memory card issue p30 pro - p40 pro (plus) - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

i am having a problem, i upgraded to the p40 pro but my memory card from my previous phone p30 pro is not recognized in the p40 pro.
ive tried all kind of things, inc. re inserting tray while on and off, wiping gently the contacts of the card, i put a sim card in the slot and it showed up.
please help, i not only have all my pics vids and data there but i really want to install gms too

Is there any way you can link the NM card to your laptop and then try to reset it? and then transfer the data back on to it?

Nope... Only reader is via putting it in the phone and using USB to computer
And the phone not recognising it

Are you sure you're putting it in the right place? I recall only one slot has nm capability.

Yeah it was working perfectly with the p30 pro... No encryption or anything like that...
Nm cards are so expensive I trying to save this one

microSDHC card reading problems

Hey guys!
Last friday, I finally got my Toshiba TG01, which came with a 8GB Class 4 microSDHC card.
I didn't put it in my phone, since there's a virus on some of these cards!
Now I want to format the card with my Windows XP computer, but when I try to access it with a SD card adapter, it freezes my Explorer...
It gets stuck until I put the card out of it!
I also tried a USB adapter on my Vista PC and it only tells me this:
"Please insert a disk into Removable Disk ( H: )."
Same thing on the XP PC.
Can anyone help me?
sounds like a defect microSD card
Try disabling the autostart feature and then use the Panasonic SD formatting software.
yip know the feeling, the cheap card that came with my HD does the same, although it still works perfectly with my device and is accessable using a/sync.
Going to buy a good make class 6
well id put it in the phone then put the phone into the pc and make it a usb mass storage device
then if it can be seen then awesome format it
the card wont have any affect of the phone its it plugged into the pc as a mass storage device as the phone cant se it
Try reformatting the card, to fat32 using hp's low level format tool it worked for me.
my card is fat32, pc using xp pro still wont recognise it using card reader, although all is fine in disk drive and active sync......no real biggy....
it may be a defective reader
Hi all, just wanted to add something to this, as I have a TG01, and have had a few issues with memory cards with it. This is something I poseted on http://www.modaco.com/content/toshi...5/strange-files-appearing-on-my-storage-card/
"Hi folks, just thought I would update you with a few issues I'v had re the memory cards. I've used the ones supplied by Toshiba, (not the best) but also a Sandisk 16GB and 8GB, and both suffered corruption issues. It took about a hour to copy most of the files over to my laptop, and to do that, I had to put the mem card in my Touch Pro! I'm not sure what this means, as some people have said they have had no issues. It would be interesting to see what proportion of us actually suffer from memory card corruption using other brands! Looks like I may have to carry a backup of my mem card for a while!!... "
I'm not the only the only one with issues, as a few others on that forum have had them too. Wish i knew what was causing it. May have to go back to the old reliable Touch Pro untill we get the promised upgrades?..
Lets hope not.........
nope its not the reader, bought a new one last week as i thought it may have been that. Im sures its something to do with micro sdhc cards and just being made baldy.... cheap is nto always good huh...............
mm thought id add a poll to the thread, would be interesting to see whats the worst offender.......
Let me know if your brands not there, ill add it
Hi, have you already tried this??

[Q] 128GB MicroSD support, problematic?

