RJ45 USB Ethernet adapter issue - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I want to use a wired Ethernet link with my Mi Note 10 to access to my home lan.
I bought this apparently compatible adapter model UGREEN:
"ww.ugreen.com/collections/usb-ethernet-adapter/products/usb-c-to-gigabit-rj45-ethernet-adapter"
It not works.
My phone:
Model : Mi note 10 pro
MIUI Ver. : MIUI Global 11.1.1 Stable 11.1.1.0(QFDEUXM)
Android Ver. : 10 QKQ1.190825.002
Symptoms:
After disabling Wifi and mobile data and connecting my adapter to an operational network link, no ethernet access. The adapter leds stay on steady (so no traffic). No IP address assigned by my DHCP router so not seen from the network.
Tests :
The adapter works well on Windows 10.
I tested several otherwise functional trunks and even two different DHCP routers.
The “USB OTG Checker” android application detects the adapter.
I obviously activate / deactivate various parameters, restart, activate debugging mode: nothing helps.
It looks like the Android "Wired Ethernet" service is disabled.
Questions to the community:
Does the mi note 10 pro support this feature? (I read somewhere that Xiaomi has now disabled this option. Is that true?)
Is there an Android 10 MIUI 11 security to disable or a setting to change?
Does anyone have this same problem with this model of phone? Does this work somewhere with another adapter?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards

[Q] Allwinner a10 tv box - adding ethernet

After being struck by lightning, both the wireless and wired connections on my Allwinner a10 tv box stopped working! Tried different cables and ports on the router, but it is definitely the tvbox (it just says "disconnected"). Wireless will not find any networks.
It has full USB ports, would a USB to ethernet adapter work? Will Android accept another ethernet adapter?
In case anyone else ever wonders: it works!
It was added as eth1 (the non-functioning one is still listed as eth0). On 2 of the 5 android versions/firmwares I tried you could simply select eth1 as the adapter to use in network settings.

Cellular Dongle (3g, 4g LTE) on MTCD?

Hello,
I have a Joying 5.1.1 HU with RK chip which has absolutely horrible Wi-Fi connection. I recently got a freedompop account (Sprint's network) which gave me a wifi hotspot.
I plan on taking the sim card from the wifi hotspot and putting it into a LTE USB dongle (either Franklin U770 or Netgear 341U for Sprint bands).
1. Is it as simple as plugging in the dongle to one of the USB ports on the back of the Headunit?
2. Is there possible compatibility issues between brands of dongles?
Thanks.
Better to buy the dongle at Joying website, to avoid compatibility issues...

1. Yes, if your USB 3G/LTE dongle has already pre-configured (also, not PIN enabled), mine works this way.
2. Yes, you may refer to some of the threads/posts here or in MTCB forums for the list of compatible dongles. I have 2 3G dongles on hand but only one worked.
Also, mine has "USB3 is not mounted" issue quite frequently since I started having the dongle plugged in. I have tried to switch between the 2 ports given and also flashed a few ROMs, to no avail, same thing happened. Not enough power maybe? Still looking for an easy fix. Maybe a seperate Mifi could work or I stop playing music from USB instead.
Erisin (LM) MTCD unit. This works for me:
1. Huawei E220: disadvantage is that it needs two USB slots, one for additional power, else won't work properly
2. Huawei E367: not recommended, because it's dual-mode (includes USB storage mode). By default it's in USB storage mode, to make it work I have to use PPP3 Widget after root.
To answer both your questions:
- yes, compatibility issues can occur, check MTCD thread on pda4, there is a list of tested modems. Other than that, you need "Mobile Network Settings" apk, if you don't see the menu in settings, so you can configure the APN.
Hi. i would like to know if there are any compatible 4G dongles ... ?
This may be useful to you - I currently have issues with using a WiFi dongle on my XTRONS GS MTCD.
The head unit boots in about 1s from standby, but the WiFi dongle (XTRONS 3gdong008) takes about 20-30s to boot.
If I want to get nav / streaming music running, I have to sit there for ages while it turns on and connects.
Very annoying - I've gone back to using my mobile as a hotspot for now.
I'm considering adding a permanently live USB port and leaving the WiFi dongle always running, although I'm not sure if this is going to drain the car battery while parked overnight.

Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70F with Carlinkit Carplay dongle--problem

My Lenovo Tab 2 (6.0 Marshmellow stock, unlocked, not rooted) refuses to work with my latest acquisition (Carlinkit Carplay dongle from Aliexpress). The wired plus wireless dongle works on any android above 4.0 and I've tested it on phones from Android 5 to 7 without a problem.
However with my Tab 2 (which I was going to install in my car as a handsfree and navigation unit paired with my phone), it simply refuses. One has to install an app called Autokit (address on vendor's page in Aliexpress) on Android device. When I connect my phone via wireless, it attempts many times and either fails and starts all over, or the screen goes blank (with phone saying it's in carplay mode), or gives warning "The navigation machine [i.e. my tablet] does not support current settings. Please disconnect your phone and enter the Settings page to enter compatible mode."
In settings page I have three "working modes"--speed, fluency and compatible. I understand them to be resolutions: full HD, HD and lesser (VGA?). I get this message on both speed and fluency. In compatible mode, I briefly see the screen loading before it hangs and disconnects.
If I attach phone with dongle with a cable, the app does not react at all and still goes on wifi and blueooth looking for a device.
However in other phones I've tested on, I've had no problem with either of the three modes, or cable phone-to-dongle connect.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to upgrade/ change settings on Lenovo Tab 2 to accept my dongle or is it a lost cause?
2. I understand the dongle has its own wifi and bluetooth, and doesn't rely on cable. Therefore, it must be some USB protocol in the tab which is causing difficulties (as dongle works fine on other phones). Is this logical?
3. If so, there ought to be a better way than disposing my trusty Tab 2 and shopping for a used tab which will accept my dongle?
Thanks.

Windows RNDIS driver for Android?

So I ran into this problem recently after I installed an Android headunit into my car. The device can only receive internet one of two ways. Either I use my hotspot on my phone and connect to my phone's internet to allow my cars headunit to play music OR I use a 4G LTE USB dongle and attach it to my headunit directly. The problem with the second option is the following. When I plug the 4g LTE dongle into the USB port of the Android headunit, the device is not recognized. I know the device works because I've plugged it into my laptop and received internet no problem. I'm assuming this is because this particular USB dongle only operates using windows RNDIS driver. Since it seems there are very few products on the market (4g LTE USb sim dongles), the best solution I can come up with is maybe compiling an RNDIS driver for Android? The current dongle I have is the third one Ive purchased, the first two didn't work at all with my GSM sim. One was just faulty and the other for European Frequencies. I'm wondering if compiling a RNDIS driver for Android would even work in this case so that my car headunit can recognize and receive internet from the 4g LTE USB dongle.? Or if anyone knows of a dongle that works with gsm sims and works fine with android?
