Hello everyone,
I have my Huawei Ascend Mate 7 for two months now and I noticed a strange problem : Push notifications of certain apps not working. Only on data while screen is off. Apps like Whatsapp for exemple. If I turn on the screen on or if I press a button (even just "volume up") the notification arrives. Whatsapp is set as "authorized" in the notifications manager. The app is also checked in "protected apps". I use "Normal" mode as Energy profile. Data is set to "always on" in Network menu.
Gmail seems to work correctly on data. Everything works absolutely fine on Wi-Fi.
It seems like certain push notifications "fall aslepp" immediately after the screen has turned off and arrive if I wake the phone up by simply press a button.
Any ideas on what is going on ? It's a very annoying problem. I had an HTC One M8 before and everything worked fine...

Can you be specific which apps not coming through ? Check what apps you have and you want to enable..
Do you have apps which will OVERRIDE your phone settings? And you have no idea what those apps enabling and putting in sleep..

The same problem happend for my,
Also the gmail app working good when turn screen off.
no push Notifications for certain app's like WhatsApp, Instgram, and others apps.
what is the best way to contect with Huawei?
Could this be because the apps are set to sleep when the screen is off (I.e. protected apps)?
Thus they fire into action as soon as the screen is on?
Guys check in actual app or in settings / manage apps and check individual app if notifications are ticked/on ..

Thank you for your answer Simona Simmy. Apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or Telegram for exemple. Gmail works fine.
To answer your second question. I tried to factory reset the phone and install those apps in first place to make sure that there are not other apps causing problem.

I precise again that all these apps have completely normal behavior on Wifi. The problem only occurs on data. I didn’t have this problem on my HTC One M8, Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

I knew you have one thing wrong ...
You in your 4th picture u have all apps set to notify .. that is WRONG ....
The notify in this case doesn't mean that they will notify you but it will notify pop up if u want allow app push notifications ..
So change desired apps from notify to allow .. ! that is why you not receiving them ..
Check which apps u want 100% allow and the res you trust less select notify ..
In fact, I tried both. "Notify" and "Allow". Beside, the system asked if I wanted to authorize the app to display messages, so I tried that but nothing has changed. I tried to return to "notify" just to see, that's why it's set like that on my screenshots.

Leave it to allow and restart phone ..
I set Whatsapp as "Allowed" and restarted the phone. I waited a few seconds till the screen turn off. I send a message to myself with another phone & another account. Nothing happens. The screen stays off. I wait a few minutes, I turn on the screen and bam, the message appears ! This is the behavior on data.
On Wi-fi, when I do the exact same thing, the screen wakes up and I receive the message immediately .
So the problem is still here... Very strange...

which rom u using ?
Yesterday I updated to a more recent ROM that is : MT7-L09V100R001C00B121SP05 via USB (nothing was proposed via OTA)
I just saw that the MT7-L09V100R001C00B127 exists and it appears to be the most recent rom. I could try to install it.

SP05 is beta dwngr. to B120SP04 try again ..
i am using 127 is beta too and have feeling same behavior as sp05
Applying an update via USB works even when I downgrade ? Is it the way I have to do it ?
Edit : I can't find the option to update via USB anymore.. I have just the local update option...

Okay so I'm back to B120SP04 rom as you can see on the screenshot, the flash has factory reseted my phone. So I download and install Whatsapp for a try, I applied the good settings again as you can also see on the screenshots (Protected app, Authorized). The problem is still here : on data, nothing until I put the screen on. On wifi, the notifications arrive each time immediately.
It's very annoying cause I love this phone but I have a lot of foreign contacts who use WhatsApp and I can't be on Wifi all the time...

Going flashing 127 would result same thing.. so u can stay on official 120.. there is no diff. and wait for january update..
last thing you could try to clear cache and clear data on particular app .. but don't think will help..