H2testw verified card (passed) caused my MT7-L09 to reboot spontaneously over and over again until I remove the MicroSD card. This started yesterday probably after I installed a few more apps. These have since been removed. Card has about 62.4GB out of 119GB, used 56.5GB. Formatted to exFAT on Windows 7. Working fine for about 2 weeks until yesterday.
I bit the bullet and hard reset the phone this morning. Clicked the MicroSD card back into the slot and loh and behold, it started to restart again!
Anyone have the same problem? Using a Sandisk SDXC-UHS-I card here. Its not hardware fault with the MicroSD card slot because replacing the 128GB card with a 64GB card presents no such problem.
Edit: Inserted the card into my Note 3. Card presented no problems at all.
Have u solved this problem yet? Im thinking of buying the 128gb sandisk ultra with the 48mbps read speed to be used in the Mate 7. Is this the same sandisk microsd card you are using?
I am proud owner of MT7-T10 who is having exactly the same problem after inserting newly purchased 64GB Sony UHS-I Class 10 microSDHC Card. In fact, I actually bought 2 of these type of sd - I have not tried replacing it with my wife's sd card - must do this test to flag out DOA (defective on arrival) sd card.
It was working just fine until the sd card is half full. I tried factory reset and reformatted the sd card and the issue reoccurs after transferring all my data back to sd card (i have not tried without removing sd card thou). Since the unit was still under warranty, I took initiative and brought the MT7 to Huawei service centre and even demonstrate the issue. They happily replaced with a new unit but even that had the same problem out of the box. I also asked if they have any list of compatible sd card supported on MT7. The front desk simply mentioned that it usually kingston, but there isn't any black & white papers or sites to support that statement.
I also came across forums emphasizing to use only popular branded sd card and sandisk was one of them. Since you are having the same problem even with sandisk, I won't be surprised if kingston too have this problem. Or may be it is MT7 sd slot defect by design. :fingers-crossed:
As overall, I'm happy with MT7. Extending the storage using sd card would have been a added advantage but this is not the case at the moment. :good:
No such problems on my Sandisk 128 GB Class 10 - had been using it on the phone for past 4 months

I did it twice but the problem persist.
i experienced that before, but in xperia and old s3. It happened due to runaway media-scanner process. somehow it kept running scan all the time from the start. It didn't cause bootloop / restart, but it literally hanged my phone that time
I'm not 100% sure but i read somewhere that Huawei recommended to use 32 gig capacity Max. Or you could experience bugs.
I have the same problem btw, with a Samsung Evo 64 gig...

It looks like phone manufacturers takling bullcrap !
They will tell you ; yeaah it supports 64/128gb card ..but they won't tell u it will do problems.. so in reality phones may be cannot manage larger sd than 32gb ?

I had only about 11GB space left ... I don't think space usage is any issue. It boils down to quality of the card

6 Plus - sim not recognized

Hi,
I got my Huawei Honor 6 Plus yesterday from ibuygou.com. Phone is awesome, especially camera. I just love it. However I have a problem with Micro SIM card slot. It doesn't seem to recognise any of my sim cards. It just says no card/insert sim card. Where as Nano slot works just fine with nano card. Did anyone experience this? Any work around? Thanks.

What a great phone! I bought one for the time between selling my Samsung Note 5 and picking up the new S7, however it's ticking all the boxes for me! I might even use it for a while until Oppo release a higher end 820 Qualcomm handset.
Very impressed!!
My positives are:
1. tap to wake
2. decent battery life
3. No lag
4. great screen - very bright - touch on the cold side
5. good 4G and wifi speeds
6. expandible memory with option of dual sim
7. Android 5.1.1
Negs
1. no backlights for the hardware buttons
2. no 5ghz wifi - seems only to pick up 2.4ghz wifi routers
I have purchased this phone also, after breaking the screen on my samsung galaxy note. I have to say I'm very impressed with this phone.
Here are my (+)
1. great build quality premium look and feel
2. Excellent performance no lag whatsoever
3. wide bands good overall coverage 4g and wifi
4. good colours, bright screen
5. I like the custom software colorOS very responsive.
6. Easy to grip and 5" size is best to keep in your pocket without compromising screen estate
7. radio
(-)
1. 720P not very noticeable still enjoyable to view videos and games
2. some apps have push notification issues like linkedin and ebay
+ and - as mentioned above
even only 2500 mah, really amazed with battery life :good::good:
ColorOS really smooth :good::good:
I have seen in numerous reviews, they say that oppo F1 have only Accelerometer, proximity, compass, Magnetic Sensors but no gyro. But after I bought the mobile I have seen that is equipped with Gyroscope Sensor named OEM pseudo gyro. This sensor is not accurate, but gets the job done. Many people ask for gyro because its needed for occasional VR.

