I'm not sure if I have been near enough to a 5G transmitter to make it work, but in the UK, I have never seen anything over 4G (and yes, I have 5G enabled and a 5G SIM from vodafone).
Has anyone in the UK with an OP8 actually got 5G working? [I'm not interested in USA or other 5G users - just the UK as that is the phone I bought].

Hi,
I have 5g at my home location ( 3 )
Thanks - whereabouts in the country are you?

IN2013
Why?
Do you use two Sims? Think I read somewhere that 5G only works with one active simcard.
I only have 1 SIM

Because IN2010 doesn't recognize one or two bands from 5G in Europe (because is Chinese version). But yours is fine, is European I think.
If you go to Settings > Wi-Fi & network > SIM & network > What does it look like there? SS if you can, please. Also, do you have "2G/3G/4G/5G (Automatic)" selected on "Preferred network type"?
Info from Vodafone UK site:
You’ll need a 5G phone and a 5G-ready data plan to connect to the Vodafone 5G network. All SIM cards are 5G-ready, which means you won’t need a special SIM to get the most out of our growing 5G network. You’ll also need to be in an area that has 5G coverage.
If you're using a 5G compatible phone in an area that doesn't have 5G coverage, your phone will automatically swap to the signal that's available. Your 5G phone will then automatically reconnect to the 5G network once you're back in a 5G area.

So you'll need one of these plans: Unlimited Max data plan or one of their Red plans (above 1GB of data).

I do have it on auto as my preferred type and I am with Vodafone on their unlimited Max data plan.
It may be that I have just never been in a 5G area - but I am told by vodafone that there is 5G in Rochdale town centre and I didn't see it.

Idk, try to go to another area just to test it. Anyway, check here if you have 5G coverage where you live: https://www.vodafone.co.uk/network/status-checker. As far as I can see, in Rochdale town there's a very small area where you can have 5G coverage but it seems that is not the center of the town.

Hi, I'm using the LM-V500N Korean KT version in the UK on the VODAFONE network. Everything else appears to be working ok except for 5G.
It doesn't connect to the 5G service, only 3G and LTE showing.
Does anyone have any help or suggestions on what could be wrong?
My SIM and 5G coverage is fine as I can use my SIM in a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and it works fine on 5G.
Currently only EE sells the V50 in the UK, so I was wondering if the V50 is only compatible with the EE 5G service in the UK?
Ok since nobody is able to help answer, my conclusion is that my V50 is 5G locked specifically to KT carrier in Korea.
Only 4G LTE is working fine in UK.
So I guess 5G won't work until I can reflash the phone to European firmware?
Could this unlock the 5G ?
Thanks
where did you get the phone and do you get volte or wificalling..also how loud the phone gets trough wired jack.thanks

Yes, crossflashing is the key, but we don't have a working lgup right now. Let's hope we will.
just sound tested a lg v50 in uk today and is better than my htc 10 volume wise...i think i will go for korean version from wonda as its not worth paying EE 1800 over 2 years.SHOULD I PUSH THE BUY BUTTON OR NOT?
I'll recommend Korean version as it's camera has features like super steady mode which european I don't think it has. Also updates. Yes lg updates are very frequently on Korean. Sometimes twice a month.
In the meantime maybe we get working the 5G. Or maybe not.... For me 5g is not that important. The audio quality is. And the camera, it wasn't in the past, but now that I'm spoiled, it is.
dont really care either about 5g.....not worth price vs coverage...but audio is a MUST.Curious thing is that a month ago i listened to a v50 in an EE shop ,but today a different shop and the audio loudness was twice as the previous one.

By the way the bank aplications work on korean version.Especially barclays aplication or any banks app?
Yes all my banking Apps work in the UK on my V50 Korean KT version. I've not had any issues.
I use Natwest, Virgin Money, Nationwide.
The only app that did not work properly was Sky Go, but this is also now fixed with the latest update I received 2 weeks ago. V500N11r

I bought my V50 on ebay from Korean seller Funphone-International. The price was very good and converted to less than £370 Inc shipping.

Hello, I've emailed KT Mobile Service because I was curious if the V500N KT version, which I own too, really locks 5G in a way in their phones and here is their answer:
My question: How can I use the 5G network in my country, Portugal, with my network (NOS). Is it possible, do you have to unlock the 5G network?
-Answer: Originally LG V50 is unlocked also KT doesn't have Carrier lock.
If your provider has 5G service you can use 5G but if they don't, you can not use it.
To check your service, you need to contact LG or your mobile provider.
I don't know why you can't use 5G in your network, but it's not because of KT network.
most of the countries require to have the 5g phones registered to their network and also you need a 5g plan.
Thanks for helping.
I'm on Vodafone Network with 5G service enabled, but the V50 still doesn't work on 5G service. A really mystery.
I've put my SIM card into a different Samsung 5G phone and it works with 5G service showing, so my SIM is ok.
Hi, I have done some more investigations and I used the hidden service menu 5457#*500# to check which radio bands my v500n was using.
Under the Multi Band Selection menu I can see all the LTE bands up to B41 listed and selected, however there is no B78 band in the list.
Does that mean my v500n does not support B78 band which I think is the Vodafone 5G band in the UK?
Can anyone else check their service menu and confirm if B78 band is present?
Thanks
korean is 5g locked ....was confirmed on telegram group
Ok thanks
Is that the reason why LTE band B78 is not appearing in the menu list?
Previous answer from Danix004 is saying 5G is not locked and confirmed by email from KT.
-Answer: Originally LG V50 is unlocked also KT doesn't have Carrier lock
If 5G is truely locked then did anyone on Telegram know how to unlock 5G on the Korean KT version?
Thanks
cant be done until root is possible
Ok I received the official Android 10 update yesterday and my phone is now at version V500N20b
Working really smooth with all the new features.
But still no 5G.

can such problems be fixed by software? I thought you will need hardware for that; not sure how this work.
I remember there are certain china phones dont work with vodafone B20 4g band.
Has dual SIM.
I'm tempted to buy and import to UK. However, not sure:
1) If Wifi calling works (I've seen online some short-codes to input into dialler). Anyone know if these work (specifically 3 UK)
2) Situation re. network. Obviously I'm pretty sure 4g will be OK but not sure on 5g (Currently 3 UK and Virgin UK/EE/Vodafone)
Any suggestions?

