Hello, I recently purchased a Dasaita (HA2154-MAX6) PX6 RK3399 Android 10 headunit. I am rather disappointed with the interface/functionality of stock "music player" app and would like to use a 3rd party app for playing digital audio files. I have found a couple of apps that might be suitable, but the issue I'm having is that I would like to play music from a USB removable media rather than transfer all of the music to the main storage of the device itself. It appears that when the USB drives are mounted, a new folder representing the drive is created within root/storage/ directory, rather than under the root/storage/emulated/0/ (or whatever is the default storage directory?). Due to the mount location, it appears that the USB drive is not accessible to the Android MediaStore (which many music players use to access your music files) or some older android apps that don't make use of the MediaStore database. I have been able to navigate to the device within some media player apps and start playing music from the USB, however when the system is restarted the app cannot load the files again and must be stopped, restarted, and then navigated to the correct directory again to reload the files. Is there some way in which the music files on the USB can be read by the system without having to restart the app and browse to the files every single time the system is turned off?

I really don't *get* android.
I put a bunch of mp3 files in a folder called "music" on sdcard2 (my
external micro sdcard - the one that goes in the slot on the side, OK).
I start either the music app or winamp and it says "no songs found" (or
the equivalent in winamp).
If I use a file manager to look at these files I can start them playing
in either winamp or music .... EXCEPT half the time some of the songs
don't play and I get a "this filetype not supported ..." (or something
to that effect).
I need some android clue about how this all works
TIA
Try either a capital M in the word Music (it's not Windows ) or try putting it on your internal memory...some apps don't like running from SDCard for whatever reason and some apps don't mind it, so it's worth a try...
I use DoubleTwist to do everything media related on my tablet and phone and it works great...transfers/organizes just like iTunes but better, imo...good luck.
The media scanner scans the entire filesystem for music, movies, etc. so it doesn't matter what the folder is named. The first scan (or scanning after a reboot) can take some time depending on a number of conditions (number of files...) so if you've just loaded the files they may not show up in your media players right away. You also might have a file called ".nomedia" in the root of your SD Card which prevents the media scanner from scanning the card which would prevent your media players from listing the files.
As for them not functioning when selected from a file manager... could be the files are corrupted. Perhaps they have an MP3 extension but are not really MP3's (other operating systems are more forgiving of this particular problem). Could be problems with the file system itself, which could also be causing the media scanner to fail.
Hello,
yes, I'm new to this forum. And yes, I right away have a really special problem
I have ripped my 2000+ CD's onto a harddisk. Now I've bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 which has the USB host feature which works without problems.
When I use the stock music player, I can't remove the USB harddisk with the large MP3 library because when I do, the automatic media scanning removes all files from the database, and when I connect the harddisk again, all files are scanned anew which lasts an eternity
So I looked for a music player which maintains its own database independent from the Android one. After a REALLY long search I found TTpod which works well - when I remove the USB harddisk, the TTpod library remains unmodified and doesn't get rescanned when connecting again, just like I wanted it. The music folder on the harddisk got a ".nomedia" file so it's invisible to the Android media scanner.
BUT (!), and that's why I'm asking here for help:
TTpod doesn't have a search function! (The stock player and some others have.)
But I need one! Often I have to search for something like "Err... there was this piano prelude by Brahms...", and in other players it's easy: I type "brahms piano prelude" into the search box, and voilĂ - there are all matching files listed. But with TTpod it's very awkward to find something in a larger collection!
So, my question in short:
Is there any media player
1) which has an own independent media library with search function
2) which can use a folder on a USB device as root folder
3) whose library remains unaltered when the storage medium is disconnected
4) which can index this folder in spite of a ".nomedia" file in it?
Or is there any other possibility to solve my problem and maintain a huge MP3 library with my SGS2 comfortably?
Thanks in advance,
best wishes,

Try PowerAmp,
You can turn off system media scanning and i believe it keeps its own database.
I'm sorry, but PowerAmp uses the built-in Android library.
AND it can't use a folder on an external USB device.
*sigh*

Try power player..
Do you mean "Power Music Player"? There's one app named Power Player but that's for streaming...
Power Music Player doesn't work. Shows empty Library tab; I can't choose any folders.
I don't want to be impolite, but please suggest an app ONLY if you tested it yourself, otherwise this thread will be filled with suggestions like "Try Mixzing...", "Try PlayerPro..." I REALLY have tested MANY apps myself already, otherwise I wouldn't ask here!
Thanks!