I thought if you have a compass then gyro is activated, how do you use that feature?
I'm not sure if i should open another thread about this, but i was wondering if anyone is experience push notification issues with some apps on the Oppo F1. For e.g. I don't get notifications from the ebay app nor linkedin, or some of the chat apps. Also viber doesn't seem to add or sync with my contacts but i do get messages and calls. I would like to get other peoples thoughts.

No gyro is another sensor. It can sense rotation. Its used in vr headset to measure head rotation. Recently some manufacturers implement virtual gyroscope which uses software emulation using Accelerometer & Magnetic compass for rotation tracking. It minimizes cost. I think similar supplementation hase been done in oppo f1.

Just bought one and is still on the way from optus online shop. Anyways, did you guys feel a need of a custom ROM or the stock one is decent enough?

The F1 is locked up tighter than a politician's point of view. No easy way to root and so difficult to customise.
Also want to point out that optus version has a snapdragon 615 not a 616. Still rapid processor and miles quicker than the s3 I was using. The optus Model number is F1f .

Stock is fine, I found the keyboard annoying, so downloaded google keyboard and sorted.
my HTCM9 died suddenly for no reason at all, its been in service a month and still in service so I just bought the F1 two days ago.
My positives for my F1 are:
1. Octacore
2. decent battery life - especially considering its just got a 2500 mAh battery.
3. Not much lag
4. PRICE
5. Looks (almost like a flagship)
6. external SD card - up to 128Gb.
7. Dual SIM
8. Qualcomm Snapdragon
9. Not hot at all (My HTC M9 was so much hotter!)
10. feels good in the hand (size, shape, dimension)
11. Did I say Value for money is very good? !
12. Comes with screen protector pre-installed already
13. OPPO shop gave me a free phone case (cheap but good)
14 the 3 GB RAM handles most you need
15 in headphone sound quality is very good for the price you pay.
16. Warranty seems ok.
17. AppOps equivalent (App Permissions to control each app is inbuilt app can be activated via Security Centre App)
Negs
1. no backlights for the hardware buttons
2. ColourOS is a bit buggy . Some app notifications on status bar appear then disappear. weird.
3. ClolourOS has NO full disk encryption (couldnt find it at all in settings, let me know if you do) - but it does have encryption of each app available by default app Security Centre>Privacy permissions>"App Encryption".
4. No root available and no custom roms available at this moment.
5. if using nano sim and SD card together, you MUST put a micro SIM card adapter (with your nano sim) in the first slot and SD card in second slot. ie .If you only have nano sim, and you want to use SD card also, you must use a nano sim to micro sim adapter in the first slot, and then put your SD card in the second slot. OR if you dont use SD card then you can put your nano sim sideways in the second slot without need for any adaptor, but then you cant put your SD card in the first slot.. (why OPPO not include a SIM card adapter in the box since many people have nano sim card now and SD card also?) Lucky the shop gave me one so i could test everything in store before I took it away. They wasted like an hour in the shop trying to figure it out.
6. its not a flagship phone
7 default keyboard. hated it. switched to another keyboard app.
8 [screen a bit too sensitive, eg when using handsfree call (phone on speaker) the speaker goes on and off , if you put the phone a bit too close to your face or if your hand touches the top by accident. Never had a phone that did that. (anyone know how to make it handsfree speaker permanent during calls let me know)]< Update- FIXED via the hard to find setting>gesture&motion>smartcall>"switch to speaker by motions"> click "OFF".
9 headphone ear plugs suck. not comfortable in ears. (why they didnt provide the small foam cushions that cost next to nothing?)
10 external speakers not loud enough.
11. THE sim/sd card tray is VERY fragile on the edges, mine bent first time I slid the tray in with Simcard and SD card, you have to get it perfect fit before you push in, otherwise, if the tip catches, it bends very easily on the edge. (I just pushed it back to shape and its fine now, but they made it a bit too soft).
if you want to get a Samsung phone for half the price, but almost same capability, then OPPO is the one. I would recommend the F1 to anyone looking to buy a phone in that budget.
just bought F1 today and already encounter a problem..oppo F1 doesn't allow u to move apps from phone to sd card... any way to fix this problem?

