Hey bro i get this app from the market Honeybar it work great with root access.
I work with touchwiz work 100%.
Program tested MX Video Player,Dolphin Browser HD.
It works well and I suggest using Button Savior in conjunction. Barely seen my taskbar in a week
Works pretty well, main problems I have with it are accidentally re-enabling the taskbar in games (tapping near the bottom), and also accidentally hiding it when trying to hit the 'menu' button in portrait mode. They're too close together so it's hard to avoid hitting it.
I asked the author about the possibility of other trigger locations, or gestures, and he responded but didn't sound like he planned to do anything soon.
I installed HB myself, and although it is nice in some ways to get the taskbar (I use that reference with tongue'in'cheeck) out of the way, there are too many apps I have that place "menu" in the location of the hidden button even when I set it to shift left. Many apps I have to rotate to landscape to get to the apps settings menu hidden behind the shift-left positioning for HB. It's just not a sound UI choice.
The option to just leave the taskbar hidden and use Button Savior is better, but it's like using one hack to make another one work halfway correctly in its effects. HB needs more development and it doesn't look like it's going to happen as of now.

Thanks very much for your info. Yeah... this Button Savior is a real true name in case of the HoneyBar's gone somewhere..
Problem I see with using Button Savior all the time is that you do lose the notifications.. and then it's still easy to accidentally bring back the real bar when playing games etc. Oh well.

I don't know about the games... the notification is hiding except the sound but the real trouble is when the call is coming.... you have to activate the task bar to bring back the panel "Answer or Denied" (!!!)
FYI

I did indeed get quite angry at the loss of notifications but I was able to (sort of) get around that by changing the screen density to 171 using Blade Buddy. This set me back to a 2.x launcher.
It doesn't really work 100% however as browser, Gmail, Google Talk will constantly crash. I was able to work around the browser by just getting another browser and Gmail by uninstalling the Honeycomb version of Gmail and installing the Gingerbread version. I didn't care enough to do anything more than uninstall Google Talk.
On the positive side I no longer have to deal with the taskbar. Ever.

Does the Gingerbread version have the Gingerbread UI? i.e. without the multi-paned stuff? I tried loading a Gingerbread version a while back but it didn't work (just crashed). I prefer Gingerbread style -- more room for the content rather than lists of labels.

Yes this is exactly my only issue with honeybar. it would be nice if we could choose the right side as the "offset". Even in portrait I have space just to the right of center that would allow access to honeybar on/off and not interfere with the menu on a lot of apps.
There's a much better way to do this. Using tasker, I have a profile set up that auto hides the toolbar for certain apps and then restores it automatically when I switch away from them.
Follow the instructions in this thread:

Yes but how do you switch away from them?
That is actually what I am trying to figure out how to do. I am trying to set it up when in specific apps it takes away the task bar but also only within these apps after something... (haven't really figured that out yet) happens it will bring it back for an exit. In a perfect world I would love to be able to press both volume buttons to close an app. Which in this case would be perfect but tasker can't do that...
I'm using task switcher pro. It lets you map a gesture to the back button or home button.

what might be cool is to "shake" device to bring back the bar.
you guy also can use AutomateIt... kind of like tasker but to me it more friendly user...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123423
and the pro version is cheaper too...
Using tasker I did manage to make the bar go away by shaking. Instead of setting programs to do it make it toggle the bar by using a shake. I don't have it in front of me to do step by step but if someone wants me to I can put it up.
I would most certainly love to see that "How too" Zadeis.
Thanks.
Here you go!

