You can switch slots via reboot menu in OFR
I am using 3.3.1.79 mauronofrio i select the zip its starts flashing phone reboots back to recovery with no changes am i doing something wrong?

You have to flash the OrangeFox zip through TWRP 3.3.1 for now. Flashing it through 3.4.0 won't keep the recovery after a reboot.

I flashed straight from this one and it works fine.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ma...-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img/download
You can also try flashing the IMG file via fastboot just like TWRP and then flashing the zip in OFR to make it stick
so i installed 3.3.1.0 and id doesent mount my data partition no matter if i disable the screen lock it doesent ask to decript the data anyway,i did what you said and booted the orange fox it worked but when i flashed it it still rebooted back to stock twrp
Any chance of this working with our dualboot options?
It is not working for me too, followed all the steps, even tried fastboot method, still it reboots back to old recovery.Does it need oos boot image?
Nop,oos didn't make a change
More than likely this thread will be locked soon. They did this with the one plus 6 and 6t. They posted this in the 6t thread but it was only for one plus 6. They have a history of creating threads in wrong devices and having threads closed by mods which is why people can't get this to work. I'm using it works only on one model, the 7, 7pro, 7T or 7tpro
im using it. flash the img first as recovery. then flash zip. reboots to orangefox Profit

After hitting that link, I don't think I'll be trying this.

Exactly I did the same and work like charm. For those who didn't get it.
1) download the zip and the image file.
2)boot to twrp
3) change to flash img file and flash the img to the ramdisk recovery partition.
4) after installation reboot to recovery.
5) you will reboot to the Orange recovery although its not permanent so flash the zip file with the recovery.
It will reboot itself to new recovery.

This recovery support miui OTA updates?
[Edit] yup, is supported.
Thanks for bringing this to Whyred, had it on my Mido, and i loved it.
Just in time for my bootloader getting unlocked, been using OrangeFox on vince since it was out. Thanks for this.
I also used this recovery on my mido and loved it. Thank you for bringing it to whyred too. May I ask, backing up internal storage will also backup system data or only the apps data? I'm asking because if it doesn't include system files, then it will be great for switching among roms because I will only take one flash to get all my apps and data again. But keeping previous rom's data will cause conflict.

All it backs up is the contents of your internal SD (eg, your photos, videos, files, etc) - the things that don't get backed up when you backup your data partition.
Where does the preferences for fox is saved? How to go back to the stock settings it came with? I've tried deleting fox files from internal, flashed twrp and reflashed fox, but the fox preferences & settings doesn't go back to default.
And can anybody confirm if restore is working? Or Does fox not able to restore twrp backups?
works fine for the arb anti 4?
thanks you sir for making it for our lovely whyred...
i think many people like if you make a flyme os port for our whyred..

Was wondering the same thing. Used this recovery on my vince, and even after a full fastboot flash of the latest miui (deleted everything, including recovery), after i install OrangeFox again, its settings are still there.
I don't know about TWRP backups in Fox.
How to install OTA updates using this recovery?I'm new to this and going to root my phone today.
Edit:
I read the provided link and understood. Now If i update through ota, then will i lose root and magisk?

1. The easy but "nuclear" option: go to the OrangeFox menu, and selected "Del OF Files"; you will need to reinstall the OrangeFox zip installer after this
2. The fiddly but non-nuclear option: delete /sdcard/Fox/.foxs, and /persist/.foxs

And recovery will be intact after ota or i have to reflash recovery?

I don't know. I think it has.
I had miui global 11.3.5.0 PFCEUXM then I installed mi-globe.com_v11_pyxis_20.1.16 from miui rom builder site. I had a twrp backup of 11.3.5 and flashed it back. I had to pay an authorised account user to flash stable eu rom in edl mode. (no fastboot no recovery).
fastboot getvar anti returns value "1" so I thought it's ok.

hi @SebaUbuntu ,
great that this project exists! I'd definetly like to test this recovery for j4 core.
but am a bit confsd. there are some recoverys in the net, claiming to be for this device but are for j4, j4 plus, etc.
none of them worked for me when I tested. so I did some research & found out, that these devices have a different processor & ramdisk(size).
now I want to ask you, if it's really neccessary that they have the same processor & ramdisk(size) to be compatible for different devices as a recovery. I think yes, but maybe I'm wrong.
the second question I have is: do I need a twrp already installed before I can flash your recovery, or can I flash it right away? can I (try to) flash orange fox recovery through odin or through commandline? and where can I find a working twrp for this device -j4 core- ?
did you or somebody else already test the recovery & found it is working?

hi @SebaUbuntu ,
great that this project exists!

Yeah, recoveries are device-specific, you can't install a recovery for another phone on j4corelte, this is for j4corelte, already tested, and official
To install this you first need to flash TWRP by kapmino269, then flash this as a zip file
Or you can extract recovery.img, repack it in a tar file and flash it with Odin, but TWRP method is easier
hey, it works for me, too & it's awesome - the recovery of the future! keep up the good work & thank you so much! ?
may I link to it in my thread (have a thread for j4 core with root guide)?
/data is not mounted in recovery, same for internal storage. tried many times.
now I'm searching for a workaround to remove encryption without losing my files...
does aroma manager work with this device & could it possibly help? on older androids this often fixed problems when the /data or internal storage partitions were not mounting.
or is there a command to force mount /data & remove encryption? I've read smth like this on stackexchange. mh, not sure. will do some research tho.
will there be an update for orangefox for j4core?

Format data (not wipe!)
Then flash this:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603865586
This will disable encryption on stock ROM

Backup in android 10 custom rom is no use.
When I backup /data and /system even whole things.
Then edit /system and /data.
Try to restore and stuck at booting.

I don't know. I will try it next time.
Backup data and system.
Dirty flash AICP rom update, reboot successed.
Then wipe data and system, restore data and system, waste 8% battery and still failure.
I remember I can change OS between root and unroot OS with redwolf recovery few years ago.
Is anyone restore recovery backup successed?

Yes.
1. Wiped everything except Internal Storage.
2. Restored Data, System Image, Vendor Image and Boot.
3. Manually deleted lockscreen PIN through recovery as it doesn't work after boot.