another problem...who is the idiot who designed the ColorOS without an app drawer? Usually if we tap the home button twice it goes to app drawer on other roms. where is the app drawer??? in beginning, i mistakenly moved some default app icons off home screen/launcher and now I can't replace them back? wtf? and I now cant launch them directly eg "double-exposure" and "expert mode" from icons.. I am beginning to find colorOS a little annoying.
Install Nova launcher or smart launcher problem solved.

Not really. I had already tried Nova Launcher before, but the app drawer on Nova Lancher does not show the default OPPO F1 icon for " "double-exposure" and "expert mode" and few others. Another "App Drawer Free" app on PlayStore shows the icons but you can't launch the app from the icons.( It's only for the paid version.) I personally think ColorOS is just silly not to have an app drawer. (unless there is another way to access the default app drawer from ColorOS and I dont know about it).

Hello, and thanks for the review.
Do you (or others) confirm that you can use a SD card and a micro Sim card, at the same time?
I don't have a nano Sim, just a micro Sim. Will I be able to use the phone with a micro SIM while there is a SD card in the other slot?
Or do I need to buy a nano sim to be able to also use the SD card?
Thanks in advance

option A: Micro Sim >Slot 1, SD card >Slot 2 >is OK
option B: Micro SIm >Slot 1 and NanoSIM (put in sideways with no adapter)>Slot 2, but NO SD card. >is OK
Option C: Nano Sim ONLY, with NO adapter, then > MUST put Nano Sim in slot 2 sideways, But then you cant put your SD card in. (ie Sd card only fits in Slot 2. And the Nano SIM only fits in slot 2, but you can't have BOTH nano sim and SD card in slot 2). ie Slot 1 can ONLY put micro SIM size card.
Option D: Nano Sim AND SD card (up to 128Gb) then> Nano sim + "Micro SIM Adapter" >Slot 1, and then SD card >must be in slot2> is OK (you may need to fiddle the adapter to make sure it fits in perfectly - tip - slide tray in SLOWLY)
hope this helps.

Hi all, My S7 no longer sees the 32gb micro SD card. I have removed and cleaned it, gone into safe mode just to see if it's a rogue app was causing the problem. It's still under warranty. Before I go down that route any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
Did you install the "Prime" Kernel ? That was the same to me and this Kernel was "guilty"
Install another Kernel and your SD should be recognized
Sorry should have said "It's out of the box no root". Don't know when it failed to read but yesterday in the maintenance app it didn't show. I have also cleared the cache, just wondering if a Factory reset would fix it?
Does the card work in a PC?
If yes, back it up, wipe it (Delete partitions > create new primary partition > format to FAT32) try it back in the phone, if it works copy your stuff back to it
If it works in PC but not phone, try another card in the phone, if that doesn't work RMA the phone
When I get home from my sons in Bristol will do as you say won't be for a few days. I did a Google and looks like there are a few of us having the same problem. Not quite sure when but think after last SW update a week ago or so, just noticed after!
Thanks.
Just got home and found another micro sd card only 2gb but the phone now sees it. The old card was a genuine Samsung 32gb the only problem is that I don't seem to have a micro card holder to see if the PC will see it. As they are quite cheap now what is the max memory size that will work in the phone and any recommendations?
Thanks.

Good stuff, just going from what it says on Samsung's site, and Android Central
Have you managed to fill all 256GB and have it all readable?
Wow 256GB card could fit the whole of the world's populations data and then some. I am going for a 64GB card with the internal 32GB that will be more than enough for me.