OK the link smaug408 put up leads to a guide on how to set up a task that when an App starts it will remove the bar at the bottom. The thing is though you no longer have a back button and get out of the app unless it has a dedicated exit button.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301857
I take no credit for the premade files for tasker. The thanks goes to the creator Quietthinker through that link.
-First Open the link and download the attached StatusBarToggle.zip and place the files into /sdcard/Tasker/tasks (in this case you will only need the StatusBarToggle.tsk.xml, the StatusBar_Hide.tsk.xml, and the StatusBar_Show.tsk.xml files)
-Second open tasker and go to the "tasks tab" and tap and hold the Tasks Tab at the top. An options window will come up but select Import and import all of them into tasker
-Third go to the profiles tab and tap the Green plus at the left and give it a name. ShakeToToggle can work but you can name it whatever you like.
A context window will popup and you will select Event and then the Sensor Category and finally select the Shake Event.
You can mess around with the setting for the shake gesture now or tweak it in to your liking after everything is set up up to you.
-Forth once you have the setting you like press the green check mark, select the StatusBarToggle task and you are done. Now when you shake your tablet side to side it will make the status bar go away.
Now I just happened to figure out that you can shake instead of using an app for the context. I take little credit for how this works.
This method requires Super User Permissions. It will ask on the first toggle of the bar if you allow it to remember it afterward, if not it will ask each time.
Great app. Works perfectly
Serious FLAW w/ Huawei Phone Manager - "Recent Apps" & 3rd party App Startup - HELP!
Hi,
I am having a 2 MAJOR deal-breaker issues with my GEM-703L B112 EMUI 3.1:
* Startup Apps (including Alarm Clocks, Hangouts, 3rd party Email client) don't start after a reboot resulting in missing notifications
* Protected Apps (including Alarm Clocks, Hangouts, 3rd party Email client) get killed/closed when "flicking up" to clear all apps using Recent Apps button resulting in missing notifications
The culprit of this issue seems to be Huawei's Phone Manager. All apps mentioned above are set as Protected Apps, Trusted permissions, allowed all notifications, and background data is enabled.
If anyone has a solution for this issue, *PLEASE* help! I really love the phone but must have this resolved since these are VITAL, especially for my alarm clock - not waking up for work is not an option!
I will be rooting once I get the bootloader unlocked via unlock code from Huawei at which time this issue can be fixed by making these important apps as system apps (thanks to ajsmsg78 for the suggestion as well), but until that time and for many of those who are and won't be rooted, a solution is clearly very badly needed.
Lastly, I believe this issue also exists for other Huawei phones having EMUI such as the P8, etc.

Thanks for your reply trurl3, my energy saving level is set to "Performance" which is the least aggressive level, but I cannot find this "Power Genie" app. Where would this be found through?

Thanks hagba.
UPDATE: strangely enough, my startup apps have now slowly started to start up after reboot but not right away. As I do not yet have root on this device, I simply cannot explain why in the world this positive change had happened. I am almost afraid to reboot again because I will be frustrated if/when they do not start up.
The app that I really need to start up is called Alarm Clock Xtreme which is my goto Alarm app for years now. At first it was not showing the permanent notification in the notifications and the Alar, would not go off. Now after a few minutes after reboot it is showing up. Not sure what is going on here code-wise.
Anyone have any input here or a solution for the Recent Apps button killing Protected Apps?

Was a problem on the X1 I had as well. Things like google hangouts would get closed and you'd never get notifications, even if it was set as a protected app. From what I can tell only the Huawei apps are truly protected...
You have to root and get a rom with the phone manager removed.
And even then, some things still get closed once in a while, which is odd. There's is plenty of free memory, so not sure why the Huawei phones mess up the memory management so much.
This Huawei memory management issue is really the only bad thing about this phone... Android has a great memory manager built in, don't mess with it
Otherwise, its perfect for me...

Thanks omniphil, I'm wondering if this particular issue could be worked around since startup apps are working but only after a delay (see "UPDATE" above) by having a third party app monitor if a process is killed or having a Tasker profile to relaunch it right away, but then we are back in the same paradox where that third party app or Tasker profile would also be killed when "flicking up" to kill all apps.
@ajsmsg78 , @elio321 , @mcdhol_24 , @hagba , @Djiban:
Perhaps there is a certain third party app or Tasker profile can designate itself with "priority" mode of some sort and can bind itself to notifications or accessibility so that it would be relaunched? Please note I am just brainstorming here! Input would be gladly appreciated...

