Hello guys.
I would like to ask you if you could recommend me latest pie firmware without any GPS issues, please. With 47.2.A.10.107 I am experiencing GPS lock issue - before I go to car I have to clear cache, use GPS Status Toolbox and all other things to make GPS working. Anyway, it works then but just for 30-60 minutes, then it is back at nonworking status.
I am on stock 47.2.A.10.107 G8142, nonrooted. Thank you very much.
Here is what I did:
- go to Power-saving exceptions (Settings - Battery - 3 dot menu - Power-saving exceptions)
- in "System" check box for "Location Service" and "LocationServices"
- in "Apps" check box for GPS apps you use (Waze, Sygic etc.)
- enable "Developer options" and enable "Force full GNSS measurements"
- in "Location" enable "Improve Location Accuracy" in "Google Location Accuracy"
- some users mentioned their GPS signal reception got better after force closing Google maps and clearing its cache (I don't do it tho)
I am on 47.2.A.10.107 CE1, check my GPS accuracy.

I found that removing Google Maps has made battery life much much better but am sad that I don't have the app for when I actually want to use it. Is there any way to force the service to never run unless I have the app open?
The app doesn't use a noticeable amount of battery life for me.
Do you have GPS enabled in "Location" settings ? Also, go to Map app's settings and uncheck "report from this device" under it's "Location settings". See if that helps. I keep the network and wifi location reporting on, it doesn't seem to use much/any battery for me. I only turn GPS on when I am actually using it as such (like when I used the Navigation today).

I have turned off all location settings. For some reason it still sucks a massive amount of my battery. With maps installed my battery dies in 6 hours with very little usage. The last two days without it I've managed to make it 13 hours and still be at 50% by the time I plug it in at home. It took a ton of narrowing down the problem but maps is definitely it.
I'm running AOKP on my Galaxy S3 with the latest 4.1.2 gapps installed. Not sure if the rom would have anything to do with the way maps operates though.
Edit: I also have GPS turned off at all times until the app is running (tasker turns it on when I open certain apps).
Anyone finding success with Tasker getting GPS control working on their Nexus 5 (Android 4.4)?
Tasker v4.1
Rooted
Secure Settings Pro/Helper
Example:
Profile>Application "GoogleMaps">New Task ("GPS On")>Plugin>SecureSettings>Edit>HelperActions>GPS>On>Save
ExitTask same as above but GPS>Off
When I launch GoogleMaps I can see Tasker working, but from within Tasker I see an error: "An error occurred while executing Action:GPS"
Any suggestions? Related to "Location Mode" setting approach with "High Accuracy", "Battery Saving", "Device Only" options?
Thanks!
I solved this problem using Helper Alternative in Secure Settings (last option of Helper tab in Secure Settings)
Now with "gps on" action you switch from battery saving mode to high accuracy, and vice versa vith "gps off".
You can also use the action to enable/disable the entire location service but in that case every time you want it on it shows an annoying google location consent disclaimer

Where is the option for battery saving mode or high accuaricy? I set it up only for Location services and the google location consent appear.
Also, is it possible to set it off in another way? because if I click in Tasks button in my phone, it suddenly turns gps off although Maps keeps running in the background

you can switch between battery saving mode and high accuracy toggling the gps option:
gps on -> high accuracy
gps off -> battery saving mode

I use a workaround, I have set tasker to wait 20 seconds before disabling gps when i close apps that need location services, so when I switch to another app it doesn't turn off gps immediatly. I don't know other methods to make tasker consider that the app is running in the background

