UK owners experience - LG V60 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

I had to order my V60 Dual screen from Belsimple of the Netherlands and they had a €100 refund. Easy and quick delivery to the UK but you need to verify your identity after credit card payment with a €0.01 bank transfer.
I'm using my V60 on Vodafone but not checked if I get 5G.
This is an amazing device. Fabulous Quad Dac and you can use the Bamboo active stylus pen 2 designed for the Surface Pro etc. The LG memo app has a few bugs but the stylus works fine with OneNote.
Would be interesting to read about your V60 journey.

I did the same as well. Had it about a week now and love this phone so much. To be honest i didn't think they would ship it to the UK. I'm using it with three. No ideas if it works with 4G, let alone 5G.
So glad it has 256GB of storage. Plenty of space for music.

What option did you choose when made a shopping? Do they sell unlocked cell phone?

Belsimple have SIM free option.

So I just read the terms and condition of the €100 refund and one of the conditions is that you have a dutch address: "1. Participation in the promotion is only possible for consumers with a fixed home and place of residence in the Netherlands."
I just checked my date of purchase and it's 24 June - so I might be lucky - unless they decide to check for my non-dutch address!

I'm selling them for £1100 Poland version
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app

Bought mine from Belsimple as well. I using on EE, absolutely love it.

I had my €100 rebate from Belsimple.

I received 50 euro cash back, when checked on their website on my account it say manufacture discount.

so does it wortk with 5g in the UK?

[Q] Questions about buying phone in the US

Hello there, I'm from Indonesia. This summer holiday (Jun-Jul mid) I'll have a trip to the US for the first time and beside that I want to buy a new smart phone.
1. I'm 15 yo and I won't occupied by my parents when in the trip, but I'm given a additional visa credit card by my parent which is issued in my country. Question is, can I use that CC to buy the phone without any additional info needed or what do i need to have/give any additional info/sth like that?
2. What retail stores are recommended there? The price, the service, the easiness for me? As I know there are so many retail stores in US. I'll be in major cities though, like LA, LV, Boston, NYC
3. Any recommended Android phone to buy? Actually I'm aiming for the SGS2 but looks like it won't have come to US when I'm there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here are some quick thoughts. In the USA, it is often cheaper to buy over the web. They will want to ship to the billing address of the cc to prevent fraud. This will prevent you from using your credit card with most mail order vendors. Is the CC in your parents name or yours? If it is in your name, you should have no problem buying at a retail store as long as you have your passport for identification. Will you be staying with relatives? Could they run the purchase through their CC (reimburse in cash via ATM)?
Most of the carriers in the USA use a different technology than the rest of the world. You need a GSM phone. AT&T and T-Mobile both use GSM but use different frequencies for voice and data than most/all of Asia. So you are looking for a quad band phone that supports the frequency used in Indonesia. 2100? If you bought a prepaid T-mobile phone they would unlock it after 60 days and $10 in your account. (Or pay someone on ebay for the unlock code $10) T-mobile has some good prices but they only have a few prepaid android phones. LG Optimus T/Optimus One ($120) and the Samsung Galaxy S ($350) https://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/prepaid.aspx
You can also buy an unlocked phone that has been imported into the USA. If you buy a quad band phone, you could use it in the usa and in Indonesia. One of the major problems is that the vendors are almost all mail-order firms. If you are dealing with family, you could have them order it before you arrived so that you could have it right away. The Samsung Galaxy S2 looks like it is available via mail order for around $700-$800 USD with NO Warranty.

Unfortunately I don't have any relative there. The cc is in my name, so no problem right?
Because of that I'm looking for concrete stores maybe such as BestBuy, Walmart or anything else but I don't know which one of them gives me the best one?
Oh, so altough I buy in stores like I said before, instead of in the carrier's itself store am I still forced to buy the "post-paid system?"
As I know they're able to give it away off-contract but with higher price and locked, right?
I think most of the new smartphones are using quad band so that's not a problem... Because I have a friend here using a Captivate and it is fully functional after he unlocked it to be able to use the SIM cards issued here.
Thanks.