I'm using on Vodafone not the best network, LTE would be more of a problem with no band 20, 5g would be fine, I haven't been to 5g area to test other people in Europe have no problems with 5g
Xioami explained that the china modem and bands are quite different from Europe. With 4G you won't have B20 band and 5G antenna works differently (that's why in europe it's not dual sim).

5G in Italy didn't work very good in the china Mi 10 pro. I mean that the global version has a 25% more speed.

Is that even possible, or lockdown and heavy usage at the time of testing, side by side?
My Chinese version works fine on 5G in UK. Not sure about Italy but in UK we only use N78 5G band and the mi 10 Chinese version has that and several other bands so I'm not sure what you mean by a 25% difference in speed?
Picked up the unlocked version and activate with Verizon 5G sim here in Honolulu HI. Verizon coverage map states my area and pretty much the entire island is covered for 5G nationwide.
I have full LTE+ showing on my phone but after tshoot with Verizon for the last few hours and driving around a couple miles..my indicator has not changed at all to 5G.
Am i interpreting the coverage map wrong when it says all of the island is on 5G nationwide, meaning to me, i should see the 5G network on my phone?
Since i unboxed this device yesterday, it only pulled down one update and nothing new is showing as far as software updates.
Powered off the device a few times along with a network reset and still no 5G..
So far I've found the 5G feature to be the most overhyped, most under developed feature I've seen that was this hyped up in a long while. For the most part at the moment, i find it that unless you're standing on a block containing a 5mm 5G cell tower, 5G as of right now is pretty sparse and mostly useless.

What you can do is use the *#272*<imei number>#
Choose the att csc and choose the option to only change the network code.
I tried this and got 5g for 1.1 sec. What exactly does this do?
You can also enable bands and DSS for verizon nationwide coverage through the service mode menus. I have a n20 ultra with U1 firmware on verizon csc with 5G working.

Thanks, I did this and was able to get 5G to show. I did see some connectivity issues after doing this with things like apps reaching out to their servers and what not. Oddly, speed test gave me lower speed results than on LTE for some reason..

I attached screenshots of the menus I changed to enable 5G. The DSS menu enables 5G DSS, the LTE band menu enables all the LTE bands and the NR prune menu enables all the 5G bands. I would restore the VZW csc before making any changes. Changing the csc resets any service mode changes made manually. It will also work under any of the csc's selected, but then other things like wifi calling and visual voice-mail are configured for that carrier and don't work right. Also, carrier aggregation combos for lte and 5g produce slower data speeds if you have sales and network codes mismatched to the SIM thats being used.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you also get the options to set 5G. I'm on the latest EU Rom stable (V12.0.15.0.QJJCNXM), but in my settings in "Preferred Network type" I only have the option to choose LTE, 3G or 2G only)
Do you guys have the option to choose 5G?
Thanks

Hi @Sathelp,
I appreciate your confirmation, but unfortunately I don't have the option to choose 5G.
Are you also using the stable EU version? or are you on a weekly rom?
As mentioned, with the stable V12.0.15.0 I don't even get the option for 5G only LTE.
My wife has a Mi10T pro with stock rom and she gets 5G option and we have the same Telco Carrier, so that is not the problem.
Why doesn't my Ultra get it?
Thanks
I've not heard any other issues. I'm on weekly but why don't you pop over to the Xiaomi EU forum and ask there? Might get a little more support for this question
T Mobile Band 41 5G does not work on this phone in USA. Disappointing.
Hi, I'll be visiting the US in about 2 weeks and will be getting a prepaid sim for about 6 weeks during my stay there. In the past 5G in the US was not supported as the international variant of the galaxy series was an exynos modem. However this year with the snapdragon modem will there be a difference?
Has anyone tried to bring a global snapdragon version of the s22 ultra, specifically the S908E/DS to the US and gotten 5G to work? I am thinking of either using AT&T or Google Fi. If you have a better recommendation, I'd love to hear it. Or if it won't work in the US, if someone could clarify why, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all the help!

I see, thanks. So I see some of the bands are supported for 5G with Verizon/Tmobile/AT&T/ etc. Does that mean 5G will partially work, or for that provider to work all of the bands the provider uses must be available?

you can narrow that search down to provider, but you would be best researching the area you will be visiting and which network provider has the best coverage, different carriers use a variety of different bands

Yeah I narrowed it by provider, and as I mentioned the phone has most of the networks, but no mmwave and missing 1 or 2 5G bands, but still has 3-6 bands depending on the provider.

its not the phone missing the band, as such, its just bands are split between devices so as to keep the networks from being overloaded on a single band

Gotcha. In the past I've looked at the 5G coverage map, and pinpointed my location. It says that the area is covered for 5G. At&T's map does not say what bands are covering that area though, it just says 5G. Is there somewhere else you mean I should go?
If it's just there, as I mentioned the s21 ultra that I had last year on the exynos modem didn't work. According to the site you shared, the s22 snapdragon international version has the same bands. So you think it's likely that it won't be supported either, or should I be looking somewhere else?