I have a lot of music on my SD card and normally use Google Music (4.1.511) to play it. However, I noticed that a couple of albums I've added this week are not showing up in Music and no matter what I do, I can't make them show. Here's it what I've done so far:
Cleared cache and data in Google Music
Booted into recovery and cleared cache & dalvik
Checked file properties and permissions in Root Explorer
Played the tracks in Google Music by going into Root Explorer, long tapping and hitting Open (plays fine )
Confirmed the music doesn't show in stock ICS Music
Removed stock ICS Music
Uninstalled Google Music (also went into /system/app and deleted the APK)
Re-installed from APK
Fixed permissions and checked SD card in recovery
Checked that the files are correctly tagged and re-copied them from the computer
Probably other stuff I've lost track of
After all that, these new albums are still not showing up in Music. The rest of my collection is there, just not anything added recently, even though I can see these files in Root Explorer and play them in Music by long tapping --> Open. WTF???
Can anybody give me any ideas before I go insane? And please don't suggest other music players, I like Google Music and it has always worked well for me across different ROMs. There must be some fix to this.
Try an app that forces Android to rescan for media files.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk
Tried Rescan Media and still no dice. I backed up my ROM and flashed a different one and it showed them up within a couple of minutes of booting. Very, very odd.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but a lot of people seem to still have this issue. Here's what worked for me:
Some apps rely on the Media Storage service to list media files on the device, instead of enumerating files every time they are launched. In other words, Media Storage indexes the files on your device, then apps like Play Music query Media Storage to know which files to display.
For some reason, on my phone, it only indexed files if they were copied through USB. If I copied MP3s from a network share using ES Explorer, or from Team Viewer, they wouldn't show up in Play Music.
The solution was to clear Media Storage's data (Settings => Apps => All => Media Storage => Clear Data) then reboot the phone. This forces the service to reindex all content. Play Music will act as if there's no music at all on the device for a few minutes, then everything should show up.
I hope this can help someone

this was the same solution I stumbled upon.
The Solution to clear the media storage data and reboot works! Thank you so much.......
Is there a way for all music in Play Music to be automatically selected for offline listening?
What I want is a way to copy music files to my SD card automatically without plugging it into my computer. In my perfect world, when I get one new song (on my computer), I want it to just put it in the My Music folder (on my computer) and have it sync to a Music folder on my devices Ext SD card the next time my device has a data connection. After that, Play Music (or whatever media player I'm using) would just see it as a new file and import it into my Library. If I have to open an app or push a "sync" button that's fine, but I would prefer it be automatic.
Something like Google Drive would work great if I could just assign folders to sync rather than having a "Google Drive" folder and only syncing what is in there. And "cloud storage" is not completely necessary, just store it in the cloud long enough to sync to my other devices.
Google music already automatically imports music from My Music (on my PC), it would be perfect if it automatically made all that music available offline on my phone and tablet.
Is there any app or solution that would help me?
I am often in areas where there is no data connection, so the internet streaming that Play Music offers is not quite enough for me.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
I hook a USB drive to my S22 Ultra with the cable, go to
"my Files" open up the usb directory and I see all the audio files on the USB.
Here is my question..... I have the phone and my JBL flip 5 paired together. I pick a song from the usb drive, music plays just perfect but when the song is done, it doesn't advance to the next song on the list.
I have to click on each song individually.
Is there a setting that allows you to pick the first song and it will continue thru all the audio files automatically, like when I plug the same USB into our home stereo system?
I hope I explained this ok
Thanks for any help as this drives me crazy.
Use a music player app (or a different file manager app e.g. X-plore) to play the files instead of the default file manager app.
Poweramp for example, is an excellent player with a lot of settings and an ecualizer. You can play all the audio files in a folder, instead of creating playlists, and define if you want to start again, etc. But, I've never tested it playing from an external usb drive..
found File Manager + and it works perfect.
X-Plore worked as well but had too many pop up ads
Thank you for all the help
