to prevent things before it's to late...Better safe than sorry
I plan on getting the V30 (coming from 2015 Moto X Pure) and I always get a screen protector. I don't put my phone in my pockets but always in my belt clip holster. There's times where I have fumbled with my phone and it has fallen or it being on the desk and it takes an accidental tumble or just pure accidental bumping into something.
All my portable electronics have tempered glass i.e. iPads, digital cameras
All it takes is that one lucky drop.
i just bought the Wimaha one from Amazon.. hopefully it fits well
Waiting to see if there's one on it like the V20 had. I still have the one that came with the V20 on it. Had it since it came out. Somehow I suspect the V30 won't have one though as I bet they want to show off that screen.
I went with the GLASS-M one on Amazon. Hoping it works well on the v30. Will post back after it shows up tomorrow.
Edit,
Great protector from what I can tell. Easy to adhere

Yeah I did .... honestly tried to find one that looked like the one from Verizon. No idea how amazon let them review it unless it was a different product listing and somehow got updated?
Anyways, easy returns if it doesn’t work. But their other protectors (other devices) looked to get good reviews.
I got this.... LG V30 Screen Protector, Vigeer [ 2 Pack ] [0.3mm, 2.5D] on amazon... it doesn't connect at the rop right edge... sucks.... I hope I can return...
I picked up this same model and I'm not very happy with it. There's a dot grid that's visible when around bright overhead lights (office lighting, sun, etc) and the oleophobic coating does not seem to perform very well. I just placed the screen protector yesterday and I find myself constantly wiping the screen to remove fingerprints.

I went with the GLASS-M one on Amazon. Hoping it works well on the v30. Will post back after it shows up tomorrow.
Edit,
Great protector from what I can tell. Easy to adhere

Full screen protection and case friendly? I hate the ones that don't go side to side cause they are ugly will watching videos and even just using keyboard they add a lip to the side

I bought this as well and it is trash. About every third tap did not register. Very frustrating. I also tried one of the plastic stick on type like I had for my Galaxy S5, but it never kept contact near the curved edge. Still looking for one that isn't crap.
just picked up this one below;
Spigen LG V30 Screen Protector NeoFlex / 2 Pack / Wet Application for LG V30
Wet application type but well see how it goes!
Anybody know about the Qmaddix "liquid glass" stuff. Seems people swear its the greatest or its "snake oil". Verizon Reseller is pushing it hard!

Judging by the reviews it's either deal or really hard to do correctly

Well I don't know what are you doing with your phone but mine is like new! Also I don't get why a lot of people complain about the pre installed screen protector, it's great and best of all it's free!
Mine is still like it isn't there. The only downside is fingerprint sensor.
I've had my phone for just over a month and the original protector is perfect. I've had the phone in and out of cases several times and there is no peeling and no marks. It feels smooth, like glass, and is clear and clean. Like I said, perfect. ?
I actually bought screen protectors with the phone, unaware that one would be fitted already, and I've had no reason to switch. FWIW I'm also using the included clear case, even though I bought a few others. Goog job, Samsung.
I had a small tear, and I wanted to see if its glass or cover, - so felt the cover kinda coming off and had to peel it eventually. But it was kinda loose too
Pre- installed...Wait where they do that at lol

because customers were complaining about the screen saver scratching and some even sending their phones back over it. Also samsung would send customers for free replacement screen savers. Wasn't worth the hassle in this market for them anymore.

I'm not sure buddy, I installed one of those non glass ones yesterday after I received my U1. It's the type that is installed in two parts and no heat or water is needed. I believe LK and Qitoyo are the same, bought the latter it's ok. Good overage and smooth. 10$ three pack.

Thanks. I got the Ringke dual easy which applies really well. Just that the quality of the sticker is inferior to the factory installed one I had on my Note 10

I was about to buy that one. But it mentioned it has some wings technology that wraps around the sides. That bit put me off a little. What's it like in practice?

It is great actually. The wings that wrap around go just a tiny bit towards the back glass and do not affect the look of the black glass. The wings also help secure the protector from lifting off the edges
I also put a skin on the back to get rid of the fingerprints you get on the black N20U .