I will agree that most of the new smartphones sold outside the USA are quadband. Probably most smartphones sold by T-mobile and AT&T or are unlocked will be quadband and most likely support 3g frequency in your country. If the phone is associated with ANY other carrier, 90% of the time it will not support GSM.
PS I never bought from them but if you are in Chicago you could check out http://welectronics.com/gsm/Samsung/SAMSUNG_I9100-GALAXY-S-II-16GB.HTML In NYC - http://www.jr.com/category/office/cellular-phones/n/4294528936-4294605649/sort-by-salePrice-1/ One of the few places that you might be able to haggle on the price (Source: web posting).

Please help ? Off-Contract purchase

I live in Lebanon, Middle East. My friend is currently in NY for few days, so can't have to wait for the phone to arrive in few weeks from Google. How can I basically purchase the phone unlocked from a retailer on the go? Can I buy it from Sprint or T-Mobil being unlocked and Sim Free? If not, what are the other ways? Please anyone? Only few days left for his arrival LOL !
its not in any other retailer at this time

The ones sold in the US are North America version, especially the LTE bands and isn't 100% compatible with the ones sold in other regions - like Asia & Europe as those bands (radios) are tuned differently.
My suggestions is that you find and ask ANOTHER friend going somewhere else in the Euro zone to buy one for you, assuming that it is not available or for sale at your location or home country.
As for trying to buy it in retail store, Sprint is supposed to have them in their local USA stores tomorrow (or later) but there could be a waiting list and you will be paying an extra surcharge for it + taxes - there's another thread about the higher prices (around $450 USD is what I recalled vs. $350 in Google Play Store) - that is if they will sell it without contract or activation.
No news yet as to whether T-Mobile USA will be selling them directly, most likely - later on, it will for a premium surcharge, similar to Sprint prices - without contract.
Nexus 5 are shipped from the LG unlocked - carriers do NOT lockup the Sim functions for their network only.

Thanks for your valuable reply, really saves a ton of asking and research. To be honest I am willing to pay the extra charge to get my Nexus 5, since later on, when the phone arrives to my Country, it's going to match this exact price if not even more, which is like 600 USD for the 16 gb.
The only gamble is, if it's gonna work in my Country or not. My friend is going to buy two unlocked iPhones from NY already, is it almost the same gamble case? of it working in Asian/Middle East region or not ? ( Btw he works at one of the two carriers in Lebanon )

It is possible that they will have it at retailers tomorrow. Sprint, Best Buy and RadioShack would be good places for your friend to check. The phone will work, aside from possibly LTE. It is also available for preorder on the Best Buy website and it ships tomorrow.

Basically, the Nexus 5 has 2 verisons as far as the radio/band or country compatability are concerned - the Americas and the Euro-Asia models, two different SKU's - the other is whether it is a 16GB or 32 GB model, color in black or white - simple.
Both model are unlocked from the factory for quadbands (GPRS/2G/Edge Speed) including the 2100 Mhz band popularly used in Asia, so the US ones will work in your country at the "slower" data speed - but most likely not the so called 4G/LTE. For the average users, the 3G and HSPA+ compatability is more complex but depending on your cellular provider's network towers, speed can be just as fast.
In "third-world" or undeveloped countries with basic mobile networks, speed isn't your major concern - just basic coverage & a good signal.
As for the iPhone 5c and 5s, we don't use them but some of the nieces & nephews have them and use them - if your friend is buying them from the Apple store, they should be able to help him/her select the best model to bring overseas to use at your home country. There are different models and you want to match it as closely as possible. Here's a link to Apple's ITE coverage on different models sold, and the ITE bands used - you should reference it and perhaps alert your friend via email, look up a compatible carrier that you match yours. http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/
I know that the last time I was shopping & looking around for an unlocked GSM phone in Asia, the store sales people were helpful & making sure that I understood what they have & support are aimed at the local market with the proper radio bands, and that they cannot guarantee that it will work in the U.S. once I bring it back - returning it and exchanging it are out of the questions or very expensive to do. It will work but mobile data speed could & would likely be lowered.
Of course, if you are using WiFi or broadband signal at home or at work or in the universities with ultra fast connections most of the time - then you might find it acceptable given the cost savings. We have super fast fiber optics (Fios) connections and are reliable and having 4G LTE and/or HSPA+ enabled and working are just extra bonuses at our local price point - $350 USD for 16GB - with taxes & shipping, came to less than $400 still.
Good luck !

