Flashing stock global rom using XiaomiTool v2, Bootloader locked or unlocked? - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Questions & Answers

I'm currently on 11.1.2.0 EU ROM, and I want to switch to GLOBAL 11.1.3.0 ROM so I could update to MIUI 12
my question is; if I use XiaoMiTool v2 to flash Stock Global Rom, is it necessary to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER?

Yes, to flash any fastboot ROM you need to unlock the bootloader first.
My question is: it's possible to relock the bootloader without have a hard brick after move from EEA ROM to Global ROM? I have to it on MI 9T Pro but I don't know if you can in the MI Note 10.

sorry, i'm afraid i didnt understand what you meant here. anyways someone mentioned that if you come from EEA to GLOBAL, there's is no need to unlock bootloader... that's why im seeking advice, it doesn't seem right.

You need to relock the bootloader if you will to use Google pay our any other bank pay app without root the device.
Edited my other message due to the autocorrect has changed a unlock to relock and a relock to unlock... Read it again...

You can install miui 11 global and then update to miui 12 global.
I do this and it's working.

I did this yesterday without unlocking bootloader. When flashing, it will give you a weird percentage and I think it reboots twice. Have to be careful and not disconnect it before the process is finished.
It is working great.

You can flash from MIUI 11 EEA to MIUI 12 Global using XiaomiTool with the locked bootloader. Then you can lock the bootloader (fastboot oem unlock, a data wipe will be done after the upgrade and another one after the bootloader lock)
What you can't do is going back from Global to EEA (now also the EEA is updated to MIUI 12) without unlocking the bootloader.

Hello, i have Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S, with stable EU rom, can i migrate to stable MI rom without unlocking bootloader? The phone is with Mediatek cpu.

I'm here for this same exact reason (Redmi note 10S)
[EEA MIUI13 >>> Global MIUI 13] Do I need to unlock bootloader before flashing?
I'm in the EEA v13 and I want to move to Global v13 also, which receives updates way faster.
EEA updated to v13 and it's sooo broken gosh

If you have a global phone and add EEA rom, you can lock your bootloader no problems. Equally if you hvae a EEA phone and add a global rom you can also lock your bootloader no problem. This according to mi forum. If you hvae china phone and add global or EEA rom you CANNOT lock bootloader as you will brick your phone.
Oh thx

Hi,
I have successfully moved from the Original ROM (European) V12.0.3.0.QJBEUXM after unlocking the original bootloader to a New ROM (Indian) V12.0.3.0.QJBINXM on a Xiaomi Mi 10 (M2001J2G) and re-locked the bootloader without brick the phone.
This allow me to enable Dual SIM support which is fully functional now.

Hello,
Mi 10 has different ROM from the Mi 10 Pro. Mi 10 code name is umi and Mi 10 Pro is cmi.
First you have to check which region is your device, there is 2 major variant, China or Global, in Global we have today (Global, European, Russian, India and Indonesia). On Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, only the China and India has Dual SIM.
If you are looking to enable Dual SIM on Global version (Global, European, Russia or Indonesia), you have 2 possibilities (after unlocking the bootloader of course) :
Move to Chinese ROM - Bootloader re-lock impossible else you'll brick the phone.
Move to the excellent xiaomi.eu custom ROM - I don't have information if it is possible or not, if it will brick or not as it is based on Chinese ROM, but generally no need to re-lock as Safety net, DRM L1, ... are all working
I have also read that you can move from each Global version to another without the need to unlock the bootloader but I don't have further information on how it works, especially using Mi Flash.
Here is the official link to unlock the phone (Sorry as I am new user to the forum, I can't post links yet, just replace hxxps by https in the beginning of the links)
hxxps://en.miui.com/unlock/
Here is the official link to the Global ROMs
Recovery ROMs

Note that there is no Recovery Indian ROM for the Mi 10 Pro
Fasboot ROMs
hxxps://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
For the Mi 10 Pro fastboot ROM, there is only Global, European and India, no Russian nor Indonesian. Even if there is a link to the Indian Fastboot ROM but it is not working

Hello,
Indeed, there is no Indian Recovery ROM for the Mi 10 Pro even if the link to the Indian Fastboot ROM exists. (Below the link, just replace hxxtps by https)

I have a mi10 global with EEA Vodafone rom and I want to move to an unbranded rom. From what I've found I can unlock the bootloader and install the EEA unbranded rom or install the global rom without unlocking the bootloader. which are the differences between the EEA and global rom?

Mi cc9 china to global

Can i change mi cc9 china rom to mi 9 lite global rom with recovery rom update? (local device update package)
Or do i need to unlock bootloader for this and should only use fastboot?

Question Relock bootloader after flash rom from global to Indonesia

Hi all,
I have new POCO X4 Pro 5G GLOBAL version (MIUI 13.0.3.0.RKCMIXM), and want to flash to Indonesia ROM (MIUI 13.0.3.0.RKCIDXM).
My question is: Can I relock the bootloader after successful flash without causing brick to the phone or any problems?
If confirmed that it is possible, what are the best methods to relock the bootloader?
