I had a oneplus 6 and that updated to android 10 a while ago.
Now I recieved a oneplus 7 pro. But the problem is it will not update to android 10.
Tried a system update check, Said up to date.
Contacted oneplus they mentioned the local file upgrade
Downloaded that ZIP and tried again, it tells me system update installation failed.
I am rooted and have TWRP installed as well as magisk.
Considered flashing from TWRP, but since it is an official system update not sure how that would work.
Is this my best option or anyone have an idea on why it fails.?
Tried different suggestions, nothing seemed to work. Did not try to delete cache yet.

you cant update to the latest 10 from 9 ... you need to do it incrementally

Then I ended up doing local update with the update from oneplus latest.
Now I am working on redoing TWRP. It is sticking on fastboot mode after doing a fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-4-guacamole.img
Just hope I didnt mess something up when I did the TWRP Magisk A/B retention script.
May try a different TWRP boot img

I have a l04 with the latest 5.0 emui Android 7.0... The issue is that I wanted to format the phone to sell and doing so I deleted the os from twrp on accident and tried flashing the stock rom given from Huawei, but now the phone is giving me errors when trying to flash anything on twrp it tells me zip is corrupt. Not sure what to do from here since I cannot get the 5.0 recovery/boot/cust/system img files. Or the update app to do the 3 button reset.

See if you can flash this from settings. It used to allow you to downgrade from Pie Beta. I'm not sure if it will work for Pie Official. You will most likely lose your data if you successfully flash this. So backup your stuff even before attempting this.
Or you can use the unbrick method to completely reflash your phone to 5.1.5 using MsmDownload Tool.

Download the 5.1.11 fastboot rom. Extract it. Open the folder you extracted and run flash-all-partitions-fastboot.bat
You see some things that look like errors but they aren't!! You have to have patients and just wait!!! When it completed it will say press any key. Then unplug phone and boot. You'll be on latest 8.1

If you're unlocked, flash it trough TWRP and format your storage.
If you're not, on a Sticky thread somewhere on this forum, you can get a rollback build (it's an Oreo build, the latest if i remember correctly, it's clearly called "rollback")
Edit : it's on this page : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3792244
What issues are you all having with 9? I was on the BETA build when I first got the phone and had several issues.. but after downgrading to the recent stable build.. I haven't really had any issues..
After recently bricking my Oneplus 6 by trying to flash the latest TWRP on the latest Android 10 OTA from Oxygen Updater, I found a post from official TWRP explaining how root with a10 will take a while to implement due to changes that Google has made to their partitions.
So I guess for anyone trying this out on their own, be warned. You will probably end up bricking your device like I did and will probably end up having a bad time.
Please correct me if i'm wrong though, peace!
Edit: can confirm fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-11-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img from the other popular post is working!
If you already have a working TWRP on OOS 9 you should be fine as long as you flash a working TWRP afterwards. Blu_spark TWRP 9.101 is compatible (please not 9.101 no earlier version will work).
Also don't use Magisk 20 only 20.1.
There is already a pre-patched version out there. You can fastboot flash it (as fastboot boot doesn't work). An easier way (without a pre-patched version) is currently being worked one as you pointed out already

I can confirm that this is working for me. I successfully upgraded from Android 9, Oxygen OS 9.0.9 to Android 10, Oxygen OS 10. Steps that I followed :
1) Flashed new twrp from link in the above post by akri1337 using my previously installed twrp : bluspark 9.85.
2) Flashed Oxygen OS 10 full update and added to queue latest bluspark twrp which I flashed in step one as it would be overwritten by flashing the full OTA update.
3) Rebooted into recovery again to switch to active slot.
4) Flashed Magisk 20.2 to regain root.
This process successfully upgraded my Oneplus 6 without any data loss.
Please note that I disabled all magisk modules just to be safe before starting the upgrade process but didn't uninstall magisk. I was on Magisk 20.2 earlier.
Hope this helps everyone.

Which magisk? Ver 20.1 ?
Why is it that I get an error when trying to flash the full OTA update using TWRP? Something about error 7 and not have a digest file. Is there a full OTA update file that everyone is using? I tried the signed full zip from here on XDA and the one from Oxygen Updater. I get the same error with both.

Still confused as to how everyone else can flash these zip files through TWRP and I cannot.
I'm currently Magisk rooted and have TWRP installed. Will I lose root and TWRP when updating through the local upgrade method?

Yes, you will need to flash twrp with adb and going through the hole process of installing twrp and magisk, but for me its not worked well, after first boot to Android Q with magisk 20.1 and granting some apps root access when I rebooted the phone its not booting to system and going to bootloader, I think its related to some problem with magisk 20.1.

This is the full zip to flash in twrp, but be sure to follow a guide to retain twrp. And I understand it's highly recommended to clean flash when moving to A10.
I have downloaded the full file and gone into TWRP to flash but I keep getting an error code 7. Mine is a T-mo converted to international version. I even wiped dalvik, system and data but still the same error. Can't figure this out.