I had a similar problem a long time ago on one of my samsung devices. It took me days to solve it, and finally i found one tiny setting was not correct.
I'm using my Note 3 settings and translating from dutch to english so it might be different for you, but nevertheless it could help:
settings> data usage (the one where you can set a limit for mobile data)> menu button > allow data to be synchronized automatically/in background
That's when my push messages started coming in again.

What do you mean by "dirty kernel ? And by the way I don't know how to flash one. When I click to "Download" a link error is indicated.
The problem is also on Facebook Messenger or Tapatalk for exemple.

I don't know if the exact same option exist on Huawei phones, but it could be this : "Enable always-on mobile data" in the Mobile Network Settings menu as shown on the attached screenshot...
I tried Push Notification Fixer (non-root version cause my phone is not rooted) and it doesn't solve the issue. But I don't think it could cause it's not about disconnection after some time like the problem that PNF fixes, it occurs as soon as the screen is off.
I'm not quite sure if it is an Android/Huawei issue or a WhatsApp issue. But this strange behavior occurs with at least 3 other apps so I think it's rather a system issue.
It's a bit confusing. Anyway, thank you all for your contribution !
If you can find this settings page in your phone try the 'menu' button to look if there's something similar i described (always synchronize etc...)
Hey All, I was wondering if anyone is experience push notifications issues with the oppo F1 or delays in getting alerts on apps. For example i don't get any notifications from ebay or linkedin as well as a few chat apps. I was wondering if anyone is having the same problem or is it just me. I contacted Oppo and they are investigating about this, but i wanted to get other people thoughts.
Also for me viber doesn't sync with my contacts, is that a problem with others?
Apart from that I'm loving this phone... I had a Samsung note 2 before and this surpasses it in every way regardless of screen size.

Thanks for the tips, by the way i had data saving on but I added linkedin, ebay, etc as trusted apps which wasn't working, I'll try turning off data saving and see how it goes...
Is all push notification apps working for you? the most do for me like viber, whatsapp, skype (except that viber doesn't synch with my phone contacts) i find that some apps aren't working with push notification in specific for me ebay and linkedin are good examples.

Try to turn off "smart power-saving mode" .
thanks for the tips everyone. I tried the power-saving mode off, and giving that a go at the moment. I did notice that it still didn't work with data saving off. So I turned it back on and whitelisted the apps that I want with notifications. I'll see how it goes. By the way Williamlin零件件 i got your email, yes I already have the lockdown of the app in task manager, still didn't work though.
I'm also facing same problem with new my oppo f1 . Tried data saving disable. No l luck. Can someone please suggest ?

Although I would not want notification on lockscreen, but this seems to solve the bug.
I am using F1+
Check all the security and power saving settings. The phone will freeze apps in the background or with screen off to conserve power. I have the same issues with my Find 7 and have had to go through the settings very carefully. It will even interfere with my clock widget as I have a different launcher and widget running.
It seems a lot of Chinese phones do this now. My Huawei Mate 7 has similar settings. I'm not sure if it's a general lollipop thing.

Start whatsapp, hit home then open Settings > App management and in the "Running" tab you will see whatsapp. Beside it there is a padlock icon, press it and it will turn green. This locks the app in memory and prevents it being closed automatically to save power and memory.
How to deactivate security centre in oppo f1+ because i m using apps you need antivirus..
Tried them all, whitelisting Telegram in the task manager, allow notifications on the lockscreen, disabled autocleaning, smart whatever. Notifications are still not coming through.
How is it possible they incorporate so many ways in their os to kill one of the most basic and important functions of a phone!
And if it CAN be fixed, why make it so complicated! aarrrgh
Have you try go to the setting --> battery --> Others -->
Go to the apps that you need to get notification --> Turn OFF "Freeze when in background" and Turn OFF "Automatically optimize when an abnormally is detected".
Try that.. if cannot then its the OS problem with the App...