Purchased mate 7 32gb from ebay seller

Hi has anyone purchased a mate 7
32gb MT7-TL10 from a seller called sanho2013 ?
I purchased from them and there taking ages to deliver my phone.
He said 4-5 days delivery which states from UK but his account location is hongkong. Either way I wasn't bothered aslong as I get my device. Well I purchased last week on Monday and thursday 27th he sent me royal mail tracking. I've tracked it since Thursday and also rang royal mail as it just says tracking will update when we receive the item. Royal mail said they waiting for the item N that we have the job information like my address but the seller still.hasn't give it to them.
I contacted the seller many times he just said royal mail has got it on 26th which is wrong with estimated delivery 31st-2nd which is different to his original delivery date the 30th. But my argument is royal mail.don't even have it yet so he.is ovsly talking crap to me.
I was just woundering if anyone has experienced this ebay seller before. I did reasearch on his account before I purchased and he had a few thousand positive feedback.
I just don't understand how a £389 device hasn't been delivered to.me after a week and half.

If you order oversea it will take at least 10 days maybe two weeks.
^ seller is shipping from abroad (HongKong) & RoyalMail not got it yet.
The tracking updated last night it is out for delivery. Wish sellers was mote truthfull. It's a lot of money to part with. The sale stated no tax sent from UK.

Yes exactly what he does, hongkong to third party in UK as gift or low value so no tax, then on to you.
Finally received my mate 7. What a beast it even had UK charger inside so I'm guessing its the phone is for the UK as was manufacture sealed. Only problem I found was a little dent in the top left hand corner of the bezel. Not too happy about it but not a lot I can do but will contact the seller.

I had the same situation. From a different seller tho. Chinese people have the same tactics.
Try and cancel it, ill tell you where you can get gold mate 7 in a sealed box with eu lte bands with next day delivery for £360
Edit: just read all the comments. I guess im a little bit too late

Haha yeah little late. They ovsly making some money dodging taxs.
£360 is a good price tho I could only find 1 for 389 apart from a dodgy looking site for the 32GB version. So happy with this phone it's awesome. Definitely be looking into buying more Huawei phones in the future. Wasn't sure what I would receive from the seller but it's all UK as has UK charger inside so very happy. Just wish I didn't get a bit of a dent in the top bezel even.tho it's not very noticeable once I no it's there it eyes always sees it. Hoping for the seller to give me a partial refund as it would cost him a lot to return a doa device and then send another 1 out.

What is the model number & firmware version ?
In asia we are experts at opening & resealing boxes, most phones centres where I live have wrapping & sealing machine so you need check things real well.
The gold 32gb dual sim is £300 here & even cheaper than that in China/Kowloon
Do you guys actually have uk warranty ! I have warranty centre in my city near me, almost £400 is a lot of money for no rear retail seller support or reliable warranty.

@techfan1997 I've been using the MT7-L09 model for several months now. It works perfect with LTE on both AT&T's network and T-Mobile's network. It even works well with T-Mobile's AWS 1700 MHz band for its backhaul HSPA+ 4G service. This phone is 100% compliant with US GSM-LTE providers.

Mate 9 Pro-> Available at all? in U.S.?