Hi All and @ajsmsg78, @elio321, @mcdhol_24, @hagba, @Djiban, @omniphil,
I have noticed that unlike my other Protected apps, my SwiftKey keyboard app does not get killed when flicking up to close all apps using the Recent Apps button. I understand that this is obviously because the selected keyboard is required to stay in memory, but can't this or similar exception be leveraged to keep a Tasker profile in memory to relaunch critical apps?
Surely I am not the only unrooted user with this issue!
Thanks again.
I think the big question is, why are you swiping up to kill all apps? They aren't running in the background anyways, they are just place holders. There isn't really any need to kill all the background apps in android anymore, it uses more battery life. Just leave them all there and let android do what it was designed to do

Hi omniphil, I see what you are saying but killing unused apps does improve the device speed and save on battery usage including background data consumption. I understand that memory is automatically managed by killing apps when more memory is required but the above is not considered in this - just memory.
I fixed this issue by freezing the phone manager through titanium backup. I was also breaking my head over keeping the apps running in the background even if they were killed in the multitasker area. You do need to be rooted to use titanium backup. Hope this helps, it sure fixed the issue for me.
want an app to not be closed by swiping up? on the app itself, on the recents screen, swipe it down. now there's an icon showing on it, right? that means it won't be closed when you do the swipe up to close all apps.

I am having the same problem with Google. Everyime I do the same, Google which acts as the home button closes. I haven't been able to find a fix.
Guys,
I am using Waze app to navigate around town, but since I have installed android 7.0 on my S7, the app closes after a while when I lock the screen. I use this for when I ride my motorcycle. I use earphones to listen to the instructions that the app gives me, I do not however want my screen to be turned on and unlocked when the phone is in my pocket. Do you guys have any idea how to prevent Waze from closing whenever I lock the screen?
Thanks in advance
You could try adding Waze to the "Unmonitored apps" in Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > (Scroll to the bottom) > Unmonitored Apps > Add Apps
See if that prevents Nougat from automatically killing it
This sadly didn't work for me, appreciate your time though
This could be a Nougat specific thing, I know people have complained that leaving multiple apps in the background as recent apps results in Nougat closing all but 6 of them, with no way to prevent it, might be worth giving Samsung a shout on Twitter, or contact Waze devs to see if they have a workaround
Good luck
I am going to contact waze about this. If anyone in the meantime strumbles up on a solution or possible workaround, please keep me posted!
Hi guys, I recently updated to 10. Stock rooted, TWRP. 70 and Magisk 19.4, no more no less.
I don't use stock launcher (deleted). Used Apex Launcher every since my first OP3T. On Android 9 I could open an app, double tapped the backbutton twice (set that commando as "Split Screen") go back to home screen, open a second app and ... Boom ... 2 apps on screen.
When I do this in Android 10 (set back button double tap to Split Screen, it does show two horizontal stripes, but literally EVERY app I open gives feedback: "This app doesn't suppory split screen" (although they did in Android 9).
Anyone to help please?

Did you trie this?
This option comes from pie. Do you have it on Android 10th?
In developer options select Force activities to be resizable
Hi guys! I did not have this option turned on, did it right away. Now things got even stranger:
- in portrait mode it still does not work
- in landscape it DOES work. And if I place 2 apps next to each other in landscape and turn back to portrait, they stay
But since I use this feature mainly in my car (in a non-turnable phone holder) - it wouldn't be wise to keep doing it with this crazy workaround.
So did your tips help: definitely. Did they solve it? No. Very funny but nothing to laugh about.

Im still postponing with Android 10 update.
I like Android 10 futures however split screen I use a lot. I use even kodi in split screen.
That's not good that you can't do it.
Maybe it's just a hick-up on my device. Let's wait what others have to say. I made a Nandroid, thinking I could go back, but I believe it doesn't work that way. Since a clean install is not an option, I stuck in 10.

I tried Tiles (purchased that years ago) and unfortunately have to confirm that it is still the same. I CAN choose a second app but ONLY in landscape modus. Ridiculous.
Can any one else confirm how this is on their Android 10?
just tested it on the Android Q CB and split screen is working fine for me without having enabled the resize stuff in the devopts

Does all apps work for you in split windows?
I have the exact same problem, the splitscreen option does not seem to work whenever I used one of the buttons (long press or double tap) set to open/close splitscreen.
splitscreen does work in the recent apps window, opening it by the 3 dot menu... but this takes me a lot longer.