To fix this problem though, there are some things you need to do in order. Here we go then.
1. Open the application you choose and tap on Recent button Swipe the app down to ensure that padlock icon is there in left corner
2. Go to Security Center, Privacy permission, then Startup manager
3. Make sure that the app is allowed
4. Go to Setting, Additional Settings, then Application Management
5. Go to Automatic cleaning and turn off the Automatic clear apps
6. Go to Settings, Battery, then Others, and click on the app
7. Make sure the Freeze background app and Auto optimize are turned off
8. Go to Security Center to turn off Self-diagnosis frequency and Permission Monitor
9. Update the version to*X9009EX_11_A.16_160512

I had an Honor Note 8 and notifications any came through if apps were open in app memory, or if they had a widget.
Adding them to a whitelist/ignoring battery optimisations did not work and notifications were blocked and only came through when you opened up the apps.
Is this fixed in the Honor Note 10?
Could any users please test by closing all open apps from app memory and seeing if notifications come through for the following apps:
eBay
Etsy
Amazon seller app
Google Hangouts
WhatsApp
Facebook messenger
This is the only thing holding me back from buying this phone. It doesn't look like a Global version will ever be released and I need to know if the Chinese ROM still kills notifications.

Even with those option it does not work on note 8. We had to remove an APK called powergenie from the system to stop it from killing app even if those app are whitelisted.
Huawei power management is too aggressive.

One year I used Note 8 with Nougat and no problem with Power Management! Upon upgrading to Oreo system it automatically shuts down applications in the background, and it also does Note 10 ... ?
Phonemanager was the problem here on the Note 8. When i disabled that everyting worked great.
There are 2 settings that will totally minimize this problem (even Galaxy note 8 and iphones of my brothers are having this problem too)
but if you follow these 2 steps you will definitely minimize them as much as other phones
1. Settings/Battery/App Launch and set individual aps you like to get the notification to Manage manually
- turn all the 3 options on here (running in background , startups , and can be run by other apps) this will stop your phone from killing these specific apps from running in background
The second reason you don't get your notifications is because when your screen is off the Wifi will be disconnected first and then for a certain period of time , the system will also turn off your mobile data to save the battery as well. This means even if you have those apps running in background , you still won't get the notification because there's no internet connection....
So step 2 - go to Settings/Battery/ then look at the top right corner for the "gear" icon ,click ---- > Keep mobile data on <----- turn on option
(if you don't have mobile data plan and only rely on your wifi connection,well, you need to turn on keep your w-lan on instead )

Thanks, but I did all of this on the Note 8 (when I had one) and it did nothing. All of my notifications were blocked. The only way to fix it was to remove the awful PHONE MANAGER app via the ABD removal method.
If the Note 10 is going to be the same, I'll have to pass. I just want a phone that'll work properly out of the box.
No problem with WhatsApp, messenger eBay and Facebook so far, everything comes straight thru.
I did however observe sligh delay with Gmail.
Even with Gmail widget active in the background emails come at least one minute later after sending from another device.

I am using the Honor Mediapad X2 and having the same notifications issue, please note that there exists a HIDDEN WHITE LIST within Phone Manager where certain apps like Whatsapp are white listed and allow notifications to come through whereas other apps such as Hangouts and email clients are not. Having said this, do not use Whatsapp as a test to determine whether the Note 10 has the same issue or not. I do not know whether the Note 10's white list now includes apps such as Hangouts as it is a newer device and so it may be more up to date.
For your test, try an unpopular app which uses standard GCM protocol, kill the app, put the device into DEEP SLEEP (screen off, etc) and only then see if the device wakes up and notifications come through, they should.

The problems that i had on the Honor 8 are not on the Honor 10. I get all notifications with no problems. Just set the apps in manual mode and select all 3 options in phonemanager -> startup apps.

