I am looking to purchase this phone, but I've heard that there are several phones manufactured by Xiaomi and Oppo that has built-in Ads, and they pop up every now and then on the notification bar and lockscreen. Any similar issues for find x2 pro? Thanks
Nothing here for me.
No ads here man. Not a single one
I can confirm there isn't a single ad in my Find X2 Pro. Bloatware is almost non-existent as well.
Thanks for your replies, are you guys on the global or Chinese ROM? I am suspecting those Chinese version might have it.
Global.
Chinese version has more bloatware, but dk about ads.
Probably also not, since this idea is ridiculous for me.
Thanks all, it looks like there are no built-in ads on this phone!
The chinese manufacturers who put built in apps usually do it on the cheaper devices to sell it at a lower price.
I have seen phones from realme and xiaomi do this, even on the flagship xiaomi mi 10....
If oppo brings ads into this phone (probably not) I will be infuriated and likely go back to ios, but for now everything is great.
Ads

hi,
it is very interesting, regarding this very phone but also having in mind other brands like xiaomi, from my experience i can tell that this model is indeed free from ads, however i does not represent entire picture of android eco-system, as such like app or browser, i was testing lots of different adblockers, and there is no
easy way to make your phone free of ads entirely.
me - personal choice is blokada from f-droid app, only to be found and install using browser (any browser)
so, the phone itself is very clean and nice android experience (with system color os free of ads) however it does not make it free if have in mind applications or browser..

As titled, these few phablets appears to be in very similar price where I live. Having a hard time choosing which.
My old phone is a Vivo Xplay 3s and I am looking for an alternative of that since they are not getting android 5.0 and I soft-brake it.
I mainly use my phone for web browsing, what's app, music and reads quite a lot of e-book on it.
I switched to the big brand for more roms and stuff to choose from and please feel free to suggest other similar phones that you think will suit me
P.S. I like messing with my phone and hitting it with new softwares
Thank you
Hi Guys,
i just bought a BV5000 because it has decent hardware, is kinda rugged, waterproof and has a huge battery and costs only around 150EUR.
But the problem is, IMHO like with most android devices.... the software sucks!
There are no encryption options, I sometimes get popups that it wants to install an app that has been blocked by google play because its fraud,
the preinstalled apps are trash, and the theme is horribly ugly!
So maybe someone already found a replacement for this ROM?
Searching the net I couldn't.... so i'm giving this forum a shot
Thanks!
Just wondering if anyone is working with the Chinese for this phone? They seem to be putting out some interesting ROM's... I'm wondering if they're safe?
http://bbs.nubia.cn/forum-737-1.html
Managed to find a CM13 on there that actually works with Mobile Data for China Unicom....also CM14.
Every Chinese handset I've purchased has come with root level malware, so no I wouldn't trust them.

I would rather a country I will never visit intercept my calls than the country I live in... Just saying.. A cellphone IS a piece of malware... Socially Engineered into our everyday "existence" that is Acme-dubbed "Reality." And a re-partition will cure any root level anything... IMHO the AsiaPhones have always been superior. After all, that is where the tech is made, tested, and leaked....first. Case in point.. The Mi Mix, Elephone P9000, Nubia anythings... And before that Sharp Aquos... Which is ONLY NOW being adapted into the "new"curved or non-existant bezels and edgeless displays... And you don't have asshole conglamos like Samsung and Apple locking up your devices and preventing access to system partitions. Hell.. Some chinese mfgs are MOD and FLASH FRIENDLY!
Be careful where you cast the first stone of hate towards the AsiaPhones...You think that American Labeled older chinese/japanese/korean phone you call new in your hands ISN'T bugged as well?? Uhhhh... how do you think you can find a lost phone? Why do you think companies are no longer allowing batteries to be removed??? Remember.. All your "Anti Virus" software are mfgrd by either American companies, or members of the 5 eyes. Clever, no? OFCOURSE all of the software will auto tag russian and chinese scripts as malware... That is the nature of war and err'ing on the side of caution. I mean, China has been the main, major focus in Western Culture as the "evil hackers" who want to know everything about us.. Well.. Did their govt get assraped by wistleblowers on an embarrasingly high number of times? Did they get exposed to be filtering ALL data traffic EVERYWHERE including ALLIES?
Americaphilism is both sickning and blinding to the rest of humanity. And just how blind society can be to the truth staring them dead in the eyes, yets cleverly disguised with smoke and mirrors and cool flashy gadgets... Don't be a Trump!
After all, after the first, IDK, 3 years of hearing about China being uberh4x0rz I found a new country to point all of my VPNS out from..... So I honestly even wonder how much China traffic is actually CHINA TRAFFIC... It has been said and it is recorded in the Hackmageddon Archives, that I personally accounted for 3% of MALICIOUS TRAFFIC coming out of China from 2010 until I was raided in 2012 due to me scraping China IP blocks and specifically the gov blocks, then utilizing them as the Red Herrings in the operations I was conducting. So I would postulate that roughly 30% of malicious traffic from China is indeed just VPN noize from hackers/hacktavists going with the status quo...

Do you have a link please?
So I caved and I booted up my internet communications and connectivity network desktop machine and hit Amazon. After days of weighing my options I decided on getting the Fire HD 10. I bought a Fire Hd 8 for my mom for Christmas and she loves it and with the HD 10 having slightly better specs and the ability to root I decided to buy it, the Canadian version. I figure with the Amazon branding support and updates would be more frequent than if I opted for a no-name tablet with "better" specs.
Also, I have poor vision and wanted more screen real estate. I have a Tab S 8.4 but battery life isn't great on it. So is the Fire HD 10 gonna be much of an upgrade from that?
Also my original question, are many of you just happy with leaving it alone? I mean after installing Google Play of course.