I was looking for a topic like this haha. My one actually developed a few bubbles and I had to peel it off a couple of days ago. I received my unit in early September.
I am now struggling to find a good protector that works well with a case. Tried Ringkie but the protector was a way smaller than my phone!! Looks like it was a faulty batch. Tried another one - Apiker, and it peeled off when I putted my phone to my Spigen case despite Apiker advertising it won't.
I am now stranded in the middle of nowhere. Don't know what to buy to have a bubble-free screen and compatible with my Spigen case. Ordered the Spigen screen protector but it has mixed reviews...
I now regret I removed the original one.

Just get the one of the ones mentioned earlier to tied you over . They're a dry applied 3 or 4 stage peel type. I think most are made by the same factory. Leaves about 2mm on edges almost like the factory applied gap.

I couldn't find a single dry protector that would be bubble free and compatible with a case. No matter how hard I try to follow the instructions the protector either has bubbles/spots or peels off when phone is in a case. It just doesn't stick firmly. I will try my luck with Spigen wet protector. It should be compatible with Spigen cases as advertised. Already spent around 40 pounds on different protectors with no luck. I wish Samsung could offer the service for a fee. Their factory screen protector was attached perfectly.
I still have pre-installed screen protector on mine too and it's sitting well and is like new still.

Sorry for posting in the wrong thread. Quite new to forums. I have a SM-9860 and I'm having issue with videos (ie: youtube, insta or browser video) it's showing a green pixelated videos.
Anyone have issues with the factory screen protector on the inner screen? I'm noticing it's starting to unglue at the edge where the screen folds. Is that normal? Is that covered by Samsung's care plan?

I guess you will have it in the next months or so. Unfortunately I can't send any pictures due to travelling without my other phone.
Got the same as well. But for what I'm told, you can send it in or drop it off in a service point from Samsung. There is a youtuber who filmed the whole thing @ samsung service point.

Same happened with mine, I contacted Samsung and they advised me to go to the repair centre in my city and advised me I will be charged for this.
In the end I said f this and just peeled it off, now I understand why everyone was so keen on doing it in the first place and I have been free of it for about 3 weeks now.
Plenty of good 3rd party screen protectors that go on great and feel much better. I swapped mine out a couple of times now. Am currently trying a matte protector.

It really doesn't bother me at this point, but if it gets worst ill most likely yank it off. I'm not good at all at installing screen protectors...

What do you think about the matte screen protector? How much does it affect the image quality?

To be honest it is a real compromise between fingerprints and reflections vs screen quality. The matte is definitely more grainy and doesn't seem quite as bright. Its not terrible in my opinion but it may bug the heck out of you.

I had the matte for the front display but couldn't stand the grainy screen. The quality drop was significant especially on white or lite colours. But when the screen was off there were no smudges and my fingers glided smoothly over the display. Now back to clear anyways.

I bought a second hand Z Fold 2. It should be here Monday. The previous owner put a matte protector on it. I went ahead and ordered a clear one, because I don't think I'll like the matte. Screen quality is really important to me. I just kinda hoped your answer would be. "It's great! Can't even tell it's there!"
But alas, looks like I'll be swapping screen protectors.
Thank you for your response too.

Yes. It will drive you crazy. I tried watching a video this morning and it was very noticeable. Must be the material used though. I have a matte protector on my Ipad pro and it doesn't effect the screen quality any where near as much.
Yup. HATED the matte SP. I loved the feel and the lack of fingerprints, and hoped I could get used to it. Until I watched a movie. It looked like watching a worn out redubbed version of a movie on VHS.
Ripped that screen protector right off and replaced it with a Gobukee clear screen protector. MUCH better!!
Can anyone provide a link for the interior screen protect? I need to buy one because it's constantly ungluing in the middle?
Thank you.
facing same issue after three months.

I just installed the Ozero about five days ago. I noticed yesterday that it was starting to peel up on the edges right at the crease. Planned to change it out this weekend. Then today I opened the phone and the Orzero completely let go at the crease. From top to bottom it came loose from the screen. I'll try to post a pic tonight of it when I'm home and have access to my other phone.
I'll try the other Ozero screen protector I have and hope this was a fluke, since I love how smooth these feel, but if the next one lets go like this one, I'll go back to Gobukee. I never had an issue with them.
