I'm using P40 Lite (EMUI 10.1) but I can't find Private Space settings. I searched everywhere with no luck. Maybe it's a missing feature on the Lite.
Can somebody with P40 Pro confirm that Private Space exists on their phone (or not)?

On P40 Lite, there is no Private Space under Privacy Settings or elsewhere.
Maybe Huawei dropped out this feature from the Lite version.
I can't find any reliable information about this because XDA has no P40 Lite dedicated forum, that's why I asked on P40 Pro forum.
Thanks.

Ah sorry to hear it!
I guess it was dropped for that model for whatever reason which is a shame as I don't use it and you clearly would like it so should have just been on both models.

To be honest, I quit using it a couple a months ago and passed it to my father (he really hates Google ecosystem). He needed to know if Private Space was there but he doesn't an XDA account.
I couldn't live without a few Google apps (and its services needed by third-party apps) that wouldn't run properly.
Other than this, the Lite is a wonderful piece of technology. I'm sure you'll find plenty of reviews on the web.

I just switched back to stock ROM, on the AL00 CN Mate 20 X, and they seemed to have gotten rid of most of the things I disliked. Mainly that Google Pay is working now if you install it from the Huawei App store while setting region to China.
Google assistant doesn't activate with 'okay Google' command, and can only use stock launcher. If I could get a fix on these 2, that would make this my complete phone. Won't hold my breath though.

i have same issue p30 pro in owner account play store working well without any issue. but in private space unable to login my google account.
any update on this topic? anybody managed to get google services working in private space?
on my mediapad m6 10.8, google services are working flavlessly on private space, just tested it.
the tablet is currently on latest firmware 10.1.0.165
i do not remember on which firmware it was when i got it and when i installed the google services (it originally comes without GMS)
fact is that so far i have only used the main space, just today i created a private space to see that google services are already there when you create it. I also could login with my account without any issues, by simply pressing the google play icon and loging in.
maybe this helps someone
on my P40 it seems to be way more difficult.
i manage to get my main and private space to be set up with each its own google account if i do it quickly during the process as per this instruction:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fTIZFehwlw
unfortunately, i found no way yet to get rid of the google play protect notofication errors...

HI, it's working for me on mate 30 pro. Tell me if you still looking for. Thanks
Hi folks,
I am very interested in the P40 Pro, but as many others I am concerned on what will be missing when I would try to get along without GMS.
A few things have not been covered in the many documents and videos I checked, so maybe users already well versed in the Huawei Non-GMS way can help here
- I am using a 3rd party calendar (Calengoo), would this be able to sync to Google calendar without GMS? I specifically use Google calender in sync with my family, would that be possible without GMS?
- I assume all purchases (in-app or Pro versions) are directly linked to Google Playstore, so no way around without it - or is there a way (e.g. with Yalp)?
- access to Google Drive and specifically WhatsApp backups - any luck without GMS?
- syncing of Google Contacts (continously, not just one-time) without GMS - possible?
Please accept my apologies if all this has been answered elsewhere - in that case a short pointer would be much appreciated!
Thanks for your help,
Axel
not sure if you missed my post but everything you need for alternatives is here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p40-pro/how-to/google-alternatives-live-gms-t4081351
now you can make your life easier and just install gms on your phone so you can slowly transition from being without gms so your phone function like what you expect it to be.
Dear xnostra,
Thanks for your reply and the link to your excellent guide which I (of course) have seen and read and it indeed was one of the things that helped me much in understanding have to manoeuvre around lack of GMS.
My questions in the first post are not so much around software functionalities which can be replaced,as your guide indicates!
I was wondering whether some of the syncing (Calendar and contacts specifically) can also be done without GMS, using other apps for contacts and calendar to access my Google account.
Thanks,
Axel

hi sorry to make the answer short all the things you mention will not work without gms unfortunately. thats why as you see in my previous answer i mentioned ``to make your life easier just install gms`` before you install those apps youll need to install gms otherwise they will not work as expected.
I really really want a P40 Pro and could quite happily replace most of the things I use Google for (I was iCloud anyway for a long time) The 2 biggies though that I believe cannot be properly worked around are Google photos and Google pay.
It is really frustrating as I am very disappointed with my (Exynos) S20+ and the Pixel still falls short, the P40 is overwise terrific. I am actualluy thinking of picking up another P30 pro instead but then as I uderstand there are no guarantees that google support will remain on that either?

p30 pro is not affected by the ban it will function as how its intended to from android updates google playstore and everything.
check my guide on finding alternative solution for your google apps its in the p40 guide section.
i had s20 ultra before i sold it after 5 days it was exynos and i feel scammed on it it functioned very bad compared to a snapdragon.

I thought the P30 only still worked because of an extension and that extension was not guaranteed?

I have P40 Pro for some time now and will share what I know to Your questions
-Phone Clone - moves nearly everything from my P30 pro to P40 including calendar data, call logs, contacts, sms etc. so the calendar is fine - but local!
-Purchased apps - I have several - they work (one is asking for some verification but nonintrusive ) of course No updates
-I did not try
-sure NOT
I was perfectly happy wit P30 Pro but both P40 Pro not only for camera But to try a world without GMS - It exists and works - but it's not the same - I missed Google Duo (I can install it from Amazon but can't connect), in a long term I expect some inconveniences - as I have some subscription apps and they'll expire eventually...
I think the prospect of android without the google services does actually have some appeal but I fear in real life losing things like photos, Netflix and Google pay would be frustrating.

Sure, but my experiment is to live Without GMS and for now, life is good
I actually have a P30 Pro, if I buy a P40 Pro and I clone all my settings to the new P40 pro, will I have the Google services?
No, You want! I did it p30 pro to P40 pro - everything was moved BUT ring tones (custome) google chrome and wallpaper
I'm sorry, but I'm not getting if it's possible or not.
Did you were able to have Google play store in the p40? Gmail? Youtube? Maps?

NO, I have NO Google services and Google play store
Thank you.
Huawei support told me the same, you can have couple apps, but not the whole package.
I'm afraid I will not buy the amazing p40 pro, I'm sad.
May be a Xiaomi Mi 10 pro?

My friend did it: installed Google Play Store/Services on P40 Pro. You can not clone from P30 Pro -> P40 Pro to get Google works
After cloning, will Google Pay work? That is, will the phone pass safetynet test?
I have install google gms on my p40 pro, then used phone-clone from my p30 pro. All apps except g-pay works. Maps, contacts, calendar, drive, the lot. Even my banking app and bankid on mobile.
Just not g-pay but I can live without that one ??
When I try to add a card g-pay states that I have root access or that the phone has been otherwise altered ?

Can i ask which banking apps are working for you? I am getting mine tomorrow and trying to decide if its better installing gsm first, then clone. Or the other way around
It is Norwegian bank apps.
I have tried both approach, gms then phone-clone and vice versa.
My experience is that gms on a "empty" phone works best.
Obviously, the phone fails Android SafetyNet Test. You can search in Play Store and download an app to test yours out.
update
Confirm! Updated to .114 yesterday, all Google stuff work as it did.
personally me google play music doesn't work
So, does the phone pass Android SafetyNet Test now? Can check please?
I don't know about safetynet stuff, but my Gpay is working fine.
Did 2 purchases to date, both worked on first try.

The Payment wallet bkash QR code not reading by my P40 pro. Anyone know solution to this please
Problem solved after updating latest play services 20.39.15 version?
Fitbit pay works perfectly without GMS. I am using a Fitbit Sense with my P40 pro the only part that is not working is the display of maps during exercise as they require GMS.