The Porsche Design is incredibly expensive. But they have announced a Mate 9 Pro, and is on their web site here. But no information on versions, or places to purchase.
Google search not turning anything up either.
Seems like this time of year would be good time to get this stuff out there and available.

It's only a limited release so far.
It's available in China, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Your only way of getting it would probably be to import a Chinese version. I've yet to see a Nordic shop ship internationally even though it would probably be preferable (albeit more expensive) to get one from a Nordic country.
Other than that, you can only cross your fingers and hope it sees a wider release. I'm guessing they're testing to see the reception of a curved amoled display for future devices.
Thanks
Sweden and most of the others appears to be pre order from 20th.
i've found a couple of shops in sweden that will ship to other countries when they do have stock...
If you find out where the Pro is available for purchase online, please post.
Yeah, a lot of people like me have interest on this Model.
Sure. Likewise, of course.
Misco in sweden will post overseas but they only taking pre orders and are not guaranteeing it'll be instock by 20th. They said telcos will get them first so maybe try them....

Yup. It sure is. Although it is not available from a supplier in the U.S.
One of my concerns about purchasing a phone that would not be from a vendor in the U.S. is support. Even if the support is 'good', timing for handling would be an issue, I presume. Maybe my concern is not valid...I don't know.
The other thing for me is if I purchase a phone (especially one in that price range) I want to be able to evaluate it for at least a couple weeks and return it if it's not for me for whatever reason. The Oneplus 3 has a 14 day policy, and the Axon 7 has 30 days.
I talked to Huawei customer support today inquiring about the Mate 9 Pro because I have been wanting to get one but was told that they do not recommend buying it from 3rd party vendors or sellers and there is no warranty for the international version of the phone if you use it in the U.S.
Well, that ended my hopes of getting an expensive unlocked phone. Might as well wait for the upcoming phones...

Some re-sellers offer warranty support.
I wouldn't worry about it... I've never had to use warranty service for any of my smartphones. I've been searching but can't find any places selling this phone in silver/gray at a decent price... most are $1,000+. I already got burned when I bought my international Mate 9 (lost $200 when I sold it after the unexpected U.S. release).

Very valid. I bought a Mate 9 Pro in the USA via a seller on ebay. The sellers post just said huawei has 12 month warranty. Which is true. Just incomplete
After i received the device, i could figure out:
Huawei does not seem to have global warranty support == you need to send in the device for any form of repairs to the country where it is originally from.
My device seems to be from Taiwan, but that is just conjecture by me because the packaging has a URL from Taiwan on it. Alas, the Taiwanese Huawei site is one of the few that does not have online warranty check and when i sent an email to them from the webpage to inquire about my warranty status, i never got a reply. Maybe they can not or do not want to talk english. Or deal with overseas sold units customers.
Aka: i guess i am pretty much out of luck wrt. warranty unless i learn chinese and jump into a plane to taipeh. Which could be fun . But i guessed something like that to be the situation before i bought the phone, so no big surprise.
i got my mate 9 pro from ebay too. and it's also from taiwan. it's the gray one and it's only $878 + intl express shipping. i think it's the cheapest gray mate 9 pro coz some sellers from aliexpress sells it for even more than $1000 coz it's very rare. and they are selling the chinese version too. mine's international, i got it after 5 days here in new zealand via dhl. didn't have pay any import dutiesas well. the seller only sold 4 of these and i was one of the luckiest to grab the sale. here's the link:

That is a great price! Gray does seem to cost a lot more because it's unavailable mostly... there's a AL00 (China) model open box on eBay, but I'm afraid of dealing with annoyances from buying a Chinese model.
I've just ordered the gold via Amazon Prime for $889. At least that way I actually CAN easily return the phone and get my money back if I don't like it... or if Huawei does a release in the U.S. soon I won't get screwed.

