Hello,
unfortunately my screen is broken by accident and I need to replace it. I have already ordered a new screen and I guess this new screen will arrived quite soon. Unfortunately I was not able to find any manual or video regarding the screen replacement so I decided to remove the back cover and check by myself how the screen replacement could work.
I have already removed the parts for QI charging and the cover above the main unit (mainboard). But now I need a little bit support.
Do I have to remove the grey adhesive tape on the earpiece and the front camera?
If yes I guess it makes sense to heat it for removal.
In addition I assume I only have to remove the three grey connectors (wide) and the black small connector in top of the battery. In addition I also have to remove the white and black cable.
Anything else I have to consider? Do you know where the proximity sensor is located?
At the buttom board I also have to remove the white and black cable. And as well the connector for the fingerprint sensor. Is the fingerprint glued to the display/frame? In addition I also have to remove the vibration motor. Anything else?

I had a Sensation with a broken LCD but working digitizer. So I bought a new LCD and followed some Youtube movies to replace that LCD. Before you can replace the LCD, you must disarm the digitizer also. It looks everything went fine and I was very happy that the screens goes on and digitizer works.
The problem started when I wanted to use the more. The touchscreen had very strange responses. Some of the parts of the screen(for example in keyboard part) are difficult to touch a specific letter. The borders of the left looks not / very resposive, keyboard tooks the first letter next to him. A few letters are to responsive, when I tick them, i get a few letters of them a a few around that letter.
I've tried the things in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239238
Anyone any suggestion? Does this look as a failing digitizer that most be replaced also? Must I calibrate the digitizer?
Other thing what's may be part of the problem. After assembling the phone, I keep the problem that on the left side of the screen, the screen not totale fall into the casing. On the right side the screen fall exactly into the case. On the left an above side the screen hangs 1 of 2 mm above the casing. When I press on that side, the screen goes into the casing, but comes above after releasing.

Honestly, I've got this issue going on with my phone too. If you have a screen protector on, I'd say don't worry about it! Just look for a new back cover (which the speaker area is part of) on eBay for like $15-20 when you're ready to sell it, then take off the screen protector, replace the back cover, and then you'll have a Sensation XE ready to sell in virtually brand-new condition.
(PS: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Black-Rear-B...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3cc80805ad <- Just for reference, you're talking about $20 or so...so feel free to just use it as it is now!)
Or just paint it red again. Just take off the back battery cover and the red speaker cover/protector just pops out with a little push. With red spay paint, just give it 1 quick spray n it'll be like new. I did it with my desire s today, sanded it down n im gona spray it white n paint the speaker cover n buttons red

Hey guys I did a battery swap on my tablet which fixed the reboot issue but I managed to screw up my 4g. Specifically the tablet will not recognize a sim card inside despite rebooting, as well as resetting the card. I did notice upon inspection the black part at the top seems to have fell off. Is this repairable? Or did I brick my tablet

I'm not really sure what this part is called so I added a picture, it's right above/perpendicular to where the camera would be on the top of the tablet, and its near a microphone
If your SIM card had worked before you did the battery replacement, probably your USB flex or SIM/SD flex is not fully connected. Try to disconnect and reconnect all the flex cables, they are serial connections from Home button, sim/sd, usb port to mainboard. If the SIM slot is defective, you can buy a new one, it costs only $6 to $10, depending where you buy.

The small black plastic at the center of LCD frame is IR cover, you can put it back to the frame but the back cover of the tablet has to remove first.

Hi please help! i'm about 30% opening my SP3 and so far glass is perfect no cracks fractures at all.. but while i was attempting the first top left corner, i i think i pushed the card too deep!! At once i see some circular shapes expanding forming in part of the lcd screen corner (it looked like it formed UNDER the Glass so i'm not sure if it's indeed the display glass fracturing or damage to the lcd digitizer). best way to describe it is like it's some silvery mercury droplets forming under the glass, in a circular motion. then again, since i was bending the glass 'outwards' that could be the axel of a crack, i went in too deep and hard.
Please tell me if this can be fixed, my opening was otherwise perfect, i really want to fix it don't mind buying just a digitizer unit but i don't think retailers sell just the digitizer.
Any advice appreciated, thanks.
Edit
A hardware friend just saw the pic and suggested that it could be some glass or LCD layer separating from the inner surface of the glass. he says this might be fixable if i can get the full display off- by flattening it from the inside once display+digitizer is out.
This is the orignal cracked screen

And this is the new replacement screen
So finally my phone fell down and cracked the screen. Figured I should go and replace it straight away.
Mi Mix 3 isn't officially available in my country (Malaysia), so have to go with aftermarket "original" parts as claimed by the repairer.
Replaced, and it worked...... for less than a day. the screen turned black soon after.
But strange thing is, if I hold the power button and reboot the phone, the MI logo came up, indicating the screen works - but not in MIUI. Fastboot screen, recovery are working.
What can I do? Should I flash it from China ROM to Global and mayyyyybe it will work? Ugh so annoying
Check for loose or damaged connectors.
Are the battery and its connection good?
Try reflashing to same firmware version.
It's possible the mobo was damaged by the impact or G loading it experienced. BGA chipsets are intolerant of board flexing and a high impact can fracture solder joints including the hidden BGA ones.
