Can you post a screenshot of it working? As much as i'd like VoLTE feature on the Nexus 5, i still believe that the phone lacks the hardware required.
I'd be glad if i'm wrong though.
can you send me the screenshot of it pls..

Tried it out, the enhanced 4g aka VOLTE setting exists but I couldn't get VOLTE icon in the status bar and was not able to place any calls at all. Probably the setting is just a stub.
Not working
sometimes doesn't work jio voice calls because of network problem.
In the screenshot you posted you are using jio4GVoice app to place and receive call, it has nothing to do with phone supporting volte or fake nexus rom, I am on stock marshmallow on nexus 5 and using the same app i can place call using jio, its just an app that lets you place calls over your mobile data..

In the English USER manual for the Mate 9, there is a section under CALL SETTINGS that tells you how to Enable VoWi-Fi. They actually use this wording in the directions " Touch SETTINGS > Wi-Fi calling"
WiFi calling options are NOT present in the call settings menu for my Mate 9 (6GB/128 GB Model MHA-AL00 / Build Number: MHA-AL00 C00B137). I have the 2 SIM version sold by a HK seller on eBay.
My questions...
Is the manual is describing something different from the WiFi Calling from T Mobile that I'm very familiar with?
I use T Mobile as my USA carrier and have a T Mobile phone that does Wi Fi calling very nicely.
I put the same T Mobile SIM in my Mate 9...but the WiFi calling options STILL don't appear.
Is the Mate 9 really compatible with WiFi calling? What am I doing wrong?
Thank you.

The phone supports wifi calling but it's not a universal standard so each carrier does it differently (as far as I know). So it's probably not supported with US carriers, especially when it's not even released there.
I believe the phone might need a software update specifically to support it for T-Mobile. I think most carriers don't support VoLTE/Wi-Fi calling, so that might be why it has no option out of the box but a regional firmware update should enable it.
Being compatible doesn't mean it will just work. It means it will work if the network supports it.
T-Mobile will make sure that the phones it sells for its network will have the right software. An imported phone won't have that software and if you are unlucky it might not be directly upgradeable.
This is one reason why it's always a bit of a risk to import phones from another region.
WiFi Calling ...a few potentially useful tid bits...
Thank you to all! I'm pretty sure each carrier will keep the process as "proprietary" as humanly possible for obviou$ reason$.
Here is a tid bit I learned from Apple support on the topic of WiFi calling. As you may know, Apple 6S onwards support WiFi Calling. I was curious about how carriers 'support' WiFi calling on an unbranded / unlocked WiFi capable iPhone.
Here's the punch line from Apples...
If you use WiFi Calling on say T Mo..and then you want to pop in an AT&T SIM card....get this....you MUST do a factory re-set to enable WiFi calling with the newly placed SIM... Can you believe that? I change SIMS like underwear! Doing a factory reset for WiFi calling is impractical for me...
Does anyone know of any further progress on wifi calling from T-Mobile for this phone? Please share.
Well I have been able to make calls through the Google Hangouts dialer on WiFi, but doesn't seem to work to receive calls. Not sure how well it would work if I tried to port my number over to Google Voice, looked this morning said it would cost me $20 to do it.
But I'm likely returning my phone, not being able to get calls at home because the service in my building is poor... Pretty depressing because the phone is badass.
Google voice is not wifi calling as a feature set from either the phone manufacturer nor T-Mobile.
Wifi calling is when your mobile provider can service a connection over wifi, regardless of there being a cell signal or not. It treats your number as PSTN over wifi. Over it's (provider) servers.
Google voice is not wifi calling.
But I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Google voice is wifi calling if you have a gv number lol
"Wi-Fi Calling is the conventional name for a technology that allows cellular packets from your phone to be transferred to your carrier over the internet, and injected back into the cellular network as if they'd been beamed over the air.
Unlike services like Google Hangouts and Skype, which let you talk to other people using call forwarding or an internet-based interface, Wi-Fi Calling lets you use your actual carrier phone number over the internet. Wi-Fi Calling is also distinct from VoIP technology, which lets you use an internet-connected phone exactly as you would a landline. VoIP transfers your voice over the internet to the switched telephone network, whereas Wi-Fi Calling connects your voice to your mobile carrier's network using the internet instead of cell towers."
So, it's not wifi calling as highlighted as a feature by mobile manufacturers and thus offered/utilized by mobile providers as a result.
This thread is specifically for the above mentioned capability. It would be best to not dilute the discussion with alternate options via additional apps. It would be misleading and misdirecting fellow readers.
The USA version does.
We have to wait for a USA firmware upgrade becomes available and update to that. If you have no interest in using funkyhuawe8, then probably sol unless they include in international ROM at some point.
Which k doubt because it would be included already.

