Hey guys, I am trying to install TWRP on my Samsung Galaxy J7 neo SM-j701M (AKA Samsung Galaxy J7 Nxt in India). What version of TWRP do you suggest I should go for ? I am confused because on TWRP, I see these two :
Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016 Exynos) (j7xelte)
Samsung Galaxy J7 Exynos SM-J700 (j7elte)
I am thinking of trying the emboldened option, because the top one is 2016, and my phone was release 2017, however the one below says SM-J700 my version is SM-J70. I found a website with links to one but Its not from the official site and I don't want to get any malware.

Difference between the 2015 and 2016 version of galaxy j7
http://m.gadgets.ndtv.com/samsung-galaxy-j7-2016-3399-vs-samsung-galaxy-j7-2720
They both almost have the same chip set so cant the 2015 recovery work on the 2016 version. The 2016 has Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617
Exynos 7870 Octa which almost just like 2015.
On twrp website it says for exynos j700 galaxy j7 and thats what this 2016 version is too so im just curious if the 2015 recovery would still work on 2016 variants.

The cpu processor and gpu are different so is the graphics processor. The ram is different, but their the same phone just different specs.. But there shouldnt be nothing there which wouldnt allow the twrp 2015 code to work on 2016 with slight modifications. The recovery partition is bigger on the 2015 version so it wont flash correctly but the code could be remade into a smaller img image.. apps change sizes all the time bigger and smaller every update so why cant a recovery go from big to smaller.. ???
Do You Think Samsung Galaxy J7 [ 2015 / 2016 / Prime] Will Get Update of Nougat? Share your thoughts!
J7 2015 - no, J7 2016 and Prime - yes
It seems rain will not fall for J7 2015
@Forgetten @saddam.khan999
Yup, there's two reason for that.
1. J7 (2015) was pre-installed with 5.0 / 5.0.1 however it was later updated to 5.1.1 and than 6.0.1.
2. The chipset isn't compatible of Google's minimum requirements.
can u let me know the source for the second reason you mentioned
Don't worry Bro our devs will port Nougat for us...

I think there are 80% chances of getting nougat and i am sure that it should get. Otherwise are devs are there they will definitely port nougat?
j7 2016 and j7 prime will get update
As i asked to Samsung

Hello, I want to have Android 12 running on my Samsung Galaxy C5, found out that J7 and C5 uses the same CPU, so it's possible for a build to roll out.
I hope someone does it for my device, it would mean a lot for me!
