Hi Everyone,
I'm happy to become a member of XPDA!
I've been learning to code for Android the last 6 months and feel like I'm ready to share something useful. It's an app called Recall that has mostly replaced a file explorer for me.
You can try the app here: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=im.recall.android
Here is how I describe it:
With Recall you'll find your files much faster than with your file explorer!
Recall is a search engine for your files. It indexes your files and let's you search not just by file name, but by content of your documents and images.
Recall understands text on the images, so it's very useful to search for:
- photos of some documents you took using a phone camera
- screenshots of your phone
- memes you saved for future use
- receipts
- and so much more...
Recall also has access to images downloaded by WhatsApp, Telegram and Viber, and so if you receive stuff there, it will be searchable too!
I'm happy to answer your questions! Please let me know if I should abandon the project or keep working on it
Thank you!
P.S. A short video demo of what I'm trying to solve is here: youtube.com/watch?v=_URELgkDDus

This may be a totally noob question but how can I make an app from a webpage? If I create an html page with a bunch of links to other pages and soundclips, how hard is it to turn that into an app. I have no experience creating android apps and I don't know the android code either. Can someone let me know if there is an easy way to create an app from the web page with the type of skills I have. (Very basic)
I do know html so theres no problem in the creation of the page. My only question is in the creation of the app. Thank you in advance for any help.
Can anyone help?
why bother? why not just give them the link to your webpage?
also - given the limited space of a typical android device, a full web page wouldn't translate well to an app.
to answer your original question, it is very easy to create an app that is just a pile html links and sounds.
thank you very much
Hello folks,
since all other threads concerning this topic are either outdated or are about trying to fix this problem by themselves I've decided to open a new one.
The problem mentioned above should be well known to almost any android user who uses Gmail to manage and sync their contacts.
Because Google ignored earlier requests I'm trying to spread this one single request as far as possible. If enough Gmail users read and star this thread Google has to react in any way.

Voted.
In fact i've added my support to many threads like this on the Google Forums over the last year, as have hundreds of other users. I find it utterly baffling how after all this time, Google still haven't addressed this issue.
If Google were to increase the contact picture size even by merely 10 pixels, they would need massive amount of additional server space.
I'm not saying it's not doable, just not as simple as we'd like to think.

Actually I thought of that point too, but I made a quick calculation.
I am able to get a decent picture quality (JPEG,256x256px,8bit,quality 65) at under 15kb per picture.
Now imagine you are having 1000 contacts, it would be around 15MB of data just for the pictures. And now take into consideration that any Gmail user already has over 7,6GB(!) of free storage. Would anybody miss 15 or even 50MB?
But all this has already been written in the request thread

Come on people, just 22 people within 1.5 days starred this issue. We need more than that!

We need to put some pressure on Google to fix the Low resolution contact images that are synced with using GMail.
Please +1 the following post: https://plus.google.com/109941711245...ts/PwRx3SHNbjR and try to get #AndroidLowResContactPics trending.

For info, the problem is now solved. Google fixed it.
I just updated my pictures contacts via the website (I guess it also work directly on the phone), and pics are now in correct resolutions!
Hey guys,
I'm really new to this app development and would like to ask one of you experienced developers a question.
Basically I have recently been creating mobile websites from a set of css files which are just a basic template. The template files have individual files for some of the most common pages that a small business would need, google map, contact us with form, menu, opening hours and so on.
What happens is you simply upload the company logo and such into the images folder, update the css style sheet for colours, then simply edit one of the relevant pages e.g place the food items in the menu page.
When the whole set of files gets uploaded it creates a personalised functional business mobile website.
What I would like to know is, would it be possible to set something like this up for an android app? Whereby the user could simply change the details as above and then compile the apk file which will create the app?
Your input is much appreciated, also have any of you got any idea where I could get someone to code something like this?
Regards,
Stephen
I am willing to donate $100 to whoever answers my questions. I have been looking for an answer for almost 2 weeks now but no success..I hope you guys can help me out!
Let us say there is a game I play called xxx and in this game you have to upgrade buildings and do researches if you want to advance. Now my questions are:
1-When you upgrade the buildings to a certain level, they change their look.I have looked into the res folder of the apk but couldnt find any pictures of the buildings..Where are the pictures stored?
2-There are a lot of researches to do and each level of research requires a certain amount of resources. Now where in the apk can I find information regarding this ( the amount of resources, time etc of each research)?
3-I found alot of pkm files in the apk.I tried to open them with Notepad++ but all I see is symbols..Could this mean the file is encrypted?.If so, how can I decrypt it?
I know it is too much, sorry
Thank you for your time!
No need to create multiple threads. And see my comments here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/off-topic/help-donate-t3449036

Hi everyone
Just a quick post i would like to make to assist anyone struggling with getting their QuickMemo notes to a new non LG Phone.
I know I have struggled and searched countless forums and pages, but could not really find an easy working method, especially for doing it as a batch
After a while of searching i managed to stumble upon this gem of an app, which basically converts LQM (QuickMemo note format) to text files.
Below is a the link and video tutorial

I think this guy deserves a donation for this incredible app.
Hope everyone with the same issue, can benefit from this.
Peace
Thanks for the shout out! Hope many people can benefit from my app.
it works for the *.lqm files, thank You.
Sadly, it doesn't work with older Quickmemo-files, who have no extension. Even if I add a .lqm at the end, they're not decoded-recognized.
Any way to fix that ? Thanks.