Where do you see wifi calling on the US version? I have one and can't find it.
It was around USA release. Not that important to me. Sure search will pull up something.
Edit.
It was volte I was thinking about. Until they release a update with wifi calling , Hangouts is the workaround

From everything I've seen the carriers have to approve devices for them to be able to utilize WiFi calling. It's one of the downfalls of having an unlocked device in the US as it's highly unlikely that a carrier will approve it.
That's correct, the while the firmware from Mate 9 supports it, there would likely be carrier/provider specifications that requires to be enabled. Huawei clearly does not have the green light from TMO for this else it would have been available.
This is the same reason, a TMO specific phone will have wifi calling, where as its international counterpart wound have it...

So using funkyhuawe8 will enable carrier (TMO) wifi calling?
Is this working for anyone on a L29 international version?
Thank you intruda119.
Any way you could shed some light on what exactly needs to be done using FunkyHuawe8 to enable wifi-calling please.

So does this have wifi calling on T-Mobile or not ?
No.
Hi, I had Poco F1 before with working VoLTE, so I know that my carrier and current Sim card is supporting it. All I had to do on the F1 was typing in that code *#*#86583#*#* and activating the new volte setting.
I tried that with the X3 but it's not working. Whenever I receive/make a phone call my connection will switch from 4G to 3G.
Is there a workaround or is it a hardware limitation? I could imagine because the X3 just has an entry level SOC that the modem has some artificial restrictions to differentiate from the flagship SOC (845/865).
Did you get a volte carrier check disabled message after dialling that?
For me both volte and vowifi are working fine
Yes I got that. Are you telling the phone your real location or do I have to chose India or china? I remember with my Poco F1 I had to chose India to get features like call recording...btw I'm in Australia.
Changing regions
Anyone know if I do a factory reset and change to a different region like Europe will that make the phone operate on different Verizon bands possibly allowing me to get service? Just a thought ?

If you got the VoLTE was disabled message after entering the code, go to SIM settings and there will show the option to activate VoLTE. If not appears, try to enter the code again and check the SIM settings.

I think using different bands it's more about regional ROMs construction (Global, India, Europe etc) than changing region in ROM settings. Alternative, you can flash a different regional ROM using MiFlash and see if it helps with your problem.
After entering that code I get the switch, to turn on volte, but that doesn't change anything.

Can't you see the specific VoLTE symbol near mobile signal in the upper right corner of the screen? If you can't see it, you can try to make a phone call and see if the google dialer shows it's a VoLTE call (or check the dialer history calls if you use Xiaomi dialer....you'll see there if it was a VoLTE call or not).
Same here with my Poco x3 NFC global I am on Vodafone UK my carrier support volte and vofi but I can't enable it , I have no settings . What I found when I flash custom ROMs the volte works , the sound in voice calls is super crisp and I got the icon always there vote on sim and vofi on WiFi . I need an option or a menu or a trick to show that option in stock ROM to enable it .
I remember back in the days when I had OnePlus I had to go in the ingineer menu to tick on a toggle " enable volte" and "enable vofi"
And later on the OnePlus 7t pro I had to install an apk to force that toggle so I can enable it .
On my Mi Mix 2s it shows volte when enabled. This one no. Poco needs to fix this before a number of users get dumped for lack of volte.

