Are you looking for a full wipe of internal storage as well?
Factory reset then yes, factory reset in TWRP. Flash your latest OOS or current OOS. Flash TWRP installer & Magisk... reboot into recovery do the same

Thanks seems better. One more question. Can I in TWRP flash soft on slot A then switch to slot B and again flash soft?

After first flash of OOS ,TWRP & magisk reboot into recovery that will move you to the new slot to flash the same process . Both slots will have the OOS , TWRP & Magisk .

Boots to OS but immediately shuts down and reboots to recovery

I was on 5.1.8 and updated to 5.1.9 but for some reason the phone boots, goes to the OS but immediately shows the shutting down dialog box and reboots the phone to recovery.
I tried reinstalling 5.1.9 with and without root but have the same result. I have tried with and without permanent twrp. The only thing I haven't tried is a factory reset as I am abroad and cannot afford to lose all my info (especially whatsapp as I won't be able to set it back up until 2 weeks when I return home).
Has anyone encountered anything like this or know how to fix it?

If MTP supported by your TWRP then copy the data? If TWRP is still there.

MTP doesn't work but adb works. I have reinstalled 5.1.9 after doing a full wipe and still the phone reboots to recovery after trying to boot normally.
Can anyone help me please :crying::crying::crying::crying:

Just dirty flash 5.1.8 system update in TWRP, reflash TWRP, reboot recovery, flash magisk. You shouldn't have to wipe data if there were no problems in previous OS and forcing a shutdown shouldn't be due to data anyway. You could also try to dirty flash 5.1.9 again with those steps. Has to be the full ROM.

I'm travelling and the hotel wifi is super slow. I have the full 5.1.9 and I've tried dirty flashing and clean flashing (I did a nandroid backup first). With a dirty flash the phone boots to the lockscreen but immediately says shutting down and reboots, after the reboot it goes to recovery (stock or twrp whichever is installed). After a clean flash it seems to try to boot then just shuts off and reboots to whichever recovery is installed.
I've set 5.1.8 to download which will take HOURS so I'll report back with any update. I pray this fixes it...

In thw worst case, since ADB works, you can backup your entire internal storage to your computer and factory reset. Use adb-sync for this.

5.1.8 should be flashed again over current 5.1.8?
Why not just tell twrp to switch back to other slot with working oos. I am missing something that this was not tried yet?

I tried changing slots in twrp. Slot A boots to lockscreen then powers off and boots to recovery. Slot B doesn't boot at all and just shows a light blue notification LED.

I meant take backup through ADB, format everything including data, internal storage, then fastboot flash full ROM zip.
I am having the same exact issue.
Can't restore a nandroid backup. All I get is light blue notification LED. I tried 5.1.8 and 5.1.9. With TWRP right after and without it. Without even magisk. It just bootloops forever. If I install 5.1.9/5.1.8 full zips, twrp, reboot recovery, magisk. It just reboots into twrp. I can't even install any of the full ota zips. It wont get past the android boot animation when I just want to flash the ota zip only. Can't get out of twrp. Luckily I was able to backup everything, but don't know how to proceed further allowing me to regain usage of my phone.
To me, this is sounding like something did not flash right with vendor partition.
if a full wipe of System, data, internal storage, the whole 9 yards doesn't work. The only option I see that should work is the mega unbrick thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3796051

Funny, I was about post that link but i see you found it first. It is also good that it fixed it for you.
As far as TWRP backups, you only need to backup data. You can just install the full ROM zip file and restore data to get everything back if you have issues with nandroid restore. Just don't forget to flash TWRP before rebooting or you will need to fastboot it again.
Maybe an issue with battery calibration. Try checking the battery when the phone just boots. If it says low battery and because of that its shutting down then its just a software error and just try to turn in the phone with charger connected to check if tgats the problem. If that dosent work try the oneplus 6 mega unbrick guide and return to stock oos 5.1.5 using snapdragon msm recovery tool. For detailed info see tge OP6 unbrick guide on xda. Tell me if it works

One question, when you manually change to slot B, you're in a black screen with blue notification LED right? If that doesn't even go fastboot, how do you get out of that slot into the other one again to the boot-recovery loop?

Bootloop after magisk module installation

so i have a bln-l22 on rr 8.1 and magisk and wanted to install pix3lify so i installed it and got stuck in a bootloop so i booted into twrp and tried to flash the magisk manger for twrp and doesn't work then tried the SUmount and it didn't work too so i tried the uninstaller from the original magisk thread didn't work too so i tried using a touch command to create ".disable_magisk" in /cache and that didn't work too, so please i really need help here. and thanks
If you've already tried latest uninstaller and system still can't boot, I'd say that you'll need to factory reset it. If things won't fix either this way even if I don't think so, probably reflashing stock EMUI 8.0 ROM to fix boot.img and other affected partitions (if there are) and then reflashing RR would be another solution.
Just use Hurupdater to restore firmware. It will wipe all your user data and requires you to have TWRP recovery

hey can u help me with a guide to to go back to EMUI 8 from RR please ?
The fastest way if you have TWRP (i guess so since that you're rooted) is to rely on HuRUpdater, as the user Mannan Qamar said above.
And if you want instructions I am more than happy to help.

