How do I restore the backup from Google? (without losing new messages) - Android Apps and Games

When I reinstalled WhatsApp it did not restore the backup. The reason was probably that I initially denied WhatsApp access to contacts. Now finally I did give WhatsApp access to contacts, and my backup about one gigabyte in size shows up in the settings. The backup is only in Google. Before wiping the phone, I checked if there is a way to create a local backup of WhatsApp, but I didn't find it anymore.
How do I restore the backup without losing new messages?
PS: I used the WhatsApp contact function to send them a message, but the message bounced:
Code:
[email protected]
host smtpin.vvv.facebook.com [2a03:2880:ff:fffd:face:b00c:0:686e]

[Q] Where are internal SMS messages stored on the HTC EVO?

RE: [Q] Where are internal SMS messages stored on the HTC EVO?
ALSO, are the messages stored in a sequential file or database? IF SO, is there a way to access this file (or database) to copy or repair the existing structure?
I currently have Android 2.1 installed and it appears the SMS messages (or database) has some type of corruption which prohibits SMS BACKUP & RESTORE, or MY BACKUP or LOOKOUT or TITANIUM BACKUP from saving all my sms messages.
The developer of SMS BACKUP & RESTORE reviewed my LOG COLLECTOR file and said there is some corruption which is causing a DISK I/O error, and therefore I cannot save my messages.
ANY SUGGESTIONS on how to:
..(1) save my sms messages,
..(2) repair the potential sms corruption,
..(3) use TITANIUM BACKUP to ATTEMPT a restore of only sms/mms messages?
THANKS IN ADVANCE,
/Mark

Not sure if you're willing but if you port your number to Google Voice all your text messages are in the cloud and will sync for every device you install GV on.

dont i have to cancel my contract for that
I use SMS Backup+ and it does backup text messages done through hangouts but I cannot restore texts to hangouts from these backups.
I have read that SMS Backup and Restore does work on KitKat and our N5s but there may be a hoop or two you have to jump through.
I need to find a good auto backup and ability to restore my texts, I miss that from my previous Android phones.

Downloaded SMS Backup and restore. Downloaded the back up from my google drive . Restored the messages and a message appeared that i will have to set the default app to SMS Backup and Restore . Did that and then made Hangout the default app. all the restored messages appeared in hangout.
After this you can install any of the SMS apps from the play store like Go SMS Pro , Textra etc etc . Once this is done, Go to the settings of Hangout and uncheck the option of Hangout as the SMS app . All your text messages will now appear in the new SMS app you have downloaded from the play store.

Oh, sorry, I totally forgot that some people are still on contracts. But once your contract is up in the future that would be a viable solution.
Assuming you're on Sprint with that contract you can also integrate your Sprint number with Google Voice which will have the exact reversible effect as permanently porting it.
Besides some backup and restore solutions that some other guys left above there really isn't anything that will sync your text messages.

Any app out there to backup notification messages?

In my phone, messages like offers/reminders from various organizations are clubbed together as "Notifications" under the "Messaging" app. All other messages (SMS/text) sent by actual people are directly under "Messaging" app.
All SMS/text message backup apps that I have tried, do not consider/detect the "Notification" messages as SMS/text. So these messages are never backup up.
Is there any app that does so?
Ok. Titanuim backup seems to recognize them as MMS.
It is backed up by Titanium in the binary files mmssms.db and mmssms.db-journal
How do I back them up in Gmail as individual messages under a folder?

Does (Google) Messages really delete SMSs ?

I use the app SMS Backup And Restore to backup & restore SMSs.
However when I do a restore I find that even SMSs that I had deleted before making the backup are restored.
I contacted the developer (who by the way replied very promptly) and was told that perhaps the app I use to view/delete SMSs did not really delete the SMSs but was maybe just putting a deleted marker/flag on the SMSs.
I use (Google) Messages to view/delete SMSs.
Can someone shed some light on this. I don't think I'm the only one having this problem.
Is there a way to permanently delete SMSs?
Edit : I have a Moto X Style with Android N

WhatsApp app

Withdrawing my number from the telecom company to another person, will they be able to see my previous WhatsApp messages?
No. Even you will not be able to see past messages if you change the phone and install Whatsapp with the same number unless you backup beforehand and restore the backed-up messages on opening Whatsapp. The back-up is stored on your phone and your cloud account and is not accessible to others.