Did you try activate it using this codes in Dialer? VoLTE: *#*#86583#*#* and VoWIFI: *#*#869434#*#*. After that go to your SIM settings and you'll get the option to activate VoLTE and VoWiFi.
I have tried those and I left it on enabled both of them . Still not working

If you have an locked bootloader I'm not aware about a method to flash another regional ROM. I had read that many Poco X3 users have problems getting mobile data connection with Verizon (especially in USA).
Hello anyone has managed to operate the volte on both sim cards simultaneously on his POCO X3? thank you

Same here in Italy, no volte, it switch ti 3g. With my previous 8t all was fine
I am using the stock room and used the dial codes got the settings but everytime I tried to make a call it wouldn't work I went to setting all specs and tap internal storage 5 times then choose the sim you are using then you have to turn the top switch off then back on. This is how I got mine working I also have extended my storage by using root explorer and cut everything under sd card and move to storage.
Does volte work on this phone straight out of the box, or do you need the eu rom to get it to work?
Need to use the service code to disable the carrier validation.

Yes, it works for me. I am on weekly 20.10.15. Of course i put code into dialer first to activate the VoLTE option.
But VoWiFi doesn't work at all.
Does 5G work?
Mine shows VoWiFI in the status bar but not sure if it's actually been used for a call, see top of screenshot

How you did it to get this icon? What is your version of MIUI release?
You can check is it working (or not) for callis in the dialer app on the call log. It should show the type of connection next to the data, time and duration of particular call.
Yes, but I rarely use SIM 2.
I am on the EU ROM and it and VoLTE are activated in the ROM with control from the SIM control page. See screenshot.

I understand that you are on EU ROM but what is your version? Stable or weekly? And what is the version number? (20.xx.xx)
For checking if VoWiFi works make a call and check the log in call log for call type, please.
I assume you have Mi 10 Ultra?
I have had both VoLTE and VoWiFI on every version of EU ROM 8 have used since coming from stock Chinese on both A10 and now A11 since launch. I'm on 20.11.05 this week. Both the most recent stable and all weeklies have had it working on the EU ROM.
Since A11, the option to have a preference of voice over Wi-fi or voice over LTE has dropped, you just get the option to turn on voice over LTE, looks like voice over Wi-fi is now preselected.
I understand that I can check my call log but I rarely use SIM 2, so cannot see any use of it on Wi-Fi in my current list and I am not making calls just to provide proof that it works. If 8t says so then I take it that it will. Why would the guys at Xiaomi EU bother to implement it if it doesn't work.
If you are not on the EU ROM, then get it flashed and if you don't like it, go back to stock and relock your bootloader. I bet once your here, I doubt if you will go back.
And although I checked yesterday and saw none, I did make a call and strangely it went out on SIM 2 as a VoWiFI call. See first line screenshot. Second line it never connected but top line shows the call over 4mins on VoWiFI. So it is fully implemented

Wow. Thanks.
That is strange. Me and other people cannot get it working.
I am on weekly 20.10.15.
And what type of Wi-Fi you have connected to? I mean 2.4GHz or 5GHz...
I am currently on a 5Ghz link at home but do get it out and about on 2.4 GHz too, I've never had an issue, see screenshot.
EDIT, just to show the VoLTE on mine, the second screenshot was taken away from the wi-fi, so shows VoLTE on the EU weekly ROM.

For VoWiFi you need to put code *#*#869434#*#* and after restart the phone set on VoWiFi in carrier configuration (tap on SIM card).
Hello
I advised my brother to buy a Poco X4 Pro 5G as mi.com did a nice discount a few days ago.
The thing is, he lives in a place with very bad coverage so he is used to voice over wifi calls which work very well with his previous phone.
With the Poco X4 pro, it seems that his phone operator doesn't recognize this device as a compatible one (Orange, France).
Is there a way with stock MIUI to force voWifi activation?
Thanks
I haven't tried with VoWiFi but I have forced my Note 11Pro to use VoLTE and it works just fine.
I used the stock dialer and typed *#*#VOLTE#*#*
I guess you can try *#*#VOWIFI#*#*

Thanks you for your answer. Actually it concernes my brother's phone and he is doesn't live here and he is not as tech savvy as me so I just want to be sure about something before telling him to try : you can actually type letters with the stock dialer?? With MIUI 13?
Unfortunately I'm using an OP7T and I have no Xaiomi phone to try, and the xiaomi dialer apk is conflicting with the stock one on my phone so I can't simulate it.

No, you can't type letters with the dialer. You must type the numbers that correspond to those letters (each number has a bunch of letters beside it). So, what you should actually type is:
- For VoWiFi: *#*#869434#*#*
- For VoLTE: *#*#86583#*#*
These commands are toggles. So, if you type them again, you turn the feature off.
