Has anyone found a solution (apart from the FCC media buttons remapping) to use steering wheel keys with poweramp while using Sygic? Since Sygic version 18.4.2 steering wheel keys no longer work with poweramp (or any other player which is identifying bluetooth or headset keys?) while sygic is running on full screen.
I was able to fix this using Automate, at least for Spotify.
I created a "Key Pressed" item listening to "Media Next", then a "Is foreground app" item listening for Sygic, and a "Audio player control" item with command "Next" for Spotify.
The "is foreground app" item is kinda of unecessary as it works without it as well, both with Sygic running or not, but it think its worthy to prevent any double events or weird behaviour when Sygic isn't running.
On my dasaita px5 unit i had the same problem with sygic and poweramp. Next and Previous track not working. The same problem was reproducible on my tablet using a media keyboard. No response to media keys. Initially started out with automate but due to recent update of sygic i have been browseing through its settings; settings->bluetooth->play via bluetooth to On. This solved the problem for me. Some experimental function according to sygic. Before changing this setting i also noticed a drop in volume when PA was playing and Sygic was started. After changing this setting, no volume drop and expected response to media keys. Applied same change to the car unit and voila...all seems to work well now. No Tasker or Automate needed (but it was a nice opertunity to try automate)

Hello,
I am new to the Android world and attempted something yesterday I thought should work. I was using Google Music to playback MP3s and tried running Google Navigation. Whenever, I started Navigation, MP3 playback stopped. If I started Navigation, and then hit the home button to start MP3 playback, Navigation stopped.
Is this not possible? Should I being different apps for Navigation/MP3 playback which would allow this? Are there settings I am missing?
Thanks.
Well, here it works flawless... tried with 2.3.4 version and the new one 3.0...
But, it's kinda weird controlling volume, inside navigation, I can only set navigation volume. If I want to set music volume I need to switch to music app or launcher...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Thanks for the response - I tried it again and I figured out what I was doing incorrectly. I was using "Car Mode" and if you hit the Navigation button after Navigation is already running, it restarts the Navigation. You have to do a fancy swipe from the top bar to get to an app that is already running.
This leads me to my next question, in "Car Mode" is there a way to get to an app that is already running without a swipe from the top bar? I thought the whole point of "Car Mode" was that the buttons were big and you didnt need to be very accurate?
Thanks.
The newest versions of Google Maps and Navigation have combined the Navigation volume with the Media Volume. I've read that by rolling back the version of the app to somewhere around 5.7 - 5.8, you can get your separate Nav and Media volume back, however I'd like to keep the latest version. Is there an app somewhere that allows for control of individual application volumes (similar to the newer versions of Windows' volume mixer)? I'd like to be able to separate the voice and media again.
Thanks,
Dan

Or get the Pro version.
I use this app to keep the damned speaker phone volume being linked the call volume.

Close but no cigar. This app only allows volume control of existing system functions like media, notifications, ringer, etc. Since the latest versions of Google Maps cram voice navigation and media (music, etc) into the same category, I can't control them independently.
A little back story:
I have a new motorcycle helmet with bluetooth capability. I need to be able to hear the navigation over my music. I'd turn music off and JUST have navigation, BUT... there is a delay between the navigation speaking and the bluetooth realizing it and switching back on from an idle/sleep mode, resulting in me missing directions.
What I want is for pandora to play sweet and soft tunes into my earholes while I'm riding, and for me to be able to crank the navigation volume WAY THE HELL UP so I can hear it. With the audio constantly playing through it I won't have the bluetooth wake-from-rest problem that I have using navigation alone.

It's been awhile, so I don't know if my memory serve me right. But there is a hidden menu for the audio settings for the Charge. If you do a search for the code, once you in, you can set the volume for navigation and media volume to balance out. There should be a threads in this forum for the recommended settings. Good luck.

The hidden menu option looks like it works (I can still do test mode, screen debugging, etc) but the dialer code for the audio menu no longer works (I'm on FP1, stock debloated).
Back to square one.
I'd rather have the app I'm looking for than try to hack the audio settings.
Well, I have finally found someone with EXACTLY similar problem!
I also ride a motorcycle and also listen to the music while riding and ALSO use Google Navigation!! Long ago there were good days when some version of GMaps/Navigation had a separate volume control but now it's gone.
It is impossible to hear anything with the music playing. I have tried several workarounds - one of them is to use PowerAmp and to force it to pause music every time any "other" sound plays. It didn't work. Or, well, technically it did, but the difference in volume levels between the music and navigation was so high, that I couldn't hear a thing.
I see a lot of people posting thingies like Super-Beats, Super-Duper-Beats, Super-Duper-Awesome-Beats, claiming that this is some sort of "audio driver" that is getting installed "on the system level" so that the sound is better/louder/deeper/crispier. I guess what we need is a similar solution, that would just add more "audio channels" - a separate one for Navigation, probably for smth else.
Is it at all doable?
Cheers'n'thanks!
PS: I am on Samsung Galaxy Nexus, JB AOKP b4