I posted to the wrong forum. Anyone know a working TWRP for OnePlus 6T to upgrade to 10.3?
I had no luck, even with the newer TWRP version. OOS 10.3 is different somehow and TWRP doesn't like it. I just downloaded the ZIP file with the Oxygen Updater app, and then did a local upgrade via Settings -> System -> System Updates. Afterwards, you can re-install TWRP, which is still useful for things other than OOS upgrades for now.

Hi Everyone, there seems to be a lot of bits and pieces in regards to updating OOS 12 and Root so I thought I put together this guide on the way I do it while retaining Root. Unless something changes, this method should work for all future OOS 12 OTA updates.
Please read through all of the steps below before attempting. I will take no responsibility if something goes wrong, this works for me on my OnePlus 9 LE2115 and it should work for other OnePlus 9/Pro models.
1. Install Oxygen Updater app from the Play Store
2. Download the Full OTA.
3. Download and install the OP Local Update app ( apk).
4. Use the OP Local Update app to flash the Full OTA (you will lose root and custom recovery).
Optional - Retaining Root
DO NOT REBOOT if you want to keep Root
5. Open Magisk and in the Magisk section, tap 'Install'.
6. Select ' Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)'.
7. Tap ' LET'S GO', let it run and then reboot.
After the system boots back up, check to make sure you have retained Root. You will not lose any data doing it this way.
What do you do if you've rebooted, are on the new OS but don't have root? When I go back to Magisk it's asking for an IMG file... I saved the last used kernel before upgrading (11.2.10.10)
I tried installing that app, which looks like its an udpate for a system app (system updater) which is prob why it fails.
I was previously under the impression that this app was to replace the missing system updater in OOS12.

This guide is for updating OOS 12, i have not tested it from OOS 11 to 12. It looks like you just need to flash the patched boot.img again.
Also, just to make sure, you didn't reboot the phone after flashing the Full OTA? After flashing Full OTA, you need to go straight into Magisk as per instruction.

Yeah, it does not replace any app, it installs a new one. The Local Updater app is only for OOS 12. In OOS 11, it's integrated into system Updater but for some reason in OOS 12, OP removed it and created a seperate app for Local OTA flashing.

Ah, right. From the other thread. Good to hear it's all sorted out.
If you are looking for the boot.img for a OP9 (not pro) LE2115_11_C.47... here you go:

Google Drive is a free way to keep your files backed up and easy to reach from any phone, tablet, or computer. Start with 15GB of Google storage – free.

This is valuable if you get stuck in a position like I did on C.47 without root. Patch this file with Magisk and follow the instructions as you normally would when flashing for root:

Correct?

I uninstalled Magisk (restored images).
Rebooted (I shouldn't have done this)
Updated via OTA; rebooted.
Confirmed I was on the new version; indeed I was... completely new UI... did not lose any data or apps
Used the update app to redownload the OTA, copied it to my computer, used payload dumper to get the boot.img. Moved that back to my phone, patched with magisk and reflashed and voila.
I'm not sure on the exacts in terms of versions that I was on before but I did back up the kernel prior to all this (force of habit) and it was 11.2.10.10.
Thank you, i will try
1. I will just restore the normal boot.img
2. Update via OnePlus Update app from device
3. reboot
4. install the patched_boot.img in the inactiv slot
5. restart
Done!
So to be clear, we can now upgrade like we used to, by downloading full image From Oxygen Updater, using system update complete the upgrade, then go to magisk and install to inactive slot and reboot?
I tried this with the earlier 12 release and it went poor.
Luckily, I realized before trying this, is this only for 12 to 12 udpates and not 11 to 12? If the former, it may be best to clarify.
I am not sure. But like I understood you have to unroot before...

Honestly this OS sucks. I wouldn't waste your time. I'm going to factory reset tomorrow. It's that bad.
The steps I provided is only OOS 12 to OOS 12. I have not tried these steps from OOS 11 to OOS 12. My assumptions is it should still work since you are flashing the Full OTA, it pretty much overrides everything including boot.img. This is why you shouldn't reboot after flashing the OTA if you want to keep root.
However, this is just an assumption, if someone who is currently on OOS 11 can test it out and report here, that would be great.

You are right for OS12 but not OS11. Therefore I assume you have to do my mentioned steps, but like @Z-Blade wrote, anyone has tested here yet...
Hello I tried it today. Like this:
1. I will just restore the normal boot.img
2. Update via OnePlus Update app from device
3. install the patched_boot.img in the inactiv slot
4. restart
Everything seems normal, but I am ony able to connect to the internet when in wlan...
I went from OOS 11 to 12... I wouldn't say the upgrade went smooth thus why I have to reinstall the OS to see if that clear things up. This OS is still really buggy from what I can see but it could be due to not clean flashing. Just beware is all I'm sayin'
So, my internet is back to live...after some reboots it works well
