Go into the Nova settings, up the top should be the option to make it your default launcher.

not working. it opens Home screen default page where I cannot select Nova
Won't work - this phone is seriously locked down. You can try to force the launcher off using adb (look it up if you don't know what it is), but didn't work for me.

We need some more info. What ROM are you using? Did you remove the widgets yourself? If so, what did you remove them with?
Come back with this and we can give you options.
I had installed the super clean rom but reverted back to stock and installed launcherpro but win i go to add widgets it no longer gives me the option to for samsung

OK. That's because you are using Launcher Pro as your home launcher. As I recall, you must use TouchWiz as the home launcher to use Samsung Widgets. I've tried, just now, with Launcher Pro, ADW, ADW EX, and TouchWiz with only TouchWiz allowing it.

The easiest way to switch between launchers is to download Home Switcher from the market. This way you can pick a default and/or launch any of them that you have installed.
awesome man thanks for you help.

I would go into settings and then launcher settings and see if you can create a new shortcut to the app drawer. Or hold down anywhere on your homescreen and choose the option for your launcher, and create a shortcut to the app drawer.
To get the stock launcher back, go into settings>apps or the play store and uninstall go launcher.

i know how to get back to the stock launcher but since the stock launcher has its app drawer missing its not much use to me..
i just got lucky i had the google play app on my home screen... otherwise i would have had to re-flash the rom... which i dont want honestly...

So you mean the stock launcher has the app drawer missing, oh that is a problem, considering I didn't think that was possible.
here is the original thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121036
I read your post wrong, the stock launcher for the custom rom should be Nova or apex, if it isnt go. The only thing I could suggest is the longpress on the homescreen. I hope there is a launcher settings in your rom, and if there is check to make sure that longpress actions arent disabled for the homescreen.
softkeys open default launcher instead of my nova launcher. any fix?

Go to Settings>apps>all
Fing the stock launcher and tap on it
Tap Clear Defaults.
Or you can just reinstall Nova Launcher, then press home, android will show a window to select default launcher.

Can you explain this a little more? I love google launcher, but only four icons now seems silly with this big screen!
Aviate launcher is a must for me.

I use Apex Launcher with Ubuntu Apex Theme which I like, only one thing that annoys me ... it's the EMUI back and home button reverts back to the EMUI launcher. How can I change that?

Protected apps too + Enable on startup management. Reboot eventually.
No problem with Nova Launcher
can you change icons on a moto g7 power or change or improve the stock launcher without rooting?
Yes you can make any launcher the default. Try Nova Launcher or Lawnchair

Use Apex launcher with the Arc icon pack. It's beautiful!!!
Check out SquareHome 3. It's so good I paid for it, which is rare on my part.