I have found that while I'm listening to my music via the Music Play app, the song volume mutes while making the notification sound (the music does not pause though).
see if that helps.
There is a feature or option that I truly miss from an earlier version of android. The ability to have a separate volume for "Navigation" and "Media/Music" Is there anything out there that would allow that function back? I use Google Maps/Navigation and mostly Player Pro or Pandora for music and MX player for videos. My HTC Thunderbolt is running a BAMF rom with Android version 2.3.4
I would be open to a different rom as long as it does not drop below the 2.3.4 mark.
Does anyone know of anything that would bring back the separate Navigation Volume?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
There will be a greater chance of getting an answer, if the title reflected your question...
There's an app called "Volume Control +" by Team Coffeebreak soft. Check that one out...
I currently have that installed but unfortunately it does not have the separate volume controls.
What about trying to use an app like tasker or Llama to create an event that every time any specific app launches the volume sets to a specific level.
Eg.
As I start the car and my phone connects to BT audio, the volume sets to max and Google play music app launches and when I get it out the car the volume returns to normal and the music app gets killed, all events are done instantly after BT connects/disconnects.
Good idea but my ultimate goal is something a little different. While driving I enjoy listening to my music at a relatively low volume. When the music is at a volume that is enjoyable I would like to have the navigation voice louder. It might help wake me up a bit so I don't miss a turn.
a very valid reason. they should implement individual app volume controls. Unfortunately, that would fall on the hands of the developer.
ok i am posting this here in a sepperate thread
Issue: when using poweramp... and then pausing it... then opening Radio or Video application.. radio/video screen appears for a second then closes, in this second (from what i can understand) a multimedia button press (play/pause) is sent to poweramp by the radio/video application.. automatically
this is very strange. it seems that radio/video app is trying to pause poweramp by sending a multimedia button press, which actually creates a problem, as opening the radio app is impossible!!! as the radio senses poweramp is open and it closes..
disabling poweramp "headset multimedia buttons" solves the problem.. but then we lose the steering wheel controls for poweramp.
has anyone noticed the issue?
This happens on malaysk's rom
Just reinstalled everything and I can confirm these there is a comparability issue between Poweramp and radio/video app. This exists in all roms that exist for PX5.
Even factory roms

I've noticed a similar problem with TomTom Go.
When I use the TomTom and try to open the Radio or AVIn, the AVIn or Radio screen appears for a second but it closes immediately.
In the background, however, I hear the audio of the AVIn or Radio but there is no video.
As you said you must be a problem with these apps ........
I cannot believe no one has noticed..
By the way strangely TomTom runs fine here
I have the same issue ... I noticed it just after sleep. Once headunit wakes up if I press radio it closes ...but after that everything is normal...expect sometimes I lose the song ot was playing in Poweramp and it goes to the first aong again
I have car launcher pro installed which have a small Poweramp widget included

yes the behaviour you say is correct..
the "video app" is worse.. it will not open..
try it..
i have a feeling this has something to do with canbus as i can not explain why not many people have noticed it until now

I don't have canbus box and I have same problem; but if I play music (poweramp or rocketplayer) from widget (without open app), this problem is solved
A workaround in Rocket Player is to activate the "ignore otber apps" option in "audio focus" settings. Anyway if you do that and turn on radio while listening to Rochet Player you will hear both.
Anyone found a solution?
hmmmm i have same issues.....
I am using malaysk rom with FCC launcher (also have AG launcher), when i try to switch from media source often the new source is opened and closed again and i cannot get the new media source started (from a widget),
Had no idea this was a universal problem and more people had simular problems.
Issue I'm having with Poweramp is that when I make a call using google app the music pauses as it should but as soon as phone starts ringing the music starts playing again and I cant turn sound down as doing that also turns down phone speaker,
I like using this app because it can be set to scan usb only for music , does anyone know of another app that does the same
Poweramp settings-->audio-->advanced tweaks-> uncheck direct volume control

That sorted it, I'm glad because I use it with car launcher pro and this is the only combination that seems to not lose the usb stick I have my music on , everything just works as it should
Still no fix for the original problem of this post? It's annoying to say the least when I have to disable the buttons on the steering wheel before I can use video app.
nope still no sollution i am afraid.. I don't know whether Oreo roms sorted that out
I guess everybody here has the problem with poweramp and the bluetooth music connection, right?
As soon as I switch to Bluetooth Music control, it starts poweramp
I am having the same original issue too. Either with some online radios apps or DI.FM for example. Quite annoying, I had to uninstall DI.FM because when pressing play it would launch and play PowerAmp...
I couldn't find anything that would solve it with CANBUS or any other settings.
Hello there. have a nice day. In my car listening to music with poweramp does not turn off during the phone call with bluetooth. So the music doesn't stop. I have activated the bluetooth option but still continue. I use in the car radio, dasaita px3 and 7.1.2 Android version. v2.99 mcu version
Earlier it was possibIe, but now I cant skip tracks in Spotify with my steering wheel control or buttons on radio, when I use sygic navigation app. If I go out of Sygic I can skip tracks again and in other apps it is also possibIe.
Do someone know how I can find a solution for this? I think somehow the sygic app is overlaying other apps so this causes the problem.
In realls old versions of Sygic it was also possibIe fyi.