Since you already flashed once I am sure you don't have TWRP recovery anymore. And that you are on EMUI 8 India. So first Order of business is to flash TWRP. While the device is bootlooping plug device into PC and hold Power and Volume Down button. As soon as screen turns off release Power Button but keep holding Volume Down. Your device should boot into bootloader. Flash TWRP recovery from Elemental ROM thread.
Now download Hurupdater 0.4.zip from thread and the firmware for your model. Rename the firmware files as suggested in Hurupdater thread and place them all in the same folder on your SD card.
Now boot into TWRP with Power & Volume Up. Go to Wipe & Format Data. -> YES.
Now go-to Wipe-> Advanced Wipe-> Select:
Dalvik/Art Cache
Cache
Internal
System
Data.
And swipe to Wipe. Only mark these and nothing else. Now go to install, select SD card and navigate to the folder in which all the Zips are present and then select only Hurupdater to flash. Now pressbVolume Down when it prompts. Flashing will take around 10 mins. Be patient. You will also get error of no recovery.img and some other. They're normal.
After flash complete wipe Cache/Dalvik and then reboot system now. In the warning screen, press Volume Up to boot into erecovery and Perform Factory reset. Then format Cache and reboot system now. First boot will take around 10+min. Don't panic. Luck

Fresh install from scratch - 9.0.3

Dear friends:
I have Op6 with 9.0.3 + unlocked + Magisk + xXx rom last version.
I feel its time backup my data and re-install a clean rom. On old days i woul go TWRP, erase system and data, and reinstall rom.
With OP6 i just freeze to think that i can brick this "lady".....
Question:
How to clean my phone and reinstall 9.0.3, step by step for newbie, preference using TWRP Blue?
I feel many users also want to do it.
Appreciate it.
Maybe i didnt make myself clear:
How to re-install 9.0.3, like it was when i buy the phone?
msm tool
Thanks for the reply.
As far i know thats for recovery brick telephone...
Can´t i use options on TWRP for the same?
Use the fastboot 9.0.3 method via command prompt/powershell. If you want stock recovery do nothing further. This will wipe the entire device.
If you want root, then flash bluspark TWRP recovery img from ADB. From there, reboot to that img of twrp, flash actual bluspark twrp recovery zip and reboot into recovery. From there, flash Magisk if you want root, or any other roms/kernels, etc.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6-t3796665
You could flash Blu_Spark TWRP, flash the 9.0.3 full ROM via this, an then Format Data. This will totally wipe the phone and remove enrcryption, so it won't bother you with the downgrade.
This is the more effective way ! At least, faster than fastboot.
Edit : Oh, you're already on 9.0.3 ! In this case just do as you said in the OP, Blu_Spark TWRP, flash the full 9.0.3 zip, Factory Reset. No need to wipe System though.
If you want it to be very clean, do it twice to fill both slots. Don't forget to reflash TWRP after the ROM though, or it will erase it in favor of the OnePlus recovery, and you won't be able to flash it a second time.
If you want it to be very very very clean, like "out of the box" clean, you can still Format Data after those two flashs (Not before, or your zips will be deleted before you used them and you'll cry a little).
Ah....that what i want ear....
Merci beaucoup pour láide..

Oneplus 7 Pro can install updates anymore

Hello xda-comunity
I'm unable to install the oxygenos update 9.5.8 GM21BA
So I was following this guide to unlock my bootloader and root my phone with magisk.
All went well. I got the notification that there is a new update (see above)
In the guide there was a step - by - step instruction on how to update the phone and keep root. I did that.
And now when try to install the update I get a bootloop into recovery. I figured out that the op7pro is a 2 slot phone ( slot a, slot b) and when I install a update it sets the for example slot b (where the update is installed) as default.
So when something goes wrong it just loads up the "previous" slot (in this example slot a) as default again and says that the update failed to install. Correct me if I'm wrong .
And now to the my problem, the phone doesn't load on slot b nor does it default back to slot a, instead I get a recovery bootloop when I'm in slot b.
The fix here is to flash twrp via fastboot and load slot a again, my phone then boots up like normal.
And here is the problem I can't install the update because I probably messed up slot b.
I know it's a long post and I appreciate every possible answer. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I worded that oddly.
If you want to keep it stock then:
Wipe Data (Optional but recommended), Dalvik.
Flash the OTA, TWRP Installer.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash the OTA, TWRP Installer again.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash Magisk and/or kernels (Step is optional)

If youre installing a custom ROM like Havoc then:
Wipe Data, Dalvik.
Flash the OTA, ROM then TWRP Installer.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash the ROM, TWRP Installer again.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash GApps and Magisk (Step is optional)
Reboot system

You can drag the files back into the root of your phone and flash them on the other slot. You could ADB fastboot but just dragging the zips to your phone is easier in my opinion.

Yes you flash on both slots. If youve already flashed both then flash magisk and reboot to system. It should take about 10min to boot so dont worry.
Edit: If youre getting a bootloop or having bugs then follow this https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-f to get back to stock international