By and large, yes. Having said that, I've changed the setting to minimize advertising. I've also added the Hacker's Keyboard because the Fire keyboard totally suxs!

As far as I know my tablet won't have ads. It's the Canadian version. And yea, will be using Swiftkey keyboard likely. Is the Hacker's keyboard in the store?
Checked. It is.

I had a TabPro 8.4, which is similar to Tab S but with an LCD screen, before buying the Fire HD 10.
The Fire HD 10 is not really an upgrade as compared to the Samsung, it has a lower quality display, cheaper build (reflective screen, for example) and is quite a lot thicker. However, there are some areas where it's better - mainly much better battery life and performance (providing you debloat it using the methods detailed on these forums). You have to remember that the Fire HD is a third of the price to the Tab S3 in the 10'' size, and it's great value for money in that respect. I've been really pleased with mine.
I haven't rooted my tablet because in the past on rooted devices, I've had trouble with apps such as Netflix. I did try installing google services, but in my experience it made performance worse and the tablet got warmer, so I went back to having a clean, google free and bloat free setup. I do miss a few google apps, but I use YouTube Vanced for YouTube and Kiwi Browser as my main browser, both of which are better than the Google equivalents anyway.
I would consider rooting if I knew it wouldn't break the likes of Netflix, Prime Video and BBC iPlayer, if only to use apps such as Adaway and Afwall.
Using the HD8 here. 2017 model for my wife, and 2018 model for me. Bought them all without ads to begin with so that was never an issue.
Got the Google Play Store and using the LauncherHijack so I can run the Nova Launcher and widgets on my Fire.
No rooting necessary with all that. Of course, at first there was no root, but even with the ability now, I have no desire to go there.
I would say I liked my fire 10 2017 without root but I love it with root. Rooting and debloating is like a night and day difference in terms of performance. No delay when I hit the home button and actual multitasking!

No. It's not the ADs that made it slow. It's all the applications on it (that I wasn't using) taking up ram. Before debloating I would sit from 150M to 200M ram free. Now I can see up to 900M sometime
I have a Fire HD 10 that is NOT rooted and I'm delighted with the performance and capabilities. Here are the things that I've done to it to improvement the experience...
Install Google Services (including the Play Store)
Using adb I did a "pm hide" to disable lockscreen ads and "pm hide" some of the internal apps to debloat it without needing to root it.
Installed Google Home to activate casting to a chromecast.
Installed GBoard keyboard.
Remove the lockscreen ads without root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/general/a-t3820744
"Hide" Amazon apps to "debloat" it without needing root:
(this thread will list the options to hide)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/adb-shell-pm-hide-bloat-amazon-t3221466
Technically, the Amazon apps are still installed so in the strictest sense it isn't debloating it, but the results are comparable... those apps that have been hidden aren't running in the background and are only taking up space..
Using this approach, no need to root, and it is a simple matter of resetting the device to bring it back to factory.

Similar experience with a 2018 HD 8. I have made a few additional tweeks including replacing the stock launcher w/Nova. I own numerous other Android gizmos that are unlocked, rooted and/or running a custom ROM. Control is nice but there's an ongoing maintenance component (varies by device) and the headache of apps that detect root. Overall rather happy the HD 8 as-is ... but I do have other choices.

I ended up installing the Play Store so I could use my beloved Swiftkey.
I also have the Canadian version with hands free Alexa. Is that normal? As mention earlier tho my email is connected to my US and my Canadian Amazon accounts. Maybe you were able to do this when Amazon first opened.

Canadian vs US vs UK is irrelevant w.r.t. Alexa.
No, I am not happy without root. I would like to backup the entire system with apps on my own so that if something happens I can reinstall. Of course wtih root , I would also like TWRP. I would like to find out how to do this without changing my current HD 10 (2017). I am not looking to root to make changes in the current OS. Anyone know if this can be done?
Hi!
First of all, sorry for posting in this thread , but there is no other thread for the Huawei matepad paper.
My question is if there is or will be any custom firmwares for this tablet, because even if its a good e-reader, notetaking device, i don't trust it for handling my private documents, because its Huawei and also it runs Harmony OS.
Maybe my answer comes after 1,5 a month, but I'll give You my 5 cents. Unfortunately, as there is no way to unlock Huawei this days do not count on any custom roming.
It's stupid of them, but sadly that's the way they choose to do it.

I love this device. Got it somewhere in September and have to say it crushes any other eink Android tablets (got few, mostly made by Onyx). It's superresponsive, doesnt lag at all and, with help of Aurora, has access to Play Store and all ebook apps available there.

sorry, bro... but our tablet is dead as a "custom-rom-enabled" device
it works good (yes, with old Android 10 VM and old HMOS 2, but good) without modifications.
I hope our chinese brothers makes HUAWEI to release some sources and some unlock-software that helps us make our device great again!
Price was good, so I've bought it.
If I knew that it will not receive an upgrade to HMOS 3 and not able to unlock and flash some custom rom, I didn't buy it
Are You sure?
On their HOS3 site I see that Paper is included: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/harmonyos-3/
They are still updating other devices and Paper is not the flagship device unfortunately.
And even without HOS3 it's great device. A10 won't be forgotten by Google for few more years, so not a problem for me.
