Google Voice Search is using device language instead of language set in google app - General Topics

Since few months ago, voice search in google maps, chrome, youtube, etc has been barely working. It would search/recognize my voice using my device language instead of the language I have set in the google app.
Using voice search in the google app seems fine since it uses the google assistant "popup layout" and gboard is fine too.
My main issue here is that my device language is Chinese Traditional (Hong Kong) which usually means traditional text but mandarin language, but what I have set in the google app was Cantonese (Hong Kong).
It started happening ever since April 2020 when google announced they are going to replace the pre-assistant voice search UI with assistant UI.
If there are any questions, please feel free to reply, Thanks!

Google Maps keeps switching TTS voice

Hello everybody,
i usually use a lot Google Maps and i've always been annoyed by this thing: i've installed IVONA Text-to-Speech HQ (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivona.tts) (which i suggest because it's great) as my default TTS Engine, but Google Voice keeps switching between Ivona and his internal TTS (the Google one, i think).
So, 10 phrases are said by IVONA, 2 or 3 by Google, and so on for all the trip.
I hate it, mostly because the Google TTS can't spell (italian) road names and gives only vague informations.
I've even tried to freeze Pico-TTS with Titanium, but it doesn't change a thing.
Any suggestions?

Help with Google's text-to-speech

I'm running Android 4.4.2 on a Nexus 5. In the settings for Google TTS voice data I have downloaded and selected the high quality male voice for English UK. The "listen to an example" option confirms this.
But when I go to Play Books and "read aloud" the voice is still the female american voice.
In the voice options for Google Now I can select English (UK) as my location but I get the female British voice.
The voice for Maps navigation has not changed either.
How do I get these apps to use Google's own speech synthesis engine?

The dev emailed me this morning to say his mysteriously started working in the HD English voice. I have sent him a logcat, will see what he come back with.

Ok Google not working

I tried downgrading Google app, delete Google catch and data, restarts, checked that voice&audio activity is on via the website, defualt language for google products is english usa, voice & search language is eng usa, checked microphone permission is on, google tts is on, offline voice is up to date, Tried to convert to system app.
What else can I do?

Google Assistant now uses 2 voices at the same time... how can I change this?

Im a UK Pixel 2 XL user and having trouble switching Google Assistant "fully" to the US voice. I stress the word "fully." Despite switching languages to "English US" in General Settings and Google Assistant settings, Google Assistant fails to fully use the US voice. It replies in the US voice for certain responses including web searches but for when it comes to local weather updates it sticks with the default British voice. I never had this issue with the Nexus phones. Any idea? Thanks!