I am sorry to disappoint you. On the Huawei Honor note 10 (EMUI 8.2.0 build 132) you won't receive notifications if the application is closed (not running in the background nor in the foreground), with one exception that I have found so far: WhatsApp.
All the settings you can modify only affect the application WHILE IT'S RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND, that is, the app will keep running if the background and won't be killed if you disabled battery optimization for the specific app and changed the App Launch setting to "Manage Manually" with all 3 options enabled. However, if the application was closed by you or never launched after restarting the phone, you won't receive notifications even with disabled battery optimization and power management.
I am so frustrated, I don't even get reminder notifications from Google Keep notes app. The only workaround is to manually open all the apps you wish to get notification from when you power up the phone.
If anyone has a better workaround or has a different behavior than what I described, please advise!

Hi,
Unfortunately I believe this is per design and not a bug (Huawei strict battery saving policy.
The only way to guarantee notifications is to open the app you wish to get notifications from and keep it always running in the background.
Read the article below, it explains down to the bit level why notifications don't work on Huawei phones:

This always on option is there is the developer options in my unrooted stock release.
Hello friends, I am trying to decide if buy this phone or not, but the notification is a basic feature. My most used apps are Telegram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, so I want to know if there was an update or something that fixed the notification management. Thanks in advance.

So have the Chinese version with the Chinese ROM still.
I have noticed that sometimes apps no longer give me notifications unless I open them.
For example, if I do not open Gmail it does not auto download the emails and does not notify me of new mails.
WhatsApp does not always tell me I have new messages unless I open it etc.
I have tried to check the power settings and such and cannot find anything.
This happens regardless of whether I am on mobile data or WiFi.
Any ideas what may be causing this and how to stop it? I'd like to get my notifications as I receive new WhatsApp messages and emails etc.

I can't find the source or any helpful guide to fixing it, but I swear I remember seeing something about how MIUI prevents some notifications from reaching you by default for some reason.
I'm pretty sure there was also ways to get around it as much as possible, but another solution is to flash a custom rom.
Hmm, I did a quick Google and saw something about battery optimization but could only find MIUI optimization.
Will keep looking, hoping the global ROM will fix it though?

For emails, I suggest turning on auto sync. Maybe other notifications will get fixed too. Do note that turning on auto sync will result in more battery usage.

It is and has been on from the beginning. So that's not the cause.
Still experiencing this issue. Had full signal earlier and had a friend try to call me 3 times in WhatsApp and only got the notifications when I opened WhatsApp.

(I'm assuming most of the settings in MIUI 8 are still available in MIUI 10)
MIUI is VERY aggressive when it comes to controlling apps running in the background (when in this phone is completely unnecessary given the massive battery), I would do 2 things to fix these problems:
1) Look in "Battery and Performance" > "Manage Apps battery usage" look for the app you want notifications to work properly select it and select "no restrictions", or you can just turn off power saving mode completely and every app will show notifications properly
2) Look for a setting named " about this phone" or something similar, in the "MIUI version" tap 7 times till you get a message "you are now a developer" .
Go back to settings, select "additional settings" and look for "developer options" , go to the bottom and disable MIUI Optimization.
These two actions should fox notification problems and also RAM management, you apps won't be suddenly closed when running in background.
Quick note: after a few years, when battery starts showing it's age and your phone starts rebooting randomly , turning on MIUI Optimizations might come handy, it will work similar to iOS, slowing the performance a bit and limiting the amount of background processes to lower the battery draw, your phone might run a little worse, but it won't have random restarts.
Again, I currently use MIUI 8, so some names might have little variations, but the steps should be similar.

Here's a possible solution.
Open Security App > Manage Apps > Select app
> Enable "Autostart"
> Notifications > Enable "Show notifications" and "App icon badge" > enable the following toggles for all notifications found under NOTIFICATION CATEGORIES > "Show notifications", "Floating notifications", "Lock screen notifications" and "notification light" (also "Sound" and "Vibration" if needed).
> Battery Saver > No restrictions
In order to prevent MIUI from killing specific background apps you need to do this:
> Open each app separately > Go to "Recents" menu to see the apps running in background > long press on each app separately and lock it by tapping the lock icon.
> Reboot the device
Please report back and let me know if this has solved your notifications problem or not.