How do you set tasked to time out after certain time? I keep trying but it just stays on high accuracy

no, you add an action, just hit the plus button>task>wait and set the amount of time you desire
GPS or locational services turning on solution
I created this tasker for if my phone got lost, but could be used for the Google Maps apps or Photo geotagging. This is for phones that are locked and require the google consent notice to be accepted.
Profile: recieved text "lostphone"
Task:
Secure settings: pattern lock disabled
Secure settings: wake phone
WIFI on
Mobile Data on
Secure settings: Location Services Enabled
Wait: 2 seconds
Dpad: Right repeat x2 (this is because the first time it doesn't work)
Dpad: Press repeat x1
Wait: 2 seconds
Secure settings: Pattern lock enabled
Secure settings: lock device
this makes the phone vulnerable but it only takes seconds for the phone to relock itself

Hi,
I just installed tasker app on my Galaxy S7 Edge.
I tried to create a task to switch on GPS when running Pokemon App and then switch off once app is closed.
Task:
1. Launch App
App Pokemon Go Data %LOC
I run the task, as expected, it opens pokemon go app and 4G(gps) icon appears on the upper-left corner of my phone. But the icon won't disappear when I manually turn off the Location on Quick Settings.
Please help how to restore Location icon on-off.
Thank you
Hello.
I want to report on all technical forums, an issue that I have encountered in MTK6753. It's about the GPS module of the chipset in some navi apps.
I own a VOYO Q101 Phablet (chipset MTK6753, 2GB RAM, 32GB Flash-Memory), with Android 7.0.
Despite the fact that the chipset model is MTK6753, when reading the prop.file I can see that the GPS module is based on MTK6735.
Scenario:
Firstly, we need to get the "GPS Locker" app from Store, in order to get our "real-time" no. of satellites in the notification bar.
Secondly, we need to install Waze and Google Maps (two navi apps, well known in Europe ans US) - in order to do the test.
1. We are turning on the Location. We can choose any option from "Device only (GPS module only)", "High accuracy". The following problem occurs in both situations. Let's choose Device only.
2. Open GPS Locker and get a lock. Very fast, I get a lock in 3-5 seconds (outside) and 10-15 seconds (inside a building).
No. of satellites: 15/17, 16/17, sometimes 18/20. So, no problem with the antenna or other stuff ... Okaaay.
Now, 3. Open Waze or Google Maps and, in the next second (immediately) slide down the notification bar (in order to see the GPS Locker status).
We can see that the no. of satellites decreases drastically, sometimes till 0/20 satelittes ! So, we have no GPS in navi apps. This is the problem I want to emphasize.
Very good reception in GPS status apps (like GPS Locker, GPS test, etc.), but when opening Waze or Google Maps we have a huge drop in the number of satellites available.
Sometimes, it goes down till 0, and after 10-15 seconds fluctuates between 3-4-5-6 satellites, then suddenly back to 0, etc., etc.
We can exclude:
- a problem in GPS antenna (than, I shouldn't have 18-19/20 satts in GPS Locker)
- a hardware problem
I have tried some settings from MTK 65xx GPS tutorial (settings in Developer Mode, Engineering Mode), but everything is okay (outside of a navi software .... )
Where is the problem? Have you encountered this problem?
Up
Whenever my location was set to either "Device only" (GPS only) or "Battery saving" (network location only) and an app recommended to improve location accuracy and I accepted, it used to switch to "High accuracy". But today I noticed that every time I accept, it just switches between "Device only" and "Battery saving" and the recommendation keeps popping up in a loop, until I manually set it to "High accuracy".
I tried uninstalling Google play services updates and updating it to no avail.
What's wrong?
Please watch the following screen recording
https://streamable.com/k43a1
1. Theming - I try to change the colour but doesn't seems to have any effects? 'Icon Shape' is working partially but 'Accent colour' is not working.
2. GPUWatch > API (OpenGL) - I tried on Youtube, so the FPS counter says 'Cur' means 'Current'? 'Med' means 'Median'? And if the graph is not running meaning the phone is not refreshing the screen?
3. Force full GNSS measurements - Does this means if I turn it on, the phone will not only track using GPS, but also using other satellites like GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo and NAVSTAR? Probably a more accurate location tracking?