I just checked your link, Porsche was there, no Pro. One said it was a Pro, and I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the Pro is 6GB of memory, and the one listed said 4 GB.
A The only reason I would want a Pro is for 6GB of memory.

There are 2 variants of the pro: 4/64GB and 6/128GB.

Pre-ordered Thread

Hey guys,
Just pre-ordered mine in the UK. Wondering who else has ordered and what specifically brought you to this phone?
I also pulled the trigger on an unlocked P20 Pro from Clove UK, only to quickly cancel my preorder. The issue for me is whether the unlocked UK variant will support T-Mobile's VOLTE in North America. Once I confirm this, I'll go ahead and buy the phone.
I want to - but I haven't seen the gradient color for PO anywhere. Have you all?

Is this dual sim you know, if yes I'm all over it.... Ta!
For UK guys and gals, I don't know that clove will get you the Bose headphones on pre order. I couldn't see it on the clove website anyway. I've ordered mine from Carphone Warehouse for that reason.
I couldn't see if it was duel aim or single SIM if I'm honest.
Edit: whilst it doesn't say if it's the duel SIM variant on Carphone Warehouse, it does say there is an SD card slot which I believe is only on the duel SIM variant as a hybrid duel SIM. Alternatively you could order from elsewhere and get the duel SIM variant?

I know, right. I wish they offered the Twilight version. That thing is incredible.

Too bad Carphone doesn't ship to the US
Yeah I would have preferred the twilight version. It is available on the Huawei website but they are asking another £50 for it. Unless I could find it else where at £799 with the Bose headphones then I'm going to stick with black...

Hopefully we'll find out soon if the unlocked version will support VOLTE in North America.

Do we know if the single SIM variant will have the ability for SD cards? If not, I guess the Carphone Warehouse site is incorrect.
It is showing that this phone is running on Android 8.0 rather than 8.1 so it's already got something else wrong...

I am waiting for it to launch in India
I'm new to the Huawei scene, how are they will releasing kernel sources in a timely manner and are there many Devs of on previous Huawei devices (to get a feel of what development might be like). I guess treble will improve things as well in that area.

just pre-ordered (netherlands)
Was ready to pull the trigger on a mate 10 pro, but this came out. Why? I really want the monochrome camera, and this has _more camera_... Also - black. That blue/purple isn't available, otherwise I'd have ordered it.
As rav101 said I’m new to Huawei I’ve been with HTC seemingly since time began. A strong Dev community is a big plus sell for me.
I’d have dismissed the P20 Pro due to lack of headphone jack and looked at the Samsung S9 or wait to see what
One Plus 6 has to offer but the free Bose headphone’s for pre-orders cancels out my lack of jack phobia as they are the best wireless noise cancelling headphones around. Cetainly sweetens the deal.
I’m looking at pre-ordering via mobiles.co.uk as they seem to offer the best contract deals: 02 – 15GB, £38 a month and £49 for phone.
For those looking to pre-order, use on of these approved retailers for the free headphones!: https://huaweipromo.co.uk/gb/en/pages/p20bose/qualifying-retailers
Preordered mine via Mobiles.co.uk
Includes the headphones as well and works out less than RRP if cashbacks pay but also includes a 4GB/24 month contract with Vodafone. Total price at £750 including contract after cashback, £792 if it doesn't pay out.
£240 upfront and then £23 a month.
Link to deal I posted up on Hotdeals here

I didn't realise very.co.uk was included. Through my work I think I can get 7% discount bringing the price down to £743 and still get the free headphones. Result for a phone only price without any contract!

To clarify , none of the models have support for micro sd cards. None. Unfortunately, many website and retailers have incorrect info. You either buy a single Nano sim or dual nano sim version.
In the UK, you can pre order a dual sim version from Three UK. As far as I know , they nabbed an exclusive on this.
To see list of qualifying retailers in the UK for the Bose Headphones look here https://huaweipromo.co.uk/gb/en/pages/p20bose/qualifying-retailers
