Issue with MSM tool. - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

Hello guys. I've tried on two computers with the official one plus charging cable to MSM back to stock, downloaded the files two times, with no luck. I keep getting SMT config issue. I follow the guide correctly.

Are you using the correct MSM tool for your phones model number?

Yes. IN2017, I downloaded the folder twice from the TMO thread in the one plus 8 forum. Also to note, I follow the instructions perfectly. The TMO forum states "click other, then from the menu choose TMO. click start then you get your phone in the correct mode and plug it in"(not word for word but yes). When I do that however even if my phones not plugged in, I get the error stated. As soon as I push start. Sorry if that makes no sense. I tried it on two computers. Basically no matter what I get an SMT error

On my msm tool, the SMT option is grayed out. Im usiing this tool with the IN2017 model, and yes i have the tmobile variant.

would you mind telling us how you did it? I'm trying to enable dm mode for g920v too.
Thank you
I've been trying to unlock LTE Band 3 for a while now.
You can forget about using QPST, since this tool is for Qualcomm processors. Our S6's have an Exynos soc.
@hackerx1001, I'd like to know how you managed to get your phone to work in DM Mode.
Also, was CDMA Workshop working ?
Thanks

Soc is Exynos but modem may be from Qualcomm. I believe Qualcomm holds some patents for the use CDMA and Samsung may have used modem from Qualcomm for the Verizon variant.
since QXDM appears in Service mode, modem may be from Qualcomm.
Help

You are entirely right, the modem is from Qualcomm, and we will be able to use QPST...once we get the DM Mode working.
There is another thread talking about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/help/dmmode-t3105630
It seems @hackerx1001 managed to enable DM port.
@lostvangel said He managed to unlock LTE band 3 for GSM/LTE network. It would be great if they could share their knowledge. Many users are still trying to figure it out.

Did you flash the correct version in MSM tool? There can be AA (Global/India) and BA (EU).
If you flash the wrong one or you have the wrong version of the MSM tool, certain features, frequency bands and possibly carrier profiles could be bugged.

I definitely chose the correct version there. I was a bit paranoid so I checked many times before flashing. My version is the unlocked version purchased directly from OnePlus here in the US, so I flashed the AA version. It even shows it in my about menu.

Then it is unlikely that this is the issue. My only advice is to either try another SIM card preferably from Verizon or to try a factory reset.
I'm not familiar with Verizon and CDMA networks unfortunately, but I'm not aware of any settings to try that could possibly fix this

Question Need a global T-Mobile backup from twrp

I got into a lot of work, and problems. To be short I got it rooted no problem. Then I did a backup in twrp before flashing recovery and, it total bricked on me. I forgot to transfer my backup to PC. Finally I got it working/rooted and, backup that works but glitchy. The problem is that the only one to work and, fix was India MSM unbrick tool. Now I just need a backup to restore to get back to T-Mobile USA T-Mobile anyway
Hey man! I had an issue where I basically needed the same as you (to go back to TMo stock) and the MSM tool for it wasn't working (Saharan and/or Unsupported Device errors, depending on the Tool's mood).
I did a lot of digging and reading and ended up modifying the TMobile MSM (posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oneplus-9-11-2-22-2-t-mobile-msm-download-tool.4276119/) and it's files by decoding the .OPS file from both the Oneplus 9 TMobile MSM (linked above) and the OnePlus 9 Pro India MSM, copying some lines of code from the Settings.xml of the OP9P India MSM and swapping the OP9 TMo MSM code with it, basically making it think it's the India 9 Pro MSM and allowing the tool to flash the TMobile stock rom (as only the tool itself was "modified" and not the actual phone firmware file).
It worked perfectly and solved the issues I was having when I failed while moving the phone to Global rom.
I'll be uploading the file to a Google Drive later today when I get home (about 4-5 hours from writing this, office internet is hella slow), so you can use it and see if it solves your issue. I'll update this post in a while if you're interested, cheers!
Edit: Hotspotted my laptop during work, here's the modified MSM!
TMobile OP9 MSM (modi)
thank you i got it working again

Automatic detection of DDR failed

Greetings all, I tried flashing the global version rom on my 8T kb2007 (TMobile) and "automatic detection of DDR failed" keep coming up on the msmdownload tool everytime I try to put the phone in edl mode. I'm new to these things so I'd appreciate the help. All I want is turn my single sim phone into a dual sim!!!

I got that error as well and used various versions of MSM but could not figure it out.
If MSM itself doesnt work, I am hesitant to try other things
Please let me know what worked for you

Question Global/Custom ROM back to T-Mobile Issue

Hello.
So basically, I have a T-Mobile OnePlus 9 (LE2117). I went through that whole ordeal of having that global conversion script brick then phone and then bring it back to life using the India 9 Pro MSM. I tried a bunch of stuff, eventually gave up and contacted OnePlus support to get to a working T-Mobile MSM tool.
When the T-Mobile MSM they used did its thing, it went back to the T-Mobile software, however there are two issues with it:
1. The pink T-Mobile splash screen doesn't show up on boot but instead a black one that just says "android" shows up (see attached image)
2. The software updates button is grayed out and cannot be hit
The original T-Mobile MSM you can find online also works now, but it still results in this same issue.
I ended up using the global conversion MSM on OOS 11 and a custom rom for a few months each, both of which worked perfectly, but this is still an issue that is here after using the T-Mobile MSM again.
Is there any good way of fixing this issue? I do have quite a few of the important partitions backed up if those are necessary.
Thanks!

The dual sim/no service bug. I am aware of the root fix, but I was looking to get the T-Mobile software working normally again.

I would say that it is tmo because the T-Mobile msm tools works no problem.