Did you have any success fixing the notifications issue?
Hello All
Ive got the GW4 46mm BT classic paired with a Note20U both up to date , woke up this morning after watch been fine for a week and put my watch on but no notifications coming thru to the watch did quick restart on both no go.
Reset the watch and only some notifications come thru no email or texts tho whatsapp is ok , checked settings nothing has changed.
Uninstalled galaxy gear app and reset watch still the same missing certain notifications even tho they are ticked .
Watch is set to show even if phone is open.
Any ideas ?
You may need to turn on notifications for the specific apps in the wearable app. I had to do this as I was getting no notifications for any apps.

I've checked all the settings and all ticked . Emaids via the Samsung app now work but texts messages have now stopped showing on the watch even tho notification is ticked !!!

As I never had this problem with the old generation watch I got before (Gear S3 running Tizen), I think we have just to wait for the 1st product OS update.
Youth problems are common on first releases. I hope first OTA will fix this annoying problem.

Same here. Text messages and phone calls appear fine. WhatsApp is a hit and miss, sometimes pops up, sometimes just silently shows the notification dot.
In general, regardless of this bug, notification management on this watch is a mess, very poor user experience.
Some things I noticed:
1. If you're driving with Android Auto, it's impossible to respond or take action on a notification on your watch. Anything you click on (such as 'Delete' on an email notification or 'Mark as Read' on a text message) seemingly registers on the watch but the notification persists and no action is taken.
2. The notification indicator is useless if you have the watch set to wake up the screen when you get a notification. Basically it wakes up the screen to display the notification and from that point on it's considered 'read' so the indicator won't appear, even if you didn't actually look at it. They should've had an option to show the indicator while you have uncleared notifications.
3. Multiple notifications from the same app require you to click on a tiny number icon at the bottom of the notification. Inconvenient. (Think when you have multiple WhatsApp messages from different contacts).
4. Looking at a notification screen gives you no indication of whether or not you have other notifications, you have to try to swipe left to check.
5. To clear a notification while it's open -- you either have to click 'back' to the main notification screen and then swipe up or scroll all the way down to find the 'clear' button -- which sometimes isn't there and you have to click on 'More...' first. How about just allowing me to swipe to dismiss it after reading it?!
They'e put a lot of emphasis on health, but given very little thought about the basics.
I can only confirm and complain that I get 0 notifications from Whatsapp even though I've checked all the notifiation settings multiple times. Also even though I've got the wear os version of telegram installed, the telegram notifications I get are standard notifications that can't show e.g. pictures or voice messages.
It was working fine when I got it on tuesday. It even worked fine after the "day 1 OTA". And now I get nothing at all. Tried everything from granting more permissions to the Watch4 Plugin or disabling battery optimization and stuff. Restarted both devices a lot. It just stopped working. I am glad I am not the only one...

An update for you mine started getting notifications texts,Samsung emails etc . Gmail shows randomly but no vibrate or sound on Gmail other notification have this ,
I don't have a clue whats changed to fix this I already had OTA just woke up a few days ago and they were working phone was upstairs watch downstairs overnight ?!?

Weird... well I guess I have to wait. lol
Update from me as well. I turned off both phone and watch and turned them back on together after a few minutes. I don't know why it works but it does.
Edit: Nvm it worked for like one notification and then it stopped working again...
Restarting both devices helped me.
I played around with a bit more. Restarting both devices helps...for a while. As soon as the watch reconnects to the phone (i.e. you move too far from your phone) it stops working. Very annoying still.

I'm has been fine since it started working last week had few disconnects while walking away from phone but coming back in to range and its reconnects fine and notifications a work .
It does repeat whatsapp messages that I previously read and gmail still not vibtrate of sound ,

I have the impression that all the notifications work fine now: Gmail, WhatsApp, Nuki, telegram, Smartthings, messages, Gtask.
Hope it will stay ok.
Mean reason for me is having phone on silence but I can see notifications on watch.
Btw the watch 4 classic is a real beast.
What version of plugin do you have?
I still have no gmail vibrate.
